Came here for breakfast for the first time as we usually come for a scone and a brew. We got the mega breakfast and 2 brews and it came to £33.50 which i thought was extortionate !!! I would return for a scone & a brew but wouldn’t get the breakfast again !!!!

In my opinion there is no better place to go to eat breakfast, lunch or afternoon tea and cake than Raffles coffee house in Preston. The portions are good, the food is to a very high standard and there is a wide variety of meals on the menu. I myself am vegetarian and never struggle to find something. The staff are excellent, friendly and professional and willing to help with any questions you may have about the menu. Children are welcome and high chairs are available. Wheelchair users are also catered for. Tables are not too close together like you get in some cafes so you feel the lovely atmosphere and you don't feel on top of each other. The decor is bright and in good condition and it is kept spotlessly clean all of the time.

I have been visiting Raffles for many years and have always this eatery for the lovely food. Sadly, after my visit yesterday I won't be back. Unfortunately a number of the waitresses seem to lack basic training in hospitality skills. They were all very pleasant and it is not their fault that they are not trained properly. The young lady who took our order struggled to understand a simple request for a wrap with ingredients from the sandwich list as my friend has a number of food intolerances. We eventually placed an order and hoped for the best. Our drinks arrived quickly and I asked if my diet coke was that as it was served in a glass and not in a can. The response was, I think so. After a few more minutes we got to the fact that it was diet coke as Pepsi is served in a can. Our food arrived and we were immediately disappointed. My bacon and brie baguette was cut in half and had 2 thin slices of brie on each half and a piece of bacon on each piece of baguette. There was a thimble of coleslaw and a small basket of chips. For £13.50, I felt the food, whilst edible was poor value. My friends wrap was nicely filled and despite an instruction that she couldn't eat raw onion was accompanied by a thimble of coleslaw. We them noticed that she had been charged £1 for the cheese in the wrap. We weren't told this at the time of ordering and was asked if she wanted salad in the wrap. As we ate our meal, 3 different waitresses walked past our table on numerous occasions and not once were we asked if our food was okay or if we wanted anything else. We also noticed that the food being delivered to other tables around us seemed to be (a) more generous in the portion sizes and (b) better presentation. After we had finished our food and had been sat with empty plates and glasses for at least 10 minutes I attracted the attention of a waitress and asked for the cake menu. She took our order and went to clear the table. We were asked if our food was okay. We said it was okay, and we shared our concerns. We were told that we wouldn't get a discount as we had eaten everything and that sometimes when the kitchen was busy they rushed the orders. We were told to explain our complaint when we paid our bill. Our drinks and desert arrived quickly and the lemon meringue pie was lovely. When we went to pay we encouraged a rather rude and unpleasant member of staff, who clearly had no customer service skills. Her attitude was appalling. She did not apologise at all and said that all the sandwiches, baguettes and wraps were the same price and that by having cheese and ham my friend had ordered an extra item, hence the charge. She could not grasp thar this was not explained to us when we ordered and that maybe in this day and age having gluten free bread might be a good idea. Eventually after a couple of minutes discussion I gave up as it was obvious she wasn't interested in the feedback and we paid and left. We were not after a discount at all, just recognition of the issues we raised. Such a shame as the cakes are lovely and some of the food looked delicious

I have been going to Raffles now for over two years and cannot fault them at all. The food is excellent and of good quality and the portions are good sized. I am vegetarian and always find something to eat there and can recommend the vegetarian breakfast. In the past I've had quiche, jacket potato, toastie and sandwiches and all have been excellent. The place is spotlessly clean the service is good and the staff are attentive, helpful and friendly. I have taken all my friends there and they've all been impressed and always suggest raffles now to meet up. 10/10 for everything

I often take my 3 year old for a breakfast at weekends and thought we'd try Raffles as it always looks busy. We got the menus and all I wanted for my daughter was a sausage and beans, I asked the waitress if that was okay as they weren't separate on the menu, she said she'd check and if it's a problem would let me know, she never came back, it turns out they charged us for a kids set meal at £4.95 which included chips, they just decided to charge us the full set meal price but did not even offer us the chips. As for my full breakfast I thought at £8.50 without a drink it was borderline expensive but if the food was good quality then not a problem, unfortunately it was not, supermarket budget range most likely - very low quality produce, the beans had hardly any sauce on them and the bacon was undercooked, the eggs were actually okay, we will not be visiting again and warning all friends and family to avoid.

We both decided to have tea and the crispy potato skins, At £7.95 we were expecting a really good plate of food but when it eventually came 30 minutes after ordering it, we found a really unappetising plate of food. Both our potatoes were only warm and my sister's was charred on one end. We were going to send it back but did not want to wait another 30 minutes. I acknowledge we got what was described ie the skin of a potato, deep fried with bacon and mozzarella but for the price it definitely was not worth the money. The salad that came with it was 1 cherry tomato halved and a bit of shredded lettuce. It is a shame the food did not match up to the service - won't visit again.

As we sat there I heard her being shouted at and humiliated by another girl there. I felt sorry for her and smiled over at her. She seemed to be the only one running around helping out. I ate the cake and drank the tea quick asked for the bill. As I paid I gave the girl a tip but this was taken off her and put in the staff jar, which is fair enough but didn’t want to tip the rest of them. I heard the staff complaining and swearing. We visited today for a spot of lunch and credit to the owners the new look is great but still not much room to pass into the cafe with a pram, if there are people paying at the till you have to wait to walk through as there isn’t enough room to get past.On looking at the menu and making our choices we saw that they charge 75p for a mug of hot water - to me that is just ridiculous. Luckily I had a bottle made up and didn’t need to pay for some hot water to warm her bottle as I would have left. All other cafes/coffee houses that I have been to since becoming a mum happily give you hot water if needed for bottles. We ordered our lunch which took a while to arrive but was nice but not as hot as I would have expected.

Went to Raffles coffee shop, St. Georges Centre, Preston, this morning with my friend and to say I'm unimpressed is the understatement of the year. I ordered a veggie breakfast at £6.25 (at least Dick Turpin wore a mask!) and my friend ordered a regular one. Then we waited....and waited....and waited. I swear to God, it took that long to arrive, I was in two minds whether to get Horlicks with it instead of coffee!! When it finally arrived (and my friend woke me up) I was presented with 2 slices of cold toast, 2 overcooked hash blacks and lukewarm beans and tomatoes. The eggs were okay. At £6.25 a pop I at least expected a veggie sausage but then, after seeing what I was given, maybe I had a lucky escape. Raffles is overpriced, the food was awful and the service wasn't that great either.

Walking through Preston on a Saturday morning looking for somewhere to eat breakfast, we passed several chains with limited and unappealing menus, but no local eateries. We had begun to wonder if we would ever find a friendly place with a good choice of breakfast options. So we were very pleased and somewhat surprised to find the perfect place inside a shopping centre. The staff were friendly and helpful, and there were several tables to choose from. The menu offered a wide range of breakfasts and we could each find just what we were looking for. When the meals arrived, the ingredients were fresh and everything was well cooked. The mega breakfast was huge! The teas and coffees were fine, and the toast and toasted tea cakes were also toasted just the right amount. The environment was clean and comfortable, and the noise levels made it easy to have a good conversation. While the space itself doesn't have a lot of character, being in a modern shopping centre, the food and service made up for this, and we would be happy to return.

Called here for lunch with my son....food was pricier than you would expect for a lunch menu! My son had a minuscule tuna wrap with a bit of shredded lettuce and I had a jacket potato with tuna....with drinks each this totalled £18!! The food was nice but certainly nothing special and was of average portions! My fresh orange was £3+!! I could have bought my own freshly squeezed bottle from Booths for that! Sorry, but we won't be visiting again!

We ordered a cheese and onion toastie to share as a quick snack and thanks goodness we only ordered one. It came on a side plate no garnish nothing just the breville type toastie looking extremely sad and with the grand price of £5.50 !!!!! i have been eating in preston town cafes for 40 years and never in all my years seen such a sad display of food. For instance we went to a pub yesterday and for £6 i got cheese and ham toastie full garnish, coleslaw and fries - yes ! proprietor read and learn if you want people to come back because we wont. I was truly disgusted by what was presented to me so much so i felt compelled to write this. Listen and learn !

The coffee shop is a nice place to go for a snack, drink or lunch. The coffee is good, the service is good and the food is good. There are decent portion sizes too - it is enough to fill you up at lunch time. It is slightly expensive for what it is but I always enjoy it.

Raffles, in the St. George's centre offers morning coffee with toasted teacake; or afternoon tea with a fresh (large) scone, butter and jam; or Afternoon tea with a sandwich of your choice. Tables generally seat 4, and the background music (not intrusive) is from the 30's through early 50's

very disappointing , we had to wait 35 mins for our toasties to be served, we did ask half way through waiting how much longer it would be and no body came back to us , a total lack of communication and when we finally were served after we finished we did complain and we were smirked and laughed at by the two young ladies running the place and we were told the owner would not speak to us as it was their day off, however the lady who was running the place that day was speaking to the owner on the phone herself, she was told to use her judgement about maybe discounting the bill as a good wil gesture and to our disappointment we were simply told no... i just found the whole experience humiliating and will not be returning .

Me and my family went for lunch, the cafe wasn't busy even though it was lunch time, eventually our order was taken, we waited 25 minutes and no food had arrived, I then asked how long it would be the reply from the waiter was I will send a message down to the kitchen, not one person had said there would be a long wait which I find very bizarre. Eventually our food arrived with no apology, the food was good. On paying the bill I explained to the young girl who said she was in charge what had happened. I expected a goodwill gesture but there was nothing offered. I asked the young girl to phone her boss who left it to her discretion, but she was still not prepared to offer a goodwill gesture. Overall the whole situation was dealt with very badly. I think staff training is needed very urgently as you will loose custom and may I stress other customers were complaining about the length if time waiting for food..

Had the afternoon tea of sandwich and a scone. Two tiny triangles of hard bread with a tiny piece of ham appeared with an equally hard scone.. The couple opposite were complaining of having to pay 75 pence for a cup of hot water. Won't go there again ..Dissapointing as from the outside It looked a lovely coffee house .

Been to Raffles many times and it has always been fine. I like the setting and the authenticity but it isn't a great place hence the title. I came I think for my final time on Sunday - ordered corned beef hash and a roll with a cup of tea, well the hash was not good - I mean there were potatoes, carrots and corned beef all on the plate but that's it - no finesse, no gravy and absolutely no love! The roll was a brown roll and was £1.50, outrageous - I wanted to return everything and not pay but my partner didn't want a fuss. Edible and forgettable, I won't return I'm afraid. This place needs to buck its ideas up!

Me and my daughter visited this cafe at 12noonish, the place was heaving but you would not have thought so, the waitress showed us to our table really friendly and very attentive. We both had the same as we were in a hurry christmas shopping. The tuna baguette on brown was stuffed with a lovely creamy mix, Superb!! And might i say the ice cream banana milk shake gave me brain freeze but was worth every sip!! I have a very fussy personality as i have a chef background this coffee house/cafe is the best i have had the pleasure to snack at. Thank you!

I visited this cafe yesterday, we had 55 minutes before the pay and display ran out on my car, so plenty of time for a cafe meal. We sat for 10 minutes before I caught a waitresses eye to take our order and it took 9 minutes for our drinks to arrive. The cafe was busy but not full. After waiting half an hour for our food I realised we had run out of time and had to leave straight away. My mum is recovering from a broken ankle and has only been out of her cast for 2 weeks so we couldn't walk fast back to the car. As we got up to leave our food miraculously appeared, I explained that we had to go but they were still trying to push it on us and said we had to pay for it. I ordered an omelet and fries, peas were advertised with the dish but as I'm allergic to peas and they cause anaphylactic shock with me, they suggested a small side salad of lettuce, tomato, cucumber and shredded carrot, no cress as I stipulated – perfect and the waitress wrote all this down. When the food actually came, very late, it had peas all over the plate so the plate of food was totally inedible to me. I paid for the drinks and was leaving under a barrage of insults from the management and staff when the shopping centre security came to intervene. I was advised that they could call the police and I asked them to do so! I explained that the food was late and whilst I wasn’t in a hurry when we arrived, the situation got urgent due to their lack of service on their part. I explained that the peas could potentially kill me and they didn’t care and actually lied by saying I didn’t ask for salad but when I challenged them and asked to see my order slip they couldn’t / wouldn’t produce it! Why would I ask for food that could kill me!!! As I went to walk away the manager shouted a tirade of disgusting insults, abuse and slanderous character assassinations at me in front of the whole shopping centre. I ran back to the car, leaving my 70 year old mum to do a slow painful walk, I was 10 minutes late but thankfully no ticket! I have never experienced such unprofessional customer service and such an unpleasant encounter, this is a horrendous place and should be closed down!!!

We have been here previously for lunch, so thought we'd give it another go. It wasn't busy, we were given the choice of a table, and the menu's brought over straight away. We ordered a couple of filled baguettes with chips and coleslaw, plus a couple of hot drinks. Whilst we were waiting for our food, another couple came and sat at the table next to ours. This couple seemed to be totally invisible to the staff, who just stood by the counter chatting. The couple waited - but still nobody came over to greet them or take their order. They got up from their seats, put their coats back on, mentioning to us that nobody had been over, despite the fact that many of the waitresses were doing nothing (just coasting or chatting). The couple walked out right past the waitresses, saying nothing. I still don't think they were noticed. They had been customers previously of Raffles - but I doubt they would be venturing back after this, and I don't blame them! Plenty of other places to eat out in Preston. Our food was OK, though a bit pricey. The sausages in my baguette were a little burnt and dry. Chips - were just 'fries' really. Good job I had ketchup for both!

For a quick coffee when shopping its nice, but don't waste your money on the food. Ate here and had the soup and baguette. Mushroom soup just tasted of salt and the prawn baguette was tasteless. Family member swapped baguette for bread, and just got a few tasteless prawns on brown bread (half slice bread) £6.95. Not value for money at all and very disappointing. I wouldn't eat here again but would try the cafe in St Georges shopping centre - i think Raffles need to re-think as competition is around the corner.

We stopped for lunch at this place having never been here before so we thought we'd give it a try whilst out on business. They are located inside a covered in shopping arcade. Inside seemed quite busy so we sat just outside (there were a few tables just by the main entrance). There seems to be plenty to choose from on the menu. Even though they were busy, it still seemed to take a little longer than expected for the food to arrive at our table. We both opted for a Soup and half Baguette Combo. My husband chose the ham baguette with carrot and coriander soup. He commented that the ham baguette could be improved with a bit of salad to add to the baguette (which only arrived with a small pot of mayo). He enjoyed the soup which had plenty of flavour. I chose pea and ham soup (which was the other 'soup of the day') and the prawn with marie rose sauce half baguette. The pea & ham soup was lovely, lots of flavour and texture with good sized pieces of ham. The baguette came lightly buttered with the prawns on top and a small pot of marie rose sauce on the side (rather than all mixed in together). I had fresh orange juice to drink and my husband chose Americano coffee (which he enjoyed). Probably a little more than we would normally spend when eating out for lunch as there are places out there offering good quality lunch deals of 2 or 3 courses from £10.99 per person - when this was just soup and half a filled baguette.

I had a lovely experience at the cafe thanks to the wonderful barista who served me (unfortunately don’t know her name) She was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and made my coffee just the way I like it. Her warm smile and kind attitude really brightened my day. It’s clear she takes pride in her work and genuinely cares about her customers. I’ll definitely be coming back!
