Great service and really good coffee! full English was good and a great size for the price. the homemade quiche and scotch eggs looked really good also. Only slight complaint was the full English was a tad to oily especially how the mushrooms were cooked but apart from that all good!

For lunch : delicious sandwiches tosted and spinach/mushrooms quiche! Welcoming, we enjoy our lunch, thanks!

Popped in this café twice as it was a safe haven for 2 nutters who decided to camp in Llandovery in late March. The full/light English breakfast they served was fantastic (It was very much needed...) as well as being a great value for money. The staff they have are incredibly friendly and service is efficient. You will not be let down if you come here!

I had a really lovely vegan breakfast here. The staff are really helpful and cheerful.

After a cold walk we were looking forsomewhere to warm up and regain our lost calories from our freezing walk. Came across this one. Looked busy inside so thought it must be good. It was. Small lunch menu usual things, jacket pots, sandwiches, toasties, all day breakfasts, triple cooked chips and various sides, cawl and soups, and some other lovely sounding lunches. Went for an all day breakfast, and ham eggs and said triple cooked chips. Yum it was just what was needed. Very filling, not at all greasy and a big pile on our plates. Hot chocolate was lovely too, best I've tasted. £11 each plus about £3 for hot chocolate, not cheap but they have to make a living. Would highly recommend. Just wish I'd had some change for a tip.

Stopped here for lunch on the way to Tenby. We were so impressed we stopped again on the way back. Food and coffee were excellent. Stopped as a group of 8. Service was top notch.

Pleasant cheerful and helpful staff, even though it was close to closing time on a Sunday. Cakes were good and even did us a ‘take out’.

Best bacon and egg sandwich on brown in the west, definitely worth a visit if you are looking for sustenance. Coffee is excellent too 👍

Fabulous breakfast and coffee. Breakfast available all day in fact. Great brunch for us. Light and full versions, both with great 'farming' cuts (no nonsense) of bacon, sausages, beans, eggs, hash browns, mushrooms and toast. Great fair trade coffee too. Will come back any time passing through Llandovery

Excellent quality coffee made by a proper barista. Great customer service from obviously well trained staff. We always stop here when passing through Llandovery.

Here we go, what a find , on a road trip early morning breakfast required, cafe was buzzing, good start, super efficient staff sat down, hot drinks ordered, full English ordered, lightning quick service, food excellent, sensible prices excellent portions, don't miss it when in town, we'll be back.

Food was hot fresh and the portions substantial. Sausages,eggs, chips, beans and bread and butter far more than I could eat. BLT with side salad and beautifully decorated and delicious Latte. Sadly road through Llandovery is very busy and as we had young dog outside was best option so fairly noisy and fumey. Coffee cake we took away was pleasant but not exceptional this is one of two cafés we enjoy in the area the other being in Llandeilo. We will call again at both on our next regular visit.

Great find! As a large group of motorcyclists finding somewhere to stop for us all to eat and drink can sometimes be challenging. Although we arrived a little later than booked, we were welcomed to this great establishment. We will definitely be back for the warm welcome, friendly staff and great food. Thank you once again for accommodating us!

A fantastic cafe with amazing coffee! We always pop in for coffee, breakfast or lunch when visiting family in Llandovery. If I was local this would be my daily coffee spot! Great food, friendly service and awesome coffee! Can’t wait to return!

I called here for beef baguette to take home. Literally that's all it was was beef in a small baguette and I was charged £6.95. Needless to say never again

We presumed this would be good as it was quite early and there were already a lot of people in. We were not disappointed the food was very good and not expensive. The portions were amazing as we along with others had a doggy bag go go. Would fully recommend.

We stopped by for an all-day breakfast on one of our trips to Ceredigion and enjoyed a meal cooked to perfection from premium ingredients and served not only with a smile but a happy chuckle. One of us had a side salad that was big...

We had a light breakfast and a breakfast omelette here and both were delicious. Good value for money and served by smiling happy people. All in all a five star experience!!

Came here during a friends' holiday in the Brecon Beacons to find somewhere to have afternoon tea and we weren't disappointed. The tea and cake selection was great and the tearoom had a relaxed atmosphere. Would definitely recommend and come here again!

The staff were lovely and very attentive. We ordered a brownie which came warmed up and was gooey and delicious. Great selection of teas and if we were staying longer we would definitely go back.

I wasn’t very impressed, if it is supposed to be a Victorian tea shop it wasn’t very Victorian. The scones were not homemade. The tables seemed very sticky for some reason. I suppose I was expecting something homely and it wasn’t.

This place offers the best coffee we've had outside of London. Didn't try any of the food but the coffee experience was great.

We stopped as a family to grab some food before heading out for the day. We spotted this cafe with covered outdoor seating so thought we’d give it a go, and I’m glad we did. The full English breakfast was magnificent. The bacon was a real highlight, thick and perfectly cooked. I’d put it up there with the best full English breakfast I’ve ever had. We returned multiple times during our stay and the food was fantastic every time.

We both had the Home-made beef chilli, just the right amound of spice, with a generous helping of Jalapenos to warm things up with a dollop of Sour Cream, and delicious freshly made chips. What's not to like?, and very reasonable prices, service excellent with just the right amount of attentiveness. The only slight down-side was that the tables were very sticky (they were spotlessly clean), the problem seems to be over waxing, and they could benefit from the polish being stripped back and reapplied.

Stopped here for lunch on our way to Pembrokeshire. Good choice of food on offer. We had sandwiches and panini which were excellent quality. The service is outstanding and the staff so hard working. Couldn’t fault!

Stopped here before our morning 3.5 hour drive home just on the off chance they did takeaway coffee, they did but we ended up staying and having breakfast, I had a all day breakfast and it was one of the best I've had, amazingly thick bacon, almost like gammon, and the coffee is fantastic! Service was spot on and it was a really quick service!Shame I can't bring this place back with us, top notch

I stopped for a light breakfast a couple of weeks ago and found the food, staff and general ambience very good. Well worth a visit if in the area.

I visited alone for a hot drink and bite to eat mid morning. It was quiet on arrival with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating available. Staff are friendly and attentive and the prices are fair.

A very pretty tea room housed in a beautiful Victorian building. I’m so glad that we stopped off here. The coffee and flapjack were delicious and our waitress was friendly and efficient. I highly recommend.

We dropped in as we noticed they had gluten free cake, it was amazing, really delicious. Also always appreciated that the menu is marked up with the gluten free options, always makes it so much easier. Very friendly and helpful staff.

We have been to Penygawse cafe many times it’s our favourite in Llandovery and very popular it is. They run the NHS track and trace systems and everything was run as safe as it can be be. Great staff and food as normal. We will return again. Give it a go, great cafe. M

I explained to the waitress that our food was cold, she took it away, then quickly brought back food that was reheated, instead of making fresh chips they just reheated them in the fryer so most of the potato had just disintegrated and you could’n put your fork into them, I explained to her that the chips had just been reheated rather than made fresh she said they were fresh, when we went to pay the waitress said she was sorry, but they just had a Hectic Day and was prepared to take off the price off the coffees. A very disappointed meal we had. No excuses, food should always be warm on arrival to the table

Stopped here for breakfast yesterday morning. Very good with covid practises and staff very friendly. The breakfast was huge and one of the best we have ever had, highly recommend

We stopped for a late lunch today and had a very nice sandwich and coffee/tea. The staff were friendly and attentive, and were all wearing face coverings.We sat outside in the sunshine and as the cafe is situated on a main road it is quite noisy which wasn't a problem for us but if you're wanting a quiet cuppa, probably best to sit inside.

Have visited a couple of times but only for drinks in the past, on this occasion we had lunch. The waiter serving us was really friendly and chatty. My partner had the unusual veggie fruit curry on a jacket potato and he loved it. A great find

Out and about whilst staying near to Brecon we ended up in Llandovery and found this lovely place. We had lunch which was superb and the chips were cooked to perfection, we would definitely recommend a visit and partaking in their delicious food. Thank you

Just about the best coffee I've ever had. Expertly dispensed. And bloody good cake as well. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. This guy can really make coffee.

I was reluctant to go in as there was a couple of chain smokers slouching around outside but when I went in my family were immediately impressed - this is a first class modern cool place to be. Excellent lunch - baguette , sandwiches, cakes etc. Fast friendly service. Superb coffee. Thoroughly recommend this as a place to stop for lunch or coffee. Veggie friendly too which is unusual for the area and a nice surprise for me.

We had lunch here today and although being busy is usually an encouraging sign as clinically vulnerable to covid I was a little nervous to enter. It's quite small so not much room to social distance but staff wore masks, a screen was at the till, sanitiser was available and staff were actively sanitising tables and chairs between customers. There was a particularly attentive young man serving who was very helpful. I was glad to see lots of gluten free menu options as a coeliac and well priced. Would certainly come back if in the area.

We called in for breakfast today. We sat outside the service was quick and staff pleasant. Upon leaving we noticed a large chalk board outside stating half price today. This with the items listed on the menu that we selected. We were charged we realised the full price upon leaving. We do hope other customers check and don't experience the same curiosity we did!

Had lunch here sat 8th Aug. The food was lovely, fabulous chips. But the service from the young man made it a real treat. He was attentive without being pushy, chased up our food without us asking and even though we hadnt waited that ling. And offered us water to drink because we were sitting in the sun. He's a real credit to the place. Thank you

We're on a family holiday and have visited here a couple of times and not been disappointed. The coffee is superb and the owner clearly knows his coffee - how to make and present a good one. Our flat whites went down very well. The veggie breakfast was great and a generous portion and the poached eggs were perfect. For the first time ever my husband couldn't finish his full cooked breakfast due to the large portion. Excellent friendly service. Would recommend.

Stopped by for coffee and a panini, staff attentive to you as soon as you approach the premises , very courteous and helpful, coffee and food gorgeous and looking at some of the dishes going past I’ll defiantly be going for a full lunch next time...can be a bit noisy sitting outside when the bikers open their throttle but still well worth a visit...

My daughter fancied a panini for lunch, so when I spotted them listed on the blackboard outside, she was overjoyed. We ordered lunches (bacon sandwich, southern fried chicken goujons, cheese and ham panini), milkshake and coffee. All of it was delicious. The panini was enormous, and apparently really good quality, tasty bread, ham and cheese. The salad accompanying my chicken was fresh and varied - I really enjoyed it, and my husband tells me the bacon sandwich was "spot on". Coffee was a good flavour and strength and the milkshake was perfect.The building itself was charming, with lots of character and history. Alan, the host, was very knowledgeable about the surrounding area and the local history. The waiting staff were attentive, polite and efficient. A perfect lunch stop! If we visit again, we would consider staying in the guest house. It's a beautiful area, centrally placed for exploring that part of Wales.

We were a little late in the day for anything from the hot menu, however the staff and owners were quite willing to do an extremely nice coronation chicken hot panini with lovely tortilla chips and dips, toasties no problem and hot chocolate with all the sprinkles. Well done, lovely welcoming tea room, definatley worth popping in for a light bite. Big thumbs up from us.

Called in here for a take away coffee while I was working in the area. The coffee was amazing and very reasonably priced. I even bought a 1kg bag of the coffee the use for my personal use at home. The dude behind the counter was really helpful and made sure I knew how to store the coffee to ensure it stayed fresh and prolonged its aroma. Will definitely call again.

We stumbled upon this tea room by accident , only realising that it is run by a barista trainer once we were inside . We had a great meal and the coffees and bara brith were really excellent. We had a lovely welcome too . We will definitely come back when we’re in the area

We have dropped in for morning coffee en route a number of times before and our latest experience did not disappoint. The coffee is excellent and there are a good selection of cakes/pastries. Service is friendly and efficient and prices reasonable.

Friday 6th September 2019. A family of 3 we stopped here for lunch. It's on the main road through Llandovery with seating outside (for better weather than on the day we were there). It's warm and quiet inside with decent tables and good service. Food was very decent. A good stopover on our trip to West Wales.

Stopped off on a rainy day and had a nice pot of tea for two and a slice of Barabrith and welsh tea cake. It was all delicious. The couple who run it were very friendly, warm and welcoming which made the experience all the better. After all, anyone can serve a cup of tea but these guys have realised that doing it with a smile makes it taste better.

Met mijn 2 kameraden tussenstop gedaan in Llandovery tijdens onze motortrip. Heel vriendelijk ontvangen door de gastvrouw. Kamers waren eenvoudig maar comfortabel en het ontbijt werd a la minute klaargemaakt met heel lekkere ingredienten. Alles positief dus ;-)

This is our third visit to Penygawse Tea Rooms...it is managed by a friendly, welcoming couple who provide excellent food at a reasonable price but, more importantly, their attention to presentation, service and taste is first class! The Tea Rooms are highly recommended in every area and I shall post a photograph of the home-made fishcakes,salad and skin-on triple-cooked chips that I chose:

Despite it being a very busy Bank holiday Monday, service was friendly and fast - even moving tables so that we could all sit together.

Arrived on a Sunday morning at 9am. Order was taken right away and arrived within minutes.

Not my first stay at The Penygawse , it’s a great stopover for me , but there are plenty of other hotels in the area however your sure of a good stay here. The building is old as you would expect so there are stairs to the rooms . The rooms are immaculately clean , the bed it comfortable and lovely touches like free bottled water awaits. The breakfast is amazing , we didn’t eat again until the evening we were so full , also Lattes and such are included with your breakfast.

Just happened on this place, very friendly nice lunch menu very clean. Staff lovely and chatty, freshly prepared food bought out by the chef. Very reasonable prices and clean well tended toilets. Ddfiwould recommend for a lite bite and a sit in sunshine.

Even the cutlery was 5 star. Stopped for brunch and had brilliantly veg breakfast and omelet with tea and coffee. Good ingredients, excellent service, lovey atmosphere and good solid cutlery! If you are hungry and in the area visit the Victorian tea rooms and enjoy.

Nice little place to stop for lunch. Generous fillings in both sandwiches. Gluten free cakes available as well as lovely cream tea. Good coffee. Reasonably priced also.

Stopped for lunch en route to Cardigan Bay. Lovely, generous portions of food along with the very friendliest of service. The number of locals using the place says it all. Highly recommended

Went to the first pop up bistro evening at Penygawse on Saturday 29/6. The food was fantastic and very different from the usual lunchtime offering. Lovely ambience, beautifully laid tables, great service. Would definitely recommend.

We have visited this Tea Room over the years, and it has never disappointed us.

We called in on our way to Brecon for a spot of lunch and the food and service was excellent and great value too. I had the light Veggie Breakfast and it was delicious. The veggie sausage was coated chopped veggies rather than the Quorn type stuff and the Chips my daughter had were delicious (rustic style rather than French fries). Looking forward to calling again sometime to try the cakes and coffee!

Stopped off for tea and cake, we sat outside with our dog and watched the world go by while enjoying a tea and coffee cake, they even gave me a little tub of walnuts as they did come in the cake.. Great service a really great place with friendly staff.

We called in when passing on our way home from a weeks holiday. We had two breakfasts a coffee and a tea. The food was lovely, beautiful perfectly cooked poached egss, lovely tasty thick bacon, tomatoes and mushrooms. Sausage were OK, only thing missing was marmalade, jam was good though says my other half. Best brekkie since we came to Wales! Coffee really good, strong and tasty. Got a takeaway as well!

Stopped in for a coffee and was amazed by the wonderful selection of food, especially the tasty Bakewell tart which went down a treat. Good value for money and friendly atmosphere 👍

What a great place. Immediately impressed by the welcome given by staff. Excellent coffee and it recharged us to carry on with a walk around Llandovery.

We have used this cafe often and it's great to grab a sofa /armchair and have a latte or cup of tea and watch the world go by. Dogs have to stay outside, but there is seating - although in the winter this if for the hardy! Local parking is available and cheap by today's standards. The menu has always had something for us and I would recommend this cafe.

Me and my partner were on a walking holiday with our dog in South Wales and came across this lovely tea rooms one afternoon after our long walk. What a great find, I had chicken salad sandwich on brown with a side of homemade chips. It had to be one of the best sandwiches I have had and the chips were amazing, really generous portions and friendly staff, great cafe outside can be noisy due to main road but inside is lovely, you won’t be disappointed
