Portree Hotel Restaurant in Highland

Good foodd, but the seats and flooring is worn out at the beginning of the season. Surely you can do some maintenance over the quiet winter months?

We had an excellent meal, with soup of the day (leek and potato), side salads (with a variety of veggies), and the salmon, which we shared. Everything was delicious and portions were large. Prices are reasonable. Service was friendly and helpful. We made reservations weeks in advance, so it would be wise to reserve.

Basic but charming hotel. No lift so be warned, especially for tired legs after hiking on the island. The room was pretty small it must be said but was clean and cosy. Definitely could be more sound proof but didn't stop us getting any sleep! Decent selection for breakfast. Staff were pleasant and accommodating. Very centre of Portree so close to everything you could need.

Average gastro pub style. A bit mixed in service and food. ‘Gravadlax with sourdough’ was smoked salmon with supermarket bread. Decor a bit tired. Ok for a quick bite to eat.

Only had one meal which was Breakfast, which to be honest was awful, had Eggs Benedict and ne watery egg with a very small amount of ham on a stale scone, which was really disgusting and inedible, if that’s the best Scotland can offer, heaven help us!!!

A very pleasing room (not massive but big enough) and en suite with quality toiletries and towels. Good selection on the menu. I opted for beef cheeks followed by a sticky toffee pudding. Great local ales too. A very central hotel and not really too far from anywhere on the island of Skye.

We had dinner there. The food was good. Especially the highland beef burger, but we had to order the drink twice (Cider) and it seemed like a clear one, we didn't like it at all. On the other hand, the staff did not seem to be on their best day. They could have sat us inside which was very cozy, but they sat us at the entrance.

We went to dinner, just the food. But the staff was very rude, it seemed like we were bothering them and I even noticed that they had put us away from the premises. I will not repeat.

Been here couple of times as I live locally. Food has always been really good.Never let’s you down. Reasonably priced as well. This time I had cold smoked salmon on top of toasted bread and cream cheese, such a tasty starter.Pork chop for main course which was so good. Good cocktails as well and friendly service. Will be back!

The food was good and arrived promptly, but as usual the service lets this place down. The staff member brought the drinks to the table but just put them down and walked away without a word. We watched a customer approach a member of staff to ask if they could order, as they had been waiting some time. The member of staff said that someone would come and get the order soon but that they were-short staffed. No apology. However, we'd all been sitting listening to three members of staff chatting at the counter for at least ten minutes prior to this.

Such a good find! This place offers a great deal of gluten free options. Nicely priced and fuss free. Service was good and we didn’t wait long for food.

Service was good, but seating could do with a refresh. Food we ordered was mixed - the specials were very good (fishcakes) but the normal menu (burgers) were mediocre. We were seated right next to the bar.

This spot is good for a casual dinner out. not great for solo eating. but my fault for not reserving. the food was average to good! and customer service was good! dessert was a bit overpriced? it was good tho.

When you first walk in, the atmosphere is very off putting. Plain decor, small tables close together, but not in a fun way like a real pub. So we’re were Leary of what the food would be. The food was excellent. Everyone enjoyed the dinners. We came back the second night. Excellent pork chop.

This is a great spot for dinner in Portree. The food was great and the location is central in town.

Arrived at the bar with no reservation but we’re just looking for a table for an hour or two for a couple of drinks. Staff were able to squeeze us in before other guests arrived in one of the lovely greenhouses outside. The service thereafter was faultless too. Next time we’re in Skye we plan on staying at the hotel and dining too!

The food was amazing and the drink was quality. And the outside drinking provision with greenhouses complete with heaters and speakers were a better response to mandatory outdoor drinking than anywhere I've seen. The only downside was the interpretation of the covid rules which meant you had to book for 2hr slots and were pressured constantly to order more food and drink. The atmosphere should have been more relaxed as everything else was set up for it.

Stopped in here for dinner and drinks a couple of times on our recent trip to Skye. They had extensive gin & whiskey lists and the food was absolutely delicious. All of the staff were very friendly and attentive!

We were looking for lunch in Portree and wanted to get out of the rain so we popped in here. The staff were very friendly and there was excellent social distancing measures.We ordered the croque madam and haddock brioche. Both were delicious and filling. The haddock was beautifully cooked and the brioche bun was excellent. It came to £23 for 2 drinks and 2 main meals. A bargain for what we got!The only downside to this place was that it wasn’t very warm inside. Other than that I would definitely recommend for some good pub grub.

Mi novio y yo tuvimos la suerte de conseguir una cápsula en el último minuto, que fue genial y muy acogedora. El entrante de salmón era genial y el bistec especial fue maravilloso. Nuestro lado de hongos salió tarde (sucede) pero valió la pena la espera y los camareros se disculparon tanto que les dieron gratis y mi postre, que también estaba delicioso. Muchas gracias!

Dined second night of our stay. Booking is a must during COVID. The waitress was lovely. Sorry never got her name but she was very attentive and knowledgable. 😊 Food was lovely. Scallops special was exceptional. Thank you. We would definitely return.

Fantastic pod outside and the food was top notch! Staff all friendly and welcoming! Went twice and had it not been fully booked would have went again!

Tuvimos deliciosos pasteles y café aquí en una parada rápida de refrigerios alrededor de portee.Habíamos reservado una pequeña cápsula afuera. Fue muy agradable. Hay un ventilador y un calentador además de música si lo desea. Son como pequeños invernaderos. El único problema fue que nos olvidaron y no vimos a nadie durante al menos 15 minutos y lo mismo cuando queríamos pagar. Podríamos habernos ido fácilmente porque lo dejamos a nuestra suerte. Posiblemente porque al final teníamos razón, quién sabe. Todavía volvería, el café y los pasteles eran encantadores. Todo en su lugar también para Covid. Me sentí muy seguro.

Cracking menu, reasonable prices and good staff. We hadn't been to Portree before so picked this and took a bit of a chance but everyone in our group enjoyed the visit. Recommend it for sure.

Stopped off after a long day of sights and walking with the kids, staff were really friendly and explained how the place was operating during Covid with one way systems etc. The food was very good, lots of variety on the menu and well priced.

The food here was excellent, so well cooked and extremely tasty. It really was spot on! We waited just the right amount of time between courses and the staff were very attentive.They worked really hard.

We initially just popped in for a drink but after seeing the food we had to eat there. The staff were, without exception, polite, very friendly and incredibly helpful; nothing was too much trouble and the food was excellent. So good we booked again!

Dropped in for lunch on a day trip to Skye and left totally unimpressed. The staff are very unprofessional and hang around the bar giggling and being overly friendly with each other. The customers are not priority for this "team" and they could all benefit from some hospitality training. The food could only be described as mediocre and the soup was literally a tin of tomatoes with some tasteless veg thrown in. Bland Macaroni and cheap catering style chips. Absolutely no imagination or presentation. I cannot recommend this venue.

Had to wait a while as they didn't take bookings and it was very popular. The new glass house pods outside look amazing but unfortunately were full. We were sat upstairs and it was nice to be in a room with no TV or music overlooking the bay. The staff were friendly and the wine was nice.

Impressive covid-secure set up and a delicious lunch in a greenhouse overlooking the square. No need to worry about the rain. Delicious soup, fish and chips and burgers. So good we went two days in a row.

My family all enjoyed our main courses and we had different meals. The 4 sticky toffee pudding also went down very well. The restaurant are handling the current restrictions well and it is necessary to book, there were 3 groups in front of us without bookings who didn't get a table. Service for drinks could have been slightly better but it wasn't a big issue.

Just back from a meal for my birthday and I literally haven’t a bad word to say other then I could of eaten it all over again! It was the best meal I have had in ages. The pork belly was delicious and the sticky toffee was even better! Thanks for a lovely evening

Weren’t even planning to go here but couldn’t get in anywhere else. We got a seat in one of the outdoor greenhouses almost immediately. We went expecting pub food and it was as good as I’d expect it to be and at a reasonable price. The service was really fast and the staff( a young guy and girl served us) were all lovely and chatty. Probably the best service/ all round dinner experience of our whole highlands trip.

It was my daughter's birthday dinner. Staff were very attentive, food was excellent and the beer was really tasty. This restaurant has also taken all the covid-related precautions yet still retains a pleasant ambience.

Very busy place, we went without a booking and they managed to squeeze us in. Blade of beef and chicken main were both great! Covid protocols being adhered to. We did feel slightly rushed at the end of our meal, after mains and not wanting desserts we were given check and pressured to pay and leave straight away, don't think this was intentional. Staff also having very loud conversations at bar area about a customer who was 'barred' - didn't find this very professional. But overall food was great and service quick.

just had food and drink and the food is amazing, my husband had scallops from the specials with a side of breaded mushrooms and I had corn fed chicken breast with haggis, absolutely gorgeous, staff are very welcoming and great hospitality, sat outside next to the pods, we were not in a pod as due to the weather, thought it would be too hot, however sat at one of the tables with an umbrella, perfect

Good solid pub food, a little plain and interior not really welcoming. Prices about right for the kind of place and and interior is ok, just all a little plain and not cosy.

Staff were friendly, food was really delicious and they had strict COVID measures with partitions almost between each table and the other indoors and with glass cabins outdoors. Their burger was really a lovely gourmet one and their blade of beef was delicious. They have a kids menu as well with nice choices. Two parkings are 1 min walking distance from there which are free after 6pm.

I had dinner with my family in one of the outside pods (greenhouse). This was a different, but enjoyable environment with a heater and fan included within it. The service was good and the staff friendly. The food was very good, the slow cooked beef, knockie and steak burger went down well. I would certainly recommend dining at the Antlers if you visit Portree.

We made a last minute reservation and were so grateful we did! Not only the Cuisine is offering the freshest products, cooked in a perfect way- how oh how can starters, main dishes AND desserts be all so good?-, the service is amazingly caring, smiling and professional. This team definitely has the skills AND the attitude, which made us feel like there is no Covid, no situation, no worries... Even though all sanitary measures are taken and duly respected- well done for the outdoors cabins that look very nice-.We, at last had a good time in a restaurant, how not appreciating this? I want to start with the positive, some really nice food was served, and the waiter was also a positive experience. On the negative side, then the music was too loud, and that's why there was a lot of noise in there.

Arrived around 9ish into Portree on a tour of the highlands and found Antlers happy to accommodate us, the food was lush and service very friendly, the bar is separate from the restaurant and can be useful on football nights. The Fish and chips was melt in the mouth absolutely stunning and the home made chocolate Eclair dessert a delight.Visited on the second night for a coffee and again the place was accommodating and friendly, highly recommend.

If u’re into puds this place takes some beating(see photos). Starter of Haggis, Neeps and tatties tasty. Lamb lovely. Place mobbed. Menu a “something for everyone” without being suspiciously extensive. Staff friendly.

Had a lovely meal & drinks here. Good portion sizes & very reasonable prices. Friendly attentive staff. Quick food service. Fun atmosphere with local musicians playing in the bar too.

I regularly eat here whilst in Portree for business, but for this review I was on holiday with my wife. We had dinner here for three of our five nights, and it is always best to reserve a table. The food is consistently great and the staff are very friendly and accommodating.

Booked in here after a very wet afternoon walking. Booked at hotel reception and glad we did as it was really busy in the evening when we arrived. Food good, service good, live music excellent

Die Bar hat wirklich Charme. Das Personal ist super freundlich und das Essen total lecker. Die Preis-Leistung stimmt einfach komplett. Wir haben uns für einen Burger sowie Nachtisch entschieden und was sollen wir sagen? Wir haben noch nie so einen leckeren Schokobrownie gegessen. Total empfehlenswert!!!

4 adults and 5 children, there was something on the menu for everyone! A little bit expensive but the portions were large so it made up for it. We’re thinking of going back again during our stay!

Ate here twice during a week stay in Portree and both times were fab. It’s a popular place, very busy, but the staff are great at managing the turnaround of tables. It’s also doggy friendly and the staff are great with your dog.

We spent 2+ weeks in the UK and Antlers had by far some of the best food. We came back two nights in a row because the service and atmosphere was so friendly as well. HIGHLY recommend, we managed to find some seats at the bar, but they take dinner reservations as well. This is a more laid back atmosphere where it was almost family style in the bar area. I got the Slow Cooked Blade of beef with sides both nights.

Stopped in for dinner one evening. Both me and my significant other ordered the aged beef dish with mashed potatoes. Would highly recommend, wish the portion size was bigger it was so good! One of the best meals we got in Portree.

Service is pretty good. Mussels and tomato is amazing. But the sauce of it (pan baked salmon) is too salty for me. Ale is also good.

After hiking for most of the day, my sister and I were HUNGRY..... we wanted an early dinner and most places weren't open yet. Fortunately, the Antlers Bar & Grill was open - and the food was so good. Good enough I wrote myself a note to remind me to write a review when I got back :)

Staff were friendly. Prices were higher but its a hotel restaurant and the food was good. The lamb dishes and the gnocchi were great. The mussels special was alright. The mussels were fresh but the cream sauce could have been more flavourful.

Upon arrival on a cold November Sunday morning we discovered that the Antlers Bar & Restaurant was only open for guests staying at the Portree hotel as it was early.

Ottima selezione di birre e Whisky. Consigliato.

Visitamos el hotel Portree un sábado por la noche para pasar la noche y comimos en su restaurante, que es el Antlers. Estaba ocupado pero la recepcionista nos acomodó. La comida era excelente. Un Lagavulin de 16 años fue un aperitivo de bienvenida antes del eglefino y la sopa de papa seguido de la deliciosa pizarra de carne cocida a fuego lento con puré y repollo. Mi mitad mejor tenía sopa de lentejas picantes seguido de los ñoquis con tomate, espinacas y pimiento rojo. El postre era helado casero y para la señora, pastel de manzana y crema pastelera. Todo era casero y casero. No es de extrañar que el lugar estuviera ocupado; ¡los lugareños sabían dónde comer!

Mi compañero y yo nos quedamos en Sconser e hicimos el viaje a Portree tres noches de nuestra estadía para comer en Antlers. Excelente comida casera, la cuchilla de carne cocida a fuego lento era excelente, repollo y tocino, lubina entera, panceta de cerdo. ¡Exactamente lo que necesita después de un largo día de caminata fría y lluviosa!

My daughter and I had a great dinner here while staying in Portree. Definitely book in advance - saw others turned away or asked to wait with no reservations even though late in the season. They also said they would give our table away if we were more than 10 minutes late. Staff was friendly and helpful. Didn't feel crowded with other diners.

We loved our young waiter at this restaurant able to suggest good whiskies. Great food and atmosphere. Good desserts.

Intentamos reservar en varios restaurantes en el último minuto y nos rechazaron. Mi esposo caminó calle abajo y entró a Antlers. Pudimos conseguir una mesa. Estuvimos encantados con nuestra comida de principio a fin. Teníamos Venison Pie, y fue excelente con papas fritas maravillosas y verduras muy frescas. ¡Nos alegramos de haber sido rechazados de los otros lugares!

Si va a estar en Portree, le recomendamos encarecidamente que haga una reserva para la cena. Hay muchos visitantes y no tantos restaurantes. Dicho esto, nos quedamos muy satisfechos con Antler's Bar & Grill. Como dice el título, el Beef Blade es excelente. Esta es una cena más informal que elegante; El personal fue amistoso y atento.

We stopped in for drinks one evening and were eyeballing the fish and chips at the table next to us and decided on a lunch stop the next day. They did not disappoint! Also had the fish chowder which was amazing! Great service too!

Had sirloin steak, cooked to perfection. My wife had fish and chips - it looked more like moby dick than fish.

This place has been excellent for us, two nights in a row. Last night we arrived in Portree very late, and wanted some food to go, and while they could not accommodate us they told us where we would be able to get take away food. So we came back here tonight, and had a wonderful dinner. Thank you so much, to staff and the chefs for the wonderful food and evening! Excellent in every way! And thanks to our waiter, young Archie. He could not have been sweeter!

We arrived from glencoe and headed for something to eat. We dropped into this restaurant just before all the tour buses arrived.

I was recommended this place for lunch today with my two grandparents. When we entered the building The receptionist did not even bother to look up from her cup of tea to greet us. We waited for a couple of minutes next to the please wait to be seated sign and were shown to our table in a fairly half-assed fashion.

We went here with a big wedding group on everyone’s arrival to town. If paying at the bar, cash is only accepted; cards are accepted in the main restaurant. Friendly bartenders offered service with a smile; we enjoyed some charcuterie boards and chips.

Zero stars. Terrible service at lunch time. Ordered fish and chips and a coke. Never got my food after 30 min wait. Got up and left.

This was an opportunity drop in, having looked around Portree for quarter of an hour and found little else. We were quickly sat down and friendly helpful staff took our order. My 'blade of beef' was awesome and my wife's venison similar. This was a delightful surprise and I thoroughly recommend it.

We found the Antlers early one evening and got a table right away. Within 30 minutes it was crowded. The serve was superior and the food very good. Glad we ate there and would make reservations the next time!

one thing we learnt about portree you have to book your meals before you go. we couldnt get in anywhere but this lady must of felt sorry for us and we got a table for our 2nd night there. but still had to wait, which was ok as they got us a seat away from all the chaos. the service was very good and so was our meals. went away satisfied with full bellys. the lady in charge looked worn out and i would say from all the people they have to turn away and them getting angry. but i think when people in portree who own accommodation have to tell there visitors that they have to book their meals before they come. we didnt know and most other people didnt either. how would we ?

The vibe was pretty good. The beers were cold and flavorful. Although it was pretty packed an we had no reservations, we found a table at the “bar area” and were able to sit very fast. The meats were ok and the service is good

It was our first night in Portree and unfortunately there was a music festival on, we tried to book a table but they don't take reservations. We went in early but it was already full of revellers a very nice young Lady told us to get a drink and she would call us when there was a table. The bar was that crowded it took forever to get served and no seating, again the nice Lady put some seats for us in the corridor away from the bar. Unfortunately we had to wait an hour for a table. once there we got served pretty quick and the food was good.One thing I would have to say as we sat down there was a family who had finished their meal and just having a drink and chatting. When we left they were still there with no drinks just chatting and other Customers where being turned away not really very good.
