Terrible! No welcome from the two female members of staff. Poached eggs floating in water. Couldn’t eat them. No care as to why our food wasn’t to taste. Cold atmosphere, pretentious and unpleasant! Do not recommend.

I visited roost with my daughter with the intention of having a coffee and then maybe a light lunch, however I went to the counter to order where 2 ladies were preparing drinks for other customers. I stood there for a good 5/6 minutes and during that time had no acknowledgment of my presence. A mere hello or I’ll be with you in a moment is not too taxing for someone with good customer service skills so regretfully I left as I felt awkward and self conscious which was a shame as the cafe had a nice atmosphere and decor. Sadly will not be returning and as we live locally won’t recommend to friends and neighbours.

A nice independent coffee shop that is doing well in this world of global brands. Nice selection of food, though be a little eclectic, cakes are especially nice as well, not as cheap as the global brands, but better quality. Worth stopping off for as easy to find in the middle of the town

We’ve eaten here a number of times since it opened, breakfast and lunch. The food is always freshly prepared and the coffee/tea is good. Staff are always friendly too. There are quite a lot of reviews which state that it’s expensive. In my view the quality of the ingredients justify the prices. Especially given this is a local independent cafe and therefore won’t be bulk buying like chain restaurants can. My only comment, to enhance the atmosphere a little would be to have some background music on.

On a day off and looking for somewhere local for breakfast, a friend recommended this place. The dish I was told to have was the bagel with avocado and salmon. At £10 I was expecting something special. It was well presented and ok but nothing more than that. This is Bagshot, not a deli in Shoreditch and the prices don't match.

We had a breakfast here last weekend as it’s all gluten free. The cafe is clean and well situated in Bagshot with good parking opposite behind the Co-op. We had waffles with blueberry compote a little disappointing as the waffle was bland and perhaps needed a little sugar and salt to improve flavour. Compote was cold and would have been improved with just a few fresh blueberries. Greek yogurt was nice. Tea was served on tray with egg timer for adjusting strength of tea which was a nice touch. All in all we will try it again perhaps a hot breakfast next time

My boyfriend and I have visited here a few times now and liked if from the start, despite the price, that whilst we apprieciate the location and ingredients being sourced locally, there is still no justification for the extensive prices charged - particularly for ingredients in their shop. The amount they ask for pink himalayan salt for example is just astronimical compared to everywhere else you can buy it! That said, as the odd treat if you don’t mind blowing a small fortune on some quirky food thats healthier than a greasy spoon it’s a good novalty and a nice environment. Staff are always friendly.

Had breakfast with family here, coffee was good, food was fresh, staff were lovely. Only thing is food portion is too small compare to the price! For example, an approx £8 salmon on avocado you literally only get some cooked salmon on top of a little crushed avocado, with some salad by the side. Even the plate is tiny. Not the best value that we’d normally get from the price we pay for a £10 pp breakfast.

There’s not another cool cafe like this in the area and they are trying to do something interesting and discerning. Unfortunately, the cooking doesn’t match the creativity and passion the owners provide. Today, we both had the Sweet and Sour Chicken. No doubt it was cooked with care and knowledge. My partner said she loved it. For me, I get it was OK for the target market, but I didn't find it great .... small Chicken (Thigh?) pieces and plenty of Carrot & Peppers. Certainly sweet .... sour?? It was serve with what I think is a bowl of "crumbed" Cauliflower, tossed in warm coconut Oil (or similar). After having been to Thorpe Park the day before, my boyfriend and I decided to get breakfast somewhere local. As we are both vegans, we searched on trip advisor, and to our delight, Primal Roost came up stating it had vegan options. We decided to give it a try. The decor was cute... but one does not simply go to a cafe for the interior design. We looked through the (small) menu and could not see anything vegan...even though at the top of the menu it said the food was gluten, dairy free etc... We went up to the counter and asked if there was anything vegan as their profile on TripAdvisor said there would be... apparently the only thing they had that was vegan was their cookies. We were not pleased to hear that they only thing we could eat for breakfast was a cookie! Also... why does your menu state your food is dairy free when you use eggs? On a positive note... as vegans... we very much appreciate your slightly more ethical approach.

This is an awkward review to write? We called in here for a light lunch. Have to say, the décor is great, toilets spotless, staff very pleasant and friendly. The ordering system seems a little confusing do to lack of a proper menu? That said, they are trying to appeal to an audience that is focused on healthy, fresh, local food. Is that right for Bagshot .... not sure. The tea is quality .... no tea bags. The menu, a little limited perhaps, is better than the usual coffee shop. I had a Sweet Chilli Chicken Wrap, which I found disappointing. Leg meat too. I expected hot (?) but it was Ice cold, with cucumber and cherry tomatoes. My partner had Frittata with salads and bread which was great! Others nearby had the warm dish of the day that smelt and looked great too and Wraps with salads and Coleslaw! Maybe a menu with a full description of what is included may help? Also, the tables are a little cramped once full & we had a fairly long wait. Popped in for something to eat and a hot drink for the first time earlier this week, after finding myself with 90 or so minutes to kill between business meetings.I ordered a chicken chilli wrap and a large white Americano, and was served by a delightfully chirpy and polite young lady.My order arrived within about 10 minutes, with a smile, and was really nicely presented. The innards of the wrap were very tasty, but the only downside - and this isn't the fault of cafe, but more to so with the texture of gluten-free bread products, was the tortilla wrap surrounding it was a bit slimy and tasteless.Just to reiterate, that's a common complaint made about most gluten-free breads, and is not intended as a dig at the cafe owners, as the service was great. My order cost £7.50 in total, but you really do get what you pay for here, as all the food is organic, responsibly sourced and dairy-, grain-, and gluten-free, and is understandably going to cost more for them to source. It was approaching 3pm when I arrived, but the place was still pretty busy - with a mix of yummy mummies and retired folks taking up the tables in there.I still managed to get a nice table to myself by the window. I will definitely return, because I need to try as their cake selection looked amazing and I need to see if the looks match the taste!

It was lovely to welcome another independent business to Bagshot. Roost promises to offer high quality food and drink from carefully sourced suppliers and promotes a healthy lifestyle based on the paleo framework (fresh, unprocessed food). This is a great idea but i'm not convinced this concept offers value for money or a varied enough menu. I went for coffee and granola with compote (adding natural yogurt was an extra £1) the coffee was very good, and the granola was tasty but at nearly £10 I was taken aback and it hasn't spurred me to visit again. The decor was nice but the cafe needed some background music as I spent my meal trying not to listen to a business meeting held on the opposite table.

Whilst sitting there three people walked in and wanted something like a panini which wasn't available and they left. Also a bit of background music would be nice especially if not many customers are in . I like the interior very much, just feel more could be made of it.

Back to try the place for lunch. Outstanding quality food and local roasted coffee. My wife tried the herbal tea which was also very impressive. Bill came to less than £15. Will come back again to try the Salt Beef wrap which the guy on the next table said was really good. Staff were cheery and helpful.

We visited early on Saturday morning and were the first customers of the day. I ordered the spinach and mushroom frittata. It was very tasty with a hint of the coconut oil it was cooked in. I had a banana and date muffin as a chaser and it probably needed to be warmed slightly. Overall, I would recommend this new addition to Bagshot High Street for breakfast or brunch. The coffee is also excellent. Even though this is promoted for it's paleo leanings it isn't hardcore, so don't be put off with the label...

This place is the real deal. My family eat a pretty clean, paleo diet and its fantastic to come somewhere for breakfast or lunch where literally everything on the menu is healthy, carefully sourced and delicious. I come here for coffee and baked goods at least twice a week and lunch at least once. I love the soups (especially now that the weather is cooling off!)I can give my son all the food on the menu confident that it's nutrient-dense and largely organic. I usually get a muffin or piece of cake when I'm stopping in for coffee. It's so great to not have to abstain (as I do at pretty much every other cafe) or ask tiresome questions about the ingredients. Not the place to go if price is your only concern, but definitely worth every penny.Warning though. Their coffee will spoil you for Costa, Starbucks et al. I hardly go to any of those anymore when out and about because they don't come close.Their pantry is great too. Full of ingredients to make your own primal dishes and healthy snacks on the go. The owners seem really knowledgeable about their products and are clearly passionate about the healthy, paleo menu.I hope they open one out by Reading soon!

I had lunch at Primal Roost today. I had the pulled pork wraps with Coleslaw which was fantastic. It is so difficult to find somewhere with decent healthy options these days so I am really happy that this is on my doorstep.

At last some good quality food, coffee and tea.. I reckon its worth paying a little more to support a team that believe in the quality and provenance of the food we consume.. Well done ...

So great to find somewhere serving real food! The wraps were excellent, as was all the food we ordered. The most amazing cake that you wouldn't know didn't have grains in it! And coconut milk lattes! Yum! I only wish I lived closer. The staff were wonderful - keeping an eye on my friends baby so we could catch up! What more can you ask for?

We visited Primal Roost a week ago and were impressed. The place is nicely decked out, relaxed with comfortable chairs. Good to see a nice level of trade too for an independent business. We came for a light lunch and were hoping to grab something at the Village Cafe, but it closes early on a sat. Having read around Roost we thought we would give it a go.For transparency we eat partly primal at home so know about it and the increased costs - therefore were not surprised to find the costs higher than other cafes. The coffee was great - really good, (self confessed coffee lover this end) so big marks there. Our Daughter had an enormous chocolate cookie, which she loved and wolfed down.We both had the stew of the day with cauliflower rice. It was a good size for lunch - to others it might seem on the small side, but with primal eating you tend to get fuller due to a different carb:protein mix.We could have done with a larger portion of the cauli rice and the chilli (stew of the day) was lacking in vegetables, but the flavour was yummy.Yes - it was more costly than going to a chain cafe, but not really by much. They also have a great selection of primal products, making this a destination place. We will be back, and with all at Roost well.

Two soups and the 'stew of the day' came to over £20 and that was without drinks. When the food arrived it was hugely disappointing. The soup was okay but pretty tasteless. The 'bread' was over seeded (caraway?). The stew (ham hock, with kale and onion) was outrageously overpriced. As others have said about this place, it was heavy on veg (overcooked and bland) and contained very poor quality meat. The staff came across as patronising and rather preachy. My mother came away feeling more hungry than when she entered and is now feeling decidedly ill. It is possible to eat healthily and not get ripped off, so I think we'll be looking elsewhere - or doing it ourselves for a fraction of the cost.

About the only good thing to say about Primal Roost, Bagshot is that the decor is OK. The food was tasteless and expensive and the staff proselytising and patronising. Someone needs to tell them that average life expectancy on the original paleolithic diet according to Wikipedia was 33 years compared to the world average in 2010 of 67.2 years. It's not hard to see why. We will never go back.

Having been to the open day we ordered a hot choc being £2.50 which came with a tiny bit of cake thinking iy was steel it must be good at that price. We walked to my car and drove off then to fisover that there was no chocolate in our hot chocolate . Too late to do anything about it. We went back last weekend with 2 friends only to discover that they sold out of everything and could only offer us a salad st £10.50. No thanks so we left

My Mum and I dropped in to the opening yesterday as I had seen Primal Roost being advertised in the local paper. We don't have food intolerances but are both healthy eaters and keen cooks therefore were interested to learn more about Paleo recipes and what the cafe provides. We were not dissappointed! I took full advantage of all their free samples and everything was delicious (Primal raw bars, smoothies, mini coconut muffins, pumpkin soup, olives, kale crisps - to name a few!).They have a fantastic range of ingredients for purchase; we bought the Toasted Pecan and Honey Granola, as well as a bunch of Primal Hazelnut & Raw Cocoa bars. We also bought the Practical Paleo recipe book by Diane Sanfilippo which has so much useful and insightful information as well as delicious healthy recipes. The staff were very friendly and knowledgable and the cafe had a fantastic atmosphere; I have already arranged to re-visit next week with a friend who has many food intolerances and cannot wait to try their menu. The only downside to Primal Roost is that it's a shame it isn't bigger with some big comfy chairs or a sofa.

My wife and I are on a bit of a health kick and trying to loose a bit of weight, and thought that this as it is in the same village as us would be a good idea to visit, The cafe it self is very neatly decorated and clean, but i came away from visiting here very disappointed, My Wife order butternut squash soup, and i had a red thai curry, the total cost of these two items was £24 - I nearly passed out at this i mean how much does it cost to make soup, I understand that they try and use the best ingredients but seriously its not that expensive to eat Healthy, The Soup when it came looked ok by was very watery and lacked flavour, the "Chicken" Thai curry was loaded with veg, but i did manage to find two very misrable bits of chicken hidden in it. I know it is a healthy option but by eating less doesnt make it healthy, both choices came with bread, and i use the term loosely as it was only a single square inch or bread that really served no purpose. I am sorry to say that i will not be going back to Roost, and i will be very surprised if it is still there in a years time, too expensive, only a few tables very expensivly decorated for what it is, I just dont think they have done their home work - maybe if it was in central london it would survive, it's just a fad, once that fad has passed and most do what are they going to do

I went yesterday with my Mum for lunch. I am around 80/90% paleo and it suited my needs perfectly, not having to worry about what the foods contained. My Mum isn't at all paleo and still very much enjoyed it. We both had the ham hock stew and it was lovely, very filling and worth the price we paid. Mum enjoyed the Americano she had and she is fussy with her coffee so definitely a thumbs up for that. It was nice to have a selection of herbal teas to try and not the good old Twinings teabag you can buy anywhere, I had the citrussy one and it was lovely and different to anything I've had before, the 3 stage egg timers are a lovely touch! :)Another plus point is that they sell many paleo/primal snacks and goodies, things that are not particularly easy to buy in the UK.I'm definitely looking forward to going back soon.. I may even go on my own and then I can have a browse of the great selection of paleo books they have for customers to read.

I read earlier reviews before my visit and noticed how polarised they were. Now I understand. The food here is for the health conscious. It will appeal to those who are weight watching or have food allergies/intolerances. Everything is beautifully presented but the accent is on portion control ! Fresh organic food and good service cost money so soup and coffee for two cost £17.I look forward to visiting again but if you want cheap and filling there are other Bagshot eateries that will suit you better..

I really liked this coffee shop. The healthy concept is right up my street. It was so nice to have a proper cup of tea and a cookie and know that my treat is not packed with rubbish. The lady behind the counter was extremely friendly and took time to make sure we felt like valued customers. I don't live in Bagshot anymore and rarely return, but I would certainly take a trip back to Bagshot just to go there.I am most certainly one happy customer.

When you are out and about it is virtually impossible to find food and drinks which aren't loaded with chemicals and sugar. I went along with two of my sons (one of whom is NOT a fan of healthy food) and was wondering what there would be on the menu we could all enjoy. My son had the waffles with maple syrup (apparently they were gorgeous) and I had the soup and mixed salads. My other son had the brownies. We all agreed that the food was really, really tasty and good value given the quality of the ingredients and the fact that it is all home cooked rather than mass produced in a factory. If you are looking for burger and chips for a fiver this isn't the café for you but if you and your family like to eat really delicious food, beautifully presented, in a very cool environment this it the place for you!! PS try the great teas too-the mint is highly recommended

Was excited to hear about the opening of this cafe serving healthy foods....so went to try their breakfast. Very limited choice, ordered a portion of frittata (served only partly warmed), a portion of waffles (heated, not freshly made) with yogurt and a small coffee. The cost - 14 Pounds. Whilst understanding that healthy ingredients costs a bit more this cost is ridiculous and overpriced to say the least. It is after all a cafe, nothing fancy.

The venue looks great but it was very dissapointing. The Thai Stew did not taste bad but was not great, lacking imagination and just not enough. It was like a tiny bowl of soup and for a dish advertised as a Thai Stew, it did not deliver. To add to this it was luke warm. I had to go home and make myself lunch which is why I went out.

Run by 3 very happy ladies, Primal Roost is a new healthy eating establishment, but they also sell produce that is healthy too. Enjoyed the food very much and the coffee was great. I bought a jar of Coconut Jam to take away. My advice is give it a try, but don't buy the jam as I don't want them to run out before I get back there. Evry good, well worth a visit.

I’ve been here lots of times before for coffee and cake with my daughter, the staff have always been polite. There are new members of staff that are severely lacking in customer service skills. Please take the time to retrain these people there was a female person on the tills today 15.01.2023 that was blatantly rude and extremely unhelpful. If she’s there when I visit next time I’ll have to go to another Costa.
