Pinchos in Chelmsford

Delicious food & lovely atmosphere - its a little tight and not much space but it adds to the authentic feel of a real spanish tapas restaurant! Paella especially was so tasty & great value for money!

This place is pretty small but it’s mighty in the way they deliver great food to your table, the service was good and food even better, you can over indulge in all the different dishes they offer, I went with 5 other people and we over ordered on everything, the paella was great and personal favourite was the prawns, everything had lots of flavour and they was generous when it come to portion size, also the sangria washed it all down nicely I will be back 👍👍

I strongly recommend this restaurant. It's in a great location and the staff were all very polite and had top quality customer service. Our meal was absolutely lovely and the atmosphere was wonderful. The only thing stopping me from giving this review 5 stars is the lack of Vegan options on the menu. With the massive increase in both the number and quality of meat substitutes nowadays, it would be very easy to make a lot of the tapas vegan. Also some clear markings on the menu of which dishes are vegan like most other restaurants do wouldn't go amis.

Really enjoyed my meal here. Nothing to complain about...all good, even the price!!

Came here for the first time for lunch while in Chelmsford. Have to say I'm very impressed with the place, everything was great here. Didn't realize it's been in the town for so long but definitely worth the extra 1 minute walk from the main high street. We had the lunch menu tapas which was very good price for the quality of the food. Portion size is fair and I'd say about right for lunch, but might want to order more if you're hungry. We had a jug of sangria which was ok and again a fair price, although would have liked to go for a little better sangria if there was an option. Service was also great, all staff very friendly. Will definitely be back for more food soon.

As a Spanish, I was expecting to find Spanish food. Instead of that I found dishes with Spanish names but they didn't taste how they should. Dishes with less or more ingredients than they should... I wouldn't come back if I want to have Spanish dishes, I'm sorry.

First time here despite living in Chelmsford forever. So nice. Flavours were amazing and whole experience was so nice. New favourite place

Best place to eat in Chelmsford

Food was great after waiting 30 minutes to order - the young dark haired waitress outside seemed to want to serve a table and then look at the floor to get inside ignoring everyone else . Had to go inside and order in the end. Not the greatest experience

Went on a lovely sunny Saturday evening it was very busy but we were given a nice table A big party was in nearby very loud but it didn’t matter added to the atmosphere They were so busy food took a while but that suited us because we weren’t in a rush Good menu choice we did over order but ate most of it In fairness I have had better meals here but we did still really enjoy it

Sat outside for a drink in the sunshine and it was lovely. There seemed to be a decent selection of drinks on offer and the service was good.

I've been wanting to go hear for a while and it really didn't disappoint. It gets the sun late until the evening so sitting out in one of the nicer streets of Chelmsford is realistic for much more of the year. The food was truly excellent. All fresh, delicious and fantastic portion sizes for the paella in particular. I will definitely return to try more of the menu.

Very nice food, great value for money!

Haven't been here since new owners took over and was a little dubious as to what it would now be like as was always the place to go. Well all I can say was it was great, still has that welcoming feel to it and the food was amazing. Johnny gave us a warm welcome and was lovely to chat to throughout the evening. Ella our waitress was spot on with her customer service and making sure we and all others were attended too, whilst constantly clearing and resetting dinner places. It was quite busy for a Weds evening but we experienced no delays and wasn't rushed either. We left with our bellies full and totally recommend the Paella and White Sangria. Lovely setting, clean environment and we definitely will be returning. Only thing I would recommend is that they bring back the Fri and Sat live music, this is what made this the place to be for a dinner, singalong and dance without feeling you were in a club and finished before it got too wild. Other than that we look forward to the returning here especially in the upcoming Summer months.

The staff were very friendly, the service was brilliant and the food top marks to the chef.. just small feedback the brownie didn’t state on menu it had nuts, one of the party can’t eat them, not allergic just don’t eat them. Might be a good idea to mention this on the menu. Had a lovely time and will definitely go again .. Dawn 02.04.23

Booked her for a Friday evening meet up with friends. On entering the restaurant looked welcoming and atmospheric. However, although we had booked we were led down a narrow, spiral staircase to a sad looking basement room, with bare walls which looks like it was once a storage room. The staff were great and friendly, but the food was most disappointing. It looks like everything is pre-prepared and just warmed through to serve. The meatballs, the two potato dishes, the aubergine, the beef dish and the croquettes were all luke warm, and the potatoes were soggy, the cheese on the top of one of the potato dishes and on the aubergine was not hot and melting as it should be if just cooked but sat on top, a cold and plastic like topping. They had also forgot to put the ham in the croquettes as these were bland and tasteless. The chilli and garlic prawns was the only dish to come up hot. They were in there shells but we were not given a finger bowl or a dish to put the shells in. I asked for a plate to put the shells on and was given one, and I used wet wipes I had in my handbag for our hands, however supplying these should be automatic by the staff. As a group we did not complain as we did not want to ruin our evening because we do not meet up very often , and also the staff were running up and down the stairs trying to serve both levels and were doing there best to be friendly and helpful. It was also obvious that if we ordered more / different dishes we would just get more of the same. Overall good effort from the serving staff, shame about the dishes that come from the kitchen.

Friendly staff, good and quick service. Sangria and tapas alright. Paella very affordable especially for the large amount of seafood but just utterly not authentic and to be honest pretty tasteless. "Paella Valenciana" should traditionally have rabbit, chicken, snails and beans, while this one was more a paella mixta and just very overfilled in the dish which left it watery and not crisped up like it is supposed be.

Myself and a group of friends had a lovely Friday evening at Pinchos. We had to move our table by 30 mins due to traffic but this wasn’t a problem when I called up, they were more than accommodating! The food was delicious, it all came out together - quite often in other tapas restaurants the food comes out as it’s ready. The prawns were a highlight for me, and loved the different varieties of croquettes. My only comment would be that the portion size of bread and oil was a bit stingy. We had the white and red sangria which was great! Service was excellent, plenty of staff, always someone around if you needed anything. I will definitely be recommending to friends and family, and hope to be back soon!

Damp Saturday and we greeted with a smile. Table available despite not booking. Tapas to start breads and olives - perfect portion size and delicious. Ordered Paella Valencia - seafood and chicken for two. Small delay however, worth every minute. Tasty and filling. Portion a little big but delicious and flavourful. Large king prawns, plenty of perfectly cooked muscles and squid and oodles of shredded chicken. Loved it. Glass of rosé was perfect accompaniment. Service excellent although had to ask for plate to put food debris on. Finger bowl would have been useful, although unisex toilet only a couple of paces from tables. Toilet immaculate. Paper towels useful although hand dryer was efficient. Ambience calm and inviting. Not too hot either. Great food delivered and eaten within our hour allocation as were then off to cinema round the corner. Would recommend.

It's okay,maybe I visited it at the wrong time

Great tapas bar, food was a decent standard. Meat Paella was outstanding but the seafood one was so so. Will defo come again as so many dishes were great

Decide to pop in and check out the food . Empty restaurant so seated ASAP. Wine ordered and served quick but bottle and glasses left for us to pour. Might understand if was busy. Food ordered and starter arrived very quickly but was like it had been already prepared and left in fridge , very cold. I was surprised at the charge for bread with tapas . The rest of the order arrived mid starter which we were ok with but lacked room on the table. Main tapas felt like again it had been precooked and reheated. Chorizo was very overdone. Whilst it was all edible I think it could be so much better.

Microwave food at its worst I’ve spent lots of time in spain and the nearest this has got is stansted airport… everything sorry and tasteless waste of time and energy

This place is a very cosy and lovely little tapas place. Great deals at lunch time. The food is absolutely gorgeous and the best sangria I've tasted in a while. I definitely will definitely return and have recommended it to friends.

Amazing menu, had 3 tapas for 12.95 lunch deal. Super value. Exceptional food. I would recommend the prawn pil pil, chicken breast with courgette and the beef with mushroom. All were superb. Cant wait to go back!!!!

The best tapas in town. The staff are great, the menu is varied even for a vegetarian and there's always space to sit inside or outside.

This place is awful, like really awful. The service is so slow, it's hard to describe, but I'm gunna try... The only way they could be this slow, is if in order to serve a paella, they had to invite, implement and then use an irrigation system in order to then sow rice seeds and manage a paddy field. I can then only assume there was an apocalyptic drought, which meant they then needed to restart this process leading to them panicking, and subsequently neglecting to provide the rest of their order, whilst their staff wallowed around the watering hole. Overall. I'd say this service was abysmal, but that gives abysmal a bad name. The managers excuse of 'everyone has poor service at the moment' was really the nail in the coffin. You'd be quicker to book, wait for and then travel to Spain during the next summer vacation if you're hungry.

Above and beyond from the staff and the food was phenomenal and will be visiting as soon as we next have a family occasion. Well done everyone at Pinchos

Not a patch on what it use to be now it’s changed hands sadly. You get given a a4 sheet of printer paper to tick what you want to order rather than an actual menu and you can forget about getting a second sheet to order more tapas. It’s far from authentic and we waited an extremely long time for mediocre tapas. I was disappointed by the whole thing.

Arrived at 8pm, seated immediately but didn’t get our food until 9.30pm. There was no Spanish omelette. Asked for aubergine instead. Also unavailable. Calamari didn’t turn up, had to prompt them to bring it out. Albariño wine unavailable. This wasn’t a fun relaxing experience. This place used to be great, I’ve been numerous times but probably won’t go back.

We love this place, we always thought it was a wine so never went in then found out it does tappas. The food is beyond amazing, everything has been perfect both times we have been and defo planning to go again

A nice little spot for tapas and drinks

The food has really gone downhill. Calamari was dreadful, tomato bread and patatas bravas were soggy, everything else was v average. Such a shame, I used to love this place!

Absolutely brilliant. Visited this restaurant twice pre covid and now returned gain. If anthing it was much better than before. The standard and portions of the food and variety of tapas on offer was excellent as was the Argentian Malbec. The staff, especially the owner(?)...

Amazing food. Such different tastes and variety. I was a little dismissive when a colleague suggested this place for our Christmas meal but how wrong could I have been. Highly recommended.

The food tasted great and the waiter serving us was very nice. However, outside seating is not great (wobbly chairs and tables). Also, the portions are small and for the price we were left hungry!

Tapas tiny, calamaris far too thin, prawns weren't fresh and the aubergine dish was like warm and also miniscule. Had to eat again afterwards 😩 Nice staff but terrible value for money.

We arrived at the restaurant to find our booking hadn't been written down. Easy mistake to make, but instead of offering us a free table, we were told to wait outside. The email confirmation was then sent on by the person who made the booking...

Delicious and varied tapas with very efficient and positive service

Very friendly staff, with fresh and delicious food. We phone up requesting a table for 2 in 30 minutes time, Pinchos were very accommodating and we couldn't have left there any more satisfied. Will 100% be returning

Great service, good food at a reasonable price

Went here expecting a nice Spanish style lunch, not a Spaniard in sight. Mate I was with was more Spanish, lives in the canaries. Food was passable but portions small, recommend a drive to café Brazil in Maldon, superb tapa. An update, friend who had the prawns now has an upset stomach.

The food was so delicious and they were so welcoming. Shoutout to Martha (sorry if I spelled it wrong) and all other staff was extremely friendly. Didn’t plan on going to this place but somehow ended up here and now it’s one of my favourite spots in Chelmsford 😁

Lovely little place with a nice atmosphere despite the cold (due to current Covid19 restrictions!) Chicken and fish paella was absolutely delicious and highly recommended.

Enjoyed a mid week dinner at Pinchos. Incredible tapas dishes, so tasty and really good sized portions. Will be back!

Really great birthday meal with family

We ordered a paella and this is spicy rice; The vegetables are a pack of peppers. I'm sure the rest is good but we won't try it anymore. If you are Spanish, ask for something else. F

First time there. Found the staff both friendly and efficient. The menu selection good, and the food great. Would definitely recommend and plan to go back soon.

Stopped for lunchtime tapas and a glass of wine. We chose four tapas dishes but were up sold to six (as a deal). The tapas dishes were meagre in portion size (we’ve had more before), the tiger prawns had no flavour, were missing the garlic...

Lovely staff, Maria the manager served us and was so attentive and kind. Great tapas very authentic. Great outside seating for Alfresco dining.

Great food, friendly atmosphere.

Simple answer. Unfulfilled. Tried due to Groupon voucher which turned out to be false advertising. Very overly priced, food not amazing and simply waste of time. Only positive was staff wasn't rude.

Went for lunch had 6 tapas in the voucher extra garlic bread which was very dry. The tapas was ok had alot better. Had a cheese board which was the worse i ever had maybe just didnt like the cheese but my friend also didnt...

Great restaurant with Marta managing and front of house. Service and food wonderful. You have to try the green lipped mussels and the aubergine dishes as part of a fabulous selection of choices and flavours. Would thoroughly recommend a visit

It was recommended to me by an old friend who lives in Chelmsford... the croquettes were delicious, the patatas bravas and Padrón peppers incredible... I never eat churros but these were delicious! and of course the great attention, we will return for sure.

Love lunching here particularly, the dinners are also very generous in portions and has very nice wine
