Oh dear I don't know what happened this evening. We waited 50 minutes for food and had to chase. When the food arrived, we were starving. Had we not been so hungry and walked all day we would have sent it back. The ham and eggs were possibly the worst offender. The same corner shop ham I had in sandwiches earlier today not "carvery style" as mentioned on the menu. The eggs were overcooked also. The music was pretty awful. Not sure Barbie Girl gives off relaxed dining vibes. Really minimum effort on the veggie Thai curry which was served with cold rice. Nearly £60 for three meals and sadly not at all worth it.

Review for Monday lunch. This was easily the worst meal I’ve had at a restaurant in some time. My wife, son and I ordered two pints, a Pepsi, a packet of crisps, a Margherhita pizza, spicy chicken burger, rarebit and tomato soup. Literally every single item was clearly cheap frozen food that had been reheated in a microwave. The rarebit was the biggest offender, which was two slices of sandwich bread covered in a gloopy tinned/jarred rarebit sauce, with one corner partially covered in slightly melted grated cheese. Far and away the best food were the crisps as the restaurant had no hand in their preparation. I wasn’t expecting Michelin starred food. But I was expecting food that would have some measurable quality to it. This was literally just food from Iceland thrown on a plate. It’s a perfectly nice pub and a lovely spot for a pint. But if you are hungry, eat literally anywhere else. I’d rather have scrounged crumbs from the boot of my car.

Luckily we had the forsite to book a table on the Friday evening it was very busy which was lovely to see we chose lasagne, wild garlic and chicken pasta and 2 steaks which were the best steak I have ever eaten there was a slight mix up with the pasta dish order not going through to the kitchen soon rectified and complimentary drinks given which was a very nice gesture but the staffs apologies would have been enough each one of us throughly enjoyed our meal and will definatly be visiting again all in all a fantastic pub with lovely staff and fantastic food would highly recommend

An incredible family stay! The staff were unbelievably welcoming, When we arrived, we felt like we were coming home. We stayed as a family of five (2 adults and 3 children - ages 6, 3 and 6 months) and stayed in the two bedroom apartment. We were blown away by the scenery of the beautiful Beddgelert (picture of the view from our apartment included within this review). The room came equipped with everything we could possibly need in the kitchen (coffee machine, utensils, cups, plates). The TV had Netflix and other apps. The master bedroom also had a TV with the same. The second bedroom had a bunkbed with a double bed at the bottom. The children absolutely loved it in there. The baby slept in with us, but we were offered a cot free of charge. The room was equipped with toiletries, bed linen, dressing gowns and towels. We had breakfast and an evening meal, both of which were absolutely brilliant, the best food we’ve had for a long time. We were really taken care of within a restaurant that was dog friendly and extremely welcoming. We intend to come back to this hotel, time and time again. Our eldest child has actually insisted that we moved to Wales and live in the apartment we stayed in! I can’t thank everyone at Prince Llewelyn Enough for the incredible holiday that we have had as a family. It is truly one that we will never forget, and it is all thanks to you. We look forward to coming back to see you soon! If you are looking for a cosy getaway as a family, couple or with friends - this is the place for you!

1 star is too much. Today I experienced the worst service I have experienced in any bar/restaurant. The front of house bar maid was very passive aggressive and rude. The chefs apparently weren’t there at 12 when lunch started and therefore could not be served. I suggest she changes her attitude to improve the overall business and that there are clear times set as to when breakfast and lunch start and end. Also stop blaming customers for mismanagement. The food was also substandard. Much better food and service nearby.

After trying to find a nice cafe to sit in from the rain and grab a bite to eat, we came across this pub and thought it looked very nice and christmassy. We entered the corridor soaked through, and was greeted by a member of staff. I felt that certain member of staff was quite cold towards us in the beginning. It was almost like she thought we were English and judged us straight away. She asked very bluntly "what tier" and "put your mask on" before even welcoming us properly. I then started speaking Welsh and she soon changed her tune. I find it very sad that it took me to speak the language to receive a bit of respect. The food was lovely and the cup of tea was very average and over priced (charged £2.50 for a pot and only received a cup). We also felt we were forced out of there as we had not asked for the bill, and it was brought to us as soon as we had finished our food. I understand times are difficult for all business, as I am part of one myself however, treating customers with disrespect will only cause an increase in loss of business. Lovely looking pub but unfortunately will probably not go again.**one lady was very lovely to us

This was a beautiful day and we saw this restaurant which had an outdoor area with some shade and we were lucky to get the last table there. Obviously things are different due to the Covid situation, but they had done what needed to be done and it worked well. On the first occasion we went there the food was amazing and the staff were brilliant, friendly and we felt welcomed. As a result we went back a second time a few days later, got the same seat, ordered, but unfortunately out of the three meals we ordered mine was not what I ordered. Having said that the meal was good, and yes I could have asked them to change it, but you know this would have taken time and anyway what the hell. Arriving after a long extremely rainy walk, completely wet through, we were welcomed at the Prince Llewelyn hotel and given a table. We were told what was off the menu and that there were no hot drinks. Initially, I thought this meant the coffee machine was not working. Given how wet and cold we were, I asked the proprietor if she would mind if I popped over the road to get a couple of hot drinks to bring in while we waited for our food. She said she did mind very much and if I wanted a coffee I could go over the road and consume it there (in the rain). She explained they had been closed for over 5 months and they were trying hard to get going again (post lockdown). By then I realised that it wasn’t a broken coffee machine but they just don’t sell hot drinks. I explained that some of us did not want cold drinks in the circumstances. Not selling hot drinks is a shame. It is a high margin item and gives customers a wider choice. A kettle is all that is required for tea, coffee and hot chocolate. After I sat down and explained to my family, the proprietor came up and explained it again. I understood her position the first time, so I did not need it saying twice. By coming over and repeating it made us feel most unwelcome. At this point we decided to leave. The menu looked nice and good quality, albeit a bit limited. Interestingly two other families left before ordering anything. The lady was very polite when we left and wished us an enjoyable holiday. How strange that she clearly did not want our custom. We went to the Saracen’s Head and spent £150. They were so friendly. Polar opposites in fact. I have no doubt that the proprietor will respond in a defensive manner to this review, reading what has gone before. I have worked in retail for many years and learned it is so easy to be polite, courteous and give great service. It pays huge dividends in sales, repeat business and reputation. It takes no effort and makes you feel good. It takes a lot of effort to be rude and unwelcoming, makes you feel angry inside and business and reputation is lost. All for the sake of a few quid on a couple of coffees!

I very rarely write a review but I was left a bit shocked after my partner, myself and our young child was shouted at ‘to wait outside’ By the barmaid for entering the pub restaurant. These are covid times so I was trying to show some understanding. However the restaurant backs onto a busy road, there wasnt a clear sign on the closed front door to check the bar queue before entering so I felt very uncomfortable when my young family experienced a raised voice and harsh tone, especially as the waitress (who was very polite and well mannered) got the table ready for us. The barmaid was amenable after I explained this but I and other customers were very embarrassed to witness this and it seemed unnecessary. As a health director with a fair amount of experience in covid I suggest a clear sign on the front door asking customers to look through the window and count ‘x’ amount of customers before entering- this won’t help the likelihood customers are then waiting on an open road outside though, esp if you have young children this is quite dangerous. Maybe loose one outdoor seating where a queue can be formed. All this said it is a v beautiful building, maybe I caught the barmaid on a ‘bad day’.

We stayed in Beddgelert for three days and found the Prince Llewelyn pub to be our favorite place for dinner and drinks. Staff were just delightful, informative and helpful. Especially our server (who's name I am ashamed to say I can't recall) with whom we had so much good conversation and laughter. Tall guy behind the bar was from the US, very personable and took care of our food order on the second night. First night we tried the chicken curry, rice, poppadom and chips. Man, oh man, I love hot curry, and I met my match in this one. Wonderfully flavored, it was very hot, on the verge of being too much. Still, with a few sips of Unicorn ale, I managed to finish the dish and did enjoy it. We also tried the falafel, humus salad wrap. Wonderfully put together and delicious. If you can believe this, during the second day of our stay, we hiked around Lake Llyn Dwyarchen up near Rhyd Ddu and on the way back around the lake on a little road, who comes along in her car and recognizes us, but the gal we had so much fun with the previous night at Prince Llwewlyn. Second night's dinner was the mixed falafel and crispy chicken wrap as well as the shrimp and chips. All well prepared and served with a smile. Get there early each evening if you want dinner. Wonderful location in the old stone buildings along the A4085 road, near the intersection and stone bridge over the Afon Colwyn river.

I booked through Hotels.com to use my Tesco vouchers, but I had reasonable expectations of the accommodation given the full rate of £90 per night. Firstly this is a B&B rather than a hotel like the name suggests but we’d figured that out before visiting. Service was fine when we arrived, the room was one with an en-suite, it had a new shower and toilet but the sink was in the room. The room decor and furniture was tired and like many other reviews have stated, the TV did not work due to a bad aerial. However it was clean and the bed lining was fresh, although the bed wasn’t particularly comfy. The breakfast was lovely and had a great B&B feel to the breakfast room. We didn’t eat in the pub for dinner due to having sold out of food quite early in the evening. Downstairs and the pub (unlike the rooms) seemed to have been recently refurbed and was a fantastic setting. Located in a beautiful village, next to a river and very conveniently located to get around by car. It wouldn’t take much to really improve the experience for guests, so the following should be taken as constructive criticism. For instance the TV has obviously been out of action for a while looking at the reviews and whilst we weren’t there to watch TV, given it has a built in DVD player I would suggest they could have just grabbed a selection of DVDs from a charity shop for a few quid to give people something could put on for those in between times. Second hand furniture could be repainted, and appropriately sized/shaped furniture bought/selected for the room, and a new mattress wouldn’t go amiss! The old wall paper looks like it had been repainted but lighter/fresher colours could have been used to brighten up the room, toiletries could be placed in a basket rather than half used bottles lined up on the window sill, smarter notices in the rooms rather than a laminated white bit of paper with a bit of text, and letting staying guests know that due to the kitchen making everything from fresh, early dining is to be advised. I appreciate a full refurb and everything new is expensive but I think there is quite a few things that could be done in the interim to improve the customer experience. Overall as a place to rest your head it was clean, good location, good breakfast and did the job but don’t expect much more.

Unfortunately that's where the good things ended.Greeted reluctantly by the woman behind the bar, maybe the manager or landlady. My partner and I are from South and Mid Wales respectively. We ordered coffee, in English by the way, and as soon as she heard our accents her attitude became even more unfortunate. I'm not sure of her country of origin."We don't do coffee", ...prolonged pause ....was her unhelpful answer. We asked for some shandy which appeared to be some Herculean task for her and took an inordinate amount of time as she was chatting out back during the preparation. We felt very unwelcome and uncomfortable there, so ordering food was out of the question. We drank up in double quick time and left, not before returning the empties to the bar, which provoked no response except turning her back to me. If you're Welsh, and you sound it, don't bother visiting here, because we won't again. This woman probably will claim that she can't remember our visit, and she probably won't, but we certainly will for all the wrong reasons, and judging by some of the other comments here, so do many others!

A downpour forced us in, 8 adults 2 kids and 2 dogs. All were welcomed. Great selection of drinks. Stayed for food. Good selection plus a specials board. Pub had become busy by then so very suprised by how quickly it came out. Fresh, homemade, piping hot and delicious!

Having stayed over the last weekend I have to say we had a lovely time. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The pictures used didn't do the room justice as it was much bigger than expected. It's situated within a stunning little village, perfect surroundings for us to walk our dog and ideal location to explore Snowdon from. The breakfast was great and plenty on offer.

Came here for a quick lunch but turned out to be far from that. Cup of teas we ordered but didn’t come for 50 minutes. Waited for 45 minutes for 2 cheese and pickle sandwiches,a ham sandwich and soup yet no one told us there was a wait for food until after already waiting 40 minutes. Soup was cold and had a skin on the top and turned up with no warm crusty bread like mentioned on the menu just sliced bread(when we questioned this they said they ran out but didn’t think to tell us when ordering), and the bread on one of the ham sandwiches was left too long in the oven that it had gone way too hard. the pot of tea had 5 tea bags in and was way too strong so we asked for an extra tea pot of hot water which never came. Waste of time and money.

Good old fashioned pub not trying to be anything else. Good beers, and the food was just what my son and I wanted after a hard day’s walking. The curry was definitely homemade, filling and tasty.

Having missed being able to eat here the first evening of our stay (they stopped taking orders at 7pm) we went in good time on the second evening. We had a lovely meal and the portions and service were excellent. The only gripe was that we were told that they had sold out of quite a few options on the menu so we had to change our original order. We did feel this was a bit strange because the choices were not anything that would not normally be kept in.

We dropped in for a beer and decided to stay for a meal. They served good pub grub together with a friendly service. We did return another night at just after 7pm only to see a sign at the bar saying they had stopped serving food which was disappointing.

Excellent choice of beers and an atmosphere that was vibrant. New management in place, who are trying to re-vamp the business and therefore wanting to please. I would highly recommend this pub and will look to stay here for my next visit.

Visited many times while holidaying in Wales. Lovely busy place, great menu. Went in today, completely empty at 1pm. Looked at the very basic menu. Nothing like when we had visited before. No one came to the bar after 5 mins. We walked out and went to eat elsewhere.

As my husband is in a wheelchair I visited this pub in the afternoon to check accessibility of this ‘wheelchair accessible’ pub and when food was served. We spoke to the lady at the bar who said they would be serving from 5. We said we would be back later. We arrived at 7:20 and managed to get the wheelchair through a narrow door by taking the wheel off. No bar staff came to our aid when we were struggling to get through the door and we were eventually helped by a regular at the bar. We settled at the table and I went to the bar to order food and was told they had just stopped serving. I explained that we had been in to check earlier but they had just turned all the ovens off because it was a quiet evening. The chef was still visible in the kitchen. We decided to leave and had to take the wheel off the wheelchair to get out again. I was shocked by the lack of an apology and being blanked by the bar staff even when I was visibly upset. A lady (manager ?) did come and speak to me when my husband was already out the pub and then came out to speak to him and said if he came back in she would sort something out for us - but he had had enough by then of the hassle of having to dismantle his wheelchair to get in and out. Firstly, this pub is not really wheelchair accessible if you have to take a wheel off the chair to get in. Secondly, the bar staff were unhelpful when they saw me struggling and did not really try and sort anything out for us despite me checking earlier in the day when food was served. Absolutely ruined the last evening of my holiday! It is often really tough finding places with a wheelchair and to be treated like this was really disheartening.

We stayed at the Saracens Head Hotel, but didn't eat there because we preferred the choice on offer at the Prince Llewelyn. We had a lovely meal ont Saturday night and so returned on Sunday, albeit a bit late (8pmish), only to find that they had stopped serving food because they had had an unusually busy day and had run out of many of the items on the menu. After seeing our disappointed faces the bar lady offered us cheese boards. These were very generously portioned, with warm bread, crackers, 4 cheeses, pate, pickle, apple and pear. Very lovely!! And so was the rhubarb and ginger gin! Thank you!

Although we stayed at the Saracens Head our own hotel struggled to fit us in for an evening meal so we walked to the Prince Llewelyn Hotel. Service was so friendly and the staff helpful. We ate here during the evening and the food could not be faulted....healthy portions, tasty and very reasonably priced. As I say we didn't stay here but, if the service and welcome we received are anything to go by, next time in Beddgelert the Prince Llewelyn Hotel will be our definite first choice.

Popped in after a walk, really chilled environment, lovely barmaid who was so friendly but the barman/ manager needs to learn a lesson or two from the barmaid! He was surly and broader line rude! The barmaid made excuses that he was just back from a great holiday in Thailand but really if you choose to work in hospitality you should be.....hospitable, surely????

Great place to either sit outside with a drink and watch the world go by or take advantage of the great food on offer. The menu is quite extensive with some good options, the "Chicken Curry" being one of them. Having a dog it was nice to be able to take him inside, although I find Wales very dog-friendly in the places I have visited. Been here before will return on my next visit to Beddgelert.
