Had an early dinner tonight at the Pond Barn. First time we had been. Food was lovely and fresh, had the steak and ale pie and scampi. Food & drink very reasonably priced, the service was great with a lovely waitress who took time to say hello to our dog. Place is very dog friendly with bowls and a water barrel. Would definitely recommend and return

Unplanned visit Friends on their way home from Goodwood Revival asked me the name of the pub opposite my mum’s house for dinner before they drove 70 miles home and I just happened to be visiting my mum. One table of six later we had the most amazing food and fabulous friendly service. Recommend the rib eye steaks, steamed mussels & whitebait. Perfect evening.

Was staying in nearby east wittering and wondered into Bracklesham one day. My mum spotted the sign to the pub and like a sniffer dog was there. Few drinks and a lively lunch later we left the pub. Very tasty food and reasonable price too. Nice large garden to chill out in and the building itself was ver quirky. A lovely little find. Look out for the yellow signs when walking towards bracklesham Bay.

Our party of 9 (ages ranging from 4 to seniors) plus two dogs had an enjoyable lunch in the outside area, where we had one large table to ourselves. The menu is based on traditional pub grub, and ranges from sandwiches through to 3-course meals. The sandwiches which my wife and I enjoyed were generously proportioned and served in white or brown bloomer bread, plus salad. The other members of the party all enjoyed their meals, including the two children choosing from the children's menu, and commented on how tasty the various meals were.Service was good, with no delays on a fairly quiet Tuesday lunchtime, and topped off with a delivery of free biscuits for our two dogs and the other dogs in the outside area!A wide range of drinks are available at pub prices, and the choice of indoor/outdoor tables allowed plenty of opportunities and choices for those arriving when we were there. The landlord came out and asked very politely for our 7-year-old birthday boy to refrain from kicking a ball next to our table, as it could be off-putting for other diners, which was fair comment (and handled well)Five different main courses plus two children's meals plus two sandwiches plus drinks resulted in a bill of less than £100 . . . good value, good food, good service.

Reading the menu there are starters, mains and deserets avaiable. You have to state at the begining of placing the order how many courses you would like to save £1.90 ?If you have starter, then your mains and then decide you have room for a desert because you didnt state it at the beginning it will cost you £1.90 more.Waitress was flippent, we were told we would have to wait to place our order as she didnt want to overload the kitchen with food tickets. We decided not to stay for the food and just paid for our drinks and left. Looks nothing like the photos. Glancing at the plates of food on our way out, I would say we had a lucky escape

Sadly our Roast Sunday lunch was very poor quality. The Beef tough, hard indeed to slice near impossible with cutlery provided. Husband couldn’t cut through his parsnip, he loves parsnips but had to leave it. Even the Yorkshire was hard. Nice staff.

On a busy Bank holiday weekend we had booked Sunday lunch for 3 and were made very welcome on arrival, that included our dog too. We were allocated a spacious table in the covered outdoor area and the service was friendly and efficient. We shared delicious vegetable samosas as starters then one of us had roast beef, another nut roast and the third pea and mint risotto. All were tasty and well presented and accompanied by a selection of colourful fresh vegetables. Desserts followed, these too were great. There was a buzz of happy atmosphere all around and people were clearly enjoying being able to meet and eat together even outside on a windy day. Full marks to the proprietor and his staff team, our dog appreciated his biscuit too.

Came here on the 12th April after lockdown was lifted. Waited over 49 minutes before I was even offered a drink then told the waitress would bring a menu. Waited and asked another 2 times for the menu before I got one. Ordered the fish and chips with mushy peas. Didn’t say the peas where minted. Took another 45 minutes to get my meal by which time the other owner had come in, had two drinks, gone of somewhere, come back and been served again. Before I got my meal. The junior partner did apologise eventually and offer to buy me a drink. But still arrived at 18:10 for an 18:00 table and ended having my food at 20:35.

Me and my partner, and dog came to the pub after a long walk along West wittering beach and absolutely loved the pub! I can imagine with the front garden summer drinks here is a must it was gorgeous, but even the inside of the pub was beautifully decorated and laidout perfectly. The staff are very welcoming and also very dog friendly my little dog loved being treated and showed affection. Food was delicious(I had the cambert(seasoned with garlic and rosemary the best!), whitebait, and cheesy chips and my partner had the fish and chips and every bite was wonderful), there was a lot of options on the menu I definitely over indulged! A good variety of dessert. I would definitely come back and recommend.

We had the best Sunday lunch ever in this fabulous dog friendly pub! The staff were all so amazing and gave us such a warm welcome with our 2 English bulldogs. It was a real bonus that they let dogs, not just in the garden, but also into the restaurant too.We had the Sunday carvery, the food was really fresh and plentiful, and the service was excellent. The lady who welcomed us on the door went above and beyond to make sure we (or should I say our dogs ) were thoroughly spoilt. I absolutely loved this place and will be back again very soon.

My daughter, her boyfriend and his 6 year old daughter were booked in for Sunday lunch yesterday. They were very disappointed with the meagre amount of food that appeared on their plates. They had requested a roast dinner without any meat for his daughter as she often doesn't eat it. What she was brought out was a plate with just 2 small potatoes and a Yorkshire pudding! Although this is a good place for a drink, the lunch was not value for money at all.

We were staying in our motorhome on a site a few miles away & had pre-booked for the Sunday 12th July, as we'd visited a few times whenever we'd stayed on the site nearby previously. This is a very dog friendly pub, with typical but very good, pub grub. We were told we could book 12-3pm. 3-6pm & 6-9pm - we chose the first slot, and with fingers crossed re the weather, booked for the garden area. We had to put our names & contacts down for track & trace, & use sanitiser and after being shown to the table by the pond, we had nothing but top service. The food was excellent & plenty of it (we chose lamb) - the drinks lovely & ice cold & as a bonus, 2 deserts for the price of one. Cannot fault it, and we felt extremely safe re the precautions taken by the pub & covid. We have rebooked the motorhome site for July 2021, and we shall once again be returning to the Pond Barn Inn

Down for a family visit so decided to visit this pub as last time we visited it was not a positive experience. At the entrance gate is hand sanitiser and a pad to write your details down for Trace & Trace purposes. Sat in the garden but took a long time to get served the first drink even though only 4 other people in the garden at the time. They need to have a dedicated person or persons stationed in the garden organising the drinks side of things as lots of people were sat outside. What we did notice was lots of people arriving and walking straight into pub without hand sanitising nor putting their details down for the Track & Trace purposes so a big fail on that front. Need to get the waiting staff properly trained to be alert to customers with empty glasses as customers cant go to the bar themselves. Several waiting staff serving all the tables rather than a dedicated member of staff to cover a set amount of tables. If customers are paying cash, would also help if the waiting staff asked that and took the cash for drinks at point of ordering rather than bringing the drinks, taking the money, going back in to get change and then returning to the table with change. If the change is brought back when drinks are delivered to the table will save a lot of time so other customers could be served rather than having to wait so long. Also no one on cleaning duty for door handles nor toilets and nothing available to wipe them down with yourself. Wont say it was a totally negative experience but plenty of room for improvement. Need to have someone monitoring the Track & Trace logging as clearly not being adhered to by quite a few customers.

My Wife and I went to the Pond Barn on Christmas Day for lunch at 1pm my Wife having booked it by paying a £65 deposit on 20/09/19.On arrival I told my Wife to go on ahead whilst I parked the car in a side road, as the car park was full.My Wife tried to enter by a side entrance but was obstructed by a lot of very loud people, who obstructed her from entering the resturant. We met up by the front entrance, we went to the bar and told them we had arrived, we were pointed to a very small table by the entrance with only one chair, one of the waitresses rushed round to find a chair. We finally sat down, after about 20 minutes a waitress asked us if we had the blinis, she plonked a small plate with two teaspoon sized blinis, after another 20 minutes she came back with 2 half bint beer glasses, with a fresh prawn hooked on each glass, in the bottom of each glass was a grey mess about an1'' deep with crayfish? and a couple of lettuce leaves sticking out. Then after half hour waiting for our main meal, I got up an asked, had they forgotten us, we were then presented with two large plates, one plate had one roast potato and broken fatty bits the other had two, two small pieces of turkey and shredded gammon which was dryed out, together with a yorkshire. Then they put down a bowl containing the vegetables, swede, brussell sprouts, and carrots, all swimming in a bowl of water. We also had two square very hard pieces of what appeared to be toast, (we assumed it was stuffing) We asked the waitress what it was, she said '' I will ask the chef as I don't no,'' needless to say she did not come back. The Manager did finally come up, and said he understood we were not happy whereupon my Wife burst into tears, as it was far removed from the Christmas Day meal she had anticipated, the Manager was very apologetic, he suggested that he could do something with the bill, as My Wife did not eat any of the Main meal at all, I did eat mine as I was hungry but it was the worst Christmas dinner I have ever had but as it was christmas day I knew we could not go any where else.My Wife saw the Manager at the bar and offered to pay for the two drinks we had (a glass of wine and a pint) whereupon he refused to take the money he apologised again, and we left did not stay for the dessert or coffee..In conclusion by reading this, if it stops you from having a Christmas Day nightmare it has been worth doing this reveiw.

Lovely food after the poor restaurant had a power outage...well done on getting back on track so quickly! Food was excellent but as the serving area is a bit cramped, other diners waiting in line simply did not move out of the way so getting the food onto our plates was a hassle. Negotiating the tables with plates of food was awkward as a wheelchair user was seated in the middle of the main gangway. Once we were able to get back to our table and eat, the food was rather cold but we all still thought it very tasty. Waiting and bar staff were all superb. Will definitely visit again but may try a little earlier to avoid the ‘rush’ of annoyingly selfish people who refused our polite requests to get to the serving points.

'The Pond Barn' we camp locally in Wittering twice a year, and have been coming to the Barn for a number of years now, it has never given me the impression that it welcomes 'out of towners' and i was hoping that the new ownership would change that feeling, but despite the new owner improving the front entrance, i am still not sure this is for the family, three builders backsides hanging over the food counter, and kids climbing over the walls and tables would be enough to put most people off from staying to long, if at all, There is a curry night on Tuesdays, but this was a touch disappointing, tasteless and luke warm (heated up in microwave) and not very pleasant. i really want the new owner to do well, it is a great looking pub, with loads of potential, but i do get the impression this is a local housing estates local boozer, and not geared up for outsiders, but i hope i am wrong, so pop in for a cold pint of San Miguel and make your own mind up. If you ladies out there (or men, what ever floats your boat) want to view the array of builders bums hanging over the food counter, then they seem to start arriving around 4 to 5pm! Good Luck.

The service was great even though it was the England Vs Sweden game. We arrived at 2pm and sat on a bench outside with a friendly family. One of them moved away and two women sat down on the bench. What happened after half time after returning from the toilet with my 11 year old son was embarrassing. They decided to take up the spot my son was sat in and refused to move back. They tried to intimidate by calling over their friends so obviously local even spoke to one of the bar ladies. I spoke to someone who knew swelly to ask him to politely ask her to move as my ask was responded to with disgust and he said oh swelly no can't ask her. To add insult to injury her dad arrived and pushed my son even further off the bench. We had fun though watching him swerve and stagger home at 5pm. Also looking back enjoyed the fact the a dog was licking swelly and she did not notice. Thanks to Dino who after I called to say what had happened was disgusted too and invited me back next time I came and said this should not have happened.

On holiday and decided to meet friends for a quiet drink in Pond Barn early evening. BIG MISTAKE. Music blaring and could not hear each other speak. Bar manageress seemed more interested in prancing around and flirting than serving customers! When we politely asked if the music could be turned down it was turned up! Bar staff need to be taught how to pull a decent pint as most of it ended up down the sink! Despite a lovely makeover, the attitude and people skills of some of the bar staff need to improve if it's to succeed. Understand from people we spoke to that a lot of the locals have stopped using it which speaks volumes. Shame as it was always a welcoming place when we have visited in the past and well supported by the local community. Will be avoiding on future visits.

We were really excited to see new owners taking over the Pond Barn, they have already transformed the front with a beautiful pergola & come next summer i'm sure it will look fabulous. Inside they have painted & updated the decor & you can see a promising change to come. However there are a few minor quirks that would help make it more appealing.... the bar looks great but the seating on the bar side is awkward - there needs to be more seating for people - 4 sofas facing each other across the width of the room doesn't work you feel like you are in a corridor or waiting room. With a little bit of shuffling & maybe moving the pool table you could get more comfortable & social seating. The lighting is too harsh & then at 10:30pm on a Friday the mats on the bar are being cleared away making us feel unwelcome & rushed. To add to that the spray cleaner comes out - big no no whilst there are still customers - i really don't like aroma d'dettol with my pint!

What a hidden gem Pond Barn is!! Needed to eat out in the area for Mothers Day but never been before, so looked on TripAdvisor for options. Pond Barn was perfect location for us & the reviews for the carvery + overall service fitted the bill! After speaking to both Simon & Sue the owners on to organise booking a special occasion, all i can say is what a breath of fresh air!! So helpful, so polite, so accommodating of requirements, just such a joy these days to receive honest genuine customer service!! When we arrived the setting was gorgeous, lovely pond with ducks, a lovely old building too, plenty of parking which was a joy for my brother who lives in Brighton!! Inside was beautiful, gorgeous bunting with fairy lights & such a warm welcome from Sue, loved the rustic décor & it reminded my mum of France!! The service from staff was excellent, so helpful & attentive & non intrusive. The carvery was fantastic!! Fresh, hot, gorgeous veg, the meats were to die for, best beef I've eaten out for years, mum said she hadn't eaten turkey like that since childhood so it must have been good!! Hubby is a lamb lover & he was in heaven!! All i can say is wish Pond Barn was on our doorstep cos we would b regulars!! Such a difference to the usual chain companies with no personality & same old food!! Lovely garden too to sit & watch the wildlife in a peaceful setting on a sunny day!! Thankyou Sue & Simon & all the staff for a wonderful meal & service, will definitely be back & recommend to friends

I visited here about a month ago with two of my friends for my best friends birthday party and oh my gosh. I never want to go back to that place EVER again. The staff were rude. They didn't apologise for the long wait and then the cold fish and chips which had clearly been recooked or put in a microwave. I should have just gone to the fish and chip shop round the corner. Their drinks were far too overpriced and when their manager tried to compensate us I was just appalled. You can't ever take back something that has gone wrong. I would stay away from here indefinitely.

Found this little hideaway pub and restaurant by chance and they had room for all 15 of us last minute and were very welcoming! Extremely pleasant owners and very accommodating for the fact that we just landed on them!! Driving up to the pub does not do it the justice of what you find inside! Great ambience, great decor, brilliant and funny staff, wonderful food and great portion sizes and very reasonable prices. I would make a point if coming back here, it was lovely

What a great place to have a special celebration, the food was excellent and the presentation of it was of the highest quality. Plenty of space and a great atmosphere, the staff smiled at you , something you don't get in a lot of places. Can't recommend it enough.

I came here with a party of 11 for a meal on Saturday night. The bar has a pool table , darts board , tv and some tables chair's and sofas .The drinks were reasonably priced and the atmosphere was relaxed and friendly. The restaurant is in a separate room which I prefer rather than the noise of the bar- that other places can suffer from. The owners had prepared a long table for our group which was nicely laid out.The food was excellent well cooked and really tasty, there was plenty of it (no skimpy portions here !).The staff were excellent and nothing was too much trouble for them.they made us feel very welcome. And the biggest surprise was the price !You have to eat here.

This is the 3rd time in 8 weeks we have been here for a Sunday Carvery and each time it gets better. The food is cooked well, with good flavour and the meat (especially the beef) is superb. The prices are very reasonable for what you get but the biggest plus point of all is the staff. The 3 girls in the restaurant are excellent and can't do enough for you. My two little ones think they're great, especially when they helped them with the very challenging spot the difference. The chef at the Carvery is very friendly and dishes up generous portions of meat. Overall, this is a very enjoyable, family feel place visit.

Well what can I say! Ive been working in the industry for the last 17 years, and currently run a restaurant, bar and nightclub. This probably one of the best places I have been too! We had been staying in one of the beach houses close to the pond bar, and wanted somewhere close for dinner on the Saturday night as we had extra friends joining us. I popped in on the Friday lunchtime to ask about what food they served etc, was greeted by a gentleman and He got the chef and he was very helpful. After a lazy day we decided to try this place out before we went on the Saturday. Sue was totally amazing, so passionate about the product that she was serving. I ordered them lamb shank, which was really tender, full of flavour and was served with fresh seasonal vegetables..... the red cabbage is to die for! Followed by salted caramel cheesecake all washed down with a couple of pints of tuborg or kronenberg or whatever-borg it was..... ;) We went on the Saturday with the extra friends, 11 in total, and the same attentive Sue was there to help from the start...... She had arranged 1 long table at the end of the restaurant so we were tucked away from anyone else as we had a little 6 month old with us. Again the food & serve was excellent! All I can say is shame we didn't find this place earlier in the week! See you soon, we'll be back!Thank you for such amazing hospitality!Regards. Simon :)

6 adults plus 2 children went yesterday for late lunch. Carvery was superb choice of meats and vegetables very good and regularly renewed. Whilst it was busy the staff were ensuring all customers were catered for. Chef was engaging and eager to please. Football / sports on next door in bar which was popular and busy without being raucous. Would recommend , perfect Sunday lunch, child friendly as week but unfortunately not dog friendly. Very reasonably priced as well I thought they had under charged

Despite a very fractious one year old daughter, we had a lovely Sunday lunch at Pond Barn. All the waitresses were really patient with my daughter's need to walk everywhere and the pork at the carvery was really excellent! It's a lovely setting for a lovely lunch (if only we'd had a more obliging kid!).

We were down for the weekend and saw a board advertising the Carvery so on Saturday night we gave it a try. The restaurant was really lovely with beams and an eclectic range of tables and chairs. We were met by Sue who showed us to our table and had a lovely chat with us, we all ordered the Carvery and were certainly NOT disappointed - it was lovely!! Sue dealt with a very demanding 4 year old who only wanted Yorkshire Puddings and Gravy and Sue brought over extra's for her with a little jug of gravy, so she thought she was a Princess!! We would recommend this Restaurant to anyone, the rest of the menu also looked great and we were sad that we had to leave on Sunday morning so we could not try more!! We will certainly go back when we visit again and would so recommend it to anyone! Thank you Sue for a lovely evening!!

We recently had our wedding reception here and what a brilliant time it was!We can't thank Sue and Simon and all the staff for all their help. Everyone has told us what a wonderful time they had and how much they enjoyed the food. The place looked stunning, the buffet was huge, and the staff, although very busy serving everyone, always did so efficiently and with a smile. If you're planning a party, the Pond Barn is the place. We'll defiantly be back!

On Sunday my family and I had an amazing day at the beach. During the day we became peckish so my daughter suggested to go to for dinner at the pond barn restaurant, beforehand I heard great things about it so I decided to give it a go. As we approached the building our eyes were instantly drawn to the beautiful roof. Walking in the staff greeted us and showed us to our table. The smell of the carvery was amazing so we thought it would be only right to have the some. Also the carvery lady was very smiley and bubbling and was intrigued by the stories we told her. We don't live around the area but we will definitely will be coming back in the future.

The carvery was excellent. The chef took a real interest in my unusual allergy and went out of her way to ensure the food I had was suitable. There was plenty of fresh veg to choose from. Good value for the amount of food we were given.

We went as a family on Sunday at 3 pm for the carvery Sunday dinner, having heard it was very good. We were very disappointed. There was only scrappy pieces of meat, no roast potatoes except bits stuck to the pan . No swede, carrots or parsnip. There was no accompaniments and a long wait for gravy. It took ages to get served and the poor lady behind the carvery was almost in tears. We felt the restaurant was trying to cater for far too many customers, and we're obviously over stretching themselves. A real shame as it seems they could do a good job if fewer people were catered for.

We stopped on our way home from walking the beach. We ordered drinks and some appetizers. It was a beautiful evening and the outdoor area is large, overlooks a pond and is quiet and peaceful. The food was served nicely.

Popped down here for the karaoke night and decided to have some food as well. The food was delicious, especially the chips. I like they serve somersby cider and they now have a lovely strawberry and rhubarb cider on draft. The staff were very welcoming and we will definitely be going back. Highly recommended.b

We went to a wake there yesterday and they couldn't have been more welcoming and helpful, vegetarian and gluten free food available also catered for my child with severe allergies. Food was lovely and there were games available for the children. Hidden away but very close to the beach would recommend if you were feeling hungy!

Visited last Sunday with our grandchildren for a Sunday roast at 6pm. They finish serving at 7pm and we were informed that there was only turkey left from the carvery as they had been busy all day The grandchildren liked turkey so that wasn't a problem. We ordered a children's carvery, but when we went to the carvery to get their food I was very surprised at the small size of the plate I was given for them. I mentioned this as it was too small for our 7yr old an I was given 2 larger oval plates for them which was a more suitable size. They had turkey and also some gammon which was left. The choice of vegetables was very good along with roast potatoes and large Yorkshire pudding. Our grandchildren really enjoyed their meals and ate everything on the plate. We had ordered 2 lamb shanks, which had been put on the carvery while we got the children's dinners. Unfortunately by the time we had finished and sat back down our food wasn't very warm. The lamb was tasty but you could tell it was the end of the day and had been kept around for a little while. I think if you want a good meal its better to visit earlier in the day when there is plenty of meat available. The staff were very friendly and personable and chatty with the children. The building itself is very unusual as it seems to be a house, with a bar and TV, then another room for the restaurant, which leads out to the garden area by the pond.
