Pete's Chippy in Cheshire East

This is an excellent chippy in the middle of Macclesfield - with perfectly cooked fish and really nice chips. The staff obviously enjoy their work as they are always pleasant to everyone.

It's a really good chippy in Macclesfield. Everything is cooked fresh with a spacious diner, always busy too.

Had two small fish and chips. Good hot fish and tasty chips.

First time going to this chippy. I'm not sure if I caught them on a weird day, but it was absolutely disgusting. 'Large chips and gravy' - portion in the box was half full with hardly any gravy, shocking. Regular chips and gravy with a large sausage had more chips and gravy than the large. To top it all off, half of the chips between the 2 portions were undercooked and some being completely raw. £9.70 in total, shocking prices, shocking food. Will never be going again.

I had the home made chicken curry with chips my daughter had nuggets and chips and curry beautiful all of it

Great fish and chips fresh to order...

I would recommend eating in. Eating out is good too fish is fried to order and the batter tastes good but can be on the greasy side. Last night my father tried a rag pudding, that looked and tasted 1st class. The chips are fried almost to perfection and they serve their food in a friendly and professional way.

Last few times being here I've had people push infront of me without concern of staff! Go there for half the stuff to not be available after patiently waiting...a fish n chips shop to not have fish ?!

Very friendly staff quick service and clean environment well cooked food and a nice cup of tea. Good value for money. Would recommend.

Really nice chips we shared between two which was plenty from a regular portion for us fish and batter beautiful my friend said how nice it was compared to last chippy tea we had from another place. Will definitely be back.

Always a great example of the Great British staple.. good old fish and chips.. mushy peas are great as well, as are the sausages and puddings. Gravy and curry sauces are delectable… always friendly service.. one of the best.

Great chippy, lovely cod but wish you could have a small portion of chips, regular is too many.

We were staying at a hotel close by and thought lets find a chippy. Came across Pete's chippy by chance. We parked in the car park next door, had a wander round Macclesfield, then called in the chippy. We ordered large chips and cod. Well the chips were amazing. beautifully cooked. The cod was also fantastic, beautiful fish and the batter really perfectly cooked. Well priced, great staff. We are going to the Hotel again soon and will be calling in for fish and chips at Pete's chippy !

Fabulous sit down meal. No nonsense - Great price and really tasty food. I would highly recommend going for the peas with haddock/cod and chips they are excellent.

Absolutely worst fish and chips I've ever had fish was wafer thin, batter very very greasy fish had a bizarre smell chips extremely dry and lots of small burnt bits. Didn't look fresh at all wouldn't of been better catching my own fish

Unfortunately worst fish n chips oh so bad all round. Over heard two old ladys saying worsed chippy ever . Used to be a good place tho

Pete's Chippy has always been my favourite fish and chip shop. From the aquarium in the entrance, to the great portions, the light and crispy fish, and some of the best chippie chicken nuggets you'll find - it has a lot going for it. You can get take away but they also have a seating area with table service at the back, and they offer smaller portions (as well as the standard big ones) for those with smaller appetites - my Nana loves it there. The staff are lovely, the place is always super clean and the food freshly fried. Enjoy it every time we go!

Love this chippy. Definitely the best of any fish and chips anywhere I’ve ever been (including Arighi Bianchi and the Ivy) The fish are cooked fresh for you as you enter the chippy. The woman behind the counter is extremely hard working and pleasant. It’s very professionally run. I am not interested in chatting (no offence, it’s just nice to take a minute for yourself after a hectic day) and you don’t get that here, you order your chips wait a short time and off you go. The man (who might be Pete’s son ?) is as quiet and hard working as his Father. I travel quite far but when I get them home and give them a quick blast in the oven, they are beautiful, fresh tasting crispy and non greasy. I hate it when I drive there and they are closed..

Driven up from Conwy for a course and found this gem of a chippie. Great service, the best fish,EVER. Shame they can't deliver to Conwy, north Wales.

Was in Macclesfield recently and picked up some chippy from here Was smashing and very filling.

Not been to petes chippy for years , . But called after work tonight sat 7th , it was amazing . Best fish chips mushy peas and curry sauce , my husband and I have had in a very long time .thx

I come to Macclesfield every 3 weeks to look after my grandchild, I have fish and chips from Pets's they are amazing I love them , nice treat for me , I 160 miles from oxford , better than any chip shop in Oxford , THANKS PETE

My family really like this Chip shop, as they offer Gluten-free chips, as they are cooked seperately from all the batter- covered options. Staff are welcoming & friendly!

Charged for sausage but never got it once we were home and then the peas were cold and hard, not mushy as there meant to be.

We visited Pete’s chippy on a Wednesday afternoon, with the intention of getting a takeaway as the shop would be closing in 30 minutes. However, we were asked if we would like to eat in, which was lovely. We ordered 3 fish & chips with curry sauce, which were delicious and excellent value. Pete’s is a fabulous chippy, with a warm, friendly welcoming team. Highly recommend a visit.

been living in macclesfield just over 20 years. I've tried them all over the years. put pete's best one my miles.

Disappointed by the very unfriendly service by the female assistant. She sneered when we asked to sit in. She never smiled once and when I asked for ketchup she rolled her eyes. I’m pretty sure you can’t prevent Covid 19 by not smiling. Probs won’t visit again. Very unpleasant!

Traditional beautifully cooked fish (paper thin batter) and crisp chips with tasty soft middle - looking for4ward to going back for their superb food - an added bonus is the option of a Greek salad for those weight conscious customers

Fish cooked to order, fresh and tasty. Everything cooked to perfection.

Had to queue outside in the rain due to Covid-19 restrictions but I can't blame the Chippy for that. Otherwise excellent service and reasonable price.

The peas were good, otherwise average says it all. Possibly because it had only just opened (16:30). Sorry but not recommended.

We had a sit in chippy tea as a rare treat. Nice piece of fish in a crispy batter, chips and mushy peas were good. I had small portion which was plenty but was also had a very tasty and tender calamari with garlic mayonnaise to share. Would definitely recommend

I am able to limit my review of Pete's Chippy to four words:- THE BEST IN TOWN. On second thoughts I shall amend that. My sit in meal was much more than food on a plate. It was an experience! Norman Dean

Top Cat and Fido visited Pete's Chippy Monday night as Blood Sugar a bit low - so required some Carbohydrates and water for my canine friend. Changed from the old days, however the Macclesfield good citizenship still exists. Obviously since hygiene is of the utmost concern, Fido had to stay outside. However the lovely lady brought our food to the door, even providing a polystyrene meal dish for Fido to quench his thirst for the trek through South Park and Linear Park. As a Cook, although we could not enter, the hygiene was of the utmost quality. The old Macclesfield decency was a 100%, and the food delicious! Obviously Pete has Michelin tyres on his car, as the standard was Michelin for Fish & Chips, at a low cost; however high in quality, and cleanliness. I would say support Pete and his staff; as You will have a long way to travel for Fish & Chips in Europe, and at least Pete is local, produces high quality cuisine, with top staff, with Macclesfield values! I.e. a winning combination, that can't be beat. 100% 5*
