Pizza Express in Broxtowe

The restaurant was freezing cold, we asked for some heating but the request was ignored. It took over an hour for the pizzas to arrive, we were a party of 12 so expected a bit of a wait but that was excessive. The young girl totally messed up the bill and we ended up paying £30 more than we should, luckily they refunded it.

Came in as a large group on valentines and could not have received better service! Our waitress Nadia was so lovely and attentive making sure we were looked after all evening. Food was delicious and came quickly despite it being busy.

We dined at Pizza Express as a table of 8, on valentine’s day! We were served by the lovely Nadia, who was extremely helpful and smiley! Nadia took great care of us, ensuring all our needs were met and laughing along with us in the process! The food was great and the service was even better! We will be returning and hope to be served by Nadia again the future!

We visited Guiltbrook today our server Gee was very attentive and super friendly, and the pizza's were fabulous 💕

Cheese on toast has far more to offer. Flat, cold, burnt, absolute waste of money & I'm no snob! Like chewing burnt cardboard.

Charged for sauces they listened, no check back. Drinks not brought altogether. Not waits. Pizza express in town 10 time better, will stick to that one Ng1.

The dough balls & pizza are really good and usually quick service, most times can turn up without booking and get a table if not a huge group. Has salads and some other dishes. I dont like the deserts, taste cheap and out of freezer and defrosted. They appear to be cutting back on the size of the classic pizza and salad, both looked smaller. The pizza express loyalty app is good, get free drink, dough balls and other items depending on status. The table we sat at on our last visit wasn't great due to the ceiling area having spot light directly pointing at one of us from behind, which was then causing a dark shadow across my food, as the lights dimmed in the restaurant, hard to see my meal! The service can be hit / miss, always pleasant, but some ppl dont seem to know what they are doing, which could be caused by a high turnover of staff? Giltbrook pizza express is on a retail park and has lots of parking and shops.

Went here to celebrate a friends birthday. The restaurant was very cold and we had a table in the window which made it even colder. The staff were very friendly and helpful , talking us through the AP which saved us £23.00 off the bill !! We had a combination of starters , all delicious and various Pizza and salads for mains , all cooked beautifully and very tasty. The drinks and food were reasonably priced even before the discount. We will be returning once the warmer weather is here.

Service was slow. Cold half cup of coffee. The pizza chef, jezzzz what a man . One of the best pizzas in the area. Be very careful when making payment. Me and table next to me . Had problems with card payment. I ended up paying twice. For my meal with my mum. Lovely food, excellent service, particularly from Lucy, who was not only attentive, but went above and beyond to keep our two kids entertained with some extra pizza dough and cookie cutters to use like playdough!

Excellent service from the team. Really impressed by how welcoming and attentive they were especially with my 4 year old son who was keen to check out the pizza making and was invited to get involved by the team and roll out some dough and cut his own shapes out. Really appreciated them making it such a nice experience for him, helps so much when going out with our kids. Food was good and we had a lovely family evening out. Thanks

Pizza Express is situated in the middle of the complex making it really accessible whichever shop you visit. The staff are friendly and the service is efficient. We opted for 2 pizzas, dough balls and a dice salad. The food was piping hot and well cooked on the main bit mine was a little burnt on one edge. The restaurant is clean and the tables are not overcrowded but the lighting is poor for reading menus. For our food including a Coke and a latte cafe it came to just over £46. Personally I find this a tad expensive compared to Pizza Hut where the salad bar is included on the price.

This Pizza Express is very family friendly. Good staff.

One of our favourite places to eat locally. The team working there are all brilliant, and the food is consistently tasty and well presented. Unfortunately we couldn't visit for several months, but when we made it back we were greeted like old friends! Will be back soon.

Went here on the spare of the moment, nice inside but a little cold. Was asked if I’d download their app for free dough balls, did this. Ordered two pizzas, never eaten here before so a little excited, but finally when they arrived we both was somewhat disappointed, my pizza was garlic prawns, about 8/9 small frozen type prawns that didn’t have the remotest taste of garlic, both bases was under cooked and slightly raw in the middle. Four G&Ts and two pizzas £66 Won’t be going back here in a hurry unfortunately

Delivery service from Giltbrook took 2 hours from time of ordering to delivery. First time and last time never again!

We visited on a rainy Saturday afternoon and as expected, the restaurant was very busy. The service was absolutely dreadful and the food took over an hour and a half to arrive. It was very mediocre to say the least. I found one particular member of staff ( possibly the manager) very abrupt and had zero customer service skills. If she is the manager then the staff have no one to lead by example. A good manager & staff team should at the very least be apologising to all the customers who had an unacceptable wait for their food. In hospitality it’s how you handle a situation when things go wrong. Sadly this particular pizza express had a staff team who couldn’t have cared less. This will be our last ever visit. Such a shame!

Poor service, took ages to pay the bill. Food was poor and very pricey £121 for 4 adults and 1 child for a pizza.

This was a fab evening out, the staff are excellent and very child at what they do, the place is clean and the food is truly superb. I cannot fault it at all The manager and staff deserve credit for making this place what it is 10/10

Amazing service! We went for a birthday meal, service was absolutely excellent, food came really quickly and staff efficient, friendly and went above and beyond. Everyone enjoyed their food. First time we have visited the Giltbrook restaurant and we’ll definitely be back.

I was in the area quite late at night after driving over 2 hours in the rain (to collect an IKEA order!) and Pizza Express was one of the only places still open where I could get some food. The team were very accommodating and the takeaway I ordered was prepared quickly (and tasted great too)! They even offered me some ice cold water whilst I waited. Thank you very much, you made my evening :)

Visited on 24.09.23. Service was very slow in terms of having order taken and general attentiveness wasn't great. I had considered going elsewhere but was really hungry. Luckily the food was really nice and some extra staff started later into service which seemed to help. Just generally a bit disorganised and tables not being cleared promptly etc

The restaurant itself is very dark and gloomy and could definitely do with a bit of a renovation. We were told on arrival that the wait for food would be about 40 minutes , although this ended up being closer to an hour despite the fact the restaurant was not even half full. There is a really good vegan menu with lots of selection. We ordered the vegan doppio dough ball starter, but halfway through eating it the waitress came back over to check we had ordered the double as what had been brought out to us was apparently just the small portion (pictured). She then returned with the rest of the starter that they had forgotten to give us. The dough balls were nice and hot (about 14 balls in total) with three really nice dips. When the pizzas finally arrived, one was already quite cold but we ate them anyway seeing as we had waited so long. The Padana was delicious and one of my favourites on the menu. The vegan American Hot was quite disappointing not only as it was cold but also would have nice to add a few more vegetables or fresh tomatoes. There was a single tomato and piece of pepper on it which, after asking staff, we were told was to mark the pizza as a vegan meal in the kitchen. We had the cold pizza removed from the bill. Overall it’s a very expensive restaurant despite not being the best experience, however there is a 25% student discount available and a rewards scheme. The staff were friendly and dealt with the issues quickly.

Great service and always clean and tidy. I generally like pizza hut and also find there app good for deals but this is the best one in the area. Cant recommend this place enough, good food, good service and at a fair price. Love the new Lotus Biscuit desert as well

Came here with a party of 10 our order for drinks was partly taken as obviously the waitress decided she couldn’t wait for everyone to decide,so came back with some of the drinks, then had to go back and get the others, placed our orders for food, when it arrived was missing my pizza a portion of dough balls and also another meal, told the waitress said Will sort it, 5 minutes later the other meal came no pizza or dough balls after another 10 minutes called someone over who later found out was the manager was told she would sort it straight away, 10 minutes later still nothing asked again was told probably been put at back of the queue now everyone else had finished it was over half an hour after everyone else had their food my pizza arrived uncooked I said please cook it more and box it as it was now too embarrassing to sit and eat while everyone waited during all this time no one asked if we wanted another drink or checked on us, we decided to leave with out having desserts not that we were asked, then asked several times for the bill which took several attempts to get we did get a discount eventually but no apology by the manager the staff and manager just didn’t appear to care, personally I don’t think they should be in the hospitality industry I wish I had read the reviews on here as obviously this is not an isolated incident

Extremely slow service and an error with our food order. Arrived at 5pm, offered drinks by a lovely waitress and she took our order. We waited a while for food, when it came we were missing a pizza and doughballs. We then asked where the pizza was to which the waitress responded 'we forgot to put it in we will do it now'. Another 20 minutes passed, by this point we'd finished our meals apart from one who'd not received any food. We chased it up again and they 'forgot to put it in' again. Extremely disappointing service. We were never asked if we wanted another drink so sat the entire meal with empty glasses. No offer of deserts. The missing meal finally arrived but wasn't cooked thoroughly so we had to return it back. At this point it was 7pm and we had it boxed up to take home. The manager did offer us a free pizza and doughballs and did deduct a discount from the bill for the poor service. An unfortunate experience for our party of 10. They could have made a lot of money topping up our drinks. We won't be returning.

Slow service, pizza was luke warm. Below average food. Says a lot when the dough ball starter is better than the actual pizza. Had vouchers and somehow still seemed expensive? If you look up the ceiling is incredibly dusty. Not overly jmpressed with the interior, felt outdated. Also, wish they would just cut the pizza. The gimmick of cutting it yourself isn't fun over the age of 6.

Last week we dropped into our local pizza express in Giltbrook to celebrate our 1st wedding anniversary, as we had had the pleasure of dining in the Gretna Green branch the night before we got married last year. We were seated quickly & Lucy came to introduce herself, she had a lovely warm welcoming smile, we asked if by any chance they had Irn Bru, sadly they didn't, but it opened a lovely conversation about our experience in Scotland & hers, she was so friendly & also very knowledgeable about the menu, she really helped make our evening & the food was delicious. We opted for the Romana pizza, it has a beautiful super thin base, with really tasty toppings. If like us you have trouble choosing just one topping for your pizza, they offer the option of half and half which was great, my husband particularly enjoyed the La Cubana, pulled pork with salsa & lime & the bbq brisket burnt ends & i love the goats cheese with caramelised onions & the chestnut mushrooms with rosemary. Also the cheesy dough balls are a must! Sadly we didn't have room for desert, but they looked yummy. We will be visiting again soon. Thank you very much for a really great experience.

FOOD 3/5 The food was great- one of our pizzas were burnt so they gave us that one plus a free unburnt one. The dough balls were great as per usual. They didn't have the sorbet in stock but gave us a free sundae instead. i had the billionaire truffle sundae but it had a huge amount of chocolate sauce in the bottom which was not very nice to eat. SERVICE 1/5 The staff were polite but honestly that was it. Once we ate our food we were waiting for over half an hour to be served and for our plates to be cleared. My dad had to ask for dessert menus and even then the plates weren't cleared. Our waitress took our drinks and food order and then we served by others, which I can appreciate since it was slightly busy. I was happy to wait about 10 minutes for plates to be cleared and dessert orders to be taken, but when it hit the 15 minute mark I was quite fed up, although my siblings and parents had found ways to amuse themselves, we shouldn't have had to do that. ATMOSPHERE/SETTING 3/5 The restaurant itself is quite small but well laid out. I thought it would be a struggle to walk between tables to get to the bathroom / doors, but the tables were quite spaced out. It is open plan, so there aren't any walls apart from the outer ones, and you can see almost all the tables from your one, although we were in the corner booth, so that did amplify it quite a bit. I can't say I'm a huge fan of open plan restaurants (that is just my personal preference, others may like open plan), as they don't offer much privacy and I found myself making eye contact with everyone around me too much. It is quite loud once the restaurant starts filling up, and I felt overwhelmed and slightly overloaded with all the people and talking. Overall it was OK, although I really did expect a much higher standard, since my family and I are Pizza Express veterans, and are used to better service. We may have just come at a busy hour, or they may have been short staffed; but they didn't seem to acknowledge that at all. Thank you!

We've been regulars at Pizza express for years but I'm afraid the prices are getting a little beyond us now. Our bill came to over £100.00 for three of us although we did have two glasses of wine, and two glasses of beer.

The manager was friendly and the food was fine but our waitress didn't seem to want to be there and so was a bit of a lacklustre meal from a service perspective. Shame as it was for the kids' birthdays and a smile and a happy birthday goes a long way.

Really good, table a bit on top of each other. Went to book online but no availability for when we wanted so just turned up and it was all empty. Good service though

Pizza dough was not fully cooked and toppings were half cooked or raw. Garlic butter for dough balls was lacking garlic so just butter. I only had 3 bites of my overpriced Legarra Romana pizza as the dough was not fully cooked nor were the toppings , just ate the rocket salad leaves which is their idea of a salad. My husbands pizza dough was also not fully cooked and the mushroom toppings were also raw. Not going back really disappointed. Staff appeared to be inexperienced and did not offer a refund nor replacement, Paid the bill in full , left no tip.

Came with family and just wanted a coffee and snack while they had lunch. First coffee was cold second one was tasteless but did not want to make a fuss so did not send it back a second time. After a good hour I was pleased to leave. Service was very slow.

our food order had apparently been lost which resulted in nearly a 45 min wait for starters, we asked our waiter who did ask the kitchen staff but failed to tell us what was happening... We caught another member of staff's eye and asked her, she told us the situation and at least apologized. We were not given water like everyone else, sat for around 20 minutes AFTER Food waiting for our drink. Overall service was absolutely terrible, wasn't overly busy and had a few empty tables... Others were complaining about the service too. Sadly won't be returning.

We used to go to Giltbrook Pizza Express quite regularly a few years ago when our kids were younger but haven’t been for a while. We decided to have a takeaway yesterday and settled on a collection from Pizza Express. So I drove 20 minutes last night to pick up the £90 plus order from Pizza Express for 19:30, the Giltbrook one is the one near IKEA Nottingham. Pick-up was hassle free and it was then a 20 minute return journey. Unfortunately most of the starters were a disaster. 3 ‘normal’ dough balls and 1 Hot Honey dough ball, all we’re over-cooked on the outside and undercooked / doughy on the inside and they hadn’t risen. One of the starter dishes, chicken wings was enjoyed. My wife called the restaurant and talked to David the manager. By this point we had started our mains which looked better which she fed back but also explained that the quality control leading to such poor dough balls was unacceptable. David said he would refund this part of the bill. We enjoyed the main courses up until the point that my wife found an earwig in her Grand Ceasar Salad. At this point we all stopped eating. David was contacted again and I ended up emailing him the same photos that I have attached to this review. An. Earwig. In. Her. Salad.

Visited midweek on an afternoon. The service was very good, our waitress was called Jade and she was very pleasant. Food was a little slow arriving, however we weren't overally in a rush. Pizza was tasty, although not quite on par with other Pizza express restaurants that I've visited. We also had doughballs which were nice. It's worth downloading the pizza express app to get offers on the food. Our bill came to a reasonable £22.

All place was dirty, dust falling down from ceiling in to my food. Had to wait very long time till somebody bothered to come over and take our order. Food were not very good value for money. Do not recommend this place.

We were rather early eating here, so wasn’t busy - staff were pleasant and attentive. Service was prompt. Used Tesco vouchers so was good value. Food was lovely - a mushroom pizza for me, husband wanted carbonara, which they’d run out of, so had the lasagne instead ;which he enjoyed. Toilets were very clean. No complaints - would return on our next trip to the retail park.

Unfortunately I was not very impressed with the food or the service we received. Very miss match music and it wasn't very warm. I certainly wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

I had a complex dietary requirement with gluten and lactose intolerance. They served an amazing pizza adhering to my diet restrictions. I enjoyed a delicious pepperoni pizza without any symptoms after a long long time. Thank you pizza express. I'm definitely going there again. Highly recommended.

Was a little apprehensive about coming back to this Pizza Express after the poor service last time. However, my husband persuaded me and our kids love Pizza Express. The waitress we had was amazing - really friendly, smiley and attentive. Nothing was too much trouble! She really was a credit to the restaurant and a really good ambassador for Pizza Express. She made us feel at home and look after us well. The food was excellent - much better menu and great value special offers. Loved the heart-shaped dough balls. Our pizzas were perfect. Hot and tasty. The polenta chips were to die for. Having always struggled to find something to eat on the dessert menu, tonight with the new menu we were all spoiled for choice and I struggled to find only one thing. The sticky toffee pudding was lovely. All in all, this was the perfect visit to this restaurant and we'll definitely be back. This was a great birthday meal for my husband and we all loved everything we ate.

Really gone down hill, service always been pretty slow but today customer service was absolutely shocking. Ended up with extra items we'd not ordered, coffee so weak tasted like they'd used same grounds for all 3 of us. Pizza was good which is why they scored 2. Go here often but definitely put me off from returning, no manners so apologies or than yous I'm very disappointed pizza express.

A pizza was a great size and really tasty. We also had a small dessert with a coffees. We loves go for a chocolate brownie with latte. The restaurant was quiet and staff are very friendly. Very comfortable to stay and good for gatherings.

We had a nice afternoon. Delicious food. I recommend Pollo Pesto, I love pasta. Nice and friendly staff, very welcoming, they took care of us. Despite being busy, we didn't wait long for our food.

Partner and i visited on a Friday evening at 6:30pm with no reservation, we were seated quite quickly (fantastic), but were informed there was a 20/30 minute wait for food, which is fine, we had not seen each other for a few days so had...

I have food poisoning thanks to these guys!! Been to a different Pizza Express (in designer outlet village) and I loved the service there and the food, compared to giltbrook. In Giltbrook, they do smaller portions although considerable charges are put in place. The food wasn't as tasty as it was in Designer Outlet and I could see the ham on my pizza was quite old. The pasta had burnt bits very hard to chew and funny taste. I don't have any food allergies, but I now have allergies to pizza express! The service is very poorly managed, had to wait 30 minutes to order, the woman serving us clearly had no wish to be there. She had to count 3 times the cash 😅🤣 I guess it was too hard to calculate the rest. We left before she came back because we were in such a rush to get somewhere else. Bad bad service! Overall we found it disrespectful towards their customers and it's not the first time these guys are wrongdoers. I thought we'd give them another chance, but they failed miserably. Not going back.

Currently sat at Pizza express Giltbrook retail park. It's been an hour and a half, no sign of our mains. It took over an hour for half a dozen dough balls to arrive. Appallingly slow service!

27th Dec lunchtime. Booked for 1pm. After being seated, took about half an hour to get our orders and then another hour for food to come. Food is good (hence the stars for food and zero for service) but service is terrible. Manager/waitress was unapologetic and could do with being more efficient at peak times with experienced staff or just updating customers periodically. Terrible experience that I hope does not tarnish the restaurant's reputation by a few staff!

Great food and super friendly staff. Really quick service to get a quick bite while shopping! We visit this restaurant every time we come to Giltbrook and the experience is always as great! Definitely recommend booking if you're visiting at a peak time but that's really easy to do with that app

As always the food is spot on but I have to say from our recent visit the customer experience was lacking. On arrival we were told the food wait time was 30 minutes. We weren’t in any rush so this was acceptable. After waiting 1 hour, our food was finally served. Sadly it seems the amount of online orders they received on the night took precedent over those that were sitting in the restaurant.

Just had a lunchtime meal at Pizza Express East Midlands Outlet. Great service staff helpful and pleasant. Food really good. Had a birthday dinner at Pizza Express Giltbrook. There were 6 in our party and all had a starter and Pizza. The food was excellent service was quick. Staff were very friendly and friendly.

The service is so slow. We’ve been here several times and each time it’s just as bad. Waiting times of 45 minutes for a pizza when half the restaurant is empty. We will be going to the Derbion in future.

Good food, polite staff, a bit overpriced

Been to this location quite a few times and the service is always top notch! Food always fresh and tasty and wish that head office would make the Carbonara Pizza a permanent fixture on the menu. Price wise is really good and regular visitors to PE should download the app to unlock special offers and discounts.

We have never had a problem here and go relatively frequently. Staff are always very accomodating with the children however it can get very busy and parking far away is usual

We sat near the door and it was quite busy with other guests and delivery people in and out all the time, it did detract from the evening. However the food and service were fantastic as always. I was particularly brave as usually I go for Sloppy Guisseppe and never try anything else. Instead I opted for the barbecue ends and it was gorgeous. Lovely sticky barbecue sauce on the lovely crisp base. Didn't even have garlic dough balls instead I chose a mini pudding and cappuccino. Couldn't fault the staff as they were extremely busy, not only with bookings, walk ins, take aways and delivery people.

Good food especially the new pizza with crispy duck. Always seems to be a problem with very slow service. Very good and helpful manager with excellent customer service.
