I’ve been visiting this cafe for two years now. It has been consistently incredible. The staff are always friendly, the food is always amazing and the coffee is phenomenal. 10/10 I would absolutely recommend.

Had a lovely breakfast here on a Saturday, it was quite busy but the service was quick and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Both the food and coffee were brilliant, would definitely come again.

Friendly, accommodating and quick service

Hands down the best out of the three cafés I've tried. The food and coffee were both excellent.

Got breakfast twice, the vic which is sourdough bread, avacado, bacon & 2 poached eggs. It was lovely, nice healthy breakfast option hard to beat! Got a coupla iced lattes too which were delish! Staff were really nice & chatty too. :)

That's the quickest one star you can get. Needed to bring the little one to the toilet, asked if we can use the toilets and the young lady at the till said "sorry, customers only". I think she didn't see the little one, told her it's for the little one and happy to buy anything, still refused to let us use the toilet BEFORE buying. Again, all within her rights, just like writing this review is within mine. As for the food, I can't say for sure, since once the little one finishes munching on whatever we bought the rest will go straight to the bin.

I loved this place! It has a great vibe. It looks good and is really comfortable. They play some good music too. The staff are really friendly and very helpful, they know their menu and are happy to make suggestions. And the food? Beautiful. Tasty. Hot. Well presented. I had the oasted sourdough bread with salmon, cream cheese and two poached eggs. Im going back to do it all again!!!!! The coffee's great too and my server, a great guy, suggested I try the cinnamon roll! Aw man! You need to try this!

0/10. The Ulster cafe with no Ulster fry!! I cannot believe this has happened. A perfectly good cafe ruined by menu changes. Who are they appealing to? The latte set. Shocking. Railway Cafe I say no!

Excellent service, good fresh food

Railway St cafe is a lovely relaxing place with a vibe of positivity. The staff always greet you with a smile and friendly query of how you are. The food served there is amazing! They have now started selling their own range of clothing and accessories with a gentle reminder to try to stay positive with ourselves and others.

This is such a lovely little place perfectly placed for a walk (food first obvs!). Varied menu with plenty of options and superb coffee. Staff were really friendly and the food was really good! Thank you 😃

Slowest service - coffee to go is good but there is no sense of urgency when there is a queue. Waited 25 minutes for a coffee. There was on five people ahead of me.

Genuinely one of the best brunches I've ever had - who knew newcastle was such a gastronomy hub! Unbelievable food and they were fantastic about my gluten allergy, went twice in two days on our trip as we were so impressed. Well priced also, would pay twice that in Dublin for the same. Shall be back!

Called in to get a takeaway with my 7 year old niece at the entrance as I always used to do when in Newcastle but upon being asked if we were getting takeaway or sitting in, and saying "takeaway" we were told to go and stand outside and get served through the window, despite the fact that I had a mask, that we weren't stood near anyone in the empty waiting area, and we couldve got a sit in no problem without a mask, as plenty of others were sat in. I think I was that gobsmacked that I actually went to the window and paid for our stuff, like some kind of reprimanded schoolkid but instantly decided I will never ever give them another penny. Like everyone, to some extent I can tolerate the pervasive idiocy of the last few years but I won't bankroll ignorance. There's other cafe's in Newcastle that I'd far rather support from now on.

Fab breakfast, great service and atmosphere

Called here for breakfast this morning. Couldn’t fault in any shape or for,food delicious and hot and plentiful. Our sever Amy was top of her game,so friendly and nothing was to much trouble. Thanks and look forward to our next visit.

Fantastic new age cafe, staff are first class, friendly and very helpful. And the food is unreal very highly recommended. Due to this its very very popular, so you may have to wait a little, but its well worth the wait.

Nice venue good food and coffee

What a fantastic place this is. Everything was excellent, from the attentiveness of the staff, to the look of the place, to the food and drink. The attention to detail with everything within the business is perfect. It makes such a difference when business owners put effort into their business. I would certainly visit again, and I can’t recommend this place enough. 10/10.

Following a recommendation from a friend, we had breakfast at Railway St on two occasions during our recent visit to Newcastle. The food, service and setting did not disappoint. We would definitely recommend the fry breakfast. Very good value for money.

It was desperation that brought me here and their flat white coffee was superb at £2.8 and 4 of of 5 green stars to boot. I ordered through a hatch to a face I couldn’t see, just a voice, as the cafe seemed closed to sitting inside. The flat white was one of the best I’ve had. I must add that my 5 stars are based on just on one single darn fine coffee on a first visit standing on a street, on what turned out to be one of the hottest days we’ve ever had in Northern Ireland, 29c. It is unheard of - and for the last 8 weeks we’ve averaged about 16c and usually cloudy every day. The service was swift too, the coffee seemed to appear in a nanosecond. The cup was biodegradable and the plastic lid recycle able. So while it’s only a delicious coffee - to make coffee this good shows a passion and a love of food. I was staying in the Slieve Donard hotel with family. They had the gall to serve the worst coffee and worst breakfast food my family have had served up in a very long time - this was the view of 7 of us. The hotel’s rotten ‘free breakfast’ was provided on foot of having paid £185 a night for a double room for two people (or twice the nightly price of the hard rock hotel London centre in a current deal with breakfast). I noted that most Donard hotel coffees were priced at £4 but having had their coffee offering at breakfast like their lousy food, I thought never again.

One of the best places in newcastle for breakfast or lunch. Great chill atmosphere, reasonably priced, tasty food with a good selection, lovely coffee and milkshakes, great selection of sweet treats, very nice and pleasant staff. Would highly recommend!

Best breakfast I’ve ever had! The iced coffees were delicious, the breakfast bap was incredible and the hash was unmissable. Staff were so nice and service was so quick, you blinked and your food and drinks were there! 10000/10

Haven't been in Railway Street since before the 1st lockdown and the standard of the food is as good as ever (see photos). The staff in Railway street were very attentive and have a great attitude. The only negative thing I have say about is that the music is soo loud you feel like you're at a nightclub and I had to mute my hearing aids and it was still very loud as the people I was with complained about it too. All in all great breakfast, very clean and the Staff are the friendliest about.

Very good food and quality coffee

We ordered a takeaway meal to eat along the waterfront. The service was pleasant and efficient. The meal, the lunch special, was delicious and would’ve happily had it again the next day! A great place that I regularly visit when in Newcastle.

Wow! Incredible food, great service! Best meal I've had so far this year. We had The Veggie and The Hash, plus Cappucinos, Earl grey Tea and Raspberry Rocky Road. If you go to Newcastle, try this place you won't be disappointed. Top marks to the Owner, Chef & Service team they were all great - thank you. Highly recommended 🙌

We stopped by after the beach and got a stunning sausage bap and my partner claimed the best coffee she's ever had! The bap had a perfect sausage ratio and the bap itself was slightly fried which made it incredible. My partner doesn't drink caffeine and doesn't particularly like cow milk so we often don't get coffee out but railway do decafe and a selection of alternate milks so I ordered her a decafe oat milk latte and she was obsessed. We have now vowed to get a coffee every time we are there. Highly recommend.

The sweet potato rosti with poached eggs was honestly one of the best breakfasts I have ever had. It claims to take inspiration from Melbourne's famous breakfast cafes and it was every bit as good. Lovely coffee and friendly service too

I'm very pleased with the current covid measurements that they have in place at the moment. I'm completely fine with wearing a mask going in, sanitising my hands and getting my temp checked.My boyfriend and I were staying for 2 nights in Newcastle and we went both mornings for breakfast. The first day I had the pancakes (which were amazing) and my boyfriend got the fry that he thought was fantastic. The 2nd time I got the porridge bowl with almond milk and he got the sweet potato rosti. We obviously had to get coffee as well! We got the large americanos both times so I definitely got my caffeine fix those days. I still need to try out the very yummy looking sweet treats at the counter next time I'm up.

The vegitarian sandwich was absolutely flawless. The cake and coffee, might have dropped it to 4 stars, but if I could have given the food 10 stars I would. Never not enjoyed the food

A great find in NewCastle and home to Sleeper Coffee Roastery. These guys serve up an amazing breakfast or brunch, and you can take your pick from a range of great coffee roasts or a shake if you fancy it. Its usually pretty busy but really worth the wait - it doesn't disappoint. Staff is extremely friendly and will help you navigate your way down through the menu to find whats right for you. A great place for kids and adults - check out their flat whites and those awsome lemon scones.

Visited here on 12 August 2020, Breakfast was delicious, I had The Vic and my husband had Railway Fry, the bacon was so thick and very tasty, eggs perfect and great quality sausages. Coffee was hot and strong, so nice I had to have two cups. We bought two strawberry and white chocolate scones to go which were scrumptious. Staff all very polite, hand sanitiser and temperature check when you enter cafe. If you are looking for a place to have breakfast/lunch I highly recommend Railway Street Cafe.

Whilst staying in Moneyslane we had this place recommended to us, it did not disappoint. The staff were lovely & polite thorough. Due to COVID19 we had to have our temps taken, which wasn’t an issue. We decided to sit indoors but there is seating outside. There was lots of choice with drinks, cakes and food. We went for the pancakes (which were huge) £6.50 & brekki bap £4.95. Plus a large coffee £2.90 & mint tea £2.20 (not 100% sure of prices). The food was awesome, please see photos. We then took a caramel square & honeycomb tiffin home with us. They came to £4.50 & the server put two caramel squares in as they were thin. Definitely visit this if in the area, it was awesome, we might go back.

What a brilliant place for breakfast. The preparation and presentation is really nice. Granola, the Porridge, served in ways I've never seen. Most importantly really tasty. We visited 3 times in the week. Fabulous.

Railway street food is always cooked to exactly the same standard which is very tasty 😋 If want just coffee, breakfast or lunch you get the same wonderful friendly staff. I find it hard to go anywhere else 😋

Me and my mum, brother visited the restaurant and were amazed at how cool and amazing the staff were. They also play the best music to give your spirits a lift. The food and drink is really amazing in the cafe especially the caramel square and the hot chocolate is the best I have ever had.

Absolutely fantastic. Very accommodating, good interaction with staff and the food was excellent as was the coffee. Ill be back.

Lovely staff and good cup of coffee

Popped in on a Monday for lunch and was surprised to see how busy the cafe was - a good sign. After a short wait for a table we were quickly settled, given a menu and a bottle of tap water. Both ordered the bacon hash as it came highly recommended. It was a great winter lunchtime filled though next time I'll ask for my poached eggs(which came on the top) soft. Otherwise can't fault the food, the atmosphere or the service. Good job.
