Qubana in Wakefield

Excellent choices of tapas - really good varied menu, enjoyed everything plus NHS discount - BONUS, we all shared a variety of tapas

We had a really amazing night at Qubana for my partners birthday, the cocktails were delicious, the food came quickly and was amazing. The thing that stood out about our visit was the service, Craig welcomed us and was funny - even went so far as to carry my drink from the bar to our table and went above and beyond to ensure we enjoyed our time. Our waiter Kieran was extremely knowledgable about the drinks and food menu, giving us personalised recommendations and even suggesting drinks off menu that we would like, he gave 10/10 service. The building is a beautiful romantic setting, we would highly recommend visiting here for date night.

Enjoyed our visit last time so much we decided to return for our anniversary. The food was excellent once again, and we were lucky enough to be served by Lucy for a second time so I got to drink more of the Qubana Rum Punch. Can't recommend the place strongly enough.

This restaurant is located in the heart of Wakefield, with plenty of options for parking. The decor and seating etc is lovely, plenty of room and decorated well. On arrival we were seated at a booth with street views, plush leather seating and very intimate. Now, we did have to wait an exceptional amount of time for a waiter to come, unfortunately after 20 minutes we had to go look for someone to serve us. We ordered from the lunch menu. The food was very tasty, for tapas I feel there was a good amount. The calamari and whitebait were delicious, the sesame chicken was a little sweet for us and we found that the patatas bravas and casa were the exact same dish with aiola on one. The cheesecake sandwich was very good value for money, however a dip or sauce on the side would of been better. On the whole the food was very good, the value/quantity for money was very good too! Maybe they need to put less ice in the drinks?? The only disappointment for us was the service. We waited so long for someone to come and then no one checked on us throughout the meal, this was lunchtime and there was only one other table occupied. I would definitely recommend the food for taste, quantity and value for money, however, service was not good at all

We have been to this restaurant before a number of times and have always enjoyed it, but not this time unfortunately. We ordered a number of tapas dishes but only received 3 quarters of them initially, the others we had to request again. Portion sizes were, for some dishes, nothing short of paltry. £7 for Ginger Beer Ribs, we received a single rib. The Plato de Pan was 2 slices of baguette style bread and 3 smaller bits of bread, this was £4. It was my daughters birthday so I wasn't about to start sending food back, I didn't want the evening to be remembered for that. In terms of the food we had the quality was good, as was the service (missing dishes aside) but size of the portions, given the price of the dishes, will make me think twice before returning.

First visit on recommendation from a friend. Tuesday night but really busy. Felt safe from arrival. Our waitress Lucy was really enthusiastic about her job and everyone seemed to be part of a great team. Recommend the goats cheese, goat curry and calamari. The salmon wasn’t great value for money. We’ll be back - soon!

Called in for Lunch. Had 3 tapas dishes for £9. This was very good value and was surprised with how generous the portions were. What was not such good value was the Diet Coke at £3.70. Why do these places like to “rip off” the non drinkers? It’s totally counter productive and takes the gloss off what was a nice lunch.Good atmosphere and very nicely decorated and well laid out.

Me and my friend came here for cocktails on the terrace last week. Food and drinks were great but it was the service that really stood out. The manager was very nice who I booked the table with (think his name is Craig). A young lad who served us with red hair (I didn't get his name) was very attentive and friendly and there was a young girl (I think her name was Lucy) who was very ovely too and chatty. Considering how hot it was that day and they must have been boiling in their uniforms and masks they stayed professional throughout.

Jason was super!! Amazing customer service and made me and my mum feel so welcome. Prices are cheap and food was delicious. I will definitely be coming back.

I'd booked a table for my friend and I as it was my birthday. Upon arrival, we were greeted by Craig the host who was delightful, upbeat, characterful and a refreshing change. We were seated and Craig left us to the waiting team. That's exactly what we did, we waited and waited and waited. Two tables behind us who came in after us were served before us, we waited so long, their food arrived before we even ordered a drink. Not great after we thought we'd dropped on well. After being seated at 3.40pm when 4.10pm came, we decided to leave. I informed Craig we neo longer needed the table. He was distraught by what he had heard. He asked if we allow him to turn our experience around by seating us at a table closer to the bar. From this point in, we were treated like VIPs. Craig and Martin went above and beyond to make it right. Our experience after hours of drinking great cocktails was just what my friend and I needed. Thanks to Craig in particular but this rocky start turned out to be a fantastic experience on the end. Thanks to the professionalism of Craig and Martin, we left feeling wonderful, a tad drunk but we were happy. Thank you so much for getting this back on track. We will be back..mif you'll have us lol. Thank you, it's a tough world right now, we appreciated all you did for us X

Arranged an afternoon tea for a few work friends. Atmosphere was lovely , food fantastic and service excellent Aiden was very welcoming and looked after us very well. A number of the team kept dropping by to ask if we were happy with everything and to just make friendly conversation. Will definitely be back and would highly recommend a visit.

Second time I have visited this establishment ‘ had to wait for a while then bar man noticed we didn’t have a drink ‘so when waitress did come over we decided to order two drinks . I was told then by a very rude waitress that I had to pay for my drinks before I had received them . The waitress was very rude ‘ I decided to pay my bill and leave .will not be going back .no I dear how to speak to customers

Absolutely amazing service, great mannerisms and always served food and drinks with a smile. Jason ensured we weren’t hungry or thirsty ever and always made sure we were comfortable and happy!!!

Me and my mum came for tapas last week for the first time and we will definitely return again, the food was delicious and the service was wonderful. Jason was extra attentive and complimentary towards my mum once he knew it was her birthday, he also made lovely suggestions from the menu. Ps Jason, we hope you get that second date!! :)

Well we had a bit of a bad start as we didn’t get the outside table we’d reserved but my they made up for it. Lucy on the floor really did a lot of the leg work in recovering the service. Looking after us all evening with Amazing cocktails, friendly service and wonderful attentiveness. A massive asset to the business. We eventually got out in the terrace and had a fantastic evening all round!!! Thanks Lucy and Qubana.

My daughter and I enjoyed a perfect Tapas meal at Qubana yesterday evening. Food was spot on and the staff were great. Lucy and Jason get a special mention as they were so welcoming, friendly and attentive.

What a lovely evening! I booked with my mum for food at 6 and ended up nearly staying all night! Our server Lucy could not have worked harder to keep us laughing, drinking and having a brilliant time! She deserves a medal, and as do all the amazing staff at qubana. Keep it up guys, utterly fantastic.

I can honestly say I’ve been to many a restaurant and had good service upon numerous occasions but my god I’ve never come across anybody like Jason hands down the best service I’ve ever experienced in my life the food is exquisite the drinks are sublime the atmosphere is so electric and our service was by far second to none will be returning indefinitely honestly amazing

I'd visited for the first time today and have to say it was great! Shout out to Lucy for amazing service, came at any point in need and ensured we had the best time here! Along with Hayden and Raf also! Lovely place and definitely will come again.

Jason met us at the door and welcomed us. I announced we were here for our bottomless brunch, imagine my suprise When i was informed Qubana actually only did this on a sat and I had somehow managed to book somewhere in Newcastle! We were seated? Looked after and treated to a fab lunchtime tapas menu. Well! Porn star martinis, wine, fabulous food and a lovely tequilla finish...what a brunch. Jason has been amusing, entertaining and attentive! Well done that man. This was and remains my fave restaurant. May be back tom for bottomless brunch!

There were 7 of us, on our first visit to Wakefield and what a surprise. Great Town and Great people.We chanced upon Qubana for our first evening meal in the town, and we were so impressed, we went there every night for the 3 day break we were having.The food and the choice were perfect an there was something for everyone.But what makes the restaurant so special is the manager and the whole of his team. This was a most welcoming atmosphere and nothing was too much trouble.We loved the the vault room which was set aside for us. The restaurant is based in a former bank and the use of the vault room for private dinning is really special.All seven of us would recommend the Qubana and look forward to our next visit.Our thanks to all the staff that made our visit to Wakefield, such a special one.

Visited last Saturday for the bottomless brunch with 2 friends. Food was excellent and the prosecco kept flowing by our amazing waitress Lucy who made sure we had the best time possible!

Our saviour/server Lucy was amazing! Fantastic high trousers and very covid compliant. Throughly deserving of a bottle of rum from management. When I asked for aioli she gave me a huge tub. When I asked for a drinks recommendation- she recommended the biggest one. Top lass.

Me and my partner were originally sat adjacent in supper club but we could hear the laughter and giggles between the tables opposite us so decided to come over ourselves from the get go the waiter/server Jason advised us about going to to the front to track and trace etc then once we sat down he recommended us cocktails that he thought we’d like one in particular being El Matador (lush) he then continued to make our time with Qubana so lovely by giving suggestions for tapas one being a goat curry which was absolutely sublime to his choice of dessert he is honestly such a attentive person you can see the love he has for his job top man

We visited Qubana for a birthday celebration and it was faultless. The staff, in particular Jason, made the night! It was a surprise meal and the staff went above and beyond to protect this! Jason had us laughing all evening.The food was faultless and would highly recommend.

I came here with my partner a few weeks ago and had a lovely time on the Terrace - food was delicious, service great - so we decided to come back with friends on Saturday. We should have had the table for 2 hours, but upon arrival the previous people hadn’t vacated the table so we had to wait downstairs for 15 mins. When we got the table, the waitress informed us we only now had it for 1.5 hours so she could clean it for the next people. She then proceeded to hassle us every 5 minutes to put our food order in. How long does it take to wipe a table down between groups? Upon us being evicted from our table before our allotted time was up, there were loads of empty tables all around, but I couldn’t be bothered to argue so we went elsewhere. Food was lovely, just a shame we didn’t get our allotted time on the Terrace and were hassled for the time we were there - either to make our order or to vacate the minute we’d finished eating.

Sat outside & enjoyed roast beef Sunday lunch in the sunshine,homemade yorkshire puddings were the best I've had ,almost half a cow on my plate ! Roast veggies and the creamy mash from start to finish the service we recieved was 100% . Lucy was excellent , when I ordered my drink there was a problem with the pump this was easily rectified by lucy recommending a different drink that she thought I would like , I actually preferred what she suggested! Kieran got our bill promptly when asked and was helpful with our nhs discount, 10 /10 Qubana ! Xx

We went for a meal last night at Quabana and the whole night was great, first and foremost the food was amazing but what made the night for us was the waiter Jason, what an absolute legend that guy is. You go to some restaurants and the staff are so robotic and have zero personality, not Jason, he had us in stitches all night with his banter and excellent customer service, really made the night for us. If you go, make sure you ask for him as your waiter, you'll not be disappointed. We will all definitely be coming back again.

Qubana is definitely a hidden gem, inside it is a beautifully transformed old bank with features kept from the original building. This place is an instagrammers dream it is ideal for photos with beautiful decor. There are so many hidden bars and seating within Qubana itself, a gorgeous interior with a private dining area, also an underground bunker style bar and also a roof terrace! Absolutely perfect for summer. The service is great with lots of attentive staff and the food was so yummy, served quickly too! Highly recommend :)

Our first visit to Qubana did not disappoint !! The food, drink and attentive & entertaining service from Jason was amazing! We visited as a group of 4 & had a mixture of dishes from tapas, burgers, curry & deserts & couldn’t fault a single dish. The place has a great atmosphere & is somewhere I would Definitely recommend. The last tapas we had, 6 selections, was just enough for the two of us. So went in, very nice surroundings, sat down and ordered 6 selections and an absolutly fantastic bottle of wine, MMM Macho Man Monestrell, a bit pricy, but; what the hell, we were only young once! Then the tapas came, each bowl was about three times bigger than the last place we ordered at! (we did warn you!) we left so much of it but we just couldn't fit any more in. They did offer to box it up to take away but as we were just about to travel back to Glasgow we declined. To top it off we were served by a delightful, tiny, young lady called called Gertrude........ no sorry that was a person in Glasgow, this was Lucy who catered to our every need! We cannot rate her or this wonderful place highly enough.

My girlfriend & I went to Qubana for some drinks in the terrace area and found ourselves in love with the overall aesthetic, the gorgeous cocktails and lovely staff. We were served by Lucy and she was delightful. Very bubbly and funny, we really liked the dancing she did to pass the time.My girlfriend & I enjoyed our time there and will most certainly be coming back again some time soon.

I have come to qubana for years and years, since it started at the other premises. Since lockdown has lifted a lot had changed and it saddens me to say it’s not what it used to be. I have visited with friends for food for the second time since lockdown has lifted. First time the service was really poor and pretty frustrating. The same thing happened today. The waitress struggled to remember what we ordered and kept coming back to re ask, drinks were not brought, cutlery was not brought with the meals and we had to ask twice for it, we asked for extra sauce which came during the main (it was for the starter), the drink I asked for came during the end of the main so assumed it had been forgotten, the mains were brought out a good 5 mins apart from each other and then the wrong desert was brought to the table so again one of us ate separately. The young lady who served us picked up on this and kindly advised she had removed the desert from the bill - without me needing to say anything. Unfortunately the service just isn’t as friendly and as professional as it used to be. The young lady who said it was her first Sunday was lovely, but apart from that everyone seemed to not know what was going on and came across like they didn’t care. We were the only table upstairs too. I’m really sorry to leave such a negative review but this is the second time now.

Amazing evening! First night out in 2 years for an extremely busy crisis community team within the NHS! We work with teenagers with mental health difficulties so definitely needed a good night out! Lucy was INCREDIBLE tending to our every desire (and command, sorry!) Martin and Craig were wonderfully hospitable, thank you! And Joe and Raf kept the food and drinks coming, making us feel so very looked after... we feel more valued than we did with the clapping or 1% pay rise that's for sure! Thanks guys!

I have to say Craig was absolutely amazing. We arrived early but he seated us straight away and made sure we was looked after for the entire time. We asked him about the area and he was extremely helpful and offered to book us a taxi for our next destination. This was our first time in Wakefield and I have to say this was an unforgettable experience I will definitely be returning and I have to say it was mainly down to Craig. Also the food and drinks were absolute to die for you have to come here!!!!!!!!

Me and some acquaintances visited this exceptional establishment for a meal on a Friday night, Lucy #SOPHISTICATEDGAL was our hostess, she provided an exquisite service, she was friendly throughout and even put up with out childish behaviour throughout the entire service, Craig the senior General manager #BIGDOG was incredibly attentive and welcoming. I would highly recommend a visit to quabana Wakefield and a pay rise for Lucy and Craig.

The food and service was great, as we are both allergy sufferers (nut & coeliac) it’s sometimes a worry going out for food however Amanda was so attentive and ensured everything was covered so we didn’t have to worry and throughly enjoyed our night, would recommend to anyone! Thanks Amanda x

We visited Qubana on a Saturday night and from the moment we walked in the staff were so welcoming and up for a laugh. We were served at our table by Kieran who was amazing, he gave us great information about food we were undecided about and cocktail suggestions based on what we told him we liked. He told us about the qubana rum punch which isn’t on the menu. Highhhhly recommend this drink by the way. He went above and beyond and made our night. We then spoke with Craig who was just fantastic. All I can say is this place has great cocktails, great food and the staff are packed with personality. It’s like going to a fab restaurant that’s run by your mates. We’ll be back regularly!! Utterly fantastic service and the food was truly delicious! Lucy was the most lovely and helpful presence, so attentive and humorous. The evening was compounded by her magnetism.As for the food, between our entire party we covered most of the menu and found that it was all delicious, though the standout Tapas was the Curries Goat for me, truly wonderful food and atmosphere.If you haven't visited Post-Covid lockdown, then you are missing out on a true treat, especially if you're blessed to be served by Lucy!

My friend and I visited Tuesday 25th May. It was my friends first time out with her 3months old baby and was slightly nervous. She needn’t have worried at all. Jason our server was so attentive, really chatty and accommodating. He really put her at ease without realising he needed to. Thank you Jason.The food was lovely and fresh and social distancing measures were all adhered to. Great job Qubana, we will be back.

Came for drinks and tapas with a group of friends, Joe served us our drinks and looked after us, amazing drinks and lovely atmosphere! Especially the Long Island! Thank you Joe!

We were shown to a table in the smaller front room. I had not eaten in here before but it was very comfortable and quieter than the main restaurant. We ordered a prawn starter and the calamari starter. The calamari was delicious as always, however we did not enjoy the prawns, as they had been blackened in the oven and we found the flavour of the prawns overpowered by this. We explained this to our friendly waiter and he told us that they would not charge us for the prawns, as we had not enjoyed them. For mains we both had the Blackened Galician Cod. It was absolutely delicious!! The fish was cooked to perfection and the sauce was amazing! We were extremely pleased without choice! After our meal, we took our drinks up into the terrace bar. The atmosphere was really good up there and it was lovely and warm under the heater! All of the staff in the bar and restaurant were so friendly, funny and helpful! We love Qubana and we were so glad to be back after all this time!

First meal out since the end of lockdown. The restaurant atmosphere was great and we had a lovely time. Food was good too but what really made our night was the waiter Kieran, who was friendly and attentive despite it being very busy. Excellent service. Thanks again Kieran!

We have just enjoyed an absolutely fab evening here. We were squeezed in last minute, after a reservation elsewhere fell through, and we could not have been more attentively looked after. Jason was sensational, and great fun and really made the evening enjoyable for us. The food was delicious, the drinks were amazing and we really couldn’t recommend it any more.

This place is amazing! Me and my fiancé came here tonight 20th May 2021 as a last minute thing, and the service was just brilliant I can't compliment it enough we had been served by kieran, Amanda, Aletta I apologise if I spelt any names wrong. But they were fabulous! Honestly we have been coming to this restaurant since our first date and we will continue to do so and everytime we are amazed from the drinks to the food to the service all of it just excellent I have and will continue to recommend this to my friends and family! The staff makes it the best, the food is just delightful I really cant say how much I love this place!!! Thank you for making our nights enjoyable and magical!

Excellent visit to Qubana! We booked a table with friends on the outdoor terrace due to Covid restrictions and typically,the heavens opened. We needn't have worried however as Qubana has catered for this brilliantly, ensuring the beautiful terrace is well covered, yet still ventilated. Each table has its own heater and partition. All Covid safety precautions were clearly taken very seriously which was reassuring. Our food was amazing as always, I think we could have picked everything from the menu - certainly a reason to visit again soon! My husband ordered the curried goat, jambalaya and lamb kebab and he said it was the tastiest food he'd eaten in a restaurant for a long time. Went out with my husband for a birthday meal. We were seated on the roof in a lovely secluded area with heat lamp and roof shelter. It was raining but we felt nothing. Was like eating indoors! Staff were friendly and attentive. The food came out quickly and it tasted amazing. First time eating here but it won't be the last. Booked a friends trip in May :) Thank you guys for making our first outing really special.

Wow! What an effort these guys are making. We’ve been for food and drinks recently and so well organised. Service exceptional and just a lovely atmosphere. Jason and Craig in particular had us in stitches, without compromising on service. Almost don’t want the outdoor only to end because it feels like an adventure

We visited the roof terrace. What an amazing place to be, covered and warm! Chloe was an amazing server, nothing was too much trouble and so warm and welcoming.

Had an amazing lunch to celebrate both mine and my friends birthdays. The food and drinks were to die for but it has to be said that Jason made our day! The absolute best! I’ve never seen someone engage so well with his customers and make sure they’re having a great time. He was fun, friendly and just so lovely! To say he was new to the team it didn’t show! An absolute star and an asset to Qubana! So thank you Jason, we had the best time!

Popped over on a cold, Covid rule, outdoor only weekend, for a drink with friends and had loads to share from the tapas menu to taste everything. The staff and manager were excellent. Food was amazing. Gas heaters were on and fleeces given out if you were still a tad cold. The service here is always great. So are the food and cocktails! If you want friendly service, great food and a great atmosphere, this is where you need to be.

Me & my friends that I met abroad in Australia have finally been reunited after a year apart! We were greeted & taken care of by a lovely gentleman named Martin & were catered to by two lovely ladies, Chloe & Hayley! They were so chatty, welcoming & treated us like we were their friends! They are amazing & the food & drinks were absolutely lush! Can’t wait to come back!

My wife and I visited Qubana yesterday evening for our first meal out since the pandemic started. Everything from start to finish was perfect. The food was fantastic and full of flavour, thankfully as my wife has a very picky pallete, and we both felt at ease and safe with the covid precautions put in place. Although we have to socially distance and wear masks etc, the visit felt completely natural. Chloe was our waitress and could not do enough for us. She was incredibly chatty, friendly, and knowledgable. The pink haired bar lady also deserves a shout out, as you could see the poor girl was soaked through but she still did her job fantastically, our cocktails were great! Booked booked a table on the Terrace for my mum‘s 55th birthday couldn’t ask for better customer service!! Was greeted by lovely men called Martin and James. Once we was upstairs on the terraced we were severed by a young lady called Hayley who made us feel ever welcome and took our drink order! The best place in Wakefield!!!

We didn’t know what to expect being sat outside on the terrace but each table has its own designated heater so we were nice and toasty. Absolutely amazing food and cocktails! Great service too Hayley was really lovely, attentive and sweet! Thank you so much!
