Purple Mango in Cherwell

New Owners, The food is outstanding...The best in Banbury by far. I like a hot and tasty curry ( Chick Tikka Narga) and this was without doubt the best one I have had so far. They have only had this for the last two weeks and prior to this they ran Indian Banbury which was also outstanding

Terrible food and drinks (no mango pulp for mango lassi and flat beers). Red food colouring used excessively in the tikka and curries instead of actual seasoning. The poppadoms were the best part of the meal. Our waiter (who may have been the manager) didn’t seem very interested or friendly.

Food was not good at all. Very very tasteless and bland. Completely baffled by the good reviews tbh but service was great and they are really nice people. We have much better in London so might just be the area.

Heard lots of good things about this place so finally went to try it and was definitely not disappointed. Staff were so friendly and helpful made you feel so looked after and welcome. The food was outstanding can not rate it high enough. Clean and welcoming and fantastic value for money can not wait to visit again.

I’ve been out of the country for a year and missed a good Indian. Me & my mum spare of the moment decided to try the Tuesday Banquet. It did not disappoint, my only criticism is that I wish there was tons of leftovers that I could have feasted on for days! My mum thought the Korma had a funny taste and I agree it wasn’t the best. But my lamb Balti….WOW Service is excellent, can’t fault the experience.

First time visiting yesterday and the food was incredible. Staff are very friendly and professional, fantastic service

King prawn puree start was amazing. Mango delight and keema rice was packed full of flavour. Staff always bring a smile to your face and make you feel really welcome. So glad this is my local.

Food is nice here. The Sunday buffet is good, and gives you the chance to try items you might not normally order. The meals are a little inconsistent in that a curry which was spicy the previous visit might not be the next time you go. I guess that's a good indication they are made fresh but it's hard to know what to order. Service is always friendly. We usually go when it's not busy so the atmosphere is quiet, but that is our choice to visit on quieter times.

17th Feb. Waiting for takeaway delivery, chased up after 1.5 hrs, told it was on its way. Chased up again at 2 hrs. Said system down, altho I had confirmation it was in kitchen at 18.28pm. Very disappointing. Won't be using them again. Refund given.

Ten of us went to Purple Mango Banbury for a family birthday dinner. We were very well looked after, food and service was great. All food came out together, piping hot, had a great time. Access was excellent for wheelchair user. We'll be back, thanks

Me and my husband have been going to purple mango for over 12 years, we have always enjoyed the food and service , especially now 007 the main man looks after us very well , very pleasant guy , looks after all the customers coming in , most of all the food is amazing

Executing first class, professional service whilst being casual and great fun to talk to. The food was absolutely spot on - completely delicious in fact, whilst fairly priced and well presented. The overall service was what made my first visit here quite special, and warranted this review. I asked for straws for my younger siblings which they didn't have, which is not even a problem anyway... but a staff member actually went to the shop to buy straws for us without any prompting. Very kind, and thoughtful. Great food and lovely service from people who clearly care about what they do. It's an absolute must visit if you're in the area. Thank you again Purple Mango 🙏👊

I’ve just had a lovely takeaway from this restaurant . I had a 007 railway curry . It was the best curry I have tasted . I will def be back again and excellent service too .

Overbearing passive aggressive atmosphere, I've never felt more bullied into making a choice. Less than average food, missing drink from order, incorrect and tricky to understand the hand written bill which was still way more than expected even after the random main dish was removed. Also had the cheek to tell us that service was not included.

Came in early one evening, had best experience! Wonderful host recommended the 007 dish, which my husband had and he loved it! Great staff, really really tasty food and the toilets were spotless! Give them a try! 😀

Fantastic food, Great service and very reasonably priced. Sunday buffet is also a must if you want to try some new things. if you are like me, i tend to stick to the same dishes - this can really broaden your variety and introduce you to some dishes which you would not tend to pick. 10/10

Stopped off in Banbury on way home from Gatwick airport. Found Purple Mango on trip advisor. Service was great food delicious. Would recommend anyone to try this Indian restaurant.

He recommended the 007 curry which was fabulous. Everything we had was outstanding, large portions. They have both cobra and kingfisher beer. It was just a brilliant night we thoroughly enjoyed it. Food was so tasty and the service was excellent. Staff were very attentive and food arrived quickly. Catered for special dietary requirements as I don't eat diary or eggs. Awful. The most unauthentic Indian cuisine I’ve ever tasted - we had lamb tikka masala and chicken tikka masala - so nothing complicated, and it was fluorescent red which is generally a bad sign, and all you could taste was sweet coconut. The meat was chewy as well. Why some Indian restaurants think that British taste is like this I do not know - maybe 30 years ago some people didn’t understand the flavours and accepted this anglicised version - but nowadays most people want something authentic. If you want a proper tasty authentic Indian steer well clear of this place.
