Petit Pois Restaurant in Brighton and Hove

We just loved this restaurant. If you’re a foodie do not miss out on this little gem. It’s a real little bit of France in the centre of Brighton. Every mouthful was a delight. I had goats cheese croquettes to start followed by the most amazing bouillabaisse and my husband and brother had the skate wing. My sister in law who is a veggie said her gratin of leek dish was one of the best veggie dishes she had eaten in ages. Pudding of tart Tatin and cheeseboard finished the evening. Just perfect in every way! 10 out of 10

Delicious moules and excellent value as part of the set lunch time menu. The wine list is superb. Busy with a great atmosphere and good service, and seemingly fully booked on a Friday lunchtime.

Highly recommended. We ate pre-theatre as it’s only 5 minutes from the Theatre Royal. We got so engrossed we lost track of time and only left a few minutes to reach the theatre. Just as well they’re not as strict as London! PS there’s a lovely pub right opposite with great atmosphere and real ales.

Booked a table last Sunday 12th November 3 of us had the Sunday Roast Beef The Beef was tender and cooked to perfection. The accompanying veg were very disappointing the Roast potato’s were like rocks and the other veg was non descriptive awful. I did comment to the waiter who collected our plates but i am not sure the complaint reached the chef. Sorry a simple mistake like this can ruin an otherwise pleasant experience. Elizabeth

Six of us yesterday, some had starters of goats cheese croquettes, salt cod, chicory, Roquefort and candied walnuts, then four roast pork, one bouillabaisse and a beetroot wellington. Desserts were tarte tatin, mixed crème brûlée with madeleines and mixed sorbet. It was all snaffled down happily, all was delicious. The roast pork had great crackling, sumptuously melting meat, lovely greens, flavoursome spuds although could have been crispier, and a nice assortment of greens, carrot, parsnip and baby turnip plus a fluffy yorkie and gorgeous gravy. Great service by smiley waitresses, fab afternoon.

We had a first class lunch at this cosy restaurant in the Lanes today. Service was attentive and cheerful. The fried squid starter was tender and delicious. My bouillabaisse was intensely flavoured with a hint of tarragon and a generous selection of chargrilled seafood. Looking around, we felt we could have enjoyed any of the meals served to the other tables. I really hope we’ll be back in Brighton soon - this was a real treat.

We had an amazing meal here last night. Staff were friendly and helpful and all three courses were excellent. The apple tarte tatin was particularly amazing and my husband and I agreed it was one of the best desserts we’ve ever had.

Whenever we visit Brighton we always book Petit Pois and have never been disappointed, up until this weekend. Sadly we had to wait over an hour before our food turned up and the olives we ordered were completely forgotten! My husband always raves about the Boullabaise and orders it every time, but on this occasion he was very disappointed by the portion size, taste and missing ingredient in the dish. Not sure if anything has changed at the restaurant, but it definitely wasn't the usual enjoyable experience.

Excellent, unpretentious French restaurant with a great selection of traditional dishes, gently tweaked and updated. The prix-fixé lunch menu is always excellent value and the à la carte changes with the season. Plenty of good non-meat options, veg beautifully cooked. Staff are friendly and very efficient. Very decent selection of wines. You'll definitely need to book at weekends. A great option.

6 of us ate at Petit Pois following my wife's graduation. The food was excellent with lots of choice, including for the vegetarian member of our family. We all agreed it was the best restaurant meal we had eaten for a long time, irrespective of price, a view endorsed by our 3* Michelin patissiere son! Congratulations Petis Pois on a job well done!!

Gorgeous little French restaurant, lovely atmosphere, amazing service & the food was just the best, can thoroughly recommend this little gem in the middle of Brighton.

We walked up and down the street looking for an earring venue. We looked at the menu and walked away. We then went back and went in. It’s a unique restaurant with friendly professional staff. We shared the croquettes which were homemade and delicious We then enjoyed a bowl of Bouillabaisse each. By far it is the best we have enjoyed. Lots of fish and seafood in the dish. We really enjoyed our meal and have told anyone heading to Brighton how good it is

I have been dining at Petit Pois for a number of years and in my view it’s the best restaurant in Brighton. Slightly disappointed for the first time though, we were probably half way through a bottle of Merlot which was not particularly good, we asked the waitress to check it and her repossessed was, well it’s a Merlot. We couldn’t drink it, ordered a different wine, but were charged for both. Wines and waiting staff not as good as they were.

We visit Brighton once a year and have wanted to visit this restaurant but it has always been fully booked until yesterday! It was well worth the wait, the food was excellent and service was attentive and friendly. Highly recommend the pork and the assiete sharing board, you get to choose 3 meats and 3 cheeses from a long list, the waitress helped with her recommendations and they were great choices. Will definitely be back next year but will make sure we book in advance.
