Pyne's of Somerset in Sedgemoor

On my way from Gloucestershire to Langport, I had already decided to call in here to pick up a pork roll to eat while I was out and about. As usual, they were rather on the busy side. Thankfully it did not take too long to be served. Whenever I call in here, the takeaway part is full of tradesmen. This time was no different, so it just goes to show that they know where to get the best meal. By the time I had the opportunity to devour my roast pork roll, it was no longer hot, but that did did deter me. The only thing I found was the crackling was a bit on the hard side for me. Apart from that, I really enjoyed my roll.

Amazing service & staff. They supplied a Hog Roast for my Daughter & Son In Laws “Happily Ever After Party” All the guests were full from the abundance of succulent pork & stuffing, Liam & Connor ,our servers were a lovely couple of lads where nothing was too much trouble. Highly recommend this professional team , for their quality of great food & very reasonably priced. Thank you x

I don't call here often but my go-to place if I want something for a special occasion. The staff are so helpful and knowledgeable and there is a wonderful array of produce, both fresh and preserved.

second holiday in Somerset and found paynes of Somerset. fantastic place selling fresh vegetables cakes jam's wines and ciders. also the takeaway food is something else. the pies are packed with meat and the hog roast pork is out of this world. we are going back to Somerset again next year and we will definitely be going back to paynes again. Well worth a visit if you're in the area.

Passed this place many times always seems to be a queue so thought I would check it out as was lunch time on a drizzly Wednesday. Well what a find, would even go as far to say I’d divert off the M5 to get my lips round a roast sandwich from here. Half a cow shredded in a bread cake with a generous dollop of horse raddish. Definitely the way to this Yorkshire man’s heart. Don’t miss out and get here. Yes there was a queue, yes I had to wait. You know what they say, good things come to those who wait.

Always interesting to see the great selection of fine meat meat products , and produce and a tasty hot beef roll.

To be fair they were busy. I was told to come back in ten minuets, after after 30 minuets of waiting, I drove to a fish and chip shop. I would not recommend at busy times ie lunchtime or Saturdays.

Stopped in to have a look around and was amazed with all the fresh meats and fish available. Loved the selections of jam and chutney. Really friendly staff and excellent cafe, the queue was out the door.

Just wow.. costs a few quid.. but worth every penny. Fresh roast, roast potatoes and great selection of take away snacks

Food is great quality but the owner is very rude and abusive to his employees. I’ve heard him scream at employees without reason on the times I have visited. The general staff are very good, kind and polite but the whole establishment is let down by that tyrant. It’s a shocking display seeing someone treat others with such lack of respect.

I bought stuff from time to time from Pyne's, it's always been top quality. I decided to buy online this time around. Got to say website is very clear and easy to navigate. Ordered a couple of BBQ packs for delivery for a 60th birthday party, each pack contains 10 sausages, 10 burgers and 10 chicken drumsticks, all of exceptional quality. They keep you updated on your order via email etc, and arrived on time. The BBQ was a great success and many complements on the quality of the food. Only one criticism, when I woke up the next morning, I had a terrible hangover caused by the burgers, which surprised me because I did wash them down with 13 cans of Thatchers gold and 2 bottles of wine.

We’re local and always use our butchers and deli’s. Today we popped into Pynes and picked up some bits including some scotch eggs which were just disgusting. They were wet, soggy, fatty and the eggs were dry and overcooked. A scotch egg is something a good deli should always get right. There are lots of other local, smaller butchers and deli’s around which are much better. Very disappointing.

I visited Pynes shop for the first time yesterday. Why had they bothered with signs saying 6 customers only and keep social distancing? The place was full, with people milling around and being beckoned in by staff if they hesitated at the door. Few people taking any notice of hand sanitizer and there didn’t appear to be a one way system And squeezing past each other. What a hot bed for the coronavirus. I just bought some essentials and got out of there pronto

We stopped for dinner and refreshments and to break up out journey to the Southwest, the food was lovely and everywhere was spotless, We highly recommend and will definitely stop by again, Thank you

Flipping heck! Go to Pyne's in North Petherton, get your pork and apple burger from the takeaway (and lots of other stuff) then get all your meats for your Sunday roast or BBQ in the shop next door, also a fantastic delicatessen. You will not be disappointed! This is a high end supplier of top quality food. If you don't like it, your an idiot!

We feel very lucky to be able to visit pines,it is like going back in time, wicker baskets to put your shopping in, everything arrange to look uniformed but easy to reach, lots of items made locally in cute jars packets and containers freshest vegetables and fruit, local wines beers spirits, not forgetting local ciders.There is a fish counter with local fresh fish, and can be filleted, the sausages and green back bacon are my favourites, all the meat can be traced back to the animals they came from, lots of meats to choose from, then the cheese counter, taste the cheese before you buy to ensure it is the cheese you like, this is how they operate there, there is also a takeaway counter with pasty’s sausage rolls, to a cooked breakfasts, lunch time they do a roast dinner, plenty of car park

I totally agree with the lady he is rude and arigant I almost ran out of the shop I bought some steak said thank you to the girl he couldn't of heard me he shouted sarcastiCley thank you goodbye at the top of his voice.I would have bought more if he wasn't there.obviously a total bully.product's look good but I would never use again my son warned me before I went he said the owner wasnt nice.

Best Butchers I've been into down south thats for sure, the hot deli counter and the roast beef sandwiches are fantastic, real taste of home!

You pay a basic price of £5 or there abouts? For that you have a choice of different meat dishes with ALL the vegetables. The quality is outstanding especially bearing the price. You have a choice of eating at tables at the end of the shop or takeaway. Bear in mind the shop has just won the award of the “Best Butcher in England” I should have mentioned that you can get pasties and sandwiches etc

We were visiting locally over NYE , were recommended this butches Honestly hands down the best steak I have had in this country Butcher kindly finely sliced the fillet for my hot plate . Such a great butchers

Called in here to do some shopping at the farm shop. Had a coffee and bacon roll. Cracking coffee and good roll, although we had extra bacon to make sure it was full. Bacon was good too. Given its just off Junction 24 of the M5 I'm surprised more people don't use it for services. Mind you it was very busy and the roast pig and beef for the takeaway lunches looked fabulous. They don't do a cafe service but do have a small number of tables at which you can eat your takeaway. The farm shop is great too.

Visited here for the first time last weekend wow what choices! I was like a kid in a sweet shop! Good range of quality produce, well presented, quirky, friendly and also sampled the gin Bought some delicious cheese, vegetables and garlic chicken so fresh & tasty can’t wait to come back. Fab choices for ideas for gift hampers, the little pottery are so cute, will be adding to my collection next visit.

Malcolm and the team helped us with both lunch and dinner on the weekend for a birthday gathering near Langport: for lunch we had game and pork pies together with a beautifully dressed salmon and excellent cheeses and in the evening a catered roast Lamb which exceeded all expectations and which was served by Malcolm himself (together with the lovely Mabel) - beautiful salads, potatoes and condiments. No detail left unattended and everything was managed perfectly. Special mention also to Sally, Katie and Aaron in the shop for their terrific service. A truly wonderful business that is run with passion and superb commitment to quality and value. Really can't recommend enough.

traditional butchers style outlet with a modern touch this place is amazing has a wide range off meats and deli .as well as ciders and off course a hog roast which is a must brilliant tasting high quality pork and beef rolls which will for sure fill you up .staff are very friendly and polite highly recommend .

Although food at international fast food restaurants might be slightly cheaper, they certainly do NOT have the quality food of this establishment. Their rolls are not the cheapest, but then they are not the most expensive. I, for one much prefer to buy something of first class quality here than at any fast food chain. Not only are their roast beef or pork rolls of the highest quality possible, everything that they sell in their takeaway section is first class.

If you have a propensity for buying overpriced cuts of meat, then look no further.

This farm shop is the real business, superb array of the finest foods, it’s quite true you only get what you pay for, well worth the few Bob extra, now the takeaway, wow, if you ain’t hungry don’t come,!! Just ask any journeyman tradesman in the area, the food is brilliant, fresh , local and superbly cooked, the rolls are so fresh and filled with the finest food whatever you choose, you will not need lunch after a breakfast roll, but saying that the working boys are always hungry , just get in the line up for lunch !!! You can keep your fancy coffee company’s companies just try a Payne’s fresh coffee made with care by the all off the ladies who always carry a special smile , so well done to you all keep up the superb work and thank you ,

Worth the drive for quality meat and interesting fish selection. Importantly for me my source of Dorset Nob biscuits and lots of other good things not found in your average super market. Probably some of most knowledgeable staff with amazing cheerful can do attitude makes it a pleasure to visit.

The breakfast was served quickly and tast3d wonderful, the coffee was brought to out table, so that our food didn’t get cold, excellent service.

We chose Pyne’s of Somerset to provide a hog roast for our wedding reception in September 2018 and couldn’t be happier with our choice. They set up (and cleared up) everything themselves, were unfailingly polite to our guests, and – most importantly – the quality of the food was superb. The tastiest hog roast in Somerset!

We popped into Pynes for a few bits on our way for a pub lunch, on arrival we saw that there was a "Hog Roast" available. We quickly changed our minds and tried it, and were not disappointed at all!!! Fantastic food, and very friendly staff, well done to the Pyne' s Team!

Well this is the place to be. If you are travelling on the M5 or A38 and need a good quick lunch head for just north of North Petherton and try the superb roast dinner. Roast beef or pork and all the vegs (today was potato wedges, bubble and squeak, peas and carrots in a box for eating in or taking with you. Sounds interesting, well it will cost you £4.99 or take a cup of tea or coffee and it becomes £5.50. Being a butchers the meet is simply delicious, beautifully cooked and melts in the mouth. We had a beef roll, (£3.99) and it was too much for the Mrs so the rest just couldn't be wasted. It is worth travelling to Pynes for a delicious meal. No airs and graces you have to queue to get your food and carry it to a table either inside or out but as for value for money it is difficult to beat. Well done too to the great smiley staff why not pop in for lunch and do your shopping for meat, fish and lots of other scrumptious items and great cider. The boss is usually there with a smile and word of welcome to all. Fantastic place get there soon.

We called in and was amazed at the choice it was like a super modern farm shop but so much more it had a butchers sold pies veg jams chutneys and cider of all kinds what a fabulous shop I was heartbroken that we could not buy more as we were staying in a hotel up the road and wouldn’t be able to get it home in the heat otherwise I would have bought the shop up everything looked so nice and fresh.

this place you just know it's all quality but you will pay a little for the quality. clean and tidy and good service.

I was trying to purchase the finest sausage rolls, so I had heard, when I was rudely served by someone named Lewis he wasn't scanning my items fast enough, and when I told him to hurry up (because I had places to be, after all I am rich). I wanted to leave by now as the sausage roll smelt, I tried it and it was off, I am certain. Worst experience ever, they don't scan your items fast enough, 5 seconds for a sausage roll is unacceptable! They charged me £1 for 2 sausage rolls! I know I am a millionaire but this is just aggravating.

For Xmas I wanted to get my partner a cheese tasting experience, where we could try different cheeses, drinks and so on. I enquired to many different places, such as cheddar gorge and small local food shops, and no one could help me as this wasn’t something that they did. I rang pynes hoping they would be able to deliver, and my god did they!!!! They told me it was something they hadn’t done before, but would be more than happy to do for me. I spoke I Sally on the phone a few times to agree details of this, and she was fantastic !!

Pop in on the way home from work at least once a week for a cut of steak or whatever I fancy cooking when I get home. A tad expensive but you get what you pay for here. Beautiful. They also offer pre prepared things like fresh chicken kievs for example. Haven't had a take away so can't comment. I prefer to cook. Yummy stuff. A loyalty card would be nice

Bit pricey but it makes up for it with delicious food and brilliant customer service. Strongly recommend the melt-down burgers and the black pudding sausages. Oh, and the massive pork pies!

We popped in to get a coffee and some food quickly and received a very warm welcome when we walked through the door by the owner as we always do. All the staff are very friendly and can’t do enough for you. We ordered our Xmas turkey whilst we were there as we had one from there 2 years ago and it was absolutely beautiful! Can’t recommend enough!!!!!

Been here many times first time for Pynes Breakfast roll. Less than a fiver with a late coffee. The farm shop is amazing.

Unless we arrive before the dinnertime trade,we have no chance of buying a delicious hot beef or pork roll. With all the tradesmen nearby, it is no wonder that we have to arrive late morningish.

Really dissapointed today with hot counter service, really slow the lady said been busy all morning and ????? Already called for take away for 11.30 arrived there at 11.45 the food wasnt ready aswell

We popped onto Pynes whilst staying nearby, and wanted to see what they had to offer. They have a take away service serving beef/ pork rolls with trimmings, and pies, breakfast rolls etc as well as tea/ coffee and cold drinks. They also had an excellent range of sandwiches at good prices. You can sit in or outside, ot take away. The meat and fish counters were amazing, watching butchers prepare the meat in front of you, and answering questions about the produce and recipes. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. My husband wanted to try some cider, -and he was given samples to try before he decided on the one he liked best. It was a great experience! Having bought and tried the meat, we would definetly recomend this local shop as it serves excellent produce.

Have used this food emporium whilst here on business. Not only is the food excellent but extremely good value for the quality and quantity of the portions.

A friendly and inviting welcome is assured whilst you browse around the shop. My husband tends to veer towards the meat counter to purchase the most enormous steaks that are cut in front of you as per your requirements. These have become a staple treat when we have family come to visit! The generous take-away breakfasts on a Saturday are also worth stopping for. However be advised....you are almost guaranteed to pick up other yummy goodies at the same time!

Great takeaway here! The pork hog roast roll is something else. All the trimmings! The shop has some great products but not that cheap. The fish they sell is such good quality too. Real cider sold to takeaway at a good price too. A good place to get Somerset produce

Got all of our meat and cold meat here when we were on holiday. The bacon and black pudding sausages were really good, as were marinated pork steaks. The ham wasn't so nice we were given the discoloured end of the joint and the scotch egg were really poor, I should have been alerted by the bright orange breadcrumbs, the sausage meat was inedible.

I have been shopping here for 5 years and it just keeps getting better and better. Staff are polite and friendly. The shop is well laid out and attractive. The hot food counter is wonderful. From snacks and drinks to full meals. The Saturday hog roast is to die for. There is an amazing range of sausages, beautiful cuts of meat, pre prepared meat and the BBQ range is the best I've ever seen. The fish counter is great too and Glen really knows his fish. Visit once and you'll be hooked!!!

If you want cheap meat don't come to Pynes. If you want top quality, great tasting meat, choose Pynes. I come here weekly for everything from burgers & sausages to top quality steak, pork, beef or lamb joints. Never had a bad experience. Take in your recipe & the butchers will prep it exactly as you want. You pay for top quality & Pynes is well worth it. Love the team as well. All so helpful. Nothing too much trouble.

Pynes is one of those places that is a delight to visit if you enjoy high quality local produce, either to buy or to eat in the cafe. Friendly, efficient staff, the owner always speaks to you when he is there.

The quality and service of this superb Emporium of delights, it always amazes me, by the excellent service of ALL the Staff and the Owner/Manager. Yes you pay a little more, but its local and BRITISH! The takeaway is excellent value for money too.

Turned off the M5 and junction 24 expecting to find a motor way service station. Due to road works couldn't find it but found Pynes of Somerset. Sold all sorts of fresh produce and did take-away, or eat outside snacks and meals. We had the sausage rolls and the pulled pork rolls, mouth watering. On the way back we purchased their roast beef with all the trimmings to take away.. £5.00 and so much. Highly recommend this place, forget boring motorway service stations. The staff were so friendly, not something you see much of these days.

The food is great here and the staff are very friendly. Always ask for crackling with the pork rolls they give you loads! The portion sizes are huge so its very good value for money. Sometimes I struggle to finish the rolls but I always manage to because they are so delicious. The breakfast baps are also great.

We have had quite a few products from Pynes, we particularly recommend the lamb kebabs for BBQ and the proper jobs sausages are amazing! They also have a great range of sauces and jams as well as a great fish counter as well.The take our food area is great particularly since the redevelopment as the queuing system works better. Love the rolls and hot food on offer the only thing I don't much like is the sausage patties and although the bacon is full of flavour a personal preference is slightly crispier than what is on offer. Great friendly service and really family feel to the shop brilliant welcomes and hearty goodbyes!!

Visited this morning and it was excellent.Had three standard breakfast rolls and hot drinks, sat in the sun outside to consume and realised what we had been missing using other chain outlets! Fresh quality products at a surprisingly good price of £3.50 in a deal with a drink.After a fulfilling 'meal' we went back inside to buy our Sunday roast and even a gift voucher for my elderly father to treat himself to the wide selection of excellent food and drinks on offer.The service was excellent, food selection and quality good.

A group of friends and our children visited Pynes to see some sausage making and have a sausage and mash supper. We were warmly welcomed by Mr Pynes and Anton who clearly delight in talking about their vocation and history of Pynes and butchery. The sausage making demo engaged the children and we also toured behind the scenes. Another member of staff cooked us all a simple but very enjoyable sausage and mash supper. An excellent evening. Yes we bought some of their excellent products but I also feel I have re engaged with a local butcher! Job well done.

Wow, lots of fresh ingredients and extensive choices, attentive customer service from the moment I walked in. Everything well explained. Must pay a visit, may be just a little pricey, but worth it.

Sadly I was looking forward to showing how good their pork rolls etc are in Pynes but went on Satyrday and was disappointed. No apple sauce offered and when I mentioned it the answer was rather curt in that I hadn't asked for it!!! Made the roll extremely dry, not offered stuffing or crackling either. My advice, don't go in after 1pm!!!!

Delicious breakfast baguette! The sausage patties are scrumptious, and I always add black pudding to mine. Staff are always very friendly and will open a till for you if it's getting busy and there's a spare till available. The cakes are also a must! There's a great selection of things to take away for your lunch whilst on the go, and why not sample some scrumpy whilst you're there and purchase some for your weekend treat! Happy days :)

Their meat and fish is excellent. Their pies and hot snacks are gorgeous. Their selection of cheeses is fab. The whole place oozes quality when it comes to food. The staff are very nice, and clearly very well trained. It's not cheap, but it's so worth it!

Called here for some breakfast after a Christmas night out, so in need of sustenance. We were not disappointed with the breakfast baps and coffee and the hog roast also looked excellent. We then had a pleasant time perusing the extensive range of goods on offer. There is an outside seating area and a limited number of tables inside. Worth making the 5 minute journey from the M5, rather than suffering motorway services food! .

The staff are ruled by a very tall aggressive boss.He is watching everything and everyone.. I ask for a gammon joint i'm given a bacon joint. If you question and ask again I'm told i am difficult. I know what I like and do not want what i'm told to buy. I would go as far as to say the boss/ owner and manager is a big,all, loud bully.The meat is not that special. There are better butchers in the area. I love well hung meat. Pynes have no idea what well hung meat is. They've tried to sell me meat that has not been hung.You can't bully customers into buying produce they do not want to buy. Just because you like it. This does not mean everyone else has to like it.Shame on you.

My wife and I stopped here for the famous pork and beef rolls. We both decided to have a beef roll each. To me the decision was the right one. we could almost taste the beef as it was carved from the joint. The beef almost melted in our mouth as we bit into the rolls. Well worth the visit.

Pyne's is a superb Farm Shop, an amazing Butcher, a great retailer of ciders and one of the best places in England to enjoy a pig roast bap. The staff are friendly, helpful and attentive. It is just off Junction 24 of the M5 and well worth a visit - you will not be disappointed. Quintessentially Zummerzet!!

I always enjoy the shopping & food experience at the Pyne's of Somerset. The place is always clean and staff are all very friendly.

This is part of the amazing Pyne's butchers shop. Excellent take away hot food made with the same quality ingredients they sell in the shop. The shop is an Aladdins cave of meat and fish plus all sorts of other goodies. Here we have top quality locally produced meat from breeds such as Devon Red Ruby raised in local farms. Not only is the meat properly hung it is often cheaper than the big supermarkets charge. The is nowhere else like it locally.

In 7 years( since I left a job as coffee barista ) didn't have better coffee then I had today!!!.I ordered Mocha and flapjack.... Just Delicious:) All staff so welcoming and helpful. I couldn't ask for more in this very rainy morning.Thank you Holly for you warm approach and coffee:)

Apart from the sausages which are well worth the trip to buy - you can also enjoy a delicious lunch as well - I chose the Pork Bap with stuffing and crackling - my other half had the Shepherds Pie :)

The butchery and fish counters are excellent quick service However how can there be just one person serving on the take a way counter this girl does the lot makes sandwiches and serves.People are on a lunch break and cannot wait ! Surely a better idea would be for maybe two or three to serve on the lunchtime time.So annoying as when you are served the food is nice.

the beef rolls are so full we had to take some meat out and take home, where i made pulled beef rolls the following day. Staff are so helpful, you can take away,eat outside or inside. Always smells of nice food when you call in to the shop.

We were looking for a restaurant just off the M5 to have lunch before we started on a Quantocks tour. We read the reviews which were almost all glowing, so were really looking forward to it.We arrived at about 12:30. They were quite busy at the service counter, but we were seen quite quickly. We ordered full meals to 'eat in', one beef, one pork. My wife is allergic to soya, and the staff checked very quickly that she should not have the gravy. The helpings were large, and we had to stop the lady doling out more meat! The meal was cheaper than we were used to in restaurants, and the staff were very friendly and efficient.We took our meals straight to an outside table. As soon as we started eating, we were disappointed that both meals were only lukewarm. The vegetables were very over-cooked. The peas were a dingy green, and the roast potatoes were impossible to cut through. The meat was lean and tender, so it is a pity the rest of the meal was rather tasteless.We enjoyed visiting the shop afterwards, and bought a number of items, and were impressed with the staffing. We suggest you don't visit just for an eat-in meal.
