Porterhouse Pub in City of London, Westminster

This Irish pub has numerous floors and mezzanine levels all lined with numerous display shelves of bottled beers. My airline crew absolutely loved the place, particularly the live music and the U20 rugby on telly.

Great selection of beer and great atmosphere. Quite a big place with plenty of seating. The Oyster Stout in particular was a highlight

A great place - until they start live music. If you’re female - give up and leave at that point. Everyone else is. You can’t hear (no one can) but as a female you also can’t speak. Don’t bother.

Great interior , friendly bar man from Tipp but the chicken Supreme was as dry as ...... Great beer selection but skip that 20 quid dried up chicken. Did complain to your man from Tipp. Am paul from Hong Kong .

As a Londoner and someone whose been frequenting Pubs for 20 years+ it pains me to say that the service received in this pub was by far the worst I have ever encountered anywhere in London or beyond. The Australian (possibly Kiki) barmaid upstairs on the 10th of Feb was the single most abrasive server I've ever met (I have spent 15 years working in hospitality roles in London) and there was no excuse for her obnoxiousnous. (Being Australian isn't an excuse..) My first encounter involved her informing me I needed to utilise please and thank you and beyond that she frequently advised our group we needed to MOVE to allow glasses to pass which of course we duly obliged. The highlight of the night was her flipping her lid belowing from the bar that she had "TOLD US TWICE ALREADY TO MOOOVE" at which point her colleague attempted to calm her down. As a hospo veteran I appreciate we all have off days but all be told her level of abrasiveness belong nowhere near the service industry and due to her behaviour alone I wouldn't recommend anyone ventured beyond the doors of the Porterhouse. For what it's worth, every other member of staff including her manager passed without issue so she only knows what the problem was...

Popped in on our way to the tube. Had researched the top Irish bars and this popped up. Very big but worth the effort but despite Irish memorabilia didn’t seem to be Irish at all in relation to the feel of the place. No traditional Irish music either but the live band were good doing modern covers in the basement bar. So would recommend if in London.

Accidentally dropped a glass which I cleared up myself and for which I was very sorry. Do not appreciate being escorted off the premises for an accident and being called “too drunk”. Used to be my favourite pub and now it clearly isn’t due to its uncaring security staff. Cannot fault the bar staff at all as they were amazing, as always. Won’t be returning due to the vicious and accusing nature of the people they hire for security. Go after the real villains and stop victimising

Had the roast dinner. Meat and veg was well cooked. The roast potatoes were a different story. Do not advertise crispy roast potatoes if that’s not what you serve. If the potatoes were crispy I would have given a higher rating.

Always loved The Porterhouse; a great location, with good pints and tasty pub grub. As it’s January, the place is going through a well needed refurbishment - so wasn’t busy mid-week, and quite chilled for an evening meal with a beverage. Look forward to seeing how it looks post the changes etc

This is a great spot for games on TV (as opposed to the Canadian place that has hockey, hockey, and hockey reruns on all opening hours. Food was above average, the bartenders were great, and we met a fellow Chiefs fan, who was from Australia. I recommend this place.

My husband and I stopped off with our dog so were only allowed in the outside seating area but that was fine. It was quite chilly but the tables near heaters were taken - luckily we and dog were wrapped up. A bottle of house red was £26. There was a nice atmosphere in the garden and we enjoyed our drinks.

Company do free bar that can be difficult to manage managed with ablomb and smiles that’s not normal in the west end bloody lovely

The pub inside is absolutely stunning decor wise and the drinks choice is tremendous. If we had more time, i'd have had a few more. Next time. A massive shout out to the superb barmaid for helping us out massively. My disabled partner needed the toilet, but we tried to enter the main entrance which isn't wheelchair accessible so we turned away. While i was trying to find somewhere else on google maps, she very kindly came outside & offered to open accessible doors down the alley. Lifesaver ! We popped in for a toilet break and a couple of drinks, but i'll one hundred percent return because of how helpful she was. Thank you ever so much for caring, you saved us so much hassle and potential embarrassment you gem. For any management that want to pass on my thanks or a wee bonus, this was at 2.30pm on 23/10/23. The barmaid i'm talking about was training a Scottish girl from Stirling on the till. Thank you

Always a great pub in Covent Garden. The security are friendly and the outside area is very pleasant. Inside its huge, with a great selection of ales and beers and friendly staff. By the standards of the area, its even not badly priced. Always a pub worth visiting.

We went here because of previous reviews but also because the football would be showing. We were directed downstairs where there are televisions and it seems a projector for bigger sporting events. We did have to ask about 4 times to get the football on as some staff couldn't do this and only the Manager who was busy at the bar upstairs. Eventually someone did put it on, which was appreciated. The food was excellent, we all enjoyed our meals and thought the value was good for Central London. It's the sort of food you'd expect from a pub. Drink prices were good too, again considering location. Would recommend this place to anyone.

Fantastic place to wind down and relax with a great atmosphere. Theirs is a huge selection of drinks to choose from and layout adds to the atmosphere

We were looking for a British pub food experience. I think this place got it rating from the atmosphere and their beer. The pies and and snack we ordered were edible but not great, a frozen dinner standard.

We went to London for a few days and went here every day - sometimes more than once. Amazing atmosphere. All the staff were so friendly and made you feel welcome. Loads of beers and wines to choose from and the food was delicious. Can’t wait to return soon

My husband & I visited the restaurant for lunch today & it was busy with nice relaxed atmosphere. The waitress was very helpful & recommend a bottle of red wine for £34 which was very nice. The tapas dishes were tasty our favorite being the Tortillas & the chorizo in Rioja. The most disappointing dish by far was the chicken thigh in white wine it was four tiny pieces of quite dry chicken in a oil which we thought was poor for the cost. Also the bread that was served with dishes were two tiny pieces and we ordered more. We also did the port tasting which was a nice touch with the Montego cheese as an accompaniment. Overall we enjoyed our lunch.

What a waste of money and time They claim that they are a rugby pub but when questioned during the lull between Rugby World Cup games requesting for the RL grand final could be shown then manager scoffed and said it was a rugby pub. Outro pub de Londres que curtimos bastante. Tinha boas opções de cerveja, fomos bem atendidos, a comida estava gostosa e o preço foi justo. Super recomendo ir a esse pub para aqueles que estão na região de Covent Garden.

We were really lucky to get a table outside on one of these really warm evenings. Great range of beers. I tried a few that I wouldn't normally and thoroughly enjoyed them.

Not taking this country’s legal tender (cash) really disgusts me. I know it speeds things up but still, you should be able to spend your cash in any venue. Pub is a bit meh, but decent enough for the location I suppose..

Love this place when I’m visiting London. The beer choices are amazing, the service always pleasant, and the food variety will surely satisfy anyone who’s a picky eater. One of my “go-to’s” every trip.

We stopped here unexpectedly when passing and experienced van issues. The staff were so welcoming and extremely helpful. We both had food, which was sensational. The chef really knows his onions! Portion size was spot on and the detail and presentation made it so much more than enjoyable. We were actually glad we broke down and experienced this lovely little Gem! Highly recommend the halloumi burger shortly followed by the mango sorbet and lemon tart :)

Wondering aimlessly through Covenant Garden in 30* heat trying to get a table, a bench or even a bucket to sit on and order drinks was exhausting. Every where was booked or over spilling! But we finally made our way to the Porterhouse Irish bar and grill, and thanks to the fantastic lovely lady on the door who not only showed us to a table but also made us belly laugh... Great atmosphere, great service, friendly staff, great onsite brewery and good food. It’s a must visit.

Went here for a friends birthday, didn’t book a table but managed to get one on a Saturday night. The service and staff were amazing; particularly Sam, Blake, Jayvee, David and Milani. Will definitely be back.

What a great pub still. The service is excellent, the drinks are really good, nice gins and a superb couple of beers, a Mexican wheat beer and a nice Porterhouse porter. Well worth a visit

Food and drinks were good however there was a creepy old guy who kept coming up to your table claiming to be staff. He looked very scruffy and quite frankly he was a creep. Personally I wouldn’t go back there if he is anywhere near that pub. It was a concern to the young girls there.

Had a pizza as you have to eat to drink. My entire table of 6 were appalled with the food we had to purchase. Pizza was microwaved and the cheese and onion toastie was sliced cheese that had not melted. Horrible food you’d expect7 year olds to make.

I normally wouldn't go to an establishment like this, but so glad I did..the staff here are so friendly and the strawberry and man for beers are legendary! Definitely recommend

Algunos colegas y yo visitamos PorterHouse el miércoles 9 de septiembre. Están muy bien preparados para la seguridad de Covid con desinfectante de manos y los detalles se tomaron al entrar con una operación de servicio de mesa elegante.Si bien he visitado la porterhouse en muchas ocasiones anteriores y siempre me han impresionado sus cervezas y el lugar, esta reseña es para el fantástico servicio.Nos recibió un barman muy atento (¡desde que descubrí que se llamaba Pat!). Su conocimiento de las bebidas es muy impresionante, hablando a la gente sobre las opciones y lo que recomendaría según sus gustos preferidos. Pat fue diligente en recordar múltiples pedidos completos sin errores y se apresuró a limpiar los envases vacíos, tomar bebidas adicionales cuando fuera necesario (todo totalmente perfecto y hecho para una noche agradable y sin esfuerzo).Pat tiene un sentido del humor fantástico y rebotó en el grupo construyendo una gran relación. Todos nos fuimos hablando de lo impresionados que habíamos quedado con Pat, su atención al detalle y su comportamiento con los clientes.No es alguien que escriba reseñas a menudo, pero siente que esto fue muy ganado. Visité este pub por primera vez anoche. Los arreglos de Covid son excelentes. Sin embargo, el personal todavía hizo que fuera una noche relajante. Su selección de cervezas es excelente y su pizza es la mejor que he probado en Londres. Le recomiendo encarecidamente que visite.

Solía ir aquí mucho en una de sus formas anteriores, así que volví. Ha sido rediseñado y mejorado caro, pero para mí es simplemente falso: hay muchos pubs londinenses genuinos y pubs londinenses irlandeses, así que ¿por qué ir a este gigante falso y no apoyarlos en este momento difícil? El personal y en particular la señora de la puerta no fueron amables y teniendo en cuenta lo vacíos que están la mayoría de los lugares en la actualidad, esto es un error. No probé la comida. Explore en otros lugares.

Recientemente pasé por aquí para tomar una bebida rápida mientras estaba en mi expedición Turner, es el sitio donde nació, este tipo está en la parte posterior del billete de 20 libras, escuché sobre este lugar mientras recorría su colección en TATE BRITAIN, hay este brillante retrato de él sosteniendo una copa de vino de la casa en la puerta, adentro tienen esta especie de bodega de bodega con muchas vigas de metal y postes que le dan un aspecto antiguo, sirven pizza y tienen música en vivo en este lugar, bueno, por lo general lo hacen, pero en este momento su único espacio abierto para bebidas y pizza, los estados de ánimo agradables, la luz fría definitivamente volvería a pasar en algún momento.Echale un vistazo

El lugar tiene una acogedora terraza y un ambiente encantador.Las pizzas eran geniales y el servicio excelente.Mi amiga y yo fuimos atendidos por una morena portuguesa muy atenta (no entendí su nombre) que también habla español. Somos españoles y pasamos una velada extraordinaria. Ella se preocupó y preguntó sobre nuestra experiencia cuando estábamos listos para partir.Muy recomendable.Buena ubicación y personal.

I walked into this place as it opened for the day. As we were welcomed in by the staff my friend and I were met by a challenge of what to have to drink. I've never seen such a large choice of beers and ciders at a pub before, and the fact that so many of them had won awards made the choice hard. After a 10 minute chat i finally settled for the porterhouse Stout which was an awesome pint. My friend and I shared a pizza and some chicken wings and after a few more pints, went on our merry way. Later in the day we returned to the bar. It was packed and the atmosphere was amazing. Different bars scattered around the place which offered a massive variety of drinks. I cant remember the name of the live band, but they were also amazing. I will definitely go back to the porterhouse with friends and family to show them how amazing this spot is.

Six of us arrived here with no reservation, no problem, we were seated and served by very friendly and efficient staff. There was a great atmosphere in the restaurant with lots of quirky areas set all over the building. We all had different meals from the large menu and the food was good and served quickly. The prices are reasonable for Covent Garden, I would return.

Um dos pubs mais legais de Londres. As pints são de extrema qualidade e de fabricação própria. Centenas de rótulos de cerveja espalhados na decoração nos vários andares. Pegamos música ao vivo com ótimo repertório.

I went there on a Thu evening. It got quite busy at around 6PM. It was very hard to find a table, so we ended up drinking around the bar.I liked the atmosphere and the vibe.Service was great, and there was a wide variety of beers to chose from.Prices were what you might expect for central London.I would go back when visiting London!

Great atmosphere quirky multi layered floors and very busy on Saturday night, has outside space as well although a bit cold in Feb. Wide range of drinks including their own named beers. This pub is on several levels and stocks great beers such as Oyster Stout and Dublin Red Ale. Great atmosphere with several distinct areas on each level. Both locals and tourists will enjoy the place as it has a relaxed vibe mid week. There is aslo a whsky bar but not tried that yet.

So many beers to choose from, came in for lunch after wandering around covent garden. Had the muscles, they were great.
