Rabot 1745 in Southwark

A review of our meal at Rabot on 7th January 2023 - booked via OpenTable in September 2022 . hmmm where to start ... Well as the restaurant apparently closed in September and Open Table elected not to advise us. So as the booking experience was appallingly bad And the meal was non-existent I cannot really review or recommend somewhere I was sadly not able to go can I?! OpenTable asking for a review for the booking we were unable to enjoy was the invisible icing on a non-existent cake.

Great food, great atmosphere, perfect for a long overdue catch up session. highly recommended!

Very nice afternoon tea but disappointed to be charged £10 for additional sandwiches. Always been offered foc extras at all other venues (and there have been many!). Bathrooms were in desperate need of servicing. A nice afternoon but won't be returning.

If you love hotel chocolat then you have to try their Rabot London restaurant, and make sure you try the white chocolate mash too. It's a bit pricey but ok as a one off experience.

Great restaurant in a great location. The food never disappoints and it’s such a treat to go for any of the settings. We noticed there were quite a few people taking afternoon tea, so might give it a go on our next visit. Please do not miss out on any of Rabot’s lovely deserts, they are truly outstanding. Go there if you can, a great place for lunch or dinner in a great location.

Good service and food. Happy for us to have two or three dishes to share between us. Shame that the NHS/ blue light / hotel Chocolat VIp card discounts only apply to the cafe / shop and not the restaurant

Fantastic food and service, a fine dining experience with inventive dishes, at a reasonable price. The ambience was a bit lacking only because there were not many other people dining at the time we were, but overall we had a great dinner and will be returning.

Amazing service, outstanding food incredible location above borough markets great ambiance

This was our second visit here and for a special occasion will sadly be our last. Ordered the fruit platter which we had seen on a previous visit and saw it as a generous portion so would only need one between us as at £9.95. Well when ours arrived this time we were sadly disappointed and barely had what would be I would say at a guess £3 with of fruit on the plate. Whilst we appreciate food mark up at a restaurant this was absolutely ridiculous not even a whole banana on the plate and as for fresh well let me tell you this was all straight out of the fridge and at best at least 3 days old. As for the full breakfast it should at least be served with beans for some added colour to the plate and who takes the stalk out of a mushroom to serve an ordinary tomato on top of it. As for the smashed avocado with poached egg on sourdough bread well it’s avocado surprise, bearly any on the bread at all. Honesty a lovely place but over priced for standard of food that you get.

The food at Rabot is usually excellent but unfortunately the lunch we had at our latest visit wasn't as nice. All of our dishes were over cooked and quite dry. The desserts were really lovely.

Excellent service and great food. Was seated on the outside terrace but the market was being cleaned so really noisy. Staff moved us straight away. Presentation of food is as good as you’ll find in restaurants with star!! Second visit, I will be back.

We would go there again. Great customer service and a different kind of ambience that was appropriate for us. Mixture of Fine dinning and bistro feel. Some trains were noisy over us every now again but for under a minute? Lovely food!

The food and service were excellent. Great location and you get a good view of the market if dining on the terrace. Fairly quiet on the Sunday afternoon when we went but it was over 30 degrees so being in the restaurant with its air conditioning might suit some people. I would definitely return to Rabot.

First time trying Sunday brunch at Rabot. It was tough to choose as all sounded delicious. My avocado on sourdough was delicious with the dressings and the salad side was also tasty. We managed to sneak in some prosecco and cocktails too to make for a lovely midday experience! Will definitely be back to try other options.

From arrival to leaving we were made most welcome, the staff were all very friendly and professional. The food was very fresh, tasty and well presented and we were not ripped off for drinks. In all a very pleasant dining experience.

Amazing food that looks good and taste good. The service was furst class and you won't find the same dish anywhere else in London.

Excellent attentive service by Marin who was very polite and very funny. Food was delicious and the white chocolate mash was yummy. Will definitely be returning.

Restaurant seating in the outdoor area which was very noisy due to the overhead train passing every 10 minutes and also the lively bar downstairs. Food, drinks and the overall experience just barely met expectations which is a shame. Maybe it's an oversell due to the brand name. Will not be going again.

The food is always amazing! However the service did feel like it was a effort to take our orders, and when one of our group asked to have an items removed from their meal, the waiter said it comes on the side, so it doesn’t matter. And then still served the meal with the item.

We visited the restaurant for our anniversary, I was surprised at the setting inside borough market , but our overall experience was great . The food was fabulous…it’s amazing what you can do with chocolate! The beef was excellent and also the mash potatoes, I finished with a chocolate lava cake which was gorgeous I will definitely be visiting again

We enjoyed a lovely brunch here, the food was delicious and the outdoor seating was really relaxing. All staff were attentive and professional. Special shout out to Mona as she was so friendly and lovely to speak to.

Warm welcome and amazing food. The big let down for myself and my guest was the poor attitude of the bartender and male waiters. They were completely indifferent. No service with a smile, even when pouring our champagne. However, the lady that greeted us on arrival and served our food, was attentive and engaging and sociable. It is incredible important to make guests feels welcome and valued. A smile and a hello how are you doing costs nothing but the impact is huge.

The food was very good, though was slightly disappointed by the soggy bread to start. Place was lovely however I do feel a little let down by the staff. Our waiter was not very friendly, messed up my order and seemed like he was not in the best mood. Toilets were also not the cleanest. Overall was a lovely meal though, the chicken was incredible and the desserts were wonderful.

Excellent food service and location great experience

Went on a Sunday lunchtime for our anniversary. Originally sat in a corner next to a high wall so couldn’t see out into Borough Market but were quickly repositioned to a window table upon request. Easy to do as the restaurant was very quiet. Menu not extensive but what we had was excellent. My wife particularly enjoyed the Beet (yes, Beet!) Wellington although would have preferred crispier Yorkshire Puddings. Would go again.

No atmosphere- small breakfast menu… and we were left hungry…. But what we go was tasty… but was missing the xfactor.

Absolutely love this place. The food is so unique - we had brunch which is really well priced and flavoursome. The drinks choices from mimosa to teas is incredible and the whole ambience is welcoming.

Nice restaurant and atmosphere, food was lovely but I was expecting more of a cacal influence, in most of the dishes (although lovely) tasted the same as at any other restaurant.

Great, convenient location. Good food in the heart of Borough market without paying exorbitant prices. I ordered the beef which was great and my partner had the lamb which was slightly smaller portion than anticipated. Would go again!

Services was great, servers very attentive and informative, however the portions are very small and the prices very expensive, 12. 5% service charge ended up being the cost of a mains. However sticky toffee pudding was light and fluffy must try!

We had booked a cream tea and ended up with a three course meal. the staff were swift to acknowledge their mistake and put it right with exemplary service and excellent food. There had been a mistake in communications for which they took full responsibility. We were dealt with generously and thoroughly enjoyed the chocolate themed meal. The dining area overlooking Borough Market is incredibly atmospheric, with trains passing by in the distance. This did not get in the way of our conversation or enjoyment. In a way it is a unique setting. We would return again (hopefully for a cream tea this time!!)

Great place to eat. Depends what you order, the burger and chips were a generous portion but the other food was a bit small for the price. Tasty food.

When I booked this afternoon tea I expressed that both parties had a citrus allergy, when the lovely lady rang to confirm the booking she also mentioned this and said hat it would not be a problem. On the day I arrived and enjoyed a lovely afternoon only to be told towards the end that there was a trace of citrus in one if the sandwiches…. I feel very disappointed that this happened after being very clear at booking and confirmation. I was affected by this which has spoilt the experience. The restaurant and food was so lovely, so for this to happen is upsetting. I will return but be very vocal about my allergy from the start.

Great for meetings with friends or special occasions. The food is good and the chocolate theme very special but a little pricey and starters come in small portions.

It was very nice, expensive but worth it. The only negatives was a lack of a kids menu or anything kids would really like to eat

What an experience! Was worried it would be a bit too mad, choc in all food, but was subtle notes of cacao in everything and seemed to elevate the flavours of the meats and dishes! Loved it!

It was our first time to the restaurant which was for my wifes birthday. We were greeted by friendly staff. Prompt service, the food was outstanding, the drinks were great. Couldn't fault it. Highly recommend giving this place a try.

Four of us went for a meal on Saturday 7th May 2022. The food was amazing we definitely will go back. The staff were really friendly. You can eat outside, they have heaters and blankets. However we ate inside, lovely ambiance and the chocolate martini was really lovely.

Can’t fault the food or service. Both exceptional. Reasonably pricey but I still felt it was worth the money. Lovely setting too.

Considering the exacting standards of the Hotel Chocolat ahops, and the fanfare from the TV programme we were expecting a great experience. However, the restaurant itself looked tired, the menu had food stains on it, the food was rank average at best, and considering the price was poor value for money. We would not be in a hurry to return.

We went for afternoon tea which was absolutely delicious! Sat on the terrace for a relaxed saturday afternoon vibe away from the hustle and bustle of the market downstairs. Great service, great experience.

Very friendly staff but that's where our experience ended. I don't mind paying for good quality food but I feel £26 for 3 small pieces of lamb that was overcooked, one grape size turnip cut in half, the £5 extra for chips So to summaries, 2 mains, 2 sides and 3 drinks came to £96!! Definitely won't be going back, had a better meal at Bella Italia

Confusing flavours combinations and small main portions. Some of the smaller items like butter and a sauce for the burger were solid and needed to be sent back. Service was great.

Loved sitting out on the terrace overlooking borough market. Good delicious. The pitons pulled pork starter was amazing.

Fabulous experience tasting the cacao in sumptuous dishes. The terrace is very romantic with all the festoon lights, blankets and heaters. Highly recommend the chips and cacao ketchup and white chocolate mash. Beef and lamb both excellent.

We enjoyed a fabulous lunch at Rabot celebrating my husband’s birthday. We had wanted to visit the restaurant for some time and our expectations were high, and we were not disappointed! We arrived a little early but this was no problem- we were offered a choice of tables and opted for the “outdoor” (though undercover) table with a heater above keeping us very comfortable throughout the meal. The menu offers so many tempting choices, it was difficult to decide, but we were both very happy with our selection. The food was beautifully cooked and superbly presented and the portions were perfect. Dessert (as you might imagine at a Hotel Chocolat restaurant) was absolutely outstanding - I had the “Molten Lava” and my husband the “Sticky Toffee Pudding”, they were equally delicious. Service throughout the meal was perfect - the staff were polite, friendly and attentive without being obtrusive. We cannot wait to return either for another lunch/dinner, or possibly an afternoon tea (our neighbouring table had this and it looked excellent). Highly recommend Rabot!

The setting is superb with the outside balcony overlooking the bustling Borough Market below. The food matched the setting as it was delicious and the service was excellent throughout. A wonderful afternoon out was had by the whole family.

I wanted to go Rabot long time ago, finally I managed to book a table and dine with my friend for her birthday celebration. We enjoyed the foods, Salt Marsh Lamb was nicely cooked and rolled in pistachios made the taste enhance the flavour with surprised, must try! Seafood Cacao Bouillabaisse was good , the portion was too little but expected with the price that I paid. A bit too chill for outdoor seat as they only turned on two or three heaters but no complaint as the atmosphere made the whole experience feeling warm, very attentive and good service, nice and smiley waiter provide a professional recommendation of foods and beverages, must try their cocktails anything comes with cacao, worth to try it!! The restaurant was situated in Borough Market, 3 min walking distance from the London Bridge station. Upper floor is restaurant you can take stairs or lift, and ground floor is bar. Also, They accept cash and credit card.

Arriving at the restaurant was somewhat haphazard negotiating through a shop. The staff were lovely very attentive they knew the menu and made good recommendations. The food was very tasty but cold. It may have helped if the plates were heated before service All in all we enjoyed the meal

If you love chocolate, you must dine at Rabot! They use all of the cacao bean in such creative ways.

Wonderful food and cocktails! Pulled pork and roast beef were cooked to perfection. We had the salted caramel puddings with butterscotch sauce and a complimentary salted caramel vodka that were all amazing! Very quiet which suited us. We sat on the balcony overlooking the market. Service was excellent.
