Pier 1 in Richmond upon Thames

Stopped for lunch before going to the cinema. My first visit and I can recommend it, especially if you are looking for a cooked to order meal. We both had the cod and chips which was delicious. Lovely flaky cod in a light crisp batter and perfectly cooked chips. For the more health conscious there's the choice of fried or grilled fish. All comes with a serving of mushy peas and tartare sauce. Other choices available.

This place was recommended by a friend, unfortunately my experience was not anywhere near as good as she said, long wait for food when it came it was cold and chips looked like been cooked for a while. Won't be going back shame as I was really looking forward to trying it..

Difficult to give a review that does justice to this amazing restaurant. Bright and open venue with welcoming staff. Great menu for what is essentially an up market fish and chip shop. Do not let that term discourage you. Wonderful starters, salads and sides all fresh and top class ingredients but at a really reasonable price. I can’t stress how good this food is. The humble mushy pea will never be the same for me from now on. Bring your friends here with the confidence that you will have a fun filled gastronomical feast. And more importantly, great toilets by the way.

The chippy was recommended to us by the staff at the pub across the road and didn't disappoint one bit. Great portion sizes and tasty fish n chips.

After walking around Richmond Park we saw this Fish & Chip restaurant on way back to Station. Staff very friendly and the nicest fried fish & chips we have had in a long while. Not greasy & nicely presented. If we lived nearer would be our regular.

What a lovely evening - the service was brilliant and the food was delicious. Had cod and chips, chicken, fish cakes , starter prawns, halloumi and squid. Wonderful aircon which gave a respite from the baking heat outside. Will definitely go back soon . Very reasonable - £30 a head which included bottle of wine, cool drinks and deserts ( gelato and creme brûlées )

Great location and we were greeted by the friendly chefs on the way in. The waitresses are very warm and welcoming, service was fast and was complimented by delicious, fresh sea food! Highly recommend the Dover sole and the scallop special paired with the Portuguese white wine. Both waitresses are an asset to your team! Will definitely come again and recommend to friends!

Came here for lunch, restaurant was very quiet but they still took a bit too long to take our order and then the food took ages to come. How long does it take to fry a fish? The fish and chips was pretty poor, akin to an average pub meal fish and chips, expected better from a specialist fish and chips restaurant.

Been here several times, and enjoyed it, but last visit was a disappointment. As usual, staff are friendly and helpful, but the haddock - oh dear - hard, not particularly tasty, and dry. Not good and definitely not good value. I’ll watch future reviews to see if I’ll go back again

A wonderful environment with outstanding food served by such a friendly and attentive staff. A good selection for fried or grilled fish dishes.

I have placed this entry under business as there was no group option. Very much worth a visit.. A coach of 49 attended this venue and had the most delicious lunch (We had pre-booked). The food was tasty, cooked well, and served on china platters. They also cater for those with special requirements. It has a drinks license to sell alcohol and bottled water was placed on the tables. The venue is clean and spacious enough for all of us to sit down comfortably. The toilets are located downstairs. Parking will be a problem as the road is very busy with traffic and has double yellow lines. The coach dropped us off and returned when called. An ideal location if visiting the Poppy Factory about 100 yards away. The staff were attentive and nothing was too much trouble.

Pier 1 fish is always spanking fresh. Their tables are wiped down when customers leave and before new customers are seated. As you go in you are asked to use the hand cleanser machine. The tables are well spaced and the restaurant is airy. You feel safe and well looked after.. The fish and chips are really well cooked. The batter is light. Wines, beers and fruit juices are well chosen.The staff are invariably friendly and good with both old people and children. Go an enjoy a treat. Our favourites are fried plaice and prawn Caesar.

My friend and I called into Pier 1 for a quick bite to eat. I'd head about it twice before through other people and my friend raved about it so thought I would give it a go. Not only was the food excellent, but the team at Pier 1 are delightful! Really on top of things without being pushy. The owner is super charismatic and was lovely to have a laugh with but learn about how he has set up such a successful business! Definitely recommend a visit, I know I'll be going back!

We’ve dined here many times now, first time was for a takeaway during lockdown. As Richmond Hill is simply my favourite place in london, Pier 1 is simply the best. Whether you fancy old fashioned fish and chips, or healthier options of grilled fish, burgers or a pie, come to Pier 1 in the best setting of whole of London. You can have a takeaway picnic by the river and watch the world go by.It is a family friendly restaurant as they really do look after the little ones too.I can’t wait to dine here again

This is the sixth time I have visited Pier 1 with my family and it’s as good as it’s ever been. The fish is fresh, cooked very well and the staff are extremely nice. Good value for money for a London restaurant. If you like fish, this is a great place to visit

Just had an early evening supper here. One of us had cod the other plaice, both were beautifully cooked and delicious as usual. I was impressed to see they are following the Covid guidelines carefully by taking contact details, having hand sanitiser and only bringing cutlery and condiments to the table when needed. I felt very safe whilst enjoying my meal. I can recommend them.

We have waited so long to be able to visit Billy and team at Pier 1. I so missed the best fish and chips in London. We have to walk, tube and train to get there, but it's worth it. It was well the journey- as always. Not only were we at long last able to use public transport again but it was my birthday, best birthday present! Thank you Billy and team.

Take-away on Friday 17th July. Fish (haddock) was well cooked and chips were not soggy (as many places serve...) Mushy peas made for a great meal at home. Would recommend to anyone wanting good fish and chips.

A friend told me about this restaurant and said they did some beautiful fish & chips so I decided to go and try it and I must say I wasn’t disappointed it was one of the best meals I’ve ever eaten out we tried the fish and chips also the tempura prawns and also the Scallops it was so good I went back today for another go and it was equally as good as the first time this is one of the best fish and chip shops I’ve ever been to if not the best .

We've been twice now because the service is so good and the fish is amazing! We had an assortment of whitebait, squid and cod and chips and we couldn't fault a thing. Fish is fresh and beautifully seasoned. The waiter even treated us to a special boozy desert concoction - felt very special! The food also arrived quickly which was great for my kids.

We were here tonight for late quick lunch, two of us 17.05 pm we order. The lady who served us was kind but little knowledge about the menu I showed her the picture of what we a a wanted it and she said is enough for two people,however we managed to order everything to share Bread and butter, whitebite, and Special Bruschette to share mixed seafood. Food came 17:30pm fair enough 25 minutes to wait for and “extraordinary” dish that cost 29.95£.Food arrived and what a disappointment the white bite were dry and tasteless and the sharing seafood plate was so small not even enough for one person, absolutely nothing like in the picture half of the plate was replaced by green salad and the rest was small pieces of salmon no salt and some mixed sea food, we were shocked by the size, I mean are you joking 29.95£ and the taste wasn’t very impressive. We spoke with our waiter and after with person on charge tall guy, we explained everything and all he said was this is it nothing I can do about it. We didn’t want to make big deal, we had a long day we paid the bill we just wanted to get out of there, but how disrespectful is to pay for an empty plate, poor and unprofessional service, they also extra charge for two bread and butter instead of one, they gave us refund for that and we left angry and hungry. What a shame I used to like this place I also know the owner which was very passionate about what he was doing , but this experience was appalling.

Came here for a family celebration of two birthdays . From booking to leaving the restaurant everything went first class . The table was set up really nice . The service was first class all night . The food was cooked to perfection . There were 10 of us and everyone’s food was wow . Definitely recommend a visit to this amazing restaurant .

10 of us dined to celebrate many January birthdays in our family. Those that have been before love it and those that came for the first time said the fish was lovely.

Visiting our son and his family and we all had supper at the this very clean and well presented restaurant. The servers were very tentative to all the customers and professional to a 5 star restaurant standard The food was well cooked and hot, even with their takeaway side was extremely busy. The next time we visit from western Canada we will for sure be paying a visit. Thanks for helping make our stay in Richmond so enjoyable and filling.

We had a late dinner in this restaurant, when it was already empty. It is mainly a fish & seafood restaurant, with a wide variety of options. The fish was fresh and tasty. But the best part of the dinner was the service, the waiter really made an effort to help us choose our dish, everything was super fast and friendly.

Some of us had the traditional fish (cod) and chips with mashed peas and tartar sauce whilst others chose the more 'healthy' option of grilled cod and potatoes. Both were excellent.

I arrived to meet my sister and her husband, I was early but Billy already knew who I was and showed me to our table immediately. The wine they had preordered was already chilling on the table. I couldn't have asked for a kinder, more helpful welcome.

Family of 3 ate here at 5.30, so restaurant was quiet although lucky for us we had just missed a big party of people. Manager/owner was very accommodating and friendly. This is by far the best fish and chips we have ever eaten. Good value and good portions as well. Would highly recommend.
