Pulteney Bridge Restaurant in Bath and North East Somerset

Food is really yummy but the pricing and portion sizes have changed. This was once in my top 3 restaurants in Bath but today I was underwhelmed. I paid £24 for JUST a duck breast and everything else would have been extra. The duck dish used to come with broccoli and dauphinois but now it’s really poor value for money. I’m really disappointed as this is one of the most expensive dinners I’ve had in a while beating some really fine dining establishments which are now better value for money. The food is lovely but not worth nearly £120 for two people.

We visited here on a busy Saturday night - we hadn’t booked a table but the waiter was very accommodating & managed to seat us at 7pm. We was due to watch a show at 7:45 & we ordered, was fed & watered & out of the door in time. The food was exceptional, very high quality & a lovely location. We had 6oz fillet, sea bass, 2 drinks & a bottle of still water - This came to £100 (just to give an idea of price &/ service charge)

We had dinner on Monday night whilst staying in Bath the staff were super friendly and attentive throughou. The food was great the mozzerella on the pizza was the best I have tasted, we also had the lasagne which was just as good along with some very zingy raspberry sorbet to finish. It was full and had a lovely ambiance, highly recommend we had 3 courses with drinks for £75 which I think is reasonable. Thank you for a lovely evening x

You HAVE TO eat here if you visit bath! Highlight of our trip. It came recommended by locals, and we had the most amazing time! Butternut squash soup OMG DIVINE, fish of the sea filled pasta OMG I would have eaten it twice! The wine was amazing, portion sizes were huge. Just full of flavour and such a lovely location! LOVE LOVE LOVE

Food was delicious ! Classic Garlic Bread for starters was nice, would recommend the Spaghetti and Meatballs for main as it was very well cooked and tasted amazing. Both desserts were scrumptious and both main and desserts were very well designed and placed on the plate. Pleasing to the eye, can tell they take time to make your food taste and look good. Would definitely recommend to a friend.

We came across Antica one afternoon during a two night stay in Bath and popped in and booked a table for two for dinner that Tuesday evening. We arrived at 7.15pm and were shown to a tiny alcove table in the corner by a window. The place was already busy, but the menu and wine list arrived promptly and we ordered quite soon afterwards. I went for a Bruschetta Al Pomodoro starter and my wife for Gamberoni alla Diavola - prawns sauteed with garlic, chilli and white wine. We ordered a bottle of Trebiano wine. The wine arrived promptly with a friendly female waitress serving us, followed with speed, by our starters. We both thoroughly enjoyed the taste of our starters, though my wife felt another slice of bread would have helped her mop up the delicious white wine sauce. I had three large slices of bruschetta, which I struggled to finish. Our main dishes followed promptly - a Spaghetti Arrabiata for myself and a Linguine ai Frutti di Mare for my partner. The pasta was beautifully cooked and the sauce sharp and chilli hot, as expected. The portion size was just right. My wife's main was generous in mussels and prawns with a little calamari and the tomato sauce rich and tasty. The service up to this point had been exemplary, but from then on, the service went rapidly downhill. After a short break, a male waiter bought us a dessert menu and then we were left out of sight for at least 25 minutes. Yes, we tried to get some attention, without success. Other bigger tables in more noticeable parts of the restaurant got all the attention. We finally gave up on getting to order a dessert and tried to get the bill and leave, but even that became impossible. Finally, we both went up to the cash desk and asked for our bill. A significant service charge was automatically added to our bill that totalled just over £100. My debit card couldn't face the service charge but my wife's card reluctantly gave in. We would return, when we are in Bath again, but next time we would insist on a table in the sight of waiters.

I felt a little uncomfortable, which is unusual for me in a restaurant. The food I felt was very mediocre . The wine was really nice, as was the coffee . Even though I only had 2 starters, I never received a check back , which I always give when I'm at work . I didn't feel the service was bad, but neither really good. I saw people that had bottles of wine that had to top it up themselves . I thought it was exceptionally expensive. I had 2 small pinots , 2 starters, a dessert, and a cappuccino . And a very expensive bottle of sparkling water the total bill was £65.00

Really good food, well cooked. We had some delicious fish and excellent meatballs. An excellent place for lunch. Highly recommended. And not expensive.

The seafood pasta and bruschetta were sensational and loaded with lots of the the right ingredients - especially the freshest seafood!!! The wine list is great and desert - salted caramel cheesecake was lovely. If you book for a pre 6pm dinner and the crowd has yet to arrive grab the private side room for a romantic night for 2 with a great restaurant atmosphere. Staff didn’t miss a beat and were very attentive. Note there is a pre included service charge - 10% of total bill - not your choice but you can remove if you choose - watch the small print on the bill.

The food was mostly excellent but our visit was let down by the fact that we had to wait 40 minutes for our pre-booked table. Whilst we were offered a free drink, the layout of the restaurant meant that the delay for ourselves and 4 other couples at the same time caused a negative experience for other diners. Our waiter came across as unwelcoming, and one of our food items never arrived but we were billed for it.

The food here was brilliant and really tasty, the service was fast and everyone was really friendly. We sat outside that was not a problem because there are basically no cars in bath. Overall highly recommended! Brilliant.

A special reception and a warm atmosphere. The name of the restaurant is in line with the atmosphere of the place. As for the food, it is very delicious, especially I chose the risotto with shrimp. It was wonderful. However, the dishes that the family chose were still distinctive dishes. As for the worker Ahmed, his reception was very nice and he deserves the reason for our return. I was in bath for a family holiday. Went to Antica restaurant for dinner. The atmosphere was beautiful the staff were very helpful especially Ahmad he helped us to order as we only eat see food. The food didn’t take long to arrive and delicious.

My husband and I gone to Antica in Bath for lunch. The restaurant had a cozy ambiance. The staff were very efficient and attentive, for example in one of the dishes, they had added rocket, my husband does not eat rocket, and he was just going to remove the rocket and eat. The staff at once said, ''no no, we will take it, and add a different green salad leaf. Promptly they changed and gave us. The service was quick and the staff always had a smile . The reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 stars: 1) The bruschetta's tomatoes were delicious, we did not like the bread as much. 2) I wish there was a little more gap between our seat and our neighbours' seat. Their a little too loud talking disturbed us. 3) The Arrabbiata's pasta tasted amazing and even the sauce was nice, I just wish it was spicier. For me it was a normal red sauce pasta, not a spicy Arrabbiata pasta dish. Instead of tasting it tangy and spicy, the dish tasted a creamy red pasta. The restaurant is a great stop, if staying around the Putney area in Bath.

Lovely, authentic Italian restaurant. All the food was great, i had sea bass ravioli .,. Possibly best pasta dish ever eaten. Great service too. Would definitely return and recommend to couples or families. Great Tagliata too. And yummy puds.

This is a superb restaurant! We’ve both been a couple of times and the food is absolutely delicious. It’s a lovely setting / atmosphere, and the service is absolutely outstanding. Special mention to Dani who went above and beyond. This will most definitely become our go-to restaurant in Bath.

I’m a Bath resident, and love exploring our restaurants. Last night we one of us had seafood and the other linguine ai gamberi, followed by tiramisu and panacotta: the food is absolutely delicious and the service perfect, both attentive and friendly. It’s the kind of place that you simply relax, knowing you’re in good hands. It was so enjoyable I felt prompted to write a review.

This was a precooked birthday meal on a Saturday night for myself and partner. Warm welcome on entry and lovely atmosphere and smell of the cuisine.Seated central facing entry door on a 2 seater table. Worst spot in the restaurant. Busy as expected for a Saturday but the non prebooked stood direct in eye line awaiting you to finish your meal so they could take your place. Awful. You felt pressured as you eat...it was my birthday treat so not a good feeling.Staff attentive and cuisine was delicious. Appreciate a popular place but prioritise the prebookers from the on the spot diners.

We are visiting Bath from Derbyshire as a birthday celebratory trip & we chose this restaurant after reading the many positive reviews & we were so pleased we did. The food was superb & authentic & the service was friendly & attentive with Nicole ensuring everything was perfect. We would highly recommend a visit

Lovely authentic Italian Resturant, centrally located on (or next to) Pulteney Bridge. The food was delicious and the staff friendly, helpful and attentive. Could ask for more. Lovely evening and will come back.

Really enjoyed our meal, very attentive staff, managed to squeeze us in without a reservation. The staff are really helpful, the food was great, nice decor, really family-owned Italian atmosphere.

My son, wife and I ate here on the spur of the moment and were accommodated without question even though they seemed to be quite busy, even on a Thursday night. We ate three courses and the food was beautiful. The service was great too.

Bath is one of our favourite places to visit, it has so much to offer. We enjoyed browsing and shopping and it was great to see so many people enjoying this lovely City.The trip was made even better by a visit to Antica for lunch. It has a great convenient location near Pulteney Bridge. The ambience was excellent and the staff professional and friendly.They have an excellent menu, my sea food risotto was one of the best I have ever eaten.The wine list was comprehensive and well priced.I would certainly recommend this restuarant - enjoy.

Lovely authentic Italian food with great attentive staff especially Nicole who was so great! Would recommend if looking for an Italian restaurant the heart of Bath.

Visited with my wife and didn't have high expectations to be honest. However one of the best Italian meals ever had. Service was excellent and the dishes lovely. Seafood Pasta did best ever had. The Mussel started excellent and pricing spot on for what you get. Will certainly return on next visit to Bath.

My wife and I had a great Italian dinner at The Antica.  The staff were calm, friendly, and hospitable.  The location, a few doors from Pulteney Bridge and round the corner from our B&B, was a great location.  The vegetarian food was wonderful.  Although a little expensive, this is definitely a restuarant I would recommend. 

I booked this restaurant for my girlfriends 30th birthday and it was absolutely fantastic! They gave us prosecco on arrival and even finished the evening with limoncello shots on the house. Definitely felt like we were being looked after and spoilt on this special occasion. Plus the food was delicious so that just topped the evening off perfectly! Thank you very much guys, loved it all!

Excellent meal - our first visit to Antica. Very well looked after by Jeta and Nicole. Altogether a most enjoyable evening.

Lazo, Kate and all the staff were brilliant, the Italian chefs cooked up a storm. Lovely. We went for lunch with my in laws from the Mediterranean.

We recently ate at this place. The pizza was good but the service was rude, brusque and just more rude. The waiters are arrogant and dismissive. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone other than those folks who enjoyed insulting, dismissive waiters.

Every year we visit Bath for a grown up weekend. We stay at the Kennard hotel just a 5 minute walk around the corner.we go to Antica on both Friday and Saturday evenings. we book a specific table in advance and the staff will always do their best to accommodate us.Their food is so wonderful along with their drinks, the staff and management are always friendly and could do no more for anyone.keep it up guys from the Antica, we shall see you next year.

We arrived in Bath after a long day of walking and by chance this restaurant was near where we were staying. We were fortunate to get a table and a very pleasant waiter. Our dinner was excellent. The lasagna was hot and tasty. The pizza was generously sized and good. The mushroom risotto was especially delicious. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

After being let down very badly and late by another restaurant, Antica fit us in for our 60th birthday celebration. Food was excellent, service was great and the atmosphere was perfect. Can’t fault it and we will be back. Thank you for all your efforts to make it a very special evening. Meriel looked after us mostly and she was great.

While everywhere else was booked, the team at Antica managed to squeeze us in and provide an excellent experience. Quality food, regional beers and excellent wines, all served with a smile. Definitely one for another visit.

Genuine Italian restaurant with good, well cooked food but most of all friendly and extremely attentive staff service

The food was great, tasty and well prepared. Our waitress Meriel was excellent, very polite and helpful. We didn't have to wait long for our food and were asked on numerous occasions whether everything was ok. The staff obviously care about the customers satisfaction.

A lovely spot in a beautiful city - and the perfect date location for me and my fiancée! I had a brilliant linguine alla carbonara which was dutifully served up by our amazingly helpful waitress (whose name escapes me). Would visit again - grab an affogato on the way out!

I cannot fault anything about this restaurant. They gave us a table late in the day and were so apologetic that they were busy. I take this as a good thing! The bruschetta and parmigiana ravioli were so so good. If you look at my previous Italian restaurant reviews, they passed the tiramisu test. Excellent. Honesty a really, really great meal. Thanks.

I visited Bath yesterday and wanted to celebrate my daughters birthday in a non chain restaurant . Chain restaurants can be good, but I wanted something a bit different. A friend of mine recommended Antica and so I went with her suggestion. I was so glad I did. The atmosphere was lovely and the staff very attentive. It was great to chat with Meriel , such a lovely young girl/lady who gave us excellent service. The food was amazing , lots of it, and wine list good.Thanks to everyone involved in making the evening special.

We have been back twice during our time in Bath and both meals were excellent. The staff are friendly and efficient always eager to please. Meriel served us both times and was delightful.

We came to Antica for a family meal as part of our wedding reception. We were a party of 12 and the service was still great. Our waitress in particular was very attentive. We also had two young children in our party and the staff were very accommodating. We all had a variety of different dishes, all of which tasted great and there was a good variety for the vegetarians in our party. Great location and atmosphere. Would highly recommend.

Ella and the manager were fabulous, they were very welcoming and the food fabulous. So good we went twice... which we never do. Three different brochette... yummy. King prawns in garlic and tomato... heavenly. I could go on and on... you must go.

We booked this as it came up on best restaurants catering for vegan eateries in Bath on the reviews on trip advisor. Sadly, the food was extremely disappointing. There was very limited choice (2 vegan items) and the aubergine pizza I opted for was very soggy due to the overload of vegan cheese which was piled on to compensate for the 6 minute cubes of aubergine and the slither of onion that were classed as a vegetable pizza. I would have walked out if it had not been so late in the evening to try to find another restaurant. The staff said they would tell the chef but did not offer a reduction on the cost of the meal which was barely touched. Seriously unimpressed.

Antica is a lovely restaurant near Pulteney Bridge. The food was beautifully cooked & presented and the atmosphere warm & friendly. My wife was especially impressed with how helpul they were catering for her gluten free needs due to being Coeliac. Thanks to Nicole & the all the other staff who looked after us so well! Definitely somewhere to revisit.

We were sat inside without a booking which was great of them, they told us how long we had before a booking which was adequate - great communicationStarters we had the bruschetta with goats cheese, peppers and nduja - absolutely loved it, highly recommend that dish. Mains were lasagne - very cheesy (just the way you want it) and mushroom risotto which was Devine. Very friendly staff.Good prices.All in all, 5 star.

We booked a table for 8:15pm and arrived dead on that time. There were empty tables for 2 in the restaurant when we entered. We were greeted by a waiter who asked the time of our booking and when we said it he didn’t even ask our name just very rudely told us it’s a minimum 10 minute wait and told us to go outside. It was confusing as there were empty tables and he didn’t even bother to ask a name or check my booking (and we were there on time!). They then ignored us so we ended up leaving as there was clearly intention of seating us. Really disappointed and an uncalled for rudeness. No point in booking!

A late choice due to delayed arrival in Bath. Good choice of Italian food, friendly staff, and good service

We have a child in a wheelchair & a small 'service' dog and it is literally the ONLY place we visited in Bath that refused us entry because of the 'service' dog so we were forced to sit along a very busy pavement to eat - staff could have helped more (but the food was good!)

Pre booked for our visit to Bath based on previous reviews. We were not disappointed. The food was excellent, the service was excellent very friendly staff, busy but nice atmosphere. The tiramisu was amazing. I would highly recommend a visit.

We booked this based on the 5 star reviews on trip advisor.Sadly the food was subpar.The ciabatta for the bruschetta wasn’t toasted very well,there wasn’t enough olive oil on it,it should have been rubbed with a clove of garlic,but there was raw chopped garlic on it which was unpleasant.The tomatoes didn’t have the flavour of basil.The linguine was just sloppy.Paint was peeking on the walls and the tables were sticky.Seriously unimpressed.The service was good which is why I have given it 3 stars.

What a welcome retreat from a summer storm! Very accommodating of a fussy 10year olds diet, delicious tagliatelle and a very well cooked steak washed down with a lovely in primitivo was all we needed. Served by Nicole who deserves a special mention!

One of the best restaurants i’ve been to. Atmosphere was absolutely lovely and every single waiter was so polite and friendly. Food was absolutely outstanding and couldn’t ask for much better. Definitely will be returning. Recommend to any couples looking for a nice meal out.

I took my mother to Bath for her birthday and chose this restaurant for her birthday dinner based on the rave reviews. I cannot explain HOW disappointed we were- a real downer on her otherwise great bday.If you have tasted authentic Italian food (in Italy or otherwise), avoid this restaurant or try at your own risk.The mushroom bruschetta was subpar- literally two slices of standard baguette style bread with some sloppy mushrooms on top.The broccoli soup was also very standard. Pretty bland and one can definitely make a better soup in 10 mins at home (try Jamie Oliver’s recipe- it’s great!)The mains - pizza was standard and not stone oven (or at least did not seem it), ravioli was absolutely awful and I did not finish it, Alfredo was standard also. While edible, the dishes were so far from true authentic Italian and I am completely shocked at the positive reviews others have given. My ravioli was described as a veg, creamy dish. I was expecting a fresh, light and creamy sauce with ravioli but was met with sloppy and heavy ravioli in a yellow looking, thick, bland sauce - with some lovely chunky, sloppy veg amongst this. Our waiter was pleasant so no complaints there. Although I did find it awkward when I could see all 5 staff members staring at me in my peripheral vision - very unprofessional??We ordered a tiramisu to share, this was pretty sloppy and again not up to standard with good Italian spots in England or Italy. To top it off, I not only mentioned it at the start of the meal to our waiter, I also wrote it in my booking that it’s a birthday meal so we would like a candle brought out. This was totally ignored? I have never experienced this and would have of course been happy to pay extra for such a dessert - no idea why my request was ignored. Pretty awkward to leave a birthday dinner with no mention of the birthday from staff, given the restaurant wasn’t overly busy and I mentioned it twice. Please feel free to follow the positive reviews but I am pretty positive they were written by people who have not experienced true Italian service and food. May I add, the above meal was just under £90… could’ve got better food at Pizza Express for a fraction of the price.Needless to say, will not be visiting again.

This is a good Italian restaurant in a very central location. There is variety on the menu so you can go for pizza and pasta but there are also meat and fish options. The service is good and the food was very enjoyable.

Booked ahead and table ready as advertised. Prompt efficient service. Food and drink all as described. Plenty of flavour. Swordfish a little over cooked. £220 bill felt pricy for the meal although we had enjoyed it.

Highly recommend this restaurant, we arrived and didn’t like the table we were given. They were so accommodating to give us a better table when it became available by the window. Superb food in a warm and friendly setting. Excellent starters; my sea bass (recommended by the owner on the way in) was delicious. Service was attentive and friendly throughout. If I had to find a grumble, then £7.50 for the lowest price glass of red wine is a bit high, but overall a very enjoyable experience and one we will repeat!

Food: Average Italian food overall - both main dishes were unfortunately a bit under seasoned and bland. The starter of bruschetta was good though. Prompt service on a busy day was impressive.Staff: Really pleasant server (?Matthew) who was helpful and attentive. Very disappointed to see all staff indoors not wearing masks. While we appreciate it is no longer a legal requirement it made me, as the customer, feel considerably less safe dining in the restaurant. Having worked as a doctor through the pandemic I am well aware how uncomfortable they can be but in a busy, close proximity, indoor environment the risk to diners and staff is considerable.

Visited without a reservation and the owner kindly accommodated us , place was very busy but very efficient friendly staff dealt with this very well , waiter was knowledgeable about the menu and food was delicious. A nice venue

Went with friends, July 2021. Returning customer, second time I've been here. Had 3-course meal, the standard of all 3 courses was very high, the dessert (chocolate sorbet) was outstanding. The service levels are also very good, another reason for coming back again.

Enjoyed a quick bite on our way home from a holiday in Cornwall. Service was amazing and the food was delicious. I ordered 2 servings of bruschetta as a main and thoroughly enjoyed it. The others enjoyed tagliatelle Bolognese and a pizza.

Just off the bridge, this Italian is a cosy spot to enjoy some great Italian service and delicious food. The cocktails were tasty, the dishes were authentic and the atmosphere was just right. The only disappointing aspect was the changed menu meant there was no Carbonara that I was expecting. The starter bread and ciabatta with roasted peppers were perfect, and the seafood linguine was beautiful. Well worth it.

Excellent late afternoon meal after a day wandering around Bath. We were the only ones there as it was due to close until the evening. Great food, plenty to choose from as a vegetarian. I had the bruschetta followed by aubergine ravioli. Two negronis and the owner even played some Eros Ramozotti for me! Would return in a ❤️beat!

A lovely friendly little restaurant just on the out skirts of town, we were in bath for 3 days and ate here twice. The staff are brilliant, friendly and helpful. As for the food well it was simply amazing well presented and just amazing.

From the moment we stepped in were greeted by owner-manager last night we felt very welcome and love the atmosphere , just after the football game.The food was utterly exceptional , the ingredients were of a high quality .Amazing service by all staff around . Visited specifically because we had such a great meal here last October. Sadly put off by owners over enthusiastic England football celebrations. Having wanted good food and chance to chat the England chanting/singing/asking customers if they were English, was off putting and made us uncomfortable. Enjoyed our main course however but left for dessert elsewhere. Sadly may not revisit.

Can’t believe this isn’t the #1 restaurant in Bath the food and service was top notch. The place was buzzing and we had to wait outside with a beer and a glass of wine while our table was cleared. The head waiter even came out and donated his jacket to keep my wife warm.I had calamari starter and pizza for main washed down with a bottle of Primotivo absolutely delicious.

WE had a family meal here on an admittedly busy Friday night. Firstly , in my view, I did not find the COVID precautions acceptable the tables were too close and people constantly crossing past each other. Secondly the food was , at best average and I would rate it at the very low end of British Italian food. Finally the prices were high -for example a stater of mussels which consisted of a small bowl of mussels in a standard tasting tomato sauce was £11.95.I believe this is a family restaurant and after lock-down I understand they naturally want to recover but we all found the whole experience to be poor.How this can have such a high rating on trip advisor is beyond me!

This is a very good restaurant, close to the Roman Baths and Bath Abbey. The food and service were excellent and we would certainly go back.

Arrived early and took to table with a nice smile & greeting. Drinks was served promptly.Candlelit dinner for my 40th and thank you to my wife. Clean and tidy venue. Starters was mussels for me, nice but very bland. Mains was very good, muscles with chilli sauce was amassing & 1 prawn.Drinks was good, service very good Very pricy for the venue. Thank you

We had a first class evening out at Antica Lovely atmosphere , great ambiance food and service My wife had the Sea Bass and I had the Aubergine, courgette and pepper Pizza Both absolutely excellent. Strongly recommended

Fantastic evening meal. Delicious food, excellent service, and a great atmosphere. It isn’t cheap but for a treat it is well worth the price. Would definitely recommend.

Stumbled upon this lovely Little family run restaurant on our first night. Lovely honest, home-cooked Italian food and really good value. Worth booking if you want a people-watching table out front!

I'm a bit torn because I had a very enjoyable evening at antica. I tried the insalata caprese and the tomato bruschetta and then had the chicken Alfredo for mains and the tiramisu for pud (don't worry i had a helper sharing the food with me!). All of the things I had were perfectly tasty - the starters and desserts in particular. However I think the mains were overpriced for what they were. The chicken Alfredo was perfectly tasty but at the price paid (£16) i would have expected just something slightly more special. Same goes for the penne al normma I tasted (£15).The place is good. Great vibes. Lovely service. Starters and desserts were good. I just think I was expecting marginally more for the price paid.

I was expecting a run of the mill pizzeria so I was pleasantly surprised with the quality and presentation of food! Delicious. Prompt and friendly service. I have given 4* because they had no draft beer that day and mask policy for staff seems to be personal choice and not following COVID regulations.

Found online prior to visiting Bath, this restaurant was fantastic. The menu online gave us an idea about what sort of Italian it was and the process of booking was easy. The food itself was absolutely delicious, highly recommend the arancini to begin, both myself and my husband had pastas and they were yummy. We felt the prices were reflective of Bath city centre and so reasonably priced. Service was fantastic and staff very friendly.Would highly recommend!
