Pizza Express in Islington

Hi I would like to say a big thank you to Emanuel for waiting for us we were a table of 19 people including 12 children . He did he’s very best as he was the only waiter waiting . He had no help and the restraunt strted to get busy and he managed it all by himself . We also booked online and when we got there there was no booking and the lady looked stressed out and made us feel abit uncomfortable this also has happend a few times before . However Emanuel has served us a few times and has always made us feel welcome .

Really lovely food. Friendly staff and very welcoming . Will definitely come back for lunch again!!

I've been coming to this branch for about four years now (on and off) and the servers that have been there consistently have always been absolute delights, especially Emad, Connie, and Selam just to name a few of the excellent wait staff. I look forward to chatting with them as much as I look forward to eating the food, which is always delicious. The range and choice of vegan options they offer is also brilliant.

Where seated at a 4 seat table very quickly,great service and lovely food. Good atmosphere and would go again.

Arrived at 5 pm. Waiting for the kids. Ordered wine and some olives. Bit weird that I had to start swatting flies. Asked the waitress who said and I quote “yes other people have complained”. She stated she would ask the manager. After an hour of using the menus to swat flies and no sign of the manager I asked the waitress again. She pointed out the manager and I asked him what are you doing about this? “I’ve logged the problem” was his response. No apology no “ I’m sorry” just an attitude of “not my problem. Naively I suggested a quick visit to the local Tesco , all of 50m away to buy some fly spray or something the response was “I’m not allowed to do that”. Food so so but overpriced. Waitress lovely but working for a manager who’s purpose was ?????

Well this was a refreshing treat. Popped into Pizza Express (Upper Street) and I felt I should make use of the offers sent to me via the Pizza Express App. Truth is, I had a feeling that would happen... he he. We were welcomed in (lady friend and I) an immediately I noticed we noticed a warm and friendly environment. We sat at our table, free to choose and I got to work on the whole link the app to the table, place your order on the app, apply rewards to the order, stand up and touch your toes, spin around 3 time, do a little dance, sit back down and hope and pray. I ordered the Classic Pizza - La Reine and my Lady Friend ordered the Classic Pizza - Fiorentina. We also ordered the Bruschetta Originale and Garlic Dough Balls for a starters, and Raw Slaw as a side. The Garlic Dough Balls were as expected, fresh backed, gorgeously melt in your mouth texture. The Bruschetta Originale was good, however the base was more or less a large oval shaped Dough Ball, half flattened. It started to feel all a bit too doughy, but it was fine in the end. The pizzas were actually quite good. I was surprised by this. The last time I visited Pizza Express was about 10 years ago. I was never too moved by the pizzas at the time. My Classic Pizza - La Reine (without Ham) was pretty good. The quantity and ratio of mushroom to olives was spot on and baked to perfection. My lady friend reported similar of the Fiorentina. The icing on the evening had to be our designated waiter who was just fabulous all evening. It felt like if I had asked for a Lamborghini, he would have simply replied.. "Be right with you Sir" This guy was fine dining, seriously. I made sure to let him know as well, and typically he just remained humble with a shy 'thank you' and proceeded to tend to our empty water glasses. Top notch geezer!!! Definitely recommend this Pizzerie!!!

I had downloaded the app, which entitled me to 2 classic pizzas for £12 plus a free side. Our server was called Yozlem and the minute we arrived, she made us feel special. We asked to taste a couple of wines before ordering a bottle and she was happy to do that. We also asked for our free side to be served first and then one pizza and a break before the other pizza as we wanted to take our time over dinner. She arranged that with no fuss and checked back after each course. What wonderful service! The pizzas were also very well prepared. A lovely experience.

Ordered two pizzas as a takeaway on Thursday 4th of August. We got home and noticed some garnish. It wasn't garnish, it was cheese!! Tiny pieces of cheese. The rest was just tomato topping. Come on Pizza Express, we know items are costing more, but surely you can put some cheese on your pizzas. The amount of cheese on the two pizzas was a disgrace.

We called in on a Saturday night with a a large group. We were accommodated and looked after very well. Remember this a fast food restaurant chain so expect the pro's and cons from this. Service was good and our food was good so what is there not to like? Not expensive either.......

We was ignored for 10mins and then another 30 mins for starters the whole time they ignored us jus watching the computer screen probably for the tips. There was another couple who got served 45mins after their order was taken I went with children and we watched tables who came after us being served, there was more than enough staff so no excuse however we saw like three of the staff on duty drinking beer and laughing. Btw there was barely anyone in the restaurant at the time The toilet were really bad aswell I do not recommend this branch Never againnn

A nice experience today at pizza express Islington staff where friendly and helpful with me changing some bits on my pizza

This was going to be a different review entirely but then I remembered that this branch has only just re-opened and decided to moderate my comments. Corporately, Pizza Express has been tardy with its re-openings and this displeased me. On a day when the temperature had reached 38 degrees, although it was cooling down in the evening, it was nice to sit outside but the overall experience was a little uncomfortable. In my seventh decade, I have taken the QR code more or less in my stride but I was very annoyed to have typed for several minutes in the app only to be told that the order could not reach the kitchen and to have to give it verbally after all. Social distancing was observed and, as elsewhere, this is going to do nothing good for throughput. In addition, people are visibly cautious about returning to restaurants. The menu is very much reduced but the food was good enough. Garlic King Prawns were tasty in their own right but appeared to have had no relationship with actual garlic except, possibly, being in the same borough. My pasta was not especially hot. I very much regretted not seeing an itemised bill as the ice cream order had been misinterpreted and I am not convinced that I did not get charged for two. Staff were friendly enough but (understandably) nervous getting used to a clunky system. It would not put me off altogether and the lack of ease is by no means confined to Pizza Express so we just have to hope that some greater normality returns.

My 2 friends and I visited this branch on Saturday evening and we were truly impressed by the service we received. Our waitress was called Elitsa and she was just wonderful. One of my friends has a variety of severe food allergies and Elitsa was superb guiding her through the menu and by being so attentive, she instilled confidence in my friend who struggles to enjoy eating out. Once the food was ordered, we relaxed and enjoyed the food and drink, happy that our friend was being taken care of. Would highly recommend this Pizza Express especially to parents with children with allergies as well as adults. We wished we had taken a photo of our pizza's as they looked amazing but we had tucked in before the thought crossed our minds.

Comemos uma pizza maravilhosa e uma Cesar Salad, a salada estava sem graça, o molho cesar estava sem sabor. Os valores estavam um pouco altos para uma pizza simples.

Worst experience ever. If I could give 0 stars I would. Was with a party of 11 food came cold and late. One of the group members did not receive her food till 20min after everyone else once we reminded to waiter that she had ordered. I ordered the risotto which came luke warm and tasteless. When asking to not pay service charge was yell at say take the service charge and get them out. Spoke to the manager while leaving to be met with a blank face and really no care in the world. Then to top it all off while waiting outside the restaurant for my partner the waiter came up to the window squared up his shoulders to intimidate me as I am a women. Worst pizza express ever will never go back. And to be honest would not recommend to anyone who like nice food or nice service.

The staff is competent and quick. Pizza Margerita was reasonable, coleslaw had a bit too much sauce which made it pretty rich. But the athmosphere is very friendly. Nice place.

Asistí al restaurante para un almuerzo tardío con mi otra mitad. Decidimos buscar otro lugar para comer, así que nos levantamos y nos fuimos. Por lo general, un gerente o trabajador lo detendría antes de irse y al menos le preguntaría si todo estaba bien. Estos nos despidieron. No es el peor servicio al cliente que he tenido, pero definitivamente la peor sucursal de pizza express en la que he estado.

Went for a quick mid week dinner and the food was great. Sella sorted out my unnecessarily complicated pizza perfectly and we both had a lovely evening.

Me miraron como si hubiera pedido la solicitud más irrazonable. La comida era buena, una pena que el servicio dejara el lugar.

Great service by Justyna. We had pizza and calamari and took dessert to the hotel. Convenient location on a busy neighborhood. The prices were were good.

This restaurant is situated on a very busy road at Islington Green served by many bus routes and close to the Angel tube station.

Tasty food served by a very kind and helpful waitress who warmly welcomed my guide dog and was offered a bowl of water. Throughout the entire lunch our waitress really took care of me.

Went for a work do and had a lovely evening. Lovely food and great service. Considering it was not very staffed, waitress Selam was fantastic- gracious and gave a wonderful service. Will be back :)

El personal tenía un "no hay problema" y la actitud totalmente servicial, ayudándonos con la visita de mi y de mi hija (ruedas de usuario). Incluso me ayudaron a escoger bonos para utilizar, así que no sólo era la comida fabulosa, también era muy barato! El servicio es fantástico. Recomendado.

Mi hermana y yo decidimos fuimos a cenar a Pizza Express en Angel. Nos introduce al restaurante y que estábamos esperando que alguien nos sentarse. Por desgracia, nadie vino a vernos, así que decidimos acercarnos a la cocina con la esperanza que alguien pueda registrar. Después de un par de minutos a un chico con camiseta roja llegó y nos mandaron a la esquina del restaurante que esperar allí porque él necesita para caminar por este camino, que era muy grosero conmigo y me quería salir inmediatamente, pero mi hermana tiene un amigo cuyas obras allí y ella siguiera. Después me di cuenta de que es un administrador de aquí. Mi hermana y yo fuimos al baño han sido sentarse en uno de los servidores. Pedí una botella de cerveza para mí y mi hermana porque no hay cerveza de barril. Cuando mi hermana volvió, ella tenía un aspecto al menú y ella me pregunta si me gustaría comer pasta o pizza. Had a very bad pizza here which tasted funny when I ate it and made me feel ill afterwards. Chef burnt my pudding and had to make it again, so had to wait ages for that. Maybe they have a new chef.

We booked for a pre-theatre dinner before going to Sadler's Wells. Given we had booked, we had a window table waiting for us on the first floor. It was quiet to start with, but soon filled up. The staff were friendly and helpful. There is the usual menu, which is good. The service was quick and efficient and we had plenty of time to make our way down to the theatre.

I love Pizza Express on Upper Street. It’s always very welcoming and the staff are lovely. I love sitting upstairs by the window just watching the world go by. Still the best Gluten Free pizza and always good. Great service, nice people, no better pizza.

Another group outing with friends with this restaurant being favourite due to transport links. I would have preferred somewhere else as the first time I didn't think much of the food. We had booked a table for 6. We sat upstairs next to the window overlooking Upper St. One of the bulbs above was out so lighting was dark and we had trouble reading the menu. Again, like last time they didn't have some of the starters or the mains so we had to make different choices. I had a veg pizza which was nothing special. One in the group has to have gluten free food so this is why this restaurant is popular. The Prosecco was nice and refreshing, I enjoyed it. The tiramisu was lovely. We got 40% off the bill with a NUS card saving £58. Probably the only positive thing about this place. The Prosecco and pudding were nice. The pizzas are not. I am gonna have to put my foot down and try my hardest to change my mates minds about this place. They don't mind this place but I do.

We were going to the local theatre and wanted a nice meal served efficiently before 'curtain up'. Pizza Express certainly delivered - efficient and friendly service, perfectly cooked pizzas with soft eggs on top, delicious chocolate fudge cake for dessert and great red wine!

Visitamos este restaurante con un grupo grande para una cena temprano. Una cosa que puedo decir sobre cualquier lugar de pizza express es que sabes lo que obtienes. El menú es variado, con algo para todo el mundo. La comida siempre es de un buen nivel y fiable a un precio razonable. El personal era amable y servicial, y realmente no me puedo quejar. No es genial, pero no es pretencioso, es lo que es buena comida a buenos precios.

Amazing staff , very polite and the food was very good , been there with friends yesterday lunch and we had very nice times .

We went here for our regular get together. We'd booked and had a nice large table at the back. We had 2 voucher deals and had to use the 20% off the bill as they told us they had ran out of most of the starters. The only available starter was garlic bread. We didn't have any starters. One of us had gluten free pizza which is a positive for this chain. The pizzas were OK nothing exciting. For dessert I had tiramisu which was lovely. The price was reasonable with 20% off. I wouldn't normally go here to eat and this meal confirmed the reason why. The food was nothing special. The fact that there were no choices of starters is bad for a restaurant. Behind us the heater was on and they said they couldn't turn it off as it was not working and the engineer had been called. We weren't impressed as it was a hot day. My friend was sweating and didn't realise the heater was behind her until we'd finished our pizzas. I wouldn't go here again or to any pizza express.

Great gluten free pizza at a fair price. Nothing fancy but definitely tasty. They seemed very prepared to make sure my meal was 100% gluten free. Indoor and outdoor seating. Would definitely recommend.

Pizza express is pretty standard but I like their pizza. The difference is usually the service, here, today was great. I enjoy meals much more if waiters are helpful and chatty.

This branch is a regular, but infrequent haunt of ours before theatre in a nearby pub. Last Saturday we visited with 5 friends. My wife cannot eat pizza pastry but there's a fair selection of other things on the menu. She asked for Rissotto...Sorry Madame we don't have any, Lasagne.. Sorry Madame.......;Canelloni Sorry Madame...;What do you have ? Pizza and YIPEE, Pollo Pesto. The pizzas were OK. The usual Pizza Express acceptable but uninspiring standard. The waiter was friendly and jolly (he did well in the face of adversity). Finally I was surprised to see our bill had "Service Charge Not Included" highlighted in red on the bill. I'm interested; is this Pizza Express policy as I haven't seen in my local Cardiff Pizza Express?

Located on Islington Green opposite the Business Design Centre and Hilton Angel Islington hotel. I seemed to have been the first into the restaurant when it opened at 11:30, so service was prompt ! Good food and attentive staff. Recommended should you be in the area !

We came here cos we had some vouchers as 2 for 1. The waitress wasnt the happy and welcoming person that you wish to find in a restaurant. The place is nice and cozy with a open view kitchen... but too many table one attached to the other. Too much fast food style for the prize. As a starter we order the squid: 6 mini frozen squids! As mains: risotto (it suppose to be with salmon but they were out so was served with chicken) and a pizza fiorentina. The risotto was mediocre, tasteless, overcooked and the ingredients werent mixed at all, like it s supposed to be in the italian cousine! So they offered us some parmigiano..... IT WASNT PARMIGIANO! it was again some tasteless cheese. The pizza? Basically only dough with some tomato, and 2 leaves of spinach. CHILDREN SIZE. The drinks? As aperitivo we ordered a sloe prosecco..... they served us a glass of prosecco with no sloe gin or berries inside. Absolutely no worth for the prize! Never again.

Easy access but appeared like a four walled prison with a bit of freedom. The girls were quick in arranging a table and chairs but obviously short staffed. There was crumbs etc everywhere and there was delay in serving. Do not come here if in a rush! The pizza itselfWas tasty but don't feel shy asking for the olive oil etc.

Food - a pizza and pasta - ordinary at best - pasta - pretty stodgy.Monday lunchtime - so hardly busy - but was appalled at the state of the toilets - vey smelly - toilet blocked - no paper in the cubicle. No excuse for lack of cleaning and general hygene awareness.

Went here after visiting The Almeida Theatre to see the remarkable "Mary Stuart". Up to the usual Pizza Express standard

My boyfriend got the calzone which was edible...I got the chicken arribiatta...the pasta was hard and crunchy as was the chicken... I pointed this out to the waitress, after returning from the kitchen she said "yes the chef had it in the oven"...eh??....very poor....Italian restaurant's should know how to cook and serve pasta....I got it taken off of the bill. ..this experience has put me off pizza express altogether

Visited this pizza express for a quick pre cinema dinner. Considering the restaurant was really busy, the service was quick and the food arrived promptly. Pizza was to a good standard and excellent value for money with the voucher we had so no faults there, however this restaurant crams so many tables in it's borderline ridiculous. There was little more than inches between the two tables either side of us and also one table behind. Appreciate the restaurant wants to serve as many covers as possible but this seemed excessive!

Ordered Pizza for delivery for a few of us, Arrived pretty much on time, That's about it!All nice & Cold!!! Coleslaw...A couple of spoonfuls in a tin tray, Mozzarella And cherry Tomatoes probably enough for a small mouse, Measly portion of cold dough balls.All for Approx £40.00!!! I'll just pop into Marks next time!!!What I just don't understand these Guys must be doing this Daily....How can you get it so wrong!!! London never gets it right I'm afraid!!!

Disappointing. I took my 11 year old Grandson after the ballet and we had to wait so long for our meal to arrive, even though they assured me it would only be '2 minutes'! The staff were friendly but the service was poor. Looks were not very clean either - not sure when they were last checked!

I went to this Pizza Express on a Saturday evening at about 9pm. It had a few tables occupied which was quite less than the buzzing neighbouring establishments - Byron, Cabana, Wahaca etc. But my daughter insisted on pizza so there we were. I was hoping to do a quick dinner. It took 15 mins and 3 reminders so get a waiter to come and take the order. And when the person arrived, he had no pen so had to go again - it was a comedy but we were hungry and in no mood for a laugh. Ordered food, that too was tremendously slow to arrive. To the point where when it arrived we told them to bring the box for Pizza as we couldn't be bothered to wait. Instead of asking whether there was something wrong there was a attitude of disdain and they just left a box on the table. There seemed to be enough staff to cater to the limited number of covers they had , and they were all moving from one end of the restaurant to another, but surprising nothing was getting delivered. So lots of movement and no progress! Unless , they were all filling and sending Deliveroo orders, I am not sure what kept them busy, it certainly wasn't the customers in the restaurant. Food was never remarkable at Pizza Express. It was ok it you go out with kids and they want to have pizza. I am not sure whether food has deteriorated or it has simply not kept up with new restaurants which are a lot better. In any case, relative to others, food is now below average both in terms of menu choice and quality. Other problem is that they have overdone voucher program to a point if you dine there with no voucher (2 for 1, started and main for 9.95 etc) you feel cheated. I didn't use voucher and everyone around me would take a printout out of their pockets before requesting a bill. So although my bill wasn't high, I left with a bad taste that it could have been lower if I have printed the voucher. I admit, I could have done that on my phone but many details to fill so didn't bother.

Popped in for a pre show meal, waitress looked bored, and told us all tables werereserved. At 11.45 on a Sunday morning, Really ! Chairs filthy,and the whole plcae looked distincly uninviting. We voted with our feet and crossed the road the the vastly superior Ask Italian. I would suggest you do the same and avoid this restaurant.

Love pizza express but not last night soulless sell up service not the staffs fault but obvious hard sell corporate training gives the whole experience a McDonald's feel. The pizza came cold must have been sat around for a while

This was my first time visiting Pizza Express after living in London for 4 years. The food did not disappoint. I got the Soho 65 which came topped with mozzarella, parmesan and rocket (asked for no olives) and it was divine. Good size for one person. The menu is quite extensive with tons of pizzas to choose from as well as pastas and other Italian dishes. If none of the pizzas are to your liking you can also build your own. One of my friends got the lasagna which came out piping hot and was delicious. We also had a bottle of prosecco which was good and decently priced. The only issue I had was with the service. Our waitress was impatient with us and seemed snobby. Other than that it was a lovely meal.

Went here prior to going to the O2. Had to have some food! The restaurant was busy, but we got a table immediately. The waiter was very accommodating and took our order quite quickly. The drinks came immediately. We didn't have to wait long for the great pizza's to arrive either - a surprise seeing how busy the restaurant was. The food was good, well cooked and tasty. The waiter was attentive, but not pestering. We finished our meal and the bill arrived in good order. A really pleasant quick bite to eat - friendly waiter and staff. If you need a quick bite - you won't go wrong here!

Ordered delivery from the local Pizza express- it's just been delivered 1 hr and 40 minutes later, the pizzas are stone cold with basically no toppings, the drinks are missing, and we were delivered dough balls (missing some!) without dip. Called the pizza express as soon as it was delivered - explained that items were missing and the order was cold and instead of asking what was missing or asking the name of our order etc- we were told just call delivering and not their problem. Just shocking - have paid for things not delivered but the service from the colleagues has been appalling.

Brilliant deal with the vochers no problems - booked on line and table ready for when we walked in despite a busy Friday evening- good experience and good ambience.

Stiffed by the pizzas. Ordered 5 pizzas on site for take away, and by the time we walked 500m home they were cold like they were out the fridge! In August!

I do like Pizza Express as a chain and this restaurant is great, Managed to grab a seat outside to watch the world go by, good service, food was lovely and didn't have to wait very long at all.

We ate here our first night in London while staying in Islington. The service was fantastic and the food was sooo good. My husband had one of their pizzas, while I had a pasta dish. We sat out on the patio and loved people-watching as families and couples walked by. A wonderful environment and we'd definitely return.

To be fair starters came quite promptly however mains took a long time and others were getting served even though they had come later. But nice food/atmosphere all in all

Me and my partner went there after a shopping trip up west end waited half an hour for our pizzas slight burnt on the base margarita pizzas my partner had a chocolate glory not much brownie or chocolate and for that price you would expect better value for the price we paid.

I visited here with 2 friends for a birthday lunch. We were place on a round table next to the kitchen. In fact, it was so close to the kitchen, my coat nearly brushed against the stack of pizza bases covered in tomato puree. This table was also right in front of the disabled toilet door. Inches away in fact, and anyone wishing to use the toilet had to squeeze past us. Several parents with young children choose to use this toilet so was really annoying to be sat here, especially with a toilet door constantly opening behind us and any smells escaping. It was quite lucky that there were no wheelchair users in the restaurant as the table would have had to be moved to give them access!Eventually we got sick of sitting here so asked to be moved. I also pointed out that it blocking access to a disabled toilet but no one seemed to care. We moved tables but 5 minutes later they had seated someone else here. I am absolutely disgusted that the staff found this table placement acceptable. I would expect this in a dingy bar maybe but not a high street restaurant! If the toilet was out of use I might understand. But it wasn't and people were using it and I and it seemed to be the only disabled toilet. It seemed like they wanted to pack as many people in as possible to generate maximum profit and didn't care about hygiene or the comfort of their customers. In addition, they gave my vegan friend garlic butter with her starter despite her requesting garlic oil. And they completely forgot to apply the voucher code to our receipt so had to get the bill re-done. Really unimpressed. I find Pizza Express average at best, but this visit was way lower than my worst expectations.

At Islington Green and near to Angel Station and many bus routes and opposite the London Design Centre. Ok it was half term and was extremely busy with family groups and a party group upstairs, so obviously popular, but that didn't excuse the problems I experienced.I went for a quick lunch, so didn't want anything too heavy, so I chose 2 starters (dough balls and calamari) and a dessert (primo gelato - described on the menu as "new"). and a cup of coffee. The two starters were brought together (as suggested by the waitress) but the dough balls were barely warm (they are usually very hot) although cooked. The calamari was hot bur, maybe a little overcooked.When the plates were removed I reminded the waitress (who was different from the first) that I had ordered a gelato and was offered various choices, which included vanilla, which I chose. What neither I NOR THE WAITRESS appreciated was that it was not one of the flavours available for the dish of my choice. When it arrived, I did query if it was the right desert and was told it was. When the dish was delivered, 2 scoops of vanilla ice cream, a biscuit and a leaf of mint, I queried if this was the "new" gelato and was assured it was,When I asked for the bill, I offered some Tesco vouchers, which I knew could only be used to pay for the food and not the coffee. When the bill arrived I found that it showed only the basic coppa gelato and they had taken vouchers in excess of the amount of food, but the coffee had still be charged in full. I asked to look at a copy of the menu, when the mistake was found. Surely, the waiting staff should know what the items on their menu were for ?The manager was called.His offer to provide me with the proper dessert for free - which was a bit late, as I was ready to leave, having already eaten one. His only other offer was that I did not have to pay for the coffee - which I had, in effect, already part paid for with the voucher. As I was running late for a meeting, I had little choice but to accept.Th moral is be aware of problems.

Nice dinner here love the dough balls. Pizza always of a good standard. Staff not greatly attentive. Overall ok would visit again as not really good or bad.

To be honest I first walked in the Angel Pizza Express restaurant looking for a gluten-free alternative. I was really happy to discover that all their pizzas can be gluten-free bases. I usually tried to find a place to work from - wifi access and a plug. This restaurant had both. The only irritating thing was one particular waitress who looks obviously annoyed by my request to move to a table closer to a plug. When she came to take my order she was more than cold... Because they had to set up another, they forgot cutlery in the process. I didn't mind but help myself to the table next to me. This waitress seemed really upset and gave me attitude every times she walk by the table, really? Piece of advice: if you can't handle customers, find yourself another job! I really think twice before I tip or go back!

Das wirkliche Gute an Pizza Express in London ist, dass es glutenfreie Optionen gibt. Somit hab ich auch eine glutenfreie Käsepizza bestellt. Sie war auch relativ warm und lecker, obwohl der Belag für knapp 13Pfund mehr sein hätte können. Das Restaurant ist darauf ausgelegt, dass man schnell isst und wieder geht. Gemütlichkeit kömmt keine auf. Der Service war freudlich, auch wenn ich 3x nach der Rechnung fragen und das Bier selbst einschecken musste. Finger weg von der scharfen Sauce, denn es ist nur Öl, welches nicht scharf ist. Alles in allem ein OK restaurant, aber eben nicht mehr.

We ate here with Tesco vouchers, pizzas and starters all satisfactory. Service not the best we've had in a pizza express, but probably not the worst either. It just seemed a bit of trouble to be asking for ice, or straws, or water... Pizzas tasty not problem with anything we ate. The restaurant was busy which just shows how popular it is. Was just rather disappointed to discover a Christmas deal on offer after we had all finished our meals!!! Which would definitely have been our choice.

Ok service. Ok food. Not the best calamari I have ever eaten but still ok. Pizza was ok too. Still all ok and would use again. Not really sure why taste card isn't allowed on calamari but that's what they said. Bit disappointed by that really.

I usually don't mind the pizza express chain but the service in Angel is so poor it's off putting.If you happen to be in the area spend your money else where!Service:Staff not welcoming and not attentive. Just terrible.

Let me know tell you about our experience at Pizza Express Angel / Upper Street.I had booked a table for my son's birthday and 9 of his friends; When we arrived at 11am the restaurant downstairs was not set up, they were sweeping the floor with chairs on the tables, we did not mind as our table upstairs was ready for the party.To me, it seems that the kids party was a burden to the staff, they barely smiled and it took a good 15 minutes to get someone to come, greet us and and to get the party started.The kids went to wash their hands and the pizzaoilo was ready "for the party", he introduced, mumbled few words, did not interact with the kids, the pizzas were already on the trays, which means the kids did not get to play with the dough or anything, then the chef said: "ok, which toppings would you like?", I had to ask him where the toppings were and what were the options? he had to go and get them and then place on the tables, as he clearly had forgotten about them, the whole pizza party experience lasted 10 minutes max.Then, the kids were waiting for the pizzas and started to get bored as it took a while for the food to arrive, so one one the mothers had to get them seated and made them play games.I had to ask the waitress to come and clear the table just before the food arrived as it was messy. They would not come anywhere near our table.The food arrived, the kids ate, then it was time for the birthday cake, when the waitress arrived with the cake and the candles, as we were singing happy birthday, she suddenly asked who the birthday boy was, that was disappointing, surely, if Pizza Express advertise their kids party, then the staff should put more of an effort to make it feel like a birthday party and at least ask who the birthday boy is....When we arrived I had given clear instructions as to what I was paying which was the kids food, tea, coffee and soft drinks for the parents, I had specifically told them to get the money directly from any parents ordering food or alcohol, this was not done, when we asked the bill, we were given our bill and one bill for all the adults who had order food and drinks, I did not feel comfortable asking the parents for any money, once again, so I ended paying for the adults food and drinks, this was very disappointing.The waitresses seemed so unhappy, they did not smile even once, we did not feel comfortable. We did not get any balloons nor the certificates.I went to another kids party 2 weeks after at the Camden branch, and it was a complete different experience, the kids had a waiter for them for the whole duration, the kids got to play with the dough and the flour and it was a great experience which lasted 55 minutes, where the one on Upper Street lasted 10 minutes max.Very disappointing.

I'm sure everyone has been to a pizza express. They have decent pizzas and this branch is no different. The staff are friendly also.

I like this chain. The pizzas are consistent in each branch and there are many flavours to choose. Service is always good and the pizzas are served pretty quickly - as the name suggests.

This Pizza Express makes lovely pizza and the waiters/waitresses are always very pleasant and accommodating.

Nice chain restaurant right across from our Hotel in Islington.Nothing but carbs, but that's why its called Pizza ExpressCrappy beer selection and they did not know what a Magaritta was :(Pizza was tasty.

Food is very good and Pizza is made with first class ingredients and close to the best italian pizza. Personnel is very kind and polite. Really enjoyed it !

Buena relación calidad-precio, al menos teniendo en cuenta lo que cuesta comer en Londres. Buena atención; por poner una pega, quieren aprovechar demasiado el espacio, por lo que las mesas están muy juntas. Recomendable sin duda.

Been here a few times and always found the staff friendly and helpful. This time it was me and disabled son, who needs food pureed/blended so we carry our own small blender, and the staff here could not do enough for us (got to mention Paolo by name as he had served my son the week before and remembered all the things he liked and needed!) No problem to find me a corner to plug in the blender, extra bowl, spoon and napkins just appeared and actually both my son and I like pizzas that are no longer on the menu (him Rosso; goats cheese and beetroot, me legera pomodoro) but not a problem as they did them for us anyway! Then after the meal they whisked away my blender and washed it for me! Pizza Express may not be the best pizza you'll get in London (I think it has got quite expensive and the garlic bread is not what it was; not nearly garlicky enough, not just in this branch of PE) however when you need to find somewhere wheelchair accessible, with a disabled toilet and enough space to get around you sometimes need to make a bit of a compromise; but I am still always basically happy with what I get at Pizza Express and it is definitely one of my favourite chain Italians.

The dough balls for starters were yum but I was a bit disappointed by the vege lasagne - just a bit too cheesy and not spicy enough for my liking. I've been to other Pizza Express restaurants throughout the country and felt there was a lack of atmosphere here. Maybe I just timed my visit wrong.

Come here s lot, pizza actually OK (and location convenient). But today, tried to use one of their (many!) email offers; 2 courses for £10. Good deal .... But .... Starters restricted to 3 basic choices, and when getting a Romana type pizza there is a surcharge, which was not clear or advised by the staff. Very disappointed. Service can only be described as OK, not bothered about me!

Nice restaurant situated opposite the green, surrounded by an array of bars and restaurants.Normal pizza express quality here, nice menu. Good clean hygienic restaurant with happy knowledgeable staff. Toilets and restaurant are very clean. Food is delicious and normal p.e quality.

Nous sommes allés manger un dimanche soir dans ce restaurant. Les pizzas sont très bonnes (fines et grandes), la carte est variée.Cependant un peu d'attente, le serveur nous a offert un plateau de petits amuses-bouche en guise d'apéritif pour s'excuser de l'attente un peu longue.Une réduction de 20% sur l'addition était disponible sur un plan de la ville (Metro). Restaurant agréable et bon.

I'm reviewing the Islington restaurant, but not only, this goes for pretty much all Pizza Express restaurants in the UK, I presume. I've been to this one recently and another one near St Paul's Cathedral. Why, you may ask? I wanted some pizza the other day and couldn't find another pizza restaurant nearby - I suspect this MUST be the reason why this mediocre chain of restaurants is successful, because for sure there is MUCH better pizza out there and for much cheaper prices (like, literally for half the price I can get a large, delicious authentic wood-fire oven baked pizza for 6 pounds in my neighborhood and in other great pizza restaurants in London!).So... let's talk about the pizza. I can get frozen or refrigerator-chilled pizza from the supermarket, heat it at home and it will taste the same as it does at this restaurant - at times even better! The pizza here is completely mediocre, even the cheese is bland. The ovens are not traditional, so you won't get that rustic flavor. Even the tomato sauce is nothing special. Bland, bland, bland. Yet in many neighborhoods they will be the only pizza restaurant available, hence why people keep going and are willing (stupidly) to pay double the price for a pizza that's nothing special. Word of advice: if you want real pizza, don't be lazy, look up "Best pizza restaurants in London" or something like that, and you'll find amazing restaurants with delicious pizza for half the price of this joint and even the atmosphere there will be nicer.

Really nice to be able to eat out gluten free and it actually taste nice! Had the American pizza, it was really nice and crisp and held together (other coeliacs will understand how nice not to have it crumble!) Also felt reassured as they have been trained by Coeliac UK and the menu was really clear as to what was GF. You can even have a Chocolate Brownie!

We had an evening meal here with friends, mainly due to the 25% off food voucher offer that was being offered to the friend we had visited.Nice table upstairs, but too chilly as it was near the AC vent. Food and service were good. I think the larger pizzas were better as I was a little disappointed at the meagre amount of toppings on the standard range. It was pleasant enough and with the discount a good sit down price.I think I would have preferred to sit downstairs where the oven is and much warmer.. I would probably only visit again with a voucher

Your know what you are getting when you visit Pizza Express.First class pizza (American Hot always) and a good wine list for what it is.Visit every couple of months and never disappointing

Situated not gar from the Angel Station and opposite the Business Design Centre. I arrived just after opening time at 11:30, with only one other table with customers but by the time I left just over an hour later most tables were in use. There were many families with babies and I think they ran out of high chairs. As it was Half Term, there were also many families with children of school ages. Whether these were local families or visitors to the area, I am not sue, but the restaurant is obviously very popular.The food was good and well presented and the staff pleasant and attentive.Recommended.

I had a pleasant experience at pizza express in Edinburgh and thought I would give my local one a try. I was so disappointed with the meal. I ordered the Pollo Pesto. It was presented to me looking like slop with large chunks of chicken breast and very large circles of red onion. It was also swimming in green oil. It lacked flavour and the pasta was overcooked. I have nothing good to say about the meal. I would not recommend this place. It is not value for money and if you are like me the look of the food will put you off.There are many food options in Angel, you have been warned...go somewhere else.
