We visited in the 'Covid' season, and the restaurant was quiet, and not serving alcohol. Service was good, value average, and a good selection of food available. The sirloin steak was great, but serving any main dish without green vegetables spoiled the meal for me. Vegetables as a side dish were not mentioned on the menu. Plockton 'smokies' were also good as a starter.

Plockton prawns which are langustines served very chilled from the fridge and full of eggs. I ordered this as a main at £24. The 8 langustines came with a salad (same salad that was with my starter) ans 2 slices of bread. The menu didn't state that they would be served cold. I mentioned this to a server who said that that was the way they came. I decided to not make an issue as this was my first meal out in 6 months. As a healthcare worker, I have been almost shielding in an attempt to protect my patients as well as myself. As I went to shell my second langustine I found it full of eggs as were 4 others. I couldn't eat them. It was clear they hadn't been prepared properly. I went inside to find a supervisor and spoke with Paula who advised they didn't work that way and nobody was in charge. I was advised that it wasn't their responsibility how the langustines were served as they came that way as they were fresh. I was not offered a substitute meal or a discount. I was given a free pint. Also to note, I ordered queen scallops as a starter. I asked for them not to be cooked with smoked bacon (as stated on the menu). The scallops were served in a ramekin with bacon bits in the garlic butter.

We had the best meal of our 2 week trip doing the NC500 at the Plockton Hotel. On a beautiful evening we sat outside admiring the most incredible view listening to 3 local musicians play traditional Scottish music. The atmosphere was so fabulous we decided that rather than just have a drink we would dine there. The staff were so helpful and attentive and we struggled to choose from a fabulous menu choice. The monkfish and prawn thermidore I had was one of the best seafood dishes I have ever had and others in the group had burgers and other fish dishes which they all highly rated. While other establishments are serving customers outside with paper cups and plastic plates it was good to see the Plockton Hotel had not gone down this needless route. Excellent COVID safety measures in place. Can thoroughly recommend a visit to the Plockton Hotel for great food, fantastic service and stunning scenery.

We stopped for coffee one morning and came back for dinner a couple of nights later. Both were excellent. Great views from the decked terrace over the bay, islands, coast, water - beautiful. We were told we couldn't book to have dinner on the terrace but we only had to wait a few minutes for a table to be cleared and cleaned. Staff were very aware of covid precautions and seemed to be working safely. We shared a hot mackerel starter, which was delicious, and then had venison and fishcakes, both of which were very good. Staff were unfailingly polite and cheerful despite being busy and working under such weird constraints. We'd definitely visit again.

Lovely little restaurant but the food and service is very average. I ordered the Plockton prawns for my starter, they were delicious but that’s where it ended. My main of salt and pepper squid was tasteless. My partner had soup to start and a burger for his main, he said it was nice but nothing special. It didn’t help that out food was more or less thrown at us by the young, uninterested waitress. Overall, a disappointing experience.

I emailed ahead to ask if the restaurant open and what the set up was. I explained we were a large group. I received a reply to say they were open but no answer or acknowledgment of our group size. When we arrived we were scolded for entering the outside area before a table had been sanitized and also were told that our group too large to sit together. That was fine but had been part of the question I had asked in advance. It didn't make for a great start to a relaxing lunch on a pleasant day out. Having said that, I can not blame the staff delivering the message, the management of the establishment had an opportunity to tell me the arrangements the day prior and chose not to, also there were no signs visible outside telling us to wait for a table to be cleaned etc.Once we got over the initial animosity, understood the rules and let the tension between the staff and our party subside, we relaxed and had a very pleasant lunch. Smokies, goats cheese and hog and haggis burger very popular in our group. The staff had to work very hard due to new regulations which may explain our negative experience on arrival. I think the quality of the food good but perhaps slightly over priced. All that said, I would recommend eating here and will definitely come back. part of what you are paying for is he fabulous location

Great location right on harbour in the lovely town of Plockton. All measures in place to ensure safety during pandemic. We enjoyed some tasty seafood options including the traditional “queenie” (small scallops with bacon) , a delicious grilled plaice and fantastic crab claws in garlic butter. Fine selection of wine and beers. Good value too - similar prices to the Highlands as a whole and also participating in eat out to help out in Aug 2020 so we enjoyed £20 off! 4 stars only because we experienced some better seafood during our stay and the crispy squid was a little disappointing.

We also have noticed that although there are plenty of staff on they don’t seem to have awareness or what should be priorities. This was our first visit to this restaurant. The most annoying thing was the feeling that we were invisible to staff. Stood at the bar for more than 5 minutes trying to order food whilst staff came and went, It was much the same when trying to pay. This is a BIG negative for me, a simple we will be with you shortly would have be helpful rather than being ignored. We ordered fish and chips, backed potatoes with fillings and I had the cream of smoked fish soup. Fish and chips was £13+, Baked potatoes £10+. The baked potatoes were on the small side and the filling matched their size. I had wrongly assumed that the cream of smoked fish soup was a form of Cullen skink, but this was nowhere close to it and was rather bland and tasteless. If you are reading this and are a visitor, then please don't assume that all Scottish restaurants are like this. We holiday in Gairloch several times a year and find the standard of restaurant there really good in terms of welcome, service, cost and quality of food.

We visit Plockton regularly and in 2017 we ate here and to be truthful it wasn’t as good as it was the year before. However, on holiday with our daughter and her husband we decided to give it another try as we wanted to walk round the village to show them. The first disappointment no Sunday lunch menu so we chose of the main menu. I had the crab salad which was basically a small dressed crab with a bit of salad at £14+ I had expected perhaps boiled potatoes. The jumbo sausage x 2 was the type you buy in a fish and chip shop minus the batter, the accompanying chips had definitely been around a while, apparently the baked beans were the best part. This cost almost £8.The steak and ale pie came with carrots, chips and broccoli. Unfortunately the carrots and broccoli were hard and cold and the previous comment about the chips applies. The cost was almost £13+. The scampi and chips was more like scampi cannon balls and the same comment about the chips. Perhaps the ‘chef’ only had access to a deep fat fryer and microwave but in all honesty it was a dreadful experience and we will not return. No one came out to ask if our meals were ok and we were not asked if everything was alright with our meals when we went to pay. I asked the lady who seemed to be doing the bar solo if it had changed hands? To give her dues she did delete our drinks from the bill but we didn’t go expecting a discount all we wanted was a decent meal. She said the owners had retired to Nairn and it was their son and his wife running it!

So we had the fish soup and the scallops as starters: the soup was odd tasting and watery, and the supposedly "queen" scallops were the tiniest I've ever seen and drowning in oil (served with bacon,it would have tasted much better without the oil pool probably). As main courses we had the almond trout and the breaded sole: the trout was small, dry and tasted way too much of lemon, and the almonds on top of it were burned; even the potatoes on the side were poorly seasoned. The sole was the best of the meal but still really average, the breading was blend. The chips that came with the sole were very soft and chewy (microwaved in my opinion). The view on the terrace is great, the place is really peaceful. Staff was okay. We had no choice but eating there because everything around was booked and we were hungry, but definetly would not recommend. Worst meal in Scotland by far.

We all ordered the same from a delicious-looking menu. Rock turbot with prawns and lemon butter, peashoots, really good chips and lovely sweet new potatoes which had been sautéed. Our side order of veg was varied and good. Dessert of Seville chocolate tart was served warm with a good quality ice cream and was light and delicious. We visited this restaurant for lunch, there was no welcome from a very frosty lady who really couldn’t be bothered. The menu was limited but it was lunchtime (more extensive in the evening) I had the sausage which seemed to be lacking in meat and taste, the chips were also dry and distinctly lacking in flavour. My wife had the scampi and chips which was accompanied by some salad, the scampi seemed to have been thrown in a deep fat fryer and quickly cooked which left them wet inside and tasteless. Surely a professional chef if they indeed employ one can do better than this and with choosing better quality ingredients. Sadly it seems that in popular and busy places it seems that care and attention are lacking and feed them quick and get them out seems to be the norm. I had eaten at this establishment some years ago and was pleased with the fare and quality hence my visit this time, needless to say we shall look elsewhere on any future visit

Preis/Leistung stimmt.

My wife and I were staying here for 1 night mid week in late May (see review under hotels). When I booked the room months ago I enquired about reserving a table for dinner in the pub area and was told that a table was automatically reserved for guests and to mention my request to reception at checkin and it should be no problem to accommodate my request since we were staying mid-week. We checked in around 16:30 and the person at reception said they would check and someone would get back to me. I had not heard anything and when we came down for dinner at 6:30 I enquired about my request to a different person and they said they had no knowledge of my request, that the person I spoke to earlier was gone for the day and that we would have to eat in the back dining room since tables in the pub were reserved for regulars and off street diners and we could not possibly be accommodated. I was very disappointed since the pub has all the atmosphere and the back dining room has none. However, we took our place at our table and ordered our meals. My wife had seabass and I had the evening main special. I am sorry to say I cannot remember what my entree was. The seabass was okay and my entree was nothing special that I can recall. I also ordered the fish soup and it was nice. We had a bottle of Chenin Blanc and the wine was good. Service was a bit slow. After dinner we retired to our room and observed that there were some picnic tables available outside (they were crowded with beer drinkers earlier), so we decided to take our wine outside to finish. After finishing we then ordered a sticky toffee pudding and a liqueur and lingered until sunset. Pudding was excellent and the ambiance was wonderful.

Unfrozen seafood platers, over cooked crabs. How can you cook that on the seashore. Sorry if my English is not good enough to express my deception.

We have visited the Plockton Hotel for many years, usually coming twice during our weeks holiday - not this year! We booked a table for 18:30, waited until 19:00 before we got seated, having waited 20 mins to get served a drink by the very unenthusiastic bar staff. As we were ordering our food, one of the waitresses informed our order taker that 2 items were no longer on the menu, which further restricted what was available to eat - no langoustine, no mussels! We chose the chicken - when it arrived it was so obvious that it had been microwaved, it looked so insipid and was very stringy. Sadly, we will think twice about returning - it's time for them to up their game!

Loved the picturesque village of Plockton and was looking forward to the meal at the Plockton Hotel Restaurant. Unfortunately though the restaurant’s service was a real letdown. Firstly, the waitress forgot our starters and once we were finished with our main courses, nobody came to collect our empty plates for ages, nor even asked if everything was ok... The food itself was fairly basic. If you’re here, I would recommend to try out one if the other two restaurants near by...

El sitio es bonito y auténtico, pero calidad/precio, nada del otro mundo. El lugar es agradable, la comida correcta, pero sin más. Claro que en Plockton no hay mucho dónde elegir, y este está muy bien situado con bonitas vistas a la bahía

Some days things go smoothly on holiday and some days things don't go to plan at all. Drove to Plockton from Kinlochewe to see the village we hadn't been to for thirty years. Blessed with amazing weather for the Highlands we had a scenic drive. Arrived in Plockton had a walk through and took a few photos as you do. Found a boat trip leaving at 2pm so booked that and decided to try and get some lunch. Now normally you'd struggle and end up eating a curled up sandwich from a corner shop if you only have about an hour to spare. Walked the front and there is a pleasant amount of eateries all looking worth a try. We had our small dog so the veranda with canopy was ideal.
