Piccolo in Dundee City

Amazing Italian food. Better than some of the restaurants I went to in Italy last year. Picollo is exactly that. Small and well crafted. The team of two were so passionate about the restaurant and the menu, and Lewis the chef bowled my Mum and I over with his energy and exquisite cooking. We can't exclude Finlay either, who knows how to pay just the right amount of attention. The seafood is some of the best we've ever had, and the fresh pasta melts. A local business that deserves to flourish!

Popped in last night as walk in got a table and we were not disappointed lovely meal, good atmosphere and good service

I love Piccolo’s. It’s such a lovely restaurant nestled in the heart of the Perth Road. It’s cozy and intimate, with very chilled music in the background, that lets you chat and catch up with friends without drowning out your conversation. The staff, headed by Athol are fantastic without exception. Nothing is any trouble for them. They recently helped friends of ours arranged an intimate birthday get together for me and Athol went the extra mile to make sure we all had the most wonderful time. The food is authentic and wonderful, you just know it’s made with care. I especially love the pate and my husband loves the King Prawn Pepperoncino. There’s not many places around nowadays where you feel food and surroundings are carefully thought out. Lovely environment if you want something a bit special. Thank you team Piccolo

Hadn’t been here for a few years but had a really enjoyable Friday night dinner. Food and service excellent. Nice informal atmosphere and it’s good to hear people chatting away rather than music booming in the background which seems to be the norm in a lot of places.

Happened upon this restaurant last night looking for an early dinner. The waiter was great; he genuinely cared about our experience of the restaurant and the food they served, - which was great. Ideal place if you're looking for high quality Italian dishes in an intimate setting. We thoroughly enjoyed it and will return again.

Was disappointed with this restaurant. My starter of liver pate was very good . However the main course of spinach and ricotta pasta I sent back as the sauce was so dried up it was almost crispy. They just covered it with extra sauce on top which did make it more edible. For the sweet course I chose the crepes which again where not very good. The dining room was full so obviously people are enjoying the food. On the plus side the staff where excellent on what was a very busy night for them. Nothing was too much bother and they where very polite and attentive. The place itself is lovely very clean and the staff as I said where great.

A gorgeous little gem of Perth Road. Have had two date nights here, both absolutely lovely. We were accommodated at short notice after our other dinner plans fell through, and it turned out to be much better than what we'd originally gone for! We had a lovely waiter, fab atmosphere, and the line cooks were absolutely on point that night. Really friendly and intimate, with no sense of being rushed at all, even when the night was drawing on. I highly recommend their wine selection, and their Tiramisu!

It's always a treat to go to Piccolo. As the name suggests it is small but creates an intimate dining experience. The staff are friendly, welcoming and professional. The dishes are fresh, delicious and imaginative. A family favourite with us.

From our first warm welcome, in this cozy Italian restaurant, we knew we were going to have a good evening. The place is small and everything feels authentic, and the food is fresh, cooked from scratch in the kitchen. Not typical pizza & pasta, this is a better sort of Italian style selection, such as Sea Bass Saltimbocca or Lemon Chicken Linguine. Very glad we came here, enjoyed our meal immensely.

So I decided to visit Picollo for my birthday with my son and his girlfriend …. Well haven’t been for a couple of years. I am so pleased we did as the food was delicious, lovely wine and the waiters were lovely… Highly recommend Piccolo…. Well done guys 😀

My wife and I went for an early Valentine's meal, having looked for well thought of Italian restaurants in the local area. We were both delighted by Picccolo. I had the tuscan chicken liver pate to start, my wife went with some garlic bread. The pate itself was good and the toasted ciabatta bread was really good. The garlic bread was pretty standard. For mains my wife went with the chicken carbonara. The chicken was succulent and the sauce really tasty, all round an excellent dish. I went with the steak tagliata, which blew me away. The steak itself was incredibly tasty, one of the best I've ever eaten and went really well with the rest of the dish. For dessert my wife had the cheesecake from the specials board, which was just stunning and I really regret not chosing myself. I had a gelato and sherbet gelato combo that was very nice. The place had a nice ambience and the staff were attentive. The cost is fair for the standard of food you get. All in all a great meal we will both remember for a long time.

Don't get me wrong, the food was very good, not excellent, just very good. I thought this place offered very poor value for money however. 3 courses for £39 would be OK, had 2 of the courses I wanted not incurred additional charges. As for the service, for the first half hour of our meal, we were the only customers in the restaurant so I was surprised that the waiters didn't know who ordered what.

Lovely, intimate restaurant with excellent food

A great place to have a quiet and romantic meal , atmosphere was set perfectly for that as the place was set up beautiful and lit by mostly candles. When I was there with 3 other friends they only had the set dinner options which ranged from £31 for 2 courses and £39 for 3 courses. The menu had quite a variety of starters , mains and desserts to choose from as well. It was certainly one of the pricier set dinners I had in Dundee but the food did not disappoint, ingredients were fresh and the pasta was made to perfection.

My wife and i came down to spend the weekend in Dundee. We booked a table on Saturday 4th June 2000pm. What a really nice cosy restaurant it is. Lovely staff,excellent food and deserts and drinks. Compliments to the chef/s If you want a really nice evening out for a meal,my wife and i would recommend this restaurant.

Such a great place, I have been meaning to visit for years and did not disappoint. Despite not having a booking the staff were really accommodating letting my partner, our newborn in her pram and I sit outside in the nice little outdoor area by the street for something to eat and drink. The atmosphere was brilliant with the music and the smells of the food being cooked and as we were sat beside the kitchen window the chef had a chat with us while we were sitting. The food was amazing, arrived really quickly and was cooked to perfection, and the kitchen had no problem when my girlfriend asked for a mushroom salad after we had eaten our main even tho the restaurant was very busy. I would recommend Piccolo to everybody and we will definitely be back very soon to try other dishes on the menu

Let's say it clearly. What is served in this place bears only a tiny resemblance to italian food. Linguine with caprese? Why have a salad on a pasta? A slab of fish on linguine? You'll never get something like that in an Italian restaurant — the fish should be the dish or it should be integarted into the pasta, not thrown together in one dish. It feels like they are just using italian names and then sending out fake dishes, pulling unrelated things together. On top of that, the overall quality of each part is low relative to the price. What I've remembered is why I don't waste money in italian restaurants in Dundee. I'll happily stick to fish and chips.

Amazing atmosphere, staff and food. The menu isn't too big, some places have such a large menu that you question whether they've cooked half of it. I had the traditional carbonara which was delicious and my partner had a seabass linguine. We loved it so much that we've already picked out what we want to get next time. One thing to note, Google says the restaurant is closed on Sundays, it's not! If unsure just call the place and find out, it's definitely worth your time and money.

My partner and I had a meal in Picolo on 27 February 2022. So glad that we chose this restaurant. The food was absolutely first class. I cannot praise this restaurant highly enough. This is a gem of a restaurant in Dundee. It is a must to visit.

We came back again to enjoy this lovely little restaurant and it's still a real gem. We had a lovely romantic evening here. A lovely selection of authentic delicious dishes and good wine at reasonable prices. The service was very professional and staff charming.

This was our first time here and it won't be the last. We had the 3 course menu and prosecco which cost £100 for 2. The food was beautiful, everything very fresh. The seafood (we had scallops and king prawns) was delicious. Our 3rd was the cheese board, which on first sight looked disappointing. Only soft herby cheese and jam with toasted ciabatta. But it was so tasty I could have eaten it all night! The service we received was spot on and the restaurant is small (as per the name) nicely decorated and has a lovely intimate feel to it. We will definitely be back.

This is a hidden gem! Visited Dundee for a couple of nights so checked out reviews for this place. Really intimate restaurant. Really delicious food and great team. Waiter was really friendly and answered all our questions. Owner/chef came to say hello at the end of service. Scallop risotto was our stand out dish! Highly highly recommend

This was a first visit for us to Piccolo. It will not be our last. Excellent food from equally excellent produce. The background music added to the ambiance and atmosphere.

We visited Dundee for the weekend for my birthday celebration and before travelling we researched Italian restaurants in the City. Based on Piccolos being a local independent business and their excellent looking menu we rang and booked a table. Prior to our visit we were completely aware of the COVID restrictions and the 2 hour time limit. On arrival we were pleased to see that the staff were excellent on the COVID procedures. At 6pm we were shown to our table in a small intimate surroundings but we thought the lighting was rather subdued and we had to use our phone torches to read the menus. The moment we sat down we felt pressurised and rushed to “check in” and order our drinks and food. Upon reading the menu we were disappointed that it was different to the one we read online. We had already decided what we’d like to order from their website menu but once we saw it was different we spent a little longer choosing but we were still constantly asked if we were ready to order. We ordered 2 bottles of wine in order to drink over the couple of hours leisurely over the courses. We ordered our starters and they arrived very quickly. They were both delicious and upon completion our plates were removed and we complimented the chef via the waiter. Almost immediately the waiter brought my wife’s main course which was sea bass wrapped in Prosciutto. Although she enjoyed her food the sea bass still had the skin on which she found difficult to eat as the prosciutto was wrapped around so she had to deconstruct her food before eating it. At other restaurants when we’ve had sea bass we would receive 2 fish fillets but on this occasion there was just the one! My main course arrived a couple of minutes after my wife’s; mine being a fillet of steak, I was never asked how I wanted the steak cooking but it arrived medium to well done when I normally ask it to be medium rare. There was a £7 supplement applied to my meal because it was steak. But the steak I received was 2 small 2” medallions those normally seen on a pub mixed grill! It came served on lumpy mashed potato and the steak was topped with whole green peppercorns. Very strange presentation! The meal should have come with chestnut mushrooms and mine had half of one! I ate the steak but left everything else including the garden leaves (a bit of salad) which was topped with Parmesan cheese which I don’t like but I wasn’t asked if I’d like some. When the waiter came back to remove our plates he asked if everything was ok. I responded by telling him that I was disappointed in the meal as it wasn’t what I was expecting. He then said well apart from that did it taste ok? He didn’t bother asking my wife how her meal was he just removed both plates. Up to this point we had been in the restaurant 45 minutes and we had eaten 2 courses. The waiter asked if we’d like to view the dessert menu and we said we’d like to wait a little while as we felt rushed enough over starter and mains! He arrived back a few minutes later with the dessert menu and left it on the table. We were now feeling so much pressure we drank our wine a lot quicker than we would have liked. Due to the constant barrage of questioning regarding us ordering dessert we decided not to as there was nothing on the menu that appealed to us. We were then constantly reminded that we only had the table until 8pm which we were fully aware of, but even then the waiter brought the bill to our table at 7:45pm obviously wanting us to leave. Our complaints went unheard and we paid the bill and left without a word of apology or complimentary hot drink etc.

My husband and I ate here last night to celebrate our 20th Wedding Anniversary. Food was superb, hubby had a Salmon Cheesecake (special that day) starter just to see what it was and was not disappointed!! I had the Pate which was delicious and obviously home-made.For mains I had the Prawn and Mussell linguine - scrumptious, and by the clean plate that my husband left he obviously enjoyed his Seabass main course!Lovely restaurant with great staff who bent over backwards to make our night x

We love Italian food and have lived and worked in Italy. Usually, we get quite disappointed when we try an Italian restaurant in the UK. We won a voucher for a meal at Piccolo so we had nothing to lose. So glad that we went! The food was amazing! Every course brought delight with brilliant, well combined flavours. My favourite sauce has always been carbonara but I have never tasted one as good as this. It was perfectly suited to the tender meat and pasta that it was blended with. Service was good, friendly and enthusiastic. We'll be back, again and again.

I've been here around 8/10 times the food is absolutely fantastic, it's a very relaxing atmosphere, they do a 2 or a 3 course deal, ovoisly we opted for the 3 course, u will not be disappointed, I'm sure the owner is also the chef, he is a really nice guy & a fantastic chef! Myself and my wife cannot wait to go back. The service is also vg, By far the best Italian restaurant in Dundee.

Traditional tratt. Does what it says. Worth a visit if your in town and you want Italian The owner used to work for George Irving, the less than athletic goalkeeper for the Butchers v Ministers. Will mean nothing to virtually anyone that reads this.

El restaurante había instalado una pequeña glorieta afuera con un calentador y lo ofrecía como una alternativa a sentarse adentro. Como la comida era para una celebración, decidimos comer en la glorieta, lo que significaba que podíamos tomar una botella de gas con nuestra comida. La comida era de primera clase y el personal no podría haber sido más atento. Definitivamente los visitaremos otra vez.

Pero nunca se me pasó por la cabeza reservar una mesa allí, no es un lugar del que se escuche hablar a mucha gente, y está escondido en la planta baja, casi inclinándose en reverencia a sus vecinos más destacados. No dejes que nada de eso te engañe, este lugar es una joya escondida y la comida aquí derriba algunos de los establecimientos más famosos de Perth Road. Desde el momento en que entramos por la puerta, nuestro amable camarero Lewis nos vio atentamente, cuyo profesionalismo oculta su juventud. Antes de la pandemia de coronavirus, mi pareja y yo éramos visitantes bastante regulares en Italia, por lo que tenemos estándares bastante altos cuando se trata de comida italiana. Pero Piccolo superó estos estándares con mucho de sobra. El salmón estaba fresco y lleno de sabor, y también apreciamos el uso de ingredientes más delicados como la espinaca. Y una palabra sobre el café. No siempre es fácil encontrar un buen café italiano fuera de Italia, pero el café de Piccolo era fuerte y robusto y es lo más parecido que he probado al auténtico en el Reino Unido. Este lugar también disfruta de un ambiente acogedor y con poca luz, ideal para una velada romántica. Definitivamente volveremos y esperamos trabajar en el menú de Piccolo durante los próximos meses. Es un pequeño restaurante poco conocido y no tengo ni idea de por qué.

Es, de lejos, el mejor restaurante de Dundee y hemos probado mucho. Adelante, pruébalo, sabes que quieres. No olvide reservar ya que es un pequeño restaurante íntimo.

Mi esposa y yo estábamos en un viaje de golf a Dundee y comimos en este restaurante la semana pasada. Se están tomando muy en serio a Covid 19, lo cual es bueno. La comida y el ambiente del restaurante eran excelentes. Mi esposa tenía el cerdo y yo tenía las albóndigas Cnocchi.comida para morirse, de buena calidad y buenas porciones sin ser apiladas y baratas.El restaurante ofrece un menú de uno, dos o tres platos que ofrecen una amplia variedad de opciones.Recomiendo encarecidamente este restaurante y sin duda volvería a visitar la próxima vez que estemos en Dundee.

Era simplemente delicioso, cada plato estaba delicioso. El encantador chef / propietario realmente entiende el equilibrio de los ingredientes y los condimentos y no puede elogiar sus platos lo suficiente.Me encantaría volver en nuestra próxima visita.

Had an anniversary/birthday treat last evening at Piccolo. Excellent customer service and good social distance measures in place (other measures including screens separating tables but not imposing). Food fantastic and service impeccable. Would highly recommend.
