Queens Drive Fisheries in Wakefield

We visited on Easter Monday at lunch time for a family meal so we were a group of 10. Our orders were taken quickly and efficiently by a very friendly waitress and it wasn't long before our food arrived. We all agreed it was first class especially the haddock which tasted very fresh. Two of us had the pensioner's special which is very good value for money and the portions are large too. Can't fault this place.

I ordered large battered sausage and chips and peas. Although the food tasted nice the portion size of the chips was very small. Served in a cardboard box they also put the carton of peas inside the box with the battered sausage further reducing the space in the carton for the chips. It would be nice to see your take away give a bigger portion of chips as compared to other local chippies yours is the smallest and not worth the money. Cant fault the taste of the chips, sausage and peas just your portion size of the chips that were a let down. :(

We have been nearly every Sunday in this past year. Service is quick and very friendly and food is excellent...marvellous chips. Good value for pensioners meal.

Today I used the delivery service for the first time and order haddock and chips and one portion of haddock. The fish was very tasty and crisp but unfortunately the portion of chips was very sparse

I live quite near this place and quite fancied fish and chips for a change. I tried ordering on the phone because was advised to do this before - they no longer do pies - although no notification of this anywhere. Rubbish customer service and long waiting times. Whilst they may be busy they should make the queuing system better. Won't be going again for a while - although the food was nice when I eventually got it. Been dissapointed too many times.

Tried this place for the first time and was not disappointed. Easy parking. Lovely inside and very friendly, welcoming staff. The fish and chips are beautiful. Served with Yorkshire tea, bread & butter and a smile. Desserts available too but didn't have room for one! We'll be back soon.

I had a fish special and the portion size was so tiny. I was so disappointed. Not cheap at £5.80

Lovely food quick staff restaurant too

A lovely restaurant with parking. Portions were perfect and the mushy peas were excellent. Attention to detail providing scissors with the condiments. The only very small suggestion would be better quality bread but overall, most definitely 10 out of 10

Six of us plus a toddler went here on 28th December for dinner, it was as usual excellent fish and chips and great service. We have been quite a few times and have never been disappointed, the food quality is excellent and the staff can't do enough for you. We shall be returning, soon I hope.

Visited here gor lunch. The fish was nice but the chips were very poor. The service was bad, waiting staff were abrupt and we witnessed them laughing at guests and being very unhelpful. Will not be visiting again.

Visited family and my Aunt brought us here…..and were delighted that she did! Visiting from the south (Devon) although originally from Yorkshire, I can honestly say that the southern half of the country could take a leaf….(or indeed the whole tree) from these guys book! Service was warm and friendly (small touches such as offering to refill the tea pot….in Devon we’d have received eyerolls at tutting!). The food was fabulous - best fish and chips we’ve had….ever. Both Leanne and Dianne were warm, friendly and very helpful. If I could give 11 out of 10, I would!

Called in for a takeaway. Quick service, friendly staff. Tasty food. Great to find chips that aren't soggy! Didn't realise they have a drive through window and you can pre order!

I have started to get Fish & Chips delivered from here and everytime they arrive hot, fresh and tasty. Top notch food. They even put a small bag of Haribo in with them which is nice, even if they do get melted into a puddle of sugary goo from the hot food.

Family were over from Spain, so we decided to eat in the restaurant at Queens Drive. 2 children ate free which was exceptional, as were the pensioners specials and the two large fish with chips. Service was spot on friendly, and efficient. All in all I can't recommend it enough.

Decided to call here today rather than our regular fish and chips restaurant. Glad we did, it's got more parking facilities and more airy inside. We had the senior special including tea or coffee bread and butter as well as a desert. All very nicely cooked. We shall be back.

Been looking all over wakefield for a decent fish & chip shop & we've found one they're better than decent we ordered for delivery they arrived piping hot very good portion size & delivered on time they were better than anywhere else we've tried...even beats the coastal resorts !! If I could rate a 6* I would we will definitely be ordering again & we highly recommend!

Quality fish and chips well worth a visit.

I prefer my chips a bit browner, but apart from that they were good. Unfair to rate the atmosphere as we were the only customers.

This really pains me to post because I’m a regular to this place and really love the food normally however, me and the wife had fish and chip tea last Saturday and it was a disappointment. We had fish and chips each. Small peas and small curry. The first fish was already done and ready but they had to cook another. So 1 fish was Luke warm even the chips were very Luke warm. The other was 1 piping hot fish and Luke warm chips. It was like they had been sat around for a while. In the shops defense it was around 8pm on a Saturday night so nearly closing time but when you are parting with £20 you expect it to be nice and hot. I’m really sorry lads but this wasn’t great and a waste of money that time.

Can be great but last week not so good as the fish was tagged you pay enough for it where ever you go so you don't expect to pay for tagged fish apart from that it's a great place to eat

Large Haddock was same as a normal from most other shops so that was disappointing. Chips were fine. Cooked well enough. Not greasy. Overall, it was good enough, not amazing. I would visit again but not in a hurry.

Visited the takeaway . Horrendous service and substandard fish and chips . Paid 29 for 4 portions of fish and chips and Waited 20 minutes .The only place I know to measure the chip portion . No apology for waiting so long . The batter was so thin that it was a soggy mess and chips not great either . Will never go back

Chips tasted like they had been cooked hours ago

Fish cooked to order so nice & "fresh", decent portions. However need a sign to say restaurant customers take precedence over take away sales! Even though the person serving requested fish to be cooked as per the order nothing was done until a formal complaint was made. Not impressed at all.

I've never been before for a sit-down meal and was amazed. The decor is lovely, there is plenty of choice on the menu, prices are reasonably, service was fast and the food was gorgeous. A real hidden gem.

I found the fish very greasy, and the portion size was not great, smallish fish and small portion of chips, only 1 slice of bread! Expensive for what you actually get but the staff were very good

Always had take away never a sit in. I can't remember ever having a bad meal from here. Not the cheapest in the town, but fairly priced and decent portion sizes.

Teatime take out, fish and batter tasted dirty oily like the old queens drive take outs used to be. I wouldn’t rush back as it repeated on me all evening.

Claimed to be restaurant, but I believe cafe status will be more applicable. Although food is nice, I believe price is not reasonable for the portion you recive. Unable to order anything without ordering main course?....Huh?...what if I just wanted an Ice cream or desert as they are nice..I must order main course first?.... Waitress chould have been a little for understanding and patient. Solid 3/5

Used to go here regularly when I was in the area with work. As I was passing through the area we decided to stop for lunch. Even though it is several years since I was last here, the only difference is that it's been refurbished. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the food was very good. We had a sit in meal and it was very good value.

I bought fish and chips to eat at home, they put my fish on top of my chips in way that kept it away from the paper, when they were wrapped. This was great because usually when I get fish and chips (which isn't often) the fish sticks to the paper and you lose half of the batter (my favourite bit 😋). I visited on Friday evening 11th August with 5 other people at a table which had been prebooked, 3 couples, a total of 6. We all ordered seniors meals at £12.25 each. When the meals were served there was insufficient tea,bread and butter for 6 people ,only enough for 4 people so additional tea,bread and butter was requested and this was quickly brought to the table.We asked to split the bill 3 ways, as there were 3 couples, the first couple to pay,whohad ordered the additional tea,bread and butter,were charged £24.50, the second couple to pay were also charged £24.50, but the third couple ,myself and my wife were charged £27.10. I was very surprised as I was only expecting to pay £24.50, so I asked for a receipt but this did not detail anything apart from a total . The till girl had already disappeared into the back of the shop by the time I looked at the receipt so I asked another member of staff whose first reaction was "it wasn;t me who served you".however she checked the till and announced that the extra £2.60 was because extra tea ,bread and butter had been served. I am very unhappy because firstly not sufficient tea, bead and butter had been served to start with, no mention had been made of any extra charge for this and all the charge had been added to the last payer even though this was not the person who had actually made the request.Also the member of staff who took payment made herself conveniently unavailable very quickly and her replacement denied any responsibility. This attitude does not encourage us to visit again even though up till this we had been regular customers.

If you don’t know the area, this is the chippy to go to, excellent take away and a restaurant if you wish to eat in!

Paid £7.40 for fish and chips to eat out. 3 people in front of me. 25 minutes stood waiting, still not served. Got my money back. Ridiculous service. Quick to take order and cash, but seems they are only interested in online click and collect orders. Constantly wrapping fish and chips for collection, but happy to see you stood waiting AGES if you order at the counter. Get your act together, it's terrible customer service.

We came from dewsbury as was recommended by friends. The fish was very nice. Peas and curry sauce were only 3/4 full. We will stick with barracuda. In response to your reply. There is no need to contact you direct. The complaint was small portions as detailed above

This is family owned business. The restaurant has a modern and clean feel to it. The service is quick and attentive. The quality of the fish and chips is first class, and matches any other restaurant I have reviewed. The fish is fresh with a tasty crunchy batter, accompanied with chunky fish shop style chips, that were fried to perfection. The mushy peas, are the real deal, plus the curry sauce is good too. There is a small carpark to the rear, and the restaurant and takeaway have disabled access. Well worth a visit, for an excellent quality product at a reasonable price!

Lovely welcome and excellent food delivered with a smile. Nice fish nice large flakes. Food sides and always happy to top up on tea. Will be back to enjoy again.

First time visiting queens drive Ossett today what a lovely place, we sat in the restaurant, the staff were friendly and helpful on arrival. We ordered are starters and mains and the starters came out pretty quick, I had the prawn cocktail 10/10 everything fresh and tasted good, unfortunately my partner wasn’t overly impressed with her soup as it tasted like tinned soup which is absolutely fine but £5 for a tinned isn’t the best in my opinion. Mains arrived shortly after and we really enjoyed everything, the fish was cooked perfectly and the chips tasted great, I couldn’t recommend the fish and chips highly enough. I’m giving this restaurant a 4/5 star rating based on the food it would be a 5/5 star unquestionable, but the table service wasn’t great. I will definitely return for fish and chips, but I think I’d take away next time. Overall very happy. Thank you.

Could be the best fish and chips in Yorkshire (not tried them all.....yet..!!). But we've not had a bad lot yet. Don't mind waiting until the fish have been freshly cooked 'cause that's what you want isn't it!
