We went to the Primrose last Wednesday for an evening meal and had a great time. The food was exceptional, my son had the steak and said it was the best he has had in a long, long time. I had the scampi special which was delicious. Desserts were super (and are currently free on a Wednesday). The atmosphere was lovely and the service was impeccable as always, so friendly and attentive. Highly recommended.

Wow! Amazing - walking in you arrive in a relaxed, warm and friendly atmosphere. The choice wasn't too much ot too little. Staff friendly, attentive but not over the top. Portion size brilliant and the tastes fantastic. Bang bang chicken was bang on and the lamb shank just fell off the bone..... honestly one of the best meals and venues. Well worth the journey from Bangor.

Such a lovely pub! Stopped in Ballynahinch for a wee bite and we weren't disappointed! One of the nicest toasties I've had in a long time! The staff was very friendly and quick and the pub is just lovely!

A friend and I went for lunch on a Saturday and didn't want to leave. No one was breathing down our necks, it wasn't cramped and rushed or noisy even though it was busy and there was someone at the table next to us! We felt completely relaxed and the food was delicious. I got the pastrami and she got the pitta. 10/10. Chips were top notch no need to ask for them to be cooked properly because they were 😂Toilets were pristine. Staff lovely, welcoming and friendly, food was quick to arrive. Would definitely recommend and will definitely be back.

Fantastic food, great setting and wonderful service, hard to beat, carryout service is available if you're not feeling sociable,and now lunchtime opening, has been a favourite of ours for years and never fails to impress.

My wife and I went for Valentines Day for our very 1st time eating there. It was absolutely amazing. We will most definitely be going back. The food, service, and atmosphere was spot on..

3 of us had the sweet & sticky chilli beef 1 fish and chips and all had dessert all food tasty my only fault flat white could have been warmer over all good experience

We had party of ten on Friday night, 3rd November 2023, the best food I ever had, the rest of family also complimented their food. Defo go back again soon.

We went for afternoon lunch and some drinks. Food was nice. Good service. It's like an old pub vibe. Could do with a bit of an upgrade. I'm not sure if it's where we sat but it lacked some music. We will try here again if travelling through or staying near Ballynahinch.

Food was really tasty but quite expensive. My only gripe is the waiting time for food, sure it was near 45 minutes, well on to second pints before it came. Staff friendly.

I visited the Primrose with my friend as her birthday treat Sunday week ago. The food was average as was the service. I fell on my way out from my table and badly bruised my knee and right palm when I tried to break my fall. This was badly dealt with by both waiter and follow up calls by manager. Stating according to CCTV no reason why I had fallen...apart from I seemed to be walking quite quickly? It was 6 steps from my table to where I fell.... No compassion shown towards a customer at all.... After asking for my friend to be reimbursed for her meal on the phone the following day this was not offered by management..(she had to pay for her own birthday meal as I was on a chair with icepack on my leg)...it took 8 days for money to go into her account! Apparently they couldn't find the receipt/card payment for the transaction to enable refund?? A guess for the amount was made by the waiter but when the refund was eventually made it was for the correct amount that was paid? A totally misrun establishment with shoddy inexperienced staff who have no idea what customer service means or indeed how to deal with an injury on their premises... We will NEVER be back!!!

Arrived almost at the end of food service, warm welcome, great range of food choices as well as a specials board. Friday night cocktails are 2 for 1 ! The Prim excel in their cocktail making 🍹

Had the lovely steak meal deal for two for £49, absolute bargain. Lady hostess was excellent.

I got the fish and chips and the chips were cold and greasy, the fish seemed undercooked or frozen as it was still cold as well. The coleslaw was definitely not fresh and the roast dinner we also ordered, the roast potatoes weren’t the nicest. The gravy was also quite lumpy but very rich flavour.

This is a nice restaurant 😁 the suggest the halloumi burger though it was a bit oily it was very tasty! Yeah yeah 100 characters

I gat a 4oz. Burger, which was overcooked tough and oversalted.the accompanying salad was nice, but the chips were cold andnot fresh or tasty. The service staff were very accommodating.

The Primrose never disappoints - great service from when you enter until you leave. Staff take time to explain the menu - rather than like so many that just take an order. Great wines and best of all, the food - maybe the best Scampi we have had - perfect. Busy, you do need to book.

Sunday roast dinner is excellent at The Primrose. Definitely recommend.

Just stopped by chance in Ballynahinch and went into the primrose ... a really good choice ... we had the steak night special deal for 2 ... 2 steaks, a sauce, a side order each and a bottle of house wine ... £49 to my recollection ... steaks were great and staff were attentative ... meal was great.

Such a lovely find! We called in without booking and staff were most accommodating. The food was glorious. The service excellent and professional, yet there was a very homely feel about the place. We will be back! Thank you very much for a lovely afternoon.

Definitely a great spot for a bit of food, went here a while ago and got the salt and chilli chicken, tasted amazing, but I wish there was more of it, seems to be doing renovations on the building all of the time, which is a bit annoying because it looks perfectly good as it is

Service and food were excellent. 3 of our party are gluten free and had 3 different meals. Such a surprise. Staff couldn't have been any more helpful and just really nice. Can't wait to come back

Many thanks again to Kevin and all the staff who helped make our Christmas special again . We choose to have three takeaway Xmas dinners with all the trimmings , collected on Christmas eve, and upon arrival we we greeted with the usual festive cheer 😀. As always the food was delicious and fabulous value for money. Keep up the great work guys , we'll be back again soon 👍.

Stopped here on the off chance of a table. Best decision I made that day!!! Food was delicious 😋 Christmas Dinner for me. Kids loved theirs too pizza and chips A small fish and chips. Desserts were also had and they were lovely. I'll definitely be back and this time I'm bringing reinforcements lol. The place was really busy but the food was excellent which can tend to suffer in some restaurants when busy. The service was very good with regular enquiries if we needed anything.

Nice place but needs to understand what cocktails they are serving. Wife ordered a non alcoholic mojito and received an alcoholic bramble. I wasn't there but heard she insisted it was a mojito. My wife is pregnant lol. Attention to detail with the booze needed

Hadn’t been to The Primrose for many years, but will definitely be returning more regularly. A friendly, cozy atmosphere and a great choice of food - served with a smile. We had the prawn open and the primrose pizza. Generous portions and delicious. Very reasonably priced too.

Had dinner tonight with family for a birthday treat. And it very much was a treat. Food as always was excellent but what really set the evening off was the service. You couldn't wish for nicer staff who went out of their way to make the visit memorable. Five stars isn't enough! Have been using The Primrose for over 45 years and never fails to please but tonight was just extra special. Thanks to everyone.

Called in just on the off chance as we hadn't booked. The staff kindly let us have a table for a few hours as they where waiting in bookings arriving. Service was great, food was amazing and a lovely relaxed atmosphere about the place.

Ordered 3 Sunday roast dinners today, very disappointed. 3/10 to be generous - had takeaway around a year ago and was good! Turkey extremely dry, roast potatoes poor , veg average at best. Would get better from a deli counter in a local petrol station….

Having been here twice already this year I was looking forward to another great meal and service. Up until the the main course was finished it was great. Service and food excellent. Then a member of staff decided to start clearing glasses and all from the table without even asking if we were finished. When I said we were not finished then the whole service seemed to stop. Was really sorry we did not get up and leave as there seemed to be friction with the staff who had been great up until then. Sorry but a great night out fell flat.

The insertion of the 17th OCT past appertaining to the one "DOT" award. The author of the insertion on old "Trippy" (law suits apart) does have perhaps pedigree in two regards. One being---- lineage of visits to many and varied abodes of hospitality premises FACT. Two being-----it is not an unreasonable observation that the majority of the insertions are of a non complimentary genre. The visits to restaurants both licensed and unlicensed from the humble coffee type /style operation to the good restaurants that offer a higher calibre of food stuffs. During the articulated visits, it is if at all e.g. seldom are the washroom facilities aired upon or on the closeness of chariot parking. (an important matter on a cold wet blowy Ulster night particularly if the lady wife has her bonnet sitting well). Yes it has to be acknowledged that upon a visit to some or certain locations the"nosh" can be dire in its totality or in part. Then for example the very good or even pretty good front of house folk are not the culprits at that juncture.They being the first line of troops that visiting patrons encounter. Then there are many ancillary items /matters such as getting that second libation before your meal or"may we have some water please"? so and so on. Then the casting of ones eye around the fabric of the establishment i.e. taking a look up for example to light fittings and perhaps spying dust cobwebs etc and just all those other little bits and pieces that add up to make the good ship xyz run & function. It would be improper to scuttle entirely the paragraphs of the angst in the 17th of OCT input of course regarding the Primrose then again to peruse the contributors other track history so to speak-----well perhaps the jury may be out on that one. Primrose a decently run premises. To date me & mine have found it to be an excellent nose bag establishment.

Went tonight, Wed 1st Dec. Cosy bar restaurant, staff are all friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. As for the food! Wow!!! Christmas menu started tonight. Was amazing!!! Covid status checks in operation. Worked a treat. Highly recommended.

Simply the best vegetarian food we have had in a long time. We had the Mediterranean salad and the beyond burger. Delicious and it actually had substantial protein in it - something that is often omitted in other restaurant veggie/vegan options. Service was great - attentive but not intrusive, the atmosphere was relaxed and Covid precautions were in place to ensure we were safe and had the best experience. We will be back.

Looking forward to a well earned meal out and all I got for my hard earned cash was a raw and tasteless burger at an extortionate price. Wife got a curry which was most likely pinged in a microwave. Should have stayed in and cooked. You think you pay for quality well not here you just pay.

My first visit to the Primrose in Ballynahinch and certainly was not disappointed. Friendly and efficient staff, good COVID measures in place and excellent food of a restaurant standard at reasonable prices. Had the seafood curry as pictured which had plenty of seafood in it....

Was a great Ambassador for this local Restaurant but last 2 times disappointing my meal was at the best cool and not usual standard my partner sent here cod back and when returned the fish was over cooked and rest of sides burnt. TOLD MY daughter and she said her last meal was also disappointing. BOSS MAN NEEDS TO BE BACK IN KITCHEN.

Good country town former “pub pub” to restaurant / top end bar food. Minuscule bar trade one could proffer as opposed to the days of full on smoking aye & driving a four in hand 😜and all that kind of pub trade malarkey. Staff 👍...
