November 2023. I love visiting Rainbows' end. The salads always suprise me and make me want more and more. The only negative thing is the service and speed of serving. It's a funny thing. You can have relaxed but then you can have almost stopped. Wont stop me coming in as both myself and my partner enjoy it too much. Just speed up a bit and smile or at least look happy. X February 2024. Went for a quick lunch today as a solo diner. A rather quiet lunch at Rainbows. The counter looked so colourful and yummy. Great service too, best ever, actually. I had a salad bowl, cheese sconeand a can of Kombucha, £14. Salads as ever were fab. Love seeing raw broccoli in salads. Gives such a good texture. Cheesy Scone was a bit undercooked but not the end of the world. A bit cold sitting today, everyone eating with coats on.

Came here to have lunch, I wanted the soup, the soup on the board was spiced carrot and tomato soup, went to order to be told it has been changed to celeriac. The jacket potatoes were shriveled up, the falafels were broken and looked unappetising, the salads leaves were limp and browning. So opted to skip lunch and just have a drink and went for a hot chocolate... So 2 spoons of hot chocolate powder no milk and just hot water, which tasted terrible. Asked for it to be done again with milk and the server said it is made with water not milk, but we can put more powder so it stronger taste. Didn't change anything it wasn't pleasing at all.

Quite quiet when we arrived and we were served reasonably quickly. Not a lot of change on the menu. We had Pizza with salads . The salads were nice but unfortunately the pizza was very doughy . Perhaps could have been less thick . Nice touch with Crackers on the table. Some prices have gone up a lot. Eg soup on its own was £5.30? With bread £6.30 or cheese scone £6.85 ? I suppose some bread can be £ 4.50 per loaf . We really love coming here so will return.

We were looking for an afternoon tea and cake stop when we noticed a small door to a cafe. We walked through a short corridor to the cafe and found a table, which was clean and had sufficient space for two. We were served quickly, politely and offered milk alternatives as they are aware of people's preferences. The carrot cake and cheese scone were delightfyl and large. The tea was exemplary. In fitting with it's Glastonbury surroundings, the cafe was new age hippyish, so friendly, warm and welcoming. They looked after an apparently homeless gentleman while we were there, giving him a hot drink and talking to him nicely. Great to see.

Highly confusing menu.... and service equally confused, made for a disappointing experience overall. The queue was short when we arrived for a late lunch but still the wait for service seemed endless. I fear we made it even longer as the lack of labels or ingredients on anything made ordering complex and time consuming. I would suggest that menus, specials board and ingredients lists could be placed on the notice board on the way in... this might save some time at the counter. Also leaving some tap water and glasses for customers to help themselves would speed things up. A bit of a time and motion study all round would probably help too. However, the food was good ...even if the salad was a bit tired (it was towards the end of lunch service)

The good: The food is really decent with a wide range to choose from. It has a real 1980s wholefood café feel, with that stodgy, carb-heavy food that in my view is no bad thing. The cakes are always fantastic. The physical space (including the outside space) is very pleasant, if a little tight. The staff are always friendly and helpful. The not so good: The queuing system is awful. Hard to tell if there's something you want until you've waited for five minutes and can see the counter. Maybe at least photograph the menu each morning and post it on social media? It's a terrible experience for anyone with an anxiety-related condition as decisions about what to eat have to be made at the last minute under pressure. My autistic partner hates visiting. It's also difficult if you think you might want a piece of cake but want to see if you have space after lunch, because that would mean going back to the queue for another fifteen minute wait. The service time is really slow, and the food is generally luke warm at best by the time you sit down to eat it. So many times I've joined the queue only to see groups come in behind me and send someone to grab a table. Tables should only be available after serving. What am I meant to do with a tray of food when there's nowhere left to sit? Alternatively, let anyone reserve a table before joining the queue, which would be fair to everyone.

Nice food, but a staggeringly long wait for (very slow) counter service. Not much of a queue to be served - maybe six customers ahead of us - but over half an hour before it was our turn. No discernible reason for the delay - several staff there, but not many serving food. Our orders were tasty enough, but the length of time taken would put me off a return visit which is a shame.

Rainbows End Cafe Glastonbury I have not been invited to return . If you are a single male, I suggest you go somewhere else. 883508465 I am a single white male, aged 45 years. I went into the rainbows end cafe for lunch. The woman manager looked angry, I am not completely sure if she was looking at me, but there was no one behind me or near me. I ordered lunch, from a second woman, who looked very much like the first (they turned out to be sisters), she was very pleasant and gave me directions to the Chalice Well, which was the reason for my visit to Glastonbury. When I got the food, promptly served, it was delicious ! ! I later emailed the cafe, and the manager , replied. She mentioned staff shortages and building maintenance problems. She said she had not been angry at me ( I guess it was my imagination ). I gave her some advice about getting her sons to play football to teach them how to be real men. I then asked if I would be welcome to return to the Rainbow cafe on my next visit to Glastonbury. I did not get an invitation to return.; it looks like my initial impression when I first walked through the door of her cafe turned out to be true - I dont think she likes the look me; maybe I have got a hole in my aura ?? ! !

Had high expectations on this place as I’d seen it on social media & the reviews also looked good. I was disappointed at the bluntness of the waitress who was serving me over the counter. It felt like everything was hard work for her, even though my order was off the menu with no changes. She didn’t really make eye contact. Didn’t like the trays & cutlery, felt a little like a school canteen, and you had to take your food to the table. Lots of tables were not clearer outside, so even though there was space, there were things on top. Aside, the quiche & salad was AMAZING! Super tasty. I would have given a higher rating, but some things let them down.

BE VERY CAREFUL WITH THIS RESTAURANT. I bought food marked as vegan because I am allergic to eggs. However, from the first moment, I could smell the real egg in the meal. I thought they had just made it "artificially eggy" using nowadays inventions. Nevertheless, I wanted to be sure, so I asked a member of staff if it was vegan, and they said, "Yes, absolutely." I took two small bites and started to feel bad while finishing that lunch. Another person behind the counter, when was asked (again!), said that my meal contained egg among other ingredients! THESE PEOPLE HAVE NO BASIC KNOWLEDGE ABOUT ALLERGENS! Don't go there if you're allergic or vegan. That experience ended up giving me only a rash, but it could have been much worse! Just don't go there.

The food is normally very good, but - unfortunately - your individual server can make or mar the whole experience! My first meal there was excellent, served by a competent professional female server. I tried on subsequent days to return, but was put off by the excessively long waiting queues. When I eventually did get in, I ordered the exact same meal, and served by a v' young petite girl with short dark hair. She was hopeless, no ramekin dishes used, just a - questionable - table spoon, v'small portions, very sloppy, oily presentation, yuck! ..As for the bread, rather than giving me a fresh granary baton, sliced, like the previous server, she just sliced the top piece of a well used loaf. It was dry, tasteless and imo unhygienic. The top slice needed discarding. Obviously undertrained, and unengaged. What a shame! What A great disappointment.

If we had realised that service was so shocking we would have gone elsewhere but after standing there for 30 minutes thought it surely couldn’t be much longer. Lady with blond hair in a plait was working her socks off but the young man with dark hair and a beard (perhaps it was his first day, and we all have first days) was absolutely hopeless, drifting about aimlessly but thinking he was being uber cool. Five star service. I have been craving a good vegan chocolate cake for some time and the one here at Rainbows End Cafe hit the spot. It had the correct level of moistness and balance of flavour. It is that lovely flavour of a well baked home made cake without the commitment to eat the whole thing! I got a slice to go as I wanted to enjoy it at home after having a lovely lunch with my boyfriend. The staff were most accommodating and explained to me the menu and even gave suggestions on what to order. I had a stuffed aubergine with a bean salad which was very hearty and delicious. It’s a wonderful place to get a healthy and hearty meal with a warm cafe and very clean toilets. Anyway, my main review is the cake.
