Pizza Express in Bath and North East Somerset

The restaurant accommodated our group of 15 really well on a busy Saturday, even though most of us arrived more than 30 minutes late for the booking. Our server, Monty, deserves special mention putting up with all the chaos. We will return.

went for a evening meal here but the service was very slow ,quick to take the order ,which was garlic mushrooms to start and a margarita pizza for the mains. it was an hour before the starters arrived, and they were lukewarm at best we told the waitress who explained that she had been telling the cooks repeatedly about the food being sent out but nothing was done ,and they were doing their best. then the pizza arrived it too was only warm and was best described as tomato flat bread as the cheese on it was sparce. we complained but this was just met with a wry smile and a comment of we've had a bad day today.overall this place is bad they prioritise the delivery drivers more than the diner's eating in the restaurant. do not sit at any tables near the entrance as the delivery driver's lean on the table's and place their bags on all the cutlery not good.

We had a lovely Mothers Day meal for 4 last night, naturally the restaurant was busy but very efficient and the food was great. Our waitress Maggie was very attentive and great at her job, a real asset to the restaurant.

Tasteless pizza and rude service My Calzone with vegetables (new on their menu) was tasteless and without spices. Looks like they are trying to save ££ on a proper chef. The service chap forgot about us and didn’t place the order with kitchen on time so we had to wait a long time and when asked where our pizzas were he acted funny and made me regret we went there. Never again.

Good service. You can always rely on this branch of pizza express to serve your favourite pizza! Family food usually arrives at the same time. Friendly staff. Always clean in the restaurant. The ladies toilets could be kept cleaner though.

Had a really nice evening with lovely food and amazing service. Our waitress Cat was so attentive, we never ran out of water and she was so polite. Made the experience so much better!

We were looking forward to our meal before a show at the Forum, after waiting about 25 minutes for our food, we were disappointed that it was cold /luke warm, we returned our pizza and pasta, and it came back after a few minutes only very slightly warmer, we returned it again and it came back still not hot enough ! We were running out of time to return it again, so just had to eat it, the waiter was very nice and took the price off the pasta dish, but I’d rather have paid the full price and enjoyed my meal, we had been looking forward to a dessert but were reluctant to spend even more money and be disappointed, at one point the chef served food to an adjoining table, so the kitchen must have been in chaos, such a shame as we were really looking forward to eating at Pizza Express, we will think twice before booking again

A young male waiter was very attentive and really knew his way around the options. It's a good place but he clinched it.

Really great service. We wanted to be quick and the staff went out of their way to get us in and out. Lovely food also.

Been a while since we visited a Pizza Express and initial impressions were good. We arrived a few minutes early for a booked table and were quickly checked in on the system and shown to our table and in fact offered a choice of a nicer table if we preferred. Our order was taken after a few minutes and we ordered our drinks, starters and main course pizzas. Drinks arrived and then the starters and pizzas all arrived at the same time. When we said we wanted the starters and then the pizzas in a short while we were told “the ticket says they are all together”. The server reluctantly took the pizzas away and returned with them a few minutes later (we had finished our starters but nothing had been cleared) and it soon became obvious that the same pizzas had just been kept warm and therefore were dry. Not something that was immediately obvious. Not the best. Greeter and main server were very pleasant but system fell over somewhere.

Very cosy store, good music. Staff are amazing and pizza is awesome as usual. Would recommend the American Hot . Although please have a look at the men’s bathroom. Water is very cold and the drier blows cold . But other than that. Nothing much !

Very friendly and helpful staff, excellent food

They have two branches. This branch has a good style and their service as well. The second branch has a racist manager. The pizza is very good. The calamari is delicious and crunchy and the mushrooms are also delicious. Ask several times, the chicken is halal, not always, so check with the service provider. The prices are average.

We had a lovely lunchtime meal, the service from the host and Sharon, who served us, was fantastic. Food came quickly and was great, it's somewhere we'll come back to when thinking for a meal out in Bath. Super friendly, lovely atmosphere, definitely recommend!

Having been to the Theatre, we popped in for dinner. The food arrived in a timely manner and was delicious We were escorted to our table and asked if the music was not too loud for us. The waitress was very attentive and ensured we had everything we needed. The manager checked that everything was in order. All in all, we had exceptional and friendly service and would definitely visit again

I ordered food from pizza express though uber eats and because the driver had to cancel the order they pizza express didn't give me my money back and trying to tell me that it automatically goes back to my account, I checked my bank account and transactios and it says that they charged me. It's ridiculous.

We were here in a large group for a work Christmas do. I'm sure everyone is trying to do their best but... we waited 15 minutes for our order to be taken and then sat for 45 minutes with just glasses of water and no drinks. We could see a wine fridge but were told the wine had to chill first and was coming from downstairs. We were way past caring if it was chilled. They didn't have enough glasses and we had to go down and get some brandy glasses for our wine. When the food came it was delicious but 3 of our party got their pizzas 10 minutes after everyone else. There just weren't enough staff on to serve three large groups upstairs and all the downstairs customers. When we asked for the service charge to be taken off the bill a senior waitress came and argued with us, asking us why and explaining that they would lose their tips. No sense of the customer being right.

It was great! Our server Morgan gave us the childs menu which i thoroughly enjoyed, drawing the snowglobe was my personal favourite part. Unfortunately, there was a pitiful amount of doughballs, with only 4 in a portion.

Greatly enjoyed the colouring in. Top tier, really got the brain clocks moving. Excellent service from Morgan, made girls night great. He’s invited any time

The service was brilliant, with a wonderful waitress called Katrina. She gave personal attention and attended to us well . I would definitely go there again. The food was good, got well presented and came quickly after the order. Katrina very kindly went out of her way to charge my phone which I needed for tickets for our next destination. It certainly makes a difference to be in the receiving end of going the extra mile! Thank you!

Possibly the worst service ive ever recieved. The man with the mohawk didnt make eye contact with us once while serving us. Seemingly thinking of us as not worthy for it? So strange. Will not be coming back here again

Came here for my sons birthday yesterday, lovely friendly staff, they even offered to turn music down as my son has autism and doesn't like loud sounds. Lovely food and atmosphere. Will definitely return again

Tried to go here for lunch but ignored by several staff members doing not much. When asked if we could sit we were told a manager would be with us shortly, no one ever came to seat us so we left.

Waited over 90 minutes for pizza. Staff outweighed number of customers. Totally unacceptable.

We turned up thinking we had a booking for 10 people (turns out it was for a different Southgate), and even though it was a Saturday in the Christmas Market, Alex on the door was still able to make room for our group. We were looked after by Charlie all night who was really attentive and chatted with us, despite being busy. The team even jazzed up our birthday cake which was so kind of them.

All visits here in the past have been excellent. Not this time though, Served a burnt pizza then after complaining served another burnt pizza, I don't mean well done I mean truly burnt.

Such a shame the food is really good everything really hot. Chefs do a great job but let down by waiting staff. The service was appaling. No smile no check on food and an age to wait for the bill. Support your chefs they are doing a great job .

Away for Weekend in Bath, visiting The Christmas market, majority of restaurants were fully booked, lucky this Pizza express wasnt, havent been to a pizza express for 30 odd years, A warm welcome, staff were very accomodating, quick service, food was ok for a pizza place, pizza did have a nice thin crispy base

Amazing place! I’m a pizza lover and here I ate the best pizza ever. The restaurant has a good atmosphere, everything is very clean, including the bathrooms. And not to forget about incredible BERNARDO who was very kind to help us with the app and he was prompt, great service. Thank you for the astonishing experience, definitely worth coming back!

Rude manager-no service. They make you wait by the door despite the restaurant completely empty. Dirty glasses and plates. Priority given to deliveroo orders whilst ignoring customers.

Our waiter, Charlie, was excellent and really helpful for our dietary requirements (gluten and dairy intolerance) which was catered for seamlessly. We will definitely return to this branch of Pizza Express.

Came with a group of students from a local school . for a learning experience of how to make pizzas and how the restaurant works ..amazing morning...great experience for our pupils ...staff were fab and all the students through enjoyed it .... especially eating their pizzas when cooked....Thanks for a great morning!

I consider waiting longer than 10 minutes for any waiting staff to come and at least take a drinks order unacceptable. I got up to leave. Complained to a waitress who said they were ‘very busy’. They weren’t. I told her so. She just shrugged her shoulders. PizzaExpress has become lazy - relying on their name. The next step after that is closure. Mark my words Pizza Express.

Took a large party in here as we were working in the theatre around the corner. Apathetic slow service and made to feel as we were an inconvenience. Miserable demeanour in general. We were deliberately overcharged too. Management needs to step up here.. I like pizza express, but there’s no excuse for poor service. A smile and general positive energy would be a huge improvement. Food was fine, as you’d expect.

This is our favourite Pizza Express. Had a very warm welcome and were well looked after by Mike. Ten out of ten for good service Mike. Also thanks to the young lady who served us. Food lovely as usual. Many thanks! We’ll be back soon!

ABSOLUTELY APPALLING. We waited an hour and twenty minutes for 4 pizzas, pasta and a salad. I could have grown the salad quicker! While we waited we saw many deliveroo orders going out of the door. When the food finally arrived my pizza was cold. The pasta was over cooked, tepid and dry. There were supposed to be “king” prawns on my pizza but I had to look hard for them as the few that were there had been chopped up. I returned my pizza and there was no apology or acknowledgement of unhappy customers. There is nothing I could recommend about this restaurant and we will certainly avoid it in future.

It was wonderful experience at Pizza Express

My partner and I had the most wonderful experience. From being able to be seated in a lovely booth of our choice, to friendly and helpful service from Bernardo, and really fast delivery of the food this was a 10/10 experience! We chose this pizza express in hopes it would be less hectic than the one at the top of town, we were right! it was really nice to not have to shout to hear each other but it still had a lovely atmospheric buzz, and gorgeous yummy pizza. We both got Margherita's with extra toppings, we also got the olives to start. I have to say the star of the show was the pink apple juice, it was delicious. Thank you so much we will be back very soon! <3

The starters were perfect with a range of different dips, mains were amazing and had items there to keep the kids entertained, staff were welcoming and helpful. Wasn’t overly expensive and great quality food! Bathrooms could do with a clean though

Incredibly sweet staff and good food with a nice selection.

We got seated down quickly and took our food and drink order quite quickly. Started off with the dough balls which was good as they were finally hot after visiting many Pizza Express’s. After 30 minutes still waiting for our pizzas to arrive. Could only see 3 staff working serving tables. (Will need to employ more staff). I would visit again if service was quicker and not left waiting a long time for our food. Also dirt marks were left in the dish to serve the garlic butter for our dough balls. Many people seated after us and still got their food before us! Not good enough!

I just popped in here to borrow a tin opener to open a can of beans for my toddler. Having been shooed out of another nearby chain restaurant after a similar request, the staff here couldn't have been more helpful. I can only imagine the service you'd receive here as an actual paying customer would be exemplary. Will be back for pizza when we have more time. Thanks again.

Delicious pizzas and good service. A table was immediately available on Saturday afternoon. Because of the open kitchen you can see the pizza makers at work. Highly recommended.

This venue made an extra special effort. Due to another venue losing our dinner booking, a hen party with 18 hungry hens came to pizza express and the staff were so welcoming, accommodating and absolutely came to the rescue. Thank you so much to all of the staff for making the day special for the bride to be- they even gave her a congratulations card. We cannot thank you all enough.

We have just got home from having a meal at the Pizza Express in the Southgate. We were served by a lovely woman named Kat. She was very happy and attentive and the service was smooth and prompt. We ordered three pizzas, some cooked tomatoes, olives, dough balls and my daughter had a brownie for dessert. The food was delicious and flavoursome. I do like this particular Pizza Express because the layout of the restaurant is open, spacious and light. We will be going back and we would 100% recommend to anyone who fancies a pizza in Bath!

Amazing service at this Pizza Express. The manager (large Mohawk hairstyle) was superb and he gave us the best customer service we have experienced in a very long time. We firstly phone to rearrange a time for a pre booked table, he was super helpful, knew who was performing at the Forum (round the corner) and gave us advice re timings. When we attended he remembered the phone call and remembered we needed quick service. Great quality food and he just made the experience. He should be really congratulated by his management team on how he performs over and above what is necessary, and you can see he genuinely makes sure each diner has the best existence. His colleague, with dreadlocks, was just super too. They clearly run a very tight shop and I could see they were training and keeping on top of younger, more inexperienced stuff. They are both a credit to your team.

We didn’t get the servers name but the man with the awesome mohican went above and beyond with his service. The pizza and dough balls were absolutely delicious! I couldn’t recommend it all highly enough!

Had a lovely time a pizza express in bath for a late Father’s Day meal. The staff are lovely and accommodating and the food was great! Would recommend!

Very slow staff who didn’t seem to be bothered that people were waiting so long to be seated they gave up and left, several times we had to go in and ask to be served as nobody was coming to our table despite the place being nearly empty. One pizza came out with wrong toppings which would be fine normally but not when the other issues had also happened.

We had Mike greet us and sit us down, who was absolutely lovely and welcoming! A great asset to the pizza express team.

Enjoyable food, excellent manager who was super friendly but a little let down by the not very welcoming service from the waitress. The menu has so many hot and spicy choices and, in my opinion, to few others and also doesn't seem to have changed in an awfully long time

Incredible food and amazing service! This is one of the absolute best Pizza Expresses I've ever been to. The pasta & pizza were extra delicious, some of the most enjoyable versions of these dishes available and arrived in super quick time with top banter and many smiles. Terrible service; took one hour for the mains to come and one of the pizzas had quite a few toppings missing. I have visited many other Pizza Express branches and they've all been good - not quite sure what's going on at this branch.

Awful pizza for lunch as part of my daughter's birthday wish to eat here. Why would anybody still go to Pizza Express with so many better Pizza places in Bath?

I was not expecting miracles, it's pizza express, however, I was hoping to actually be served. Myself, partner and 1 year old son reserved a table at 17:30 in the hope of having a quick meal together and going home. Despite a warm welcome from the manager, the floor staff seem absolutely incompetent. Firstly I tried to ask a waitress where the toilet was, instead of answering my quick question she avoided eye contact and rushed past me rudely saying "1 minute". I can understand that you're busy but it takes 2 seconds to say it's upstairs rather than be rude to your customer. (She was never returned after that "1 minute"). We waited until 7pm, completely mystified, to finally ask the manager where our food was, he was very apologetic. We asked to get it to go as it's really time to start heading home with a small child. The manager very understanding, finally came to the table with our food. As we walked to the car I tried one of the sides - stone cold. I'm speechless. We get home, wrong dips. It was just one of the worst, if not THE worst, experience of dining out. Would not recommend.

Lovely evening with great customer service from Zoe and Mike. They both made us feel welcome which made our experience special.

PIzza toppings so sparse you can see the dough through the tomato sauce. We never got the the ice cream we paid for. And paying the bill took for ever. Terrible experience overall, we won't be back.

I had a mushroom, mozzarella and sundried tomato rocket salad and it was very tasty.

Booked on line. Visited after theatre. All good our waitress was excellent and the food arrived promptly, was hot and tasty.

I have the gold award within the app because of how often we eat at the chain. However this is the slowest of any of the pizza expresses I frequent. Staff always seem at absolute capacity and whilst they're polite everything is always very delayed. They never check in during the meal and they always have to be flagged down when the course is finished.

Service was exemplary, Marie who served us cheerful and efficient. Food excellent. All together a lovely experience. We'll come again.
