Really nice, didn't know about this place until a friend said that the bar had a restaurant joined on. Food was really nice but it was a bit of a bleak atmosphere as it wasn't very busy. Service was good too

Had a rare night out and choose to eat here as all other popular places in sandgate were full , when we arrived we were shown to dining area and the atmosphere resembled a morgue whilst waiting for food couple next to us walked out during meal , starter arrived looked unappetising was potato skins but only got 1 half a potato tastes ok ( under seasoned ) next I chose chilli was terrible had a burnt taste not like any chilli I have ever had before other half had pasta was very dry and had obviously been microwaved as was steaming so much in certain places and chicken was like leather . The other half never leaves food but we left here hungry and very disappointed with a rare night out . I must say the waitress was very nice and seemed rushed off her feet she cut the price of the chilli in half but it should have wen free as It was awful would not go again

I went for the carvery, there was so much choice and the food was excellent. They had run out of cauliflower cheese and the waitress came over when more ws brought out and gave us our own on a table of four to share. No having to get back up.I can't wait to eat here again, the staff were amazing and attentive. Thanks Rag Times :)

Went for a staff Christmas do. The food was very good, most of us wanted good old turkey and all the trimmings but there were other choices, all cooked to perfection (even the potatoes and I'm fussy about my roasties!) The food was served in good time and came out hot.The staff are, as always, all great here and in the bar (Gees) where we often go for drinks and food of a Friday lunch.Totally recommend Rag Times and Gees for food and service.

Having been a customer of Ragtimes diner since discovering it earlier this summer and finding the food excellent and the staff friendly I was very disapointed when i visited last time. The food was okay... For the £10.00 you now pay for the carvery, the cauliflower in the cheese was none existent and you only get three little slithers of meat, We were seen to our table by a staff member who was rude and unhelpful. No drinks were offered and when we asked another member of staff we were told to wait while she cleaned and made up another table. I had a pint of diet cola for which I was charged over £4.00. If that wasn't bad enough we watched in amazement while the staff help them selves to the carvery while other customers line up behind them! I won't be back in a hurry

Whilst the Sunday carvery is good, the lack of service really lets it down. Staff don't smile and seem to resent you being there ! Have been a few times but seriously doubt we'll go again.

Our family and friends recently had the pleasure of trying both the busy Sunday Carvery and new stone baked pizza menu. All of us cleared our plates in record time, despite the portions being more than generous. The waitress service was impeccable, with the owners Sandra and Georgia making us all feel very welcome. You can't even quibble at the prices, which are unbelievably reasonable. All together an experience to be repeated very soon indeed. In fact, a la carte menu and music evening here we come!

The whole concept of an American Diner is great and bring something different to the area, however there is something about the place that is lacking. It is lovely inside but not relevent to the theme at all, the music is not what I would chose to play in such a restaurant and there is always a strange sense of emptiness, despite the very well cooked food, sizeable portions and very friendly staff! I would reccommend the food to anyone and advise that Fat Larry's should open at lunchtime hours, especially in the summer!

We came upon this place after a long drive up through France, crossing in the Channel Tunnel into Folkestone and then staying in a local hotel. Saw the bill boards outside pub/hotel and took a chance. What a find! The Mexican burgers were superb (hubbie said it was the best he had ever eaten and believe you me he is hard to please on the food front) and am assuming the same was for all the burgers. The burgers really did look like something home made from steak and not rubbish bits of meat as you usually get with burgers. Spicing was exceptional. Staff were great - nice and friendly but not in your face. Prices were very reasonable. Highly recommend to all travelers. We certainly will go there again

6 of us went along on Friday evening. Although at first we were the only customers the welcome and service was very good. We did take a while to decide what to eat. The food was very good, all served together, piping hot and well cooked. Would definitely reccomend this diner, we will be going back again!

Had the Sunday carvery here, with four (or was it five?) different meats to choose from, and roasted vegetables and yorkshire pudding. Everything was top notch. Also tried the toffee sponge with custard and thought I'd died and gone to heaven. Didn't really see our waitress much, I wasn't sure we even had one 'til it was time to order dessert. Even so, would highly recommend Fat Larry's for a filling and delicious meal.

We were a party of 13, on arrival we were shown to our table which was a squeeze trying not to interrupt other diners. Being a small space there was lots of tables and we felt crammed in. After settling down with our drinks we were told we could join the queue for the carvery which we did. Only to be told by another waitress would we mind waiting at our table till the queue had cleared and we could go straight up. After a while we were told we could go up for our carvery, again to be told by another waitress the cauliflower cheese was cooking would we mind waiting!! So back down we sit, baring I'm mind we have to squeeze past other diners! We are finally called up again but told once in the queue only half our group at a time so back down some of us go to sit down again!! After all this the food was lovely so worth the wait in the end. Fresh veg, perfect roasties yorkies and stuffing :) even went up for seconds!! Very reasonable price as well, apart from the scatty start will be going back again as food was lovely :)

Added bonus was the 2 beautiful parrots in reception! Dining room cold to start with but the food soon warmed us up - off the bone meat and as much as you like as you could ask for more and help yourself to spud etc. I'm not sure if you were alowed seconds - we didn't need them anyway.

The place is compact and has too many people in there using the bar aswell as the restaurant. Its a nice atmosphere but seems pressured because of space and customers. After ordering, they forgot one of the meals completely, until we asked where it was. The food was nice except the portions seemed small compared to the price charged. £6 for fish fingers, mash and beans child portion..
