Phoenix in Isle of Anglesey

We used to really love this place, but I have had to delete my previous review in order to now write something I feel is more accurate. Their food is tasteless. They have changed how they do spring rolls, egg fried rice, heck, even the gravy now tastes horrific. I dare not order regular food here now, as I really do enjoy flavour - and I don't relish cardboard chicken in oil flavour black pepper sauce.

Food was great (set meal for 2 and noodles) but was over charged by nearly £10. We were told that was the price on the old menu , 3 Google search and every time came back with the same menu we had first seen. Very convenient excuse !!! if you ignore the fact you are legally required to ensure correct price’s are represented online or otherwise I would suggest they spend some time checking their misrepresentations

I normally go to the Mandarin Garden further up the road but on Mondays, it's closed. The Kung Po Chicken was tasteless with cubed vegetables, the slimy slices of chicken were awful. The chips were decent because it's also a chippy. The prawn toast was horribly greasy and clearly not fresh. In comparison to my usual, this was a horrible alternative. The chippy side seems ok, but go elsewhere for Chinese takeaway.

Purchased Chicken Sweet and Sour...what a disappointment 😔...Chicken like Dental Floss, all veg raw, rice of unknown origin, not a whole grain to be seen, sauce, very little and unidentifiable as S&S sauce.......what little of this "food" I ate has rendered me housebound today... Definitely one to be avoided...🫣👎.

Excellent....stumbled on this whilst holidaying in the area. Freshly cooked fish whilst you wait & very very large portions at a cheap price. £7.50 for fish & chips which if we'd known one portion would have easily fed both of us

Lovely food always hot good choices and it tastes AMAZING. You need to try the salt and pepper chicken it’s delicious 10/10 would recommend

Read the reviews & decided to try what a mistake that was. I seriously cannot understand the good reviews for the Chinese food. Extremely cheap reformed chicken being used that is so pumped full of water that it can't absorb any flavour but in fact waters down any flavour added the only saving grace we're the chilli ribs . I've worked in the food industry for near 30 years so I know what I'm talking about. This place is in my top 10 worse Chinese take aways & may be in the top 3. If you think the food is good & tasty I hate to think of what your used to. Ordered Chicken & mushrooms, yeung chow rice, satay chicken, sweet & sour Hong Kong chicken, egg fried rice & chilli ribs.

Mmmmm 😍🤤 THE BEST Chinese in Llangefni, salt and pepper chips are to die for! Order a lot of different dishes from here over the years and couldn't fault a single one all lovely definitely my go to Chinese!

We have had food from the Phoenix for many years and the standard up until last night has always been excellent. But on this occasion the standard wasn’t just poor it was awful. Singapore vermicelli just slush. One prawn cubed ham My Yong chow fried rice, no prawns, no bbq pork cubed ham and sweet corn. Just dreadful Mixed started ok Maybe a day off but ???

You get a load of chips here. Always nice. They do chinese food and chippy food. The fish is amazingly massive.

Can't falt the chips and sausage and sweet and sour chicken with rice I had. But removed one star because in this day and age when most of us do not carry cash, to find that they didn't take card payments was disappointing, luckily I just had enough to cover or would have had to go hungry. Can't see me going on when passing again don't want to have to stop in cash machine before eating.

Best on Anglesey. Generous and reasonably priced.

This is a must on your take away list.. You order fresh and it's usually ten minutes... Nice and hot.. I've been going there since it opened. I've added another golden star to the review

Rice was so old it took effort to move it around the plate, O.K sauce tastes more like sweet and sour, bbq sauce isn't proper bbq sauce! And the "prawn" toast didnt have any prawn in it! Won't be going here again!

Visited this takeaway eventually 3 times on our summer break. The food was very tast, freshly cooked and friendly staff. From a few decades of eating around Britain, this is certainly a very good Chinese takeaway. Curry sauce was excellent!

Usually have reasonable take away from Phoenix but this evening’s was awful- no prawns at all in prawn toast, chicken in sweet and sour chicken was awful as if reheated, no beef in spicy beef just batter. Will give them a wide berth for a while

Partner had special chow mein and chips, which he enjoyed, and good sized portion of chips despite asking for small. I on the other hand had a terrible sweet and sour chicken (cantonese style) which was extremely vinegary and the sauce was thinner than water. The chicken was also suspect as it had no ‘bite’ to it and was like biting into chewy glue. The fried rice was fine, but I won’t be rushing back!

It's hard to find a decent Chinese takeaway on Anglesey, so I'd probably say this is the best of what's around. They can be a bit inconsistent, and the food at times can taste a bit gloopy and lack freshness, but I do think they're decent and most of the time the food is very good, far better than the others around. The prices can be a bit high, but they do give generous portions, so I'd say it's probably fair. It's a shame they don't do delivery, that's my biggest complaint of all, and that they only take cash. If they added delivery and option to pay by card, then I'd order from them a lot more.

Food is hot and tasty. Reasonably priced. Staff are polite and efficient. Will be going back very soon.

Been here many times good usually but when busy they water the sauces down Chips can be cold again time dependant Chinese food good Great lunchtime offers

Had read a number of really positive reviews so we were looking forward to our first Chinese takeaway on Anglesey. Service in the shop was very efficient and friendly with good Covid control measures in place for people collecting in-store. When we sat down to our meal, we were just very underwhelmed and it's the first time in our history that we threw away most of the meal with no attempt to complete it. Very disappointed, sorry guys

visited here when staying in nearby village of Penmynydd. the order was taken wellover the phone and was ready upon arrival. sweet and sour chicken balls are a must!! dont hesitate to order from here when you are in the area.

They don't deliver & only take cash, which is a shame, but we ordered anyway. Our order was ready when I arrived, the staff were courteous & the food was just gorgeous. Honestly , the nicest takeaway on the island. We've been coming here for years, and I can't fault a thing. The food is absolutely delicious, highly recommend special starter box, you get loads in there, absolute bargain! Salt and pepper chips are devine, the chow mein beats any other Chinese I've ever tried, and the price is reasonable too

Not allowed to go elsewhere when going for a takeaway with good reason. Good food, plenty of it and generally ready when we arrive. Very friendly staff, always helpful when you phone the order in. Pretty well organised place serves lots of varietes of food.

The food is excellent and cost is very reasonable. They don't take card but most takeaways don't. I usually forget this but they always let me place an order and by the time I've been to a cash machine my food is generally ready.

Had a takeaway from here and it was quite simply disgusting. Greasy, poorly cooked, tasteless, never again.They had the cheek to charge me full price and have three, missing items on the order was not complete after traveling an 18 mile round trip.I phoned them up they tried to say it was my fault when I already shown the written order on paper? Wont go again People avoid this place like the plague... DONT WASTE YOUR TIME & MONEY

On holiday in the area and fancied a take away. Located in Llangefni town, we found this place. Parking opposite, we placed our order then waited 20 mins for it to cook (We nipped to another shop whilst waiting). Staff very friendly, extensive menu, which is reasonably priced, and lovely food. We all enjoyed it and would highly recommend.

On holiday in the area and fancied Chinese after a day out hiking, am i pleased i chose the Pheonix, good food, great portion size at a reasonable price, highly recommended.

Today I visited probably one of the best Chinese TakeAways on the Isle of Anglesey. :) For £7 I had a very generous and well cooked and well presented, 'Lemon Honey Chicken & Egg Fried Rice!' :) This firm favourite of mine from The Phoenix, never fails to disappoint, and even though the rest of the Menu looked very tempting, I seem to always stick with this particular dish, as introduced to me by an old friend! :) I would highly recommend this dish and the rest of The Phoenix Menu today! Enjoy! :)

Very disappointed with the fish and chips. The fish was old ,discolored and very dry. We couldn't eat it. Chips,soggy although,plentiful. Will not be returning.

It's 4 years since we came here, but food is very good still. Coped well with an order for 12 of us. Competitive prices and very good food. Not greasy, just tasty!

Fancied a take away, gave phoenix a go. Highlt reccomend the crispy pork and beef in sweet and sour sauce. Or the special fried rice. Both me and other half enjoyed it and decent prices too. Polite service.

Whilst on holiday with no menu the Phoenix were very helpful over the telephone when we placed an order and the food was delicious. Make sure you'r very hungry when you order as the meals are huge!

Good Chinese food..fish and chips average

Always had good food from here, friendly staff and quick service. The only bad point here is that you can only pay by cash, but it's not a huge problem as there are plenty of cashpoints around llangefni.

Vamos aquí durante años y nunca he tenido una mala para llevar desde aquí todavía. El personal está siempre ocupado, pero siempre atento y la comida buena. Y no importa si cambiar un par de platos en los menús. En cuanto al precio, muy razonable, en cuanto a la porción de una comida para 2 dura a mí y a mi novio 2 días! ! Yo lo haré encantado continuar utilizando esta comida para llevar para los años venideros.
