Popty Conwy Bakery in Conwy

We've been 3 times, every time we've come up from Liverpool, and every time it's been consistently good. The cakes and savoury are superb, vanilla slices are next level and sausage rolls are tasty as. We will not be visiting Wales without a detour.

When in Conwy we always stop at the bakery. Clearly a lot of hard works goes into making such amazing fresh treats (both sweet and savoury). Such a great selection at a very reasonable price. Highly recommend!

We were staying several miles away but kept returning to try more of Popty's offerings - such a wide range of cakes and bakes and all of them lovely. Star of the show for me was their pork pie - one of the best I've ever eaten (and I used to live in Melton Mowbray) - it was just a shame they didn't sell larger ones.

Awesome little bakery in the middle of the town. Thank you to the little man who served us, definitely worth asking him what he recommends as he may be young but he definitely knows his desserts. We got sausage roll, chicken & mushroom pie, steak & ale pie, pepper steak pie. For dessert we got the vanilla slice. Thanks again little man.

Just back from Conwy with a bag full of goodies from Popty bakery. We haven't visited since before Covid but we are glad to report it's still wonderful. The bread/baps taste and smell like proper bread/baps and the cakes are even bigger than we remember. The custards taste like they have eggs in (now theres a novelty) and the lemon buns are glorious. Dont miss this place or you'll be sorry and too thin.

I was served towards the end of the day. Carrot cake was moist and full of flavour. Chocolate brownie was really chocolatey but not sickly. Really cheap prices for quality products. Was served by a young man whose customer service skills were exceptional 🙌

Great selection of items. The chocolate flake cake and Welsh cakes were delicious. Good prices too. Wish we’d had time to try everything and wish I lived closer!

Great bakery. I would highly recommend the iced fingers, eccles cakes, custard slice and the really tasty poppy seed tuna rolls. Great service and good coffee.

Normally I would give this bakery 5 as my family and I have been coming here since childhood. Please, please, please and another big pleaae go back to making your CORNED BEEF PASTIES as you uses to make them, they new shape and the way they are made are not a patch on the old. A few people while we were staying in Conwy commented on it. Love this place

Travelled 35 miles today just to get their delicious cream donuts and the equally custard slices. We do this two or three time a year. Never tried donuts or slices like theirs anywhere.

Excellent bakery, I had a vanilla/custard slice and my son had a massive piece of chocolate fudge cake. Absolutely delicious 🤤 pity we live so far away. Young lad that was serving did a brilliant job.

Conwy residents, count yourselves as very fortunate to have such a great bakers with the most generously sized cakes for the best prices. The vanilla slice was delicious and big enough for me and the mrs to share. Kids loved their caramel doughnut.

Just fantastic! Great staff. The best cakes/vanilla slice/doughnuts I have ever tasted and trust me, I have eaten lots of them! The prices are also reasonable so we always buy some treats for later whenever we are in Conwy. If the prices went up it would stop seeming such a treat but the quanity they shift shows they are hitting the price point perfectly. Do yourself a favour, if you are passing, buy something, you won't regret it. Next time we are in Conwy I have informed the other half that I will be trying the savour selection too - as well as fish and chips obviously.

Walking past this bakery and spotted the fabulous display of cakes and pastries. Couldn't resist popping and the selection was mouthwatering. Bought a selection of cakes and oh my word was it hard to choose. Each and everyone looked baked to perfection, bursting with cream/custard. The savoury selection looked delish although this time we just bought cakes. Honestly, it was so reasonably priced, they really could charge a bit more and it would still be worth it. A real treat and the lady and young man serving were so polite and friendly. Next time I visit the beautiful Conwy I will be seeking out this shop again. Highly recommended.

In Conwy while husband is working there for the day called into the bakery after looking in the window at all the beautiful food was served by a fantastic young lad who was so polite and chatty and bought some amazing treats would recommend to anyone who is visiting to call in

Kids enjoyed the caked, bought a cheese and ham sandwich but only got ham. The bap was a bit over cooked too. Fairly priced considering it's smack bang in the middle of conwy

I love this bakery! The price is very fair and the best vanilla slice I’ve had. It’s the shop you should visited before heading to the beach☺️ so that you could enjoy there with this lovely sweets♥️highly recommended!

I had the best white and lotus biscoff donut here also amazing value cheese and onion pastry, way better then Greggs so filling and tasty. Would definitely return.

I wanted a strawberry tarte and some welsh cakes. I looked for the best bakery in Conwy and came across this shop. I must say, I did not manage to take a picture of what I purchased however, I can say this is the Best bakery I've visited!! The pictures don't do it justice 😋 Went back again today and bought some more to take home along with some more Welsh cakes. Incredible - the Belgium chocolate donut is amazing and you really are spoiled for choice at a reasonable price. We'd go out of our way to come back here!

Beautiful bakery with a huge array of tasty fresh cakes and savouries available. Really surprised at how reasonably priced it was for a popular tourist area. Can honestly say it is one of the best bakeries we have visited

After a walk around Conwy we decided to buy sausage rolls and a pasty to take home as we live locally. The town was bustling and the bakery was very busy with a vast choice of lovely cakes, pastries and ready made sandwiches. Whilst queuing, I could hear the young man serving customers asking then if they were having a lovely day, where they were from etc. What a wonderful young man, so refreshing these days, I’m sure that the owners are very proud of him. Da iawn.

The best bakery in North Wales. The selection of their finest cakes and pastries on display is a sight to behold. Really recommend the caramel shortbread, brownies and rainbow cakes. A big shoutout to the team here for their great customer service especially Cat!

We stopped off today for some treats whilst we were in Conwy. We were served by such a friendly and helpful young man, and the cakes were really delicious!

I have bought the vanilla slices from here and enjoyed them A bit shocked that the local council rate their food hygiene ratings as a 2 star with a need for improvement

First visit to this bakery but have heard of their lemon buns. They were lovely. Served by a friendly lady and a young boy. He was so mature for his age and greeted us in Welsh when he heard us speak Welsh. We were very impressed with him and he is a credit to this bakery.

Custard doughnuts and cheese onion pastry are amazing. They also have many other selections. I am back in my hometown but every bite of the doughnuts and pastry still manages to drool me 🤤🤤🤤 worth to give it a try if you go to Conwy.

Best bakery I've ever known. It's a good job I don't live in Conwy as I'd have a couple of the caramel doughnuts a day and end up huge. The cakes are just ridiculously delicious and very reasonably priced. It doesn't get better than this.

The custard donuts are amazing I’ve have several times when visiting area . However I stopped eating cakes two years ago ( to loose weight) I just had to break that two year stint today and get one ( well two actually) My absolute favorite.

Went there today while seeing the dentist (the irony I know!) The man who served us was very polite and had great customer service skills. Thanked us for every single item we purchased. All the cakes and pastries in there looked amazing and clearly fresh. Reasonably priced for the area at an average of £1.80. My Nutella doughnut was probably the nicest doughnut I've had so I recommend highly!

I had a cheese and onion pasty from here on a day trip to Conwy. It was probably one of the best I've had in my life and I've tried a few. I regret not buying one of those gorgeous looking cakes now too. Definitely next time though.

Had a steak slice and cheese and onion slice both delicious. Caramel chocolate crunch cake was more than worth the calories. All very reasonable too. Heading back tomorrow!!

Given the TA reviews we were eager to try out the cakes at the bakery. The display was amazing which made the choice very difficult, But eventually we opted for two lots: cream donut (x1) and Nutella donuts(x3); then vanilla slices (x4) as the next lot! Despite a recent TA review discussing the very same choice of cakes and finding them amazing that was not our experience with the donuts which we consumed within 10 minutes of buying - the cream donut was virtually inedible on one side, really tough to bite and chew albeit the other side was light and just right - so evidently very uneven baking. By comparison the Nutella donuts were somewhat more edible, but still not great - too chewy. Later in the day(!) we tackled the vanilla slices which had the largest amount of filling imaginable. In contrast to the donuts, the slices were excellent, some of the best we have had; albeit difficult to eat in a dignified manner given the amount of cream!All in all the rating reflects our overall experience (which has also been seen by others in years gone by), viz a bit of ‘curates egg’

Today we tried the Nutella doughnut and fresh cream doughnut. Both absolutely amazing. Big portions and full of filling. The doughnuts where so fresh. They are crispy and sugary on the outside yet soft and fluffy in the inside with a lovely hint of chewiness (in a positive way). A delightful treat whilst on holiday in North Wales. Highly recommend a visit
