Simply the best dining experience I have ever had. The food was amazing right through all seven courses. The staff couldn't have been better. Very welcoming. They made us feel totally relaxed and are very knowledgeable about all the food and wine.

While the food and service was good, I thought that it was a bit overhyped and costly for what I found was not a very relaxing dining experience.

A little gem in Stockbridge. My wife and I were staying nearby and had lunch at Purslane. The food was excellent and the service was friendly and efficient. On our radar for a return visit next time we're in Edinburgh.

From start to finish the experience at Purslane was fantastic. Great welcome, the staff couldn't be more attentive and they all had amazing knowledge about the food and wines we were served. The food itself was out of this world. Looked fantastic and the flavours were absolutely brilliant. A definite go to if your in Edinburgh and want a lovely meal.

Absolutely delightful restaurant, for service with a smile and fantastic quality of food. We plucked up the courage to take our two teenage daughters to see how they would fare with fine dining food and we so pleased we choose Purslane. Wow, we were hugely impressed with Purslane. Delicious food, thoughtfully adapted for our personal tastes, and paired with gorgeous wines and incredibly friendly, attentive service. A bargain at the price, and easily the best meal we had during our stay in Edinburgh. Thanks to the great team there, we'll definitely be returning on our next visit.

Surprisingly good! We had the 2 courses for lunch, everything was very decent: service, food and atmosphere. I am very satisfied and would recommend to my friends to try. Unlike some fine restaurants which always charge extra for some pre-fixed courses, so you ended up paying more than advertised, this one is true to its value. No strings attached, totally worth it.

Great little restaurant with fabulous food and good service

Amazing food, every bite was special! We had the 5 course tasting menu and every course blew us away. Atmosphere was very relaxed and front of house were amazing and attentive without hovering. Music playlist was perfect for the relaxed atmosphere. We will be coming back here every time we visit Edinburgh.

Purslane is both intimate and welcoming. We visited on a Sunday lunch time and had the 5 course tasting menu. The food was beautifully presented and was absolutely delicious. Definitely on a par with Michelin standard and served by a friendly, professional and knowledgeable team. In addition to the 5 courses there were lovely surprises: amuse bouche; chicken stock basted bread with butter with crispy chicken skin; a heavenly pre dessert (red and yellow pepper with fiery chilli sorbet, balanced with a creamy cooling parfait, and tuille - my absolute fave); and delightful petit fours. We enjoyed our visit and would rate our experience a faultless 10/10.

Hidden gem!!! Michelin standard food with expertly paired wines. Served by extremely friendly and knowledgeable staff. We were made to feel welcome as soon as we walked through the door. A cosy intimate setting. Visited with family for a birthday lunch and we'll definitely be back! Local produce cooked to perfection with a unique twist! Huge, juicy Orkney scallops & red pepper, chilli sorbet were a couple of the highlights! Can't recommend this place enough!

What a find! A little way out of the city centre but a lovely walk to it through Dene Village. Phenomenal fennel starters and fabulous vegetarian/vegan options. Great service and value for what should be an award-winning restaurant.
