Pho in Cambridge

The staff here treated me appallingly. I visited Pho on Thursday 16 November at around 7.30pm. When I arrived, we were shown to a table that was right under a loud speaker blaring out music. Due to being partly deaf and wearing hearing aids, I asked the staff member to turn down the music. I also pointed directly at my hearing aids, to indicate that I was partly deaf. She immediately refused, saying that she wasn’t allowed to. She didn’t offer to get a manager who presumably would’ve been able to help. Instead she moved us to another table where the music was just as loud. As a result, I struggled to hear what was being said by the people with me due to the waitress’s refusal to turn down the music. There was absolutely no sense of empathy, and her general demeanour throughout the night felt bad, including leaving customers stood at the open door in the cold, and generally coming across as unfriendly. Although the food was ok, I’m shocked that in the 21st century restaurants still think that treating people with disabilities with contempt is acceptable, no less in such a liberal place. I don’t recommend this place at all and I’ve never experienced anything like it in my life.

This was the yummiest meal we had in Cambridge - starters, mains and several cocktails. Every bite was so flavorful! It also has a really cool vibe. It was also very inexpensive for the quality and quantity of food.

Not a cuisine I’m familiar with but food was nice! I swapped the flat rice noodles for vermicelli in the Classic Chicken Pho and it was delicious. A really large portion too!

The staff seem to be trained for one objective: free the tables as quick as they can, hence the loud music, which make the place already stuffy and greasy even more uncomfortable. When I asked a senior staff member why? His answer was: "because we like it". Unbelievably rude. The food is not great and not warm enough. All in all a bleak experience and a feeling of being ripped off. PS the drinks are ridiculously overpriced.

Went here as a couple. The pho was a bit bland for the price and in comparison to other noodles such as ramen but was still good overall, the herbs that come along side are a fun addition to make the pho to your own taste. The beef "steak" was a bit too well done for my liking and could have been a bit more pink. We also tried the Ca Phe cocktail, which was basically a nicer version of an espresso martini, which is definitely worth a try! Some of the profits from specific menu items is donated to LGBTQ+ and Vietnamese childrens charities, which is good! Overall, we enjoyed the experience, but the pho could be more flavourful, and the beef slightly less well done, but thoughtfully enjoyed it overall.

Stumbled across this restaurant on a day trip to Cambridge. Great tasty food, great atmosphere. We sat on the stools by the window which made it feel a little more like an authentic street food experience! Lovely waiter called Archie. Perfect dinner night out.

I went there twice in this week and soon find it tasty. But I have to say waiter there is quite impatient. First time it was all fine but second time I was treated as I have to leave ASAP so they can have an empty table though there are lot of empty tables. I don’t know why but apparently this attitude makes me want my service fee back and this option is not available on the card machine.

Set in a super building with great atmosphere. The starters and mains were all fabulous, while the servers were vet friendly and efficient. Most excellent!

Visited for the first time and every aspect was disappointing. It was busy and we were given the table right next to the door. I indicated an empty table a bit further in and asked if we could sit there, the waitress tutted at me and rather angrily wiped the table so we could sit there. The music was far too loud and we had to raise our voices significantly to have a conversation. The walkway between the tables was too narrow and my arm was bashed several times by various food delivery people going by, I felt crowded in. Then the food, it was overpriced and incredibly bland. Won't be going there again. No criticism of the staff.

I thought it was a good place to eat, but unfortunately it was not. Yesterday we went and the food was very bad, It was the worst soup I've ever tasted, I didn't finish eating it because it didn't have any kind of flavor. My husband's noodles had water!!! Also, I asked for extra ginger and they didn't bring it to me. The only thing that was good was the drink (Coca Cola) to be honest. I can't recommend you guys, sorry.

Great food. Basic but tasty. Please drop the sneaky 12.5%. You add to the bill as an optional service. No warning of this on the menu and not aware until presented with bill. Not fair to put your customers in the uncomfortable position of asking for it to be removed. Why not pay your staff a decent wage and make any tips down to discretion of the customer?

I cannot recommend this restaurant enough, the food was absolutely gorgeous, everything was delicious and large portions! The chicken was easily some of the best I've ever had, just falls apart in your mouth, peanut sauce with spring rolls was beautiful, perfect amount of sweetness. The food has potential, all the Vietnamese flavours you expect are there but sadly dialled down to almost bland. Maybe this is to appeal to most people. They are obviously short staffed so expect long wait and Luke warm food.

My first vietnamese experience, picked for my friends birthday as she is Vegetarian/Vegan. Menu has some nice varities to suit all tastebuds and some great non alcoholic juices. The food came out really quickly, was hot and presented well. It was very tasty, good portions without feeling the bloat afterwards. Would happily return as a nice treat in the future!!

La comida vietnamita era nueva para nosotros y definitivamente diferente.La sopa Pho tiene fideos planos y tu elección de carne. Fui picante con pechuga. Lo disfruté, pero estaba un poco aburrido a mitad de camino, ya que solo eran fideos, carne y caldo. Todo muy sabroso, pero me gustaría un poco más de verduras.Mi marido tenía 3 tazón de arroz con carne y esta fue una opción mucho mejor. Pollo picante, bistec chamuscado y unos adorables pinchos de carne envueltos en una hoja (tenían un nombre que no recuerdo). Recomendaría conseguir estos como entrante. El plato de arroz tenía muchas verduras diferentes: hoja china, pepino, rábano, zanahoria y cebolla. Era muy sabroso.Servicio super rápido y amigable.

I took my son to Cambridge to see sights including King`s Chapel and Language Centre and Museum of Archeology and Anthropology but all closed due to pandemic,so we ate national Vietnamese cusine pho soup variant that tasted delicious and is recommended. There is a fine courteous staff team led by Rick and service is normally brisk I am told.Vietnamese chop sticks provided but not mandated.We shall be returning when the Cambridge Tourist Office re-opens and when all visitors can find their personal tour information.

I had the pho soup and nothing has changed since lockdown. Service is extremely good and very consistent. Very covid safe and comfortable.

Highly rate this place. Amazing food and worth every penny. This place even offers low carb versions of theor food and if your are watching what you eat or following a keto/low carb diet, then this is the place to eat.

Our second visit here, OMG... I can’t rate it highly enough. Atmosphere lovely and vibrant, staff attentive and service was brilliant even though the restaurant was full. Then there’s the food... it is so fresh, so tasty, and the flavours are simply incredible. It’s got to be tried to be believed

We love Asian food so we’re pretty disappointed after reading the good reviews of this place. The atmosphere was nice and staff were friendly and proficient but the food was seriously underwhelming. We had the veg spring rolls with peanut sauce and they were crispy but no spice or kick, the sauce also needed some heat or citrus because it was just a bit of a diluted peanut butter. I had a chicken classic soup and it was big but with very little shredded chicken. My partners noodle dish had only 4 small pieces of beef in and he described it as bland. We were still hungry so tried the waffle desert and the sorbet was nice but waffle was hard and rubbery. A shame, with one large beer the total bill was £50 which seemed steep and we nearly didn’t notice they had already included 12.5% service charge.

Había un gran grupo de nosotros, pero a pesar de esto, nuestros entrantes y platos principales ordenados por adelantado salieron al mismo tiempo. ¡La comida estaba increible! Todo estaba muy fresco y había mucho para todos. El único inconveniente fue la larga espera para el postre, pero no obstaculizó la experiencia en general. ¡Me encantaría volver otra vez y probar algunos platos diferentes!

The staff is very friendly and the food is delicious! Try the baby squid appetiser - you will love it, especially with the sauce that comes with it! The mains we had were great, together with the spicy lemonade. There is also a very interesting choice of salads which I hope to try in the future. Veeery satisfied!

The first disappointment is that there are no Vietnamese involved either in the kitchen or front of house. Having said that both reception and serving staff were very good, friendly although not entirely familiar with the food or sauces to go with it. On the night that we visited they really were pan european on the front and I believe chinese in the important bit.
