Pizza Express in Fife

A disappointing return visit to an old favourite. We all chose "classic" pizzas. The bases were un-risen and hard. The pizzas we ordered were all over-cooked. The Fiorentina had an egg baked solid, and scorched spinach. We would have had better quality from a supermarket chiller. Clearly an issue with the kitchen on the night, but the manager should have known better!

Catrina served us very well indeed. Her attention to detail was most evident from where I was sitting. She ensured the glasses were sparking,clean and polished ….just how I like them. This is one of the essentials in a restaurant. Her table service was timely and faultless. Italian food and beer is not high on my desire list BUT tonight the pizza was most appetising and the Nastro thirst quenching. All in all a good night made by excellent service ….in a busy restaurant . Well done Catrina . Thank you.

We asked for a pizza and pasta dish which was advertised on their menu outside their shop at £15 each. When the man rang up the order he was charging us nearly £17 each dish. When we challenged this the man went outside and came back saying "oh that's an old menu" !!! Absolutely disgraceful retort as far as we are concerned.. If the menu shows a price then that is what they should sell it for. We cancelled our order out of principle and the guy didn't even care. He just shouted through to the chefs in front of everyone " CANCEL THAT LAST ORDER" .. Not impressed and will certainly never go back!!.. Shame on you and your false advertising!!

After arriving in St Andrews on an unwelcoming rainy night, and finding that the hotel we'd booked was unexpectedly not prepared to serve us dinner, we had to find somewhere to eat in a hurry. My wife has just had twelve weeks of chemotherapy following breast cancer, and her diet is limited, so this wasn't easy. Pizza Express couldn't help but offered us the chance to come back on spec in half an hour or so - and a very helpful, friendly girl on the desk, Olivia, even took our name so that we'd be remembered. We came back, were seated against the odds, and Olivia served us brilliantly. No one could have been kinder, more helpful or more friendly. Indeed all the staff were good, but she was exceptional. Dear restaurant manager, two points: (a) you employ great people, and (b) you really want to hang on to this one. The food arrived quickly, and was predictably, reliably good. There was a mistake in the order, which they instantly offered to rectify without question. The restaurant was crowded and all the servers and staff seemed to be working incredibly hard, but the atmosphere was relaxing for diners, and we didn't feel rushed in any way (or on the other hand, abandoned to a long wait). We've eaten in a few Pizza Expresses, but this one will remain in our memory. Well done St Andrews. Well done Olivia.

Staff were excellent, food good, would recommend. Really busy but lovely waitress, she was excellent. Starters, pizza and pasta were really good.

Initially we were turned away and told they were full. This seemed odd as there were lots of spare tables. We were booked a table for 45 mins later and wish we haven’t bothered and gone to Mozza instead. £61 for three pizza and three soft drinks which is extortionate for lunchtime. Service was very average, the pizzas were ‘ok’ so saves it from being a one star. Would I go back…..no!

We do not make a habit of visiting fast food chains but the St Andrews Pizza Express is different. Brilliant location, outstanding staff and of course great value for money using converted Tesco vouchers. In addition the food is excellent. I have enjoyed linguine and cannelloni on our last two visits great sides and starters. This restaurant is always busy which tells a story. It is centrally located in beautiful St Andrews and close to all amenities including the local cinema. I cannot emphasise how brilliant the staff have been on each of our three visits with and without young children.

Very disappointed to be turned away as they were “full” ! Really? empty tables with used plates uncleared on outside tables, hardly full or prepared for the incoming “reservations” seems like a common catchphrase, we have heard a lot Thanks to the customer who sent us to Mozza around the corner who were immediately welcoming - and the food is brilliant!

I had a wonderful meal with my friend! We were served by the lovely Kyle and we had a great conversation about Fawlty Towers. Food came quickly, true to restaurant title, and was delicious :)

Ordered the Spicy guissepe delivery, you would think you couldn't forget to put cheese on the pizza, but you'd be wrong. Following me contacting them about this, no compensation was offered. Won't be ordering again

We desperately wanted to eat at Little Italy, but did not have reservations and they could not accommodate us, so in a panic, we chose Pizza Express. It wasn't horrible. I would equate it to past experiences. However, this time I had two hungry children and I was also on the verge of hangry! We ordered a few apps in addition to our meal because we were so hungry. One child spilt an entire drink. Food took a long time to come out, but everything was good. The meal did seem overpriced based on what we were served. Anyway, our bellies were filled.

I'll be honest, chain restaurant wouldn't be my first choice, but as a family of four with two young children pizza express looked to provide the best value in the area and was welcoming for our slightly boisterous children!! I have to say it was one of the best family meals we've had. The restaurant is modern, nicely laid out, and staff were attentive. Kids were content with their activities and their menu was great value. Our own pizza and calzone were tasty too. Dough balls were delicious. Timings of courses were just right. Thanks for catering for us, we would definitely come back if in the area.

Gluten free and dairy free are catered for here. Our server was well informed about dietary requirements and very helpful. It is just like every other Pizza Express in the country so I can’t say it was special.

I dine here fairly regularly, courtesy of Tesco vouchers. I’ve never been disappointed. Very professional, friendly staff in pleasant surroundings. I’ve tried Pizza Express in Perth and Stirling but St Andrews is the best due to consistently decent pizzas and good customer service.

We frequent Pizza Express a lot as we have strict dietary requirements, so we feel safe when visiting other parts of UK. This branch in St Andrews has, hands down, the best dough balls/ base that we have ever had- they were simply fluffier, tastier better in every way. Our waitress Sam was incredible - it was quite late (10 pm), and she must have been exhausted, but she was attentive, patient with our queries, and made us feel very welcome in St Andrews (one of most beautiful and friendliest towns/uni). We were really impressed that the manager was really proud of his team, introducing us to the chefs as well, Hannah and Mike. Plus we had the amazing new addition of a vegan dessert- delicious. All in all one of our best experiences at a Pizza Express

Nos topamos con este restaurante durante una visita aleatoria a la calle. Andrews Aunque no teníamos reserva, el personal fue muy amable y nos dio una buena mesa de todos modos. Como mi madre no tenía mucha hambre, ordenó un entrante mientras que yo pedí un plato principal que no fue un problema en absoluto. Los platos eran absolutamente deliciosos y el servicio perfecto. Third time in pizza express St. Andrews since moving here 16 months ago and the second time we’ve been served by Samantha from Pittenweem. What a lovely young lady. popped in for a late lunch/early dinner. we were shown to our table and menus were quickly given to us to make our selection. Waitress gave us plenty of time to make up our minds and once ordered each course arrived quickly. our waitress was very friendly and efficient, the food was great. The only reason I haven't given it 5 stars is that the downstairs disabled toilet could have been cleaner and there was also no toilet paper

Siempre es una buena opción en una ciudad en la que no haya estado antes. No me decepcionó. La comida era deliciosa y en particular el pollo milanés. El personal fue muy amable y la camarera fue de gran ayuda con el conocimiento de la universidad que visitaba el día siguiente para el día de puertas abiertas. My first visit being unsure and gluten free.

Pedimos a través de Deliveroo y nuestra comida llegó 25 minutos tarde y frío. Llamé al restaurante y el Gerente (Euan) fue posiblemente la persona más ruda con la que me he encontrado en la industria de restaurantes. Nuestra comida se entregó para ser entregada DESPUÉS de la hora de llegada de Deliveroo, por lo que NO es culpa de Deliveroo que nuestra comida estuviera fría, sino del restaurante.

Having been en routes to, and in Australia for almost three months, this was our first visit to Pizza Express for some time.

We were looking for somewhere for lunch and in St Andrews your spoilt for choice. I fancied a pizza so in we went. Great pizza, great service and not too expensive. We loved it.

We had lunch here yesterday, first thing to strike me was the scruffiness of the male staff.

Visited a few different branches of the chain and always feel you never get let down. Showed to our table quickly by a pleasant staff member and drinks order taken at same time . Both pizzas we ordered arrived within 15 mins of ordering and were delicious ! All staff we spoke to were very friendly and chatty . Particularly liked the interior in this one was lovely to sit in .

We eat lunch at Pizza Express regularly and are never disappointed.

1st time visiting here and will be the last. Couldn’t find baby changing facilities wasn’t made clear so in end had to cha he my baby on floor of women’s toilets .. the dough balls to start with weren’t nice and didn’t get a lot of the garlic bread thing, pizza was burnt in places and tasted horrible. Not a big pizza fan but with my wife being celiac it was a good chance for her to have a gluten free pizza and it did not disappoint. We both had the same one but hers was smaller in diameter but still ample. Service was excellent, wine a bit pricey but nevertheless will defo be back.

We were staying in St Andrews on Sunday evening and we thought we had nothing better to do that stroll into a restaurant without a booking! How wrong were we? All the restaurants we tried were very busy with about half an hour / hour wait for a table so we stumbled across Pizza Express and decided to give it a try. Although it was also very busy the staff found us a table quickly and took our drinks order. We ordered pizza from the menu but there were other options available. The restaurant was busy and loud but the pizzas were delicious and the staff were excellent. We would recommend this restaurant and would go back again if we were in the area.

Éramos un grupo grande de 14 personas que buscaban buena comida y ambiente para celebrar un cumpleaños. No nos decepcionó. La comida estaba deliciosa. Todo recién hecho y servido caliente. Nuestro servidor trabajó muy duro para complacer a la mesa. No es fácil con una gran fiesta. La comida tenía un precio muy razonable y no podemos entender por qué es un lugar regular para que coman. ¡Bien hecho!

Nous sommes arrivés tard à St Andrews. Un des derniers restaurants encore ouvert. Acceuil sympathique, pizza plus que correctes, quantité plutôt petites mais savoureuses. Rapport qualité prix très respectable.

Visited here and had the 02 Priority main course deal which is excellent value. The meal itself didn’t disappoint either and was both plentiful and delicious. Staff very helpful too. Will definitely be back

I can't believe I feel compelled to share my experience at Pizza Express but it was so good I want to sing its praises. We are in St Andrews for four nights and our first night is a Saturday. Every restaurant we tried was booked so we thought lets find a pizza place. This restaurant is part of an international chain so we were not expecting much but we were blown away. We had a good bottle of Chianti and a pizza that is new to the menu. We were told it was the most popular Pizza in China. It was called Ragu and it tasted like really delicious spaghetti sauce on an extremely thin Pizza crust with the addition of Fennel and garlic infused olive oil. It ranks among the best I have ever had. Service was a little slow but every restaurant is packed to the walls and this is no exception. We followed our pizza with two delicious small desserts. What really impressed me is that when I inquired about a food issue I have, the waitress was able to produce a binder and very quickly tell me what would be safe for me to have. So much better than running back to the kitchen multiple times to find something safe for me to eat and so much more reassuring that they might have it right. Well done!

First visit here with tesco vouchers. Shared an American Hot and it was lovely.

We went here for a meal after a football match. We had a table of 10 which was ready when we arrived a bit early. The drinks order was taken and the drinks arrived quickly. We had quite a wait for our food order to be taken, I think they thought we were waiting for a couple others to arrive.

We didn’t get a chance to stop until later in the evening and the restaurant was very busy. We only waited about 19 min for a table to open up and were seated. We had basic drinks, ordered bruschetta and a pizza each. Thin or regular crust options. All our pizzas were enjoyable. Bruschetta was on one loaf, so could be difficult to share. Cost was around 10 pounds and up for pizza. Indoor and some patio seating outdoors as well.

My wife and I have made a couple more visits since I last reviewed Pizza Express and, again, we have had very positive experiences.

Our waitress was super smiley and helpful throughout our early evening meal. Great pizzas and pasta were enjoyed by all (3 children and 4 adults). Dough balls were a particular success. Children's menu and activity packs were also a hit.

I had a very nice lunch with my family on a Sunday afternoon. The salad was amazing. We got very good pizza and the little one really enjoyed her kids menu. The service was good and the atmosphere at the square beautiful. I would recommend this place for anyone who fancy an Italian option when visiting st Andrews.

I had a lunch in the Pizza Express. There was a quite good selection of pizzas and other portions too. The pizza was good but little small'ish and somewhat pricey. Anyway the location of the restaurant was good and there is outdoor seating too. The staff was friendly and the restaurant was cozy.

Not living in the UK or Ireland, Pizza Express (Milanos in Ireland) is, and has been a family favourite for well over twenty years. So, as tradition dictates son #2 and I were in St Andrews checking out the university and of course Pizza Express was where we had to go for dinner. For the first time ever we were greeted less that professionally. The manager informed us if we were to dine, we’d have to be out by 6pm (it was 4.50pm when we arrived) as they were going to be fully booked. No smile, no welcome so a totally different experience than ever before! I did question if they had bookings for the whole restaurant for 6pm, as it was a large restaurant with additional upstairs seating and I couldn’t imagine on a Tuesday evening the whole place would be packed at 6pm. It’s unusual to have time constraints when you’re about to have a three course dinner, but David said, rather curtly, that it was up to us if we stayed or not. Deciding to stay (somewhat with curiosity to see if the restaurant, would indeed be full at 6pm) as we do love Pizza Express. Thankfully the three ladies that waited on us were so lovely and professional (especially Courtney) that it was encouraging to see that the manager’s unprofessionalism doesn’t trickle down any further than himself.

Visited here with my boyfriend for lunch last week. There was a nice atmosphere in the restaurant and a lovely outdoor seating area. Service was good and we thoroughly enjoyed our pizza. Really good quality and well worth the price. Would definitely return.

You know what you are getting when you go to a Pizza Express - that's kind of the point. But it is really refreshing to come across a chain where the local employees sparkle and make the evening something more than you had anticipated on walking in. There were no peppers for the pizza, so, after discussion with our entertaining and charming waitress, we had our Calbrese pizzas with Peppadew peppers - definitely the way forward! Great service, good pizzas - thank you to the staff and kitchen at St Andrews.

Great friendly service despite them being really busy on a Wednesday night, nothing was too much trouble. Plenty of choice on the menu too. Well worth a look if you're in St Andrews

Not really a fan of Pizza Express in the past, my friends who love it badgered me into giving it a try. Have to say I was pleasantly surprised. Definitely more upmarket from Pizza Hut (and pricier too!) but the pizza was delicious (and massive!) We have 4 kids and they all enjoyed their menu with a wee hat to decorate and wear to keep them occupied for a while. We were offset from the rest of the diners in a quieter area which suited us fine and the waitress was very nice and efficient.

This was our third visit to Pizza Express for lunch and the standard has been consistently excellent.

I recently visited the St Andrews Pizza Express on a visit to Scotland to see my friend. The staff were welcoming from beginning to end. Our server, Courtney was exceptional and she really made us feel welcome. I would also like to mention another member of staff, Malcolm, who was a polite young gentleman who could make a mean espresso martini, he truly enriched our experience and will 10/10 visit again. Went here on a Saturday night. Food was good, served quickly (by Courtney) who was a great waitress and full of chat without being intrusive. We would certainly return. It would also be nice to see Pizza Express do their lunchtime deals to make the place busier and with a greater ambience.

What a lovely lunch at pizza express, Vegan pizza and Padana pizza plus a bottle of Prosecco. The food was excellent as was the Prosecco . Very light and clean restaurant with a lovely view out of the window of one of the local St Andrews churches. The service was excellent ( thank you Barbie) will definitely be going back
