One star because I couldn't find a zero rating for the Sevice. Terribly disrespectful staff. It might be a known gem in Oxford but the team couldn't make our dining experience any worse. If I weren't starving I couldve left instantly.

Extremely rude staff. We asked to be seated next to the window just before the moment 5 tables were having a turn over of customers. We were given the table by the door and were told they’re fully booked and that was the only table available and it didn’t matter if we booked it two weeks in advance. The waiters are extremely stressed and you can see it in their service, you are not welcomed.

My Family & I have been huge fans of Pierre Victoire for a good many years now. Here is a Family owned business that sources locally where possible, and they make their own desserts. This review marks my 12th for this establishment, I rate every one a very well deserved 5 stars. Last night was Valentines Day, & co-incidentally my 60th Birthday, what better excuse if one were needed for another visit to our favourite restaurant? One might expect all kinds of issues on such a busy night, but if you know the Team at PV, you'll witness calm excellence whatever the occasion. We were treated to a fantastic evening, attentive & competent service as always, and the most incredible cuisine. A well chosen set menu tonight, executed to perfection by the phenomenal Chef & his Kitchen Team. I have dined many many times here and it's always very good, but tonight was something quite special. Thank you to everyone for a very memorable Birthday. I am looking forward to seeing you all again soon. Rupert. P.S. I've said it in all my previous reviews: You need to book for this always popular restaurant. Only the luckiest will secure a table without a reservation. Don't risk it.

This is a seriously good restaurant, with delicious food, a great atmosphere and attentive serving staff. There was a queue outside even before the restaurant opened at 6pm. You can't book online so need to call after midday to reserve a table. No kidding, within an hour every single table was occupied - and you can soon see why. The food is outstanding, well prepared and delicious. I am not often impressed by restaurants but this one makes the grade. A charming little restaurant down a buzzing side street. We had the Diner prix fixe £34.50 for 3 courses. Sorry to be boring, but we both chose the same dishes (how embarrassing 😂). Anyway, they were great choices, so I can highly recommend the mussels to start, the pan fried sea bass on a leek fondue with crushed tarragon potatoes and cheeseboard to finish. Arrived at 7.00 and swiftly shown to our table. Complimentary bread & butter followed. A waiter took our drinks order and they arrived quickly. We had plenty of time to look at the menu before ordering our starters and mains. Again, they arrived quickly. I had the terrine to start and was wonderful, more than enough. I opted for the Venaison à la Bourguignon - and was stunning. Cooked amazingly, the sauce was rich - so much of it. The dauphinois were perfect also. I asked for some more bread to dip into the sauce!! It was just perfect. Thoroughly reccomend. My partner had the pork and also, was lovely!

Haven’t travelled to Oxford and Pierre Victoire for several years , we always used to enjoy our meals there. Well I’m pleased to say this Restaurant still delivers great food at a reasonable price. The Sunday Lunch Menu was great and for the quality we received ,fabulous value. I had the Salmon and Dill starter with a subtle horseradish cream, my partner the Chicken Liver Pate ( they’ve always had this on the menu) The Roast Pork ( choice of three roasts) and a Special Vegetable Dish was followed by Chocolate Mousse for Dessert. Every dish was beautifully cooked, presented and delicious. I understand the Restaurant is privately owned and you can tell ,as many of the Staff have been there on previous visits. The atmosphere is relaxed and busy, but it all runs like clockwork. My only disappointment is I wish they were all a bit nearer, you’d never get us out of there!

We initially were a little disappointed to be sat upstairs, out of the main dining room (which was full), however we had a much more quieter and intimate dinner. Not bad French country cooking, but overpriced for what it was. Service was brisk but friendly. I had the chicken main which was warm-hot and I suspect reheated or prepared earlier in batches. We had the 2 course set dinner which was £28.50 each for 2 courses (accompaniments to the main courses were extra at £3.50). So for two people including 2 glasses of standard house wine came in around £83 for two including service. At this price point, I personally expect more to be honest. We were tourists and maybe for Oxford this is average. Curiously, most the restaurant seemed filled with much younger twenty-somethings, which seemed surprising to us given the prices; I’m assuming Oxford youth must have a much higher level of disposable income compared to the rest of the country’s youth!

Atmosphere was the best thing about the place, and I'll rate that as average. To be fair, we did not have a booking and were interested because of the reviews. Sadly, our experience was far different. The staff did seat us with a rather abrupt prompt they needed the table back at 2pm. This seemed fine at the time, 1.5 hours for three courses seemed more than adequate. However, we sat for 20 minutes before our order was placed. After we had finished the first course, we sat between 10-15mins with empty plates before a waitress finally noticed and said, "Oh, are you finished?" Avoid the steak, order anything but rare means well done is what you get. The 1cm thick ribeye might be difficult to do anything other than rare anyway. Again after finishing the cardboard steak with more garlic butter than meat, waited 15minutes before the plates were removed. At this point she asked if we wanted dessert. Waited 20 mins for dessert before finally leaving the table and approaching the bar to ask for the check. 52£ for two people. Best thing about it was the French onion soup, chips are from frozen (or taste like it) can't say anything about dessert but wasn't worth the wait

Lowkey French restaurant with amazing food at a very reasonable price. You have the option of doing either the 2- or 3- course prix fixe for dinner, and the portions are quite generous. My family said this was the best meal we have had so far on our trip. They were also able to accommodate our dog at dinner when we called in advance. Thank you!!

This is a wonderful French restaurant. The food was amazing, the staff very attentive, and the price of the experience was surprisingly low. If you want a great French dining experience, you must visit Pierre Victoire.

A highly recommended restaurant in Jericho (Oxford) with good French cuisine. 2 or 3 courses are offered at a fixed price, in some cases surcharges apply (filet or similar). The plates are beautifully presented and, above all, taste excellent. The service is nice and courteous. Absolute recommendation from me.

What a find. One of the very few family run restaurants in Oxford. Fixed price menu with lots of choices. Slightly off the beaten track, but well worth a visit. Booking recommended.
