Pennard Golf Club in Swansea

Loved the course, but the weather wasn't the best. Wow, was it windy today or not!?!? Made the golf a bit tricky but still enjoyed the course.

Played the course after an absolutely dreadfull spell of heavy rain and floods in South Wales. 95% of golf courses were infact closed because the rain has been so bad. Pennard however was absolutely in impeccable condition ,bone dry and almost like playing in summer. I'll be joining as a member for sure.

Just had our first visit to the club, but definitely not our last. Spacious lounge with exceptional views. Wide choice on the menu. The four of us had piping hot home made soup and chicken dijons to start, absolutely delicious. Two had steaks, I had an excellent beef lasagna and my sister had ham and two eggs with great chips. Our waiter was a delightful young man, who gave us superb service. My husband saw their breakfast menu and can't wait to get back there. Thank you for a smashing lunch.

A very special course that is the definition of ‘hidden gem’. Definitely a top 5 course in Wales and cannot recommend highly enough. Course was in superb condition too

One of the best and the hardest golf course I have ever played. Fantastic links golf with great costal views. Fab greens in immaculate conditions. Driving range next to the club house and fully equipped pro shop. Excellent club house, very friendly and competent staff, great variety of meals (also for vegetarians and vegans!). 100+% recommendation to play this course!

Greens and tees superb!!! Fairways poor but didn't effect our enjoyment. Breakfast was really nice too. Staff very welcoming and friendly.

If you want an easy golf course to play then don't play at Pennard, it's a good test for any golfer, especially when the wind blows. It plays like a links, very undulating fairways and fast rolling greens. The views are amazing, so even if the course is beating you up you'll enjoy the walk.

Recently played on an extremely windy and rainy day. Even the members took a pass that day, as there were only one or two other groups on the course. The course itself is absolutely stunning. Gorgeous views, fabulous links terrain. I have played several mediocre courses with fabulous views, but I can tell you Pennard is not a mediocre course. So many interesting and challenging holes. The 7th hole with its view of the castle is so fun. Making par on the 13th, a long par three playing into a very strong wind, well that was one of the best pars of my life. Step behind the 16th green and the view is just jaw dropping beautiful. I still do not know where my ball ended up after the drive on 14, but that is the story of links golf. I could play this course every day and never be bored. If you are a golfer that enjoys the challenges of links golf, come here and play. You will not regret it. And a shout out to the members and the dining staff. Friendly folks and good food. We enjoyed our visit very much.

I played this course back in the mid 90´s and over a period of 2 months. Was the greatest golf experience of my life to date. At the time, horses and sheep ran wild on the course. They bothered me less than the hikers though! My most amazing memory was to make birdie on the ruined castle chapel hole… hope to play this again before I’m worm food.

Great welcome and great course, food was ok

We played in the Club's Open mixed greensomes. Unfortunately, we followed by a group of four members (one of whom is apparently a senior committee member) who totally spoilt our day. They accused us of holding up the course: we didn't. We were regularly waiting for the group in front (or walkers) to clear and certainly never fell a hole behind. Nevetheless, we invited them to play through, which they declined. Twice they hit balls past us. On the 12th they drove the greenside bunker whilst we were still playing up to the green. After firm words were spoken, they backed off and eventually went in. For the record, we had to wait on the 18th tee for several minutes and finished immediately behind the group in front. I reported the matter to the club manager at the end who, in fairness, said he would take the matter up. And again in fairness, I played in another open competition earlier in the week with two club members, who were great company. Nevertheless, it spoit out day. And no, we're not rubbish golfers, both our pairs got 38 points and one of the group got a hole in one! As for the course, it is a traditional links style course and a real test of golf. The greens are in top condition and the views are stunning. Downsides are very poor course signage, cattle, electic wires around the green, hundreds of dangerous rabbit holes and very busy and noisy public rights of way accross and around the course. The clubhouse is great, the food very good and all of the staff very friendly and helpful. Just a shame about a couple of selfish members.

I really enjoyed this golf course, fantastic view throughout. This is a very unique links, it does feel like play links in the sky. Apart from the fairway is very dry (probably due to the recent heatwave), everything else are great!!

Stunning views, this is a very good test of your golf game. Really enjoyed my round of golf here, theres rarely a flat lie on the fairways, the greens were great too. It'll be a challenge to walk for some, so take an electric trolley or get a buggy booked. Make sure you play this one if you're on a trip.

As a visitor we arrived and the bar was closed for 'training' the course needs far more signage to show you the way.... All in all definitely not the best course I've ever played

Couldn't tell you what it's like to play golf, as I was here for a funeral wake. But the staff were lovely and the food they put on for the buffet was tasty. Thanks very much.

Great welcome and friendly staff. Course in almost perfect condition. Many rabbit holes to gobble up balls that stray off the fairway, and they will. Greens fantastic

For an oldie the course is brutal. A fantastic traditional links course. Many holes where you stand on the tee and wonder which direction you need to play. Lots of manufactured shots which were often blind. Suggest arranging to play with a member as playing for the first time could be a very difficult round. The views are fantastic and the club house and pro shop are very friendly and welcoming. I played in a senior open off 16. A poor showing of 26pts and 24+ hrs to recover, but loved every minute. I return in a few months to pick up the challenge again. If you give up on the golf, the Gower coast is a wonder so stay over.

Excellent links course with top quality greens. Very welcoming with a modern clubhouse with great food. If you're planning to play in the morning turn up early and treat yourself to breakfast!

It's like you have gone to heaven.Stunning views ,great layout,challenging yet fun. Great catering in the clubhouse,fairly priced, tasty pub like grub, perfect after 18 holes of golf.

Fantastic golf course, considering time of year the golf course was in great condition. Beautiful scenery, one of my favourite golf courses in Wales. Bar staff were very helpful and food was excellent.. Highly recommended..

I played at Pennard Golf Club open on the 9th Sept 2021, I received a fine penalty on the 18th Sept saying that I had parked in a PERMIT HOLDERS car space. I am furious as there were no signs to say that where I parked was a PERMIT HOLDER Space, no photo of me parked in the PERMIT HOLDERS Car Space!! I certainly won't be playing at this Club ever again as it cost me £60 to park and play at their Open,plus entry fee and food, total of £85's SO BEWARE when you go to Pennard Golf Club.

Superb golf course with excellent staff and professional .Nothing to much trouble.A must to visit

wonderful views around the local gower coast including 12th century Norman Castle overlooking the view to Oxwich Head . The golf course is known as " The Links in the Sky " all weather course but can be testing during windy conditions , suggest T time booked before arrival as the course is popular with members & visitors. Walk around the course taking in the views is recommended but don't forget your camera , follow the sign posts for footpath then enjoy the bar menu. Restaurant has a hearty menu also supported by bar meals which are of good quality , the on site professional is helpful with ample stock for a day's golf. If you do visit this venue you will not be disappointed . ( The photo i have posted is of a local painter taking in the view )

Beautiful course in a beautiful area of Wales

Food absolutely fantastic, great value and the staff are brilliant. Highly recomended!

Really nice place. Good food and friendly service. But they don't tell you or ask you if you have a car in the car park. There are signs but they're placed high on posts around 12ft up where they're easily missed enabling you to get a parking ticket. Then the reception is closed so you can't sort it out.

A very tough but enjoyable course, some of the best Par 3's I've ever played, a great welcome and would highly recommend. Thank you

Great course but for your first visit allow 5 to 6 hours for 18 holes.

I was stuck in a traffic jam on the road due to road was blocked for some reason looked like a golf coarse and had flags fairways and even a club house ....I wasn't convinced If it was a golf coarse as I did not witness any golfers but if you like golf try it out so the next time I go past I can see you and I can confirm it is a golf coarse

One of my favourite Golf courses. UPDATE: 3 years on this is still one of my favourite courses and the course, the views and the welcome are beyond reproach.

Top notch golf course and clubhouse and it stayed dry....great food too.

Enjoyed the challenge, but some if the ladies found the carries to the fairways tough and the rough was punitive.

I and my wife rejoined Pennard Golf Club as the professional coaches are very good the pro shop is the same and our overall experiences at the club have been brilliant, also the bar and restaurant offer excellent value for money with good quality cooked food.

Yeah, of course I am a member (?) I wish. I had parked outside to give a lift to a friend. Top class place. On my bucket list.

Great golf course brilliant views stunning

The course is in great condition. Its a real challenge of golf. The holes are exciting, there are clever bunker placings and the pace of the greens is good. Its a typical links with undulating fairways and has the benefit of superb views over the sea.There is nothing to fault this course. The staff are great and very helpful and the food is lovely.Highly recommended.

Pennard is nicknamed the Links in the sky as it is one of the highest links course in the world. The height of the course means that there are stunning views of the Gower.There are ruins of a 11th century village buried on the course and also a castle with a dramatic setting.The course is not at its best in the Summer as it gets very dry with punishing rough but the greens are outstanding and there is a nice vibe in the club with good food and a small but nice seating area overlooking the course.

This is a spectacular golf course with stunning views. Unfortunately at present the fairways are really distressed but it was still a great experience. Some great holes, some (like 17) are almost impossible if you don't already know them.

Booked for 2pm Sunday lunch sitting only to be told that there was no chicken left and had to order from the bar menu. 2 of our party did have the Sunday lunch but although it was tasty it was a bit cold.

We went for an evening meal, Pobbles restaurant, we were staying locally and the restaurant was recommend.The food was lovely, the chicken salad was amazing and the service was brilliant, the chef even came out to talk to us and gave the kids lollipop and told us about the sunset views.Would highly recommend.

Great Golf Club with amazing views even a castle!

Only walked through the golf course to get to Pennard Castle. But what I saw of the course, it looked very nice indeed. Great location with excellent views of the surrounding coastal area. The club house looked very nice as well. All in all a great place to play a round of golf.

Had a fantastic round on the 18th May. Views are spectacular and the greens are in great shape.

Visited Pobbles Restaurant at Pennard Golf Club for Sunday lunch yesterday. The staff are both friendly and efficient. There was a choice of four starters and four mains ( including one vegetarian) and then lots of puddings.My daughter and I opted for the roast beef and a pudding.The beef was served with mashed and roast potato, Yorkshire pudding, parsnip and gravy. The vegetables came separately - cabbage, swede, carrots and peas, all cooked very well and served hot. There was also additional gravy. Horse radish was offered.I selected apple pie and custard and my daughter had a caramel chocolate brownie with ice cream for dessert.Excellent value for money in a pleasant dining room with beautiful views.We will definitely go again.

Really good on the hill. Overseas a beach. Lots of wind on occasion so the golf will be quite of a challenge to play. But isn't that the beauty of playing on such scenic courses.

Played Pennard for the first time today. Wonderful course with stunning views. Were made very welcome. Few things could have been better e.g signage on the course. Card issued for our Ladies Open had no yardages or course map. Luckily we had taken standard cards with us. Would definitely like to return soon.

We didn't stay there, but walked through it, as we booked airb&b right opposite, Hedgeway, at Sandy Lane. On a rainy day, it was also great, at night we saw the stars. On a sunny day, golfers are not so keen on people walking through theirxpkaying fields, but we had to take that route to get to sea. Besides golf course wasnt fences. Some players are more helpful than others. Just on the border of that golf course, there are ruins of an old castle. Beautiful views from there!

Open to everyone, this is a great place for a coffee or a drink with a stunning view across Pennard Golf course. Friendly atmosphere.

1st class golf club with stunning views.

14 of us played the course the last week of March. The welcome from the pro was brilliant and friendly and gave us a load of advice. Upstairs in the bar the ladies could not have been more welcoming and friendly and went out of their way to make us welcome.The course is nothing short of stunning. The views are breathtaking and every hole had the "wow" factor. The 7th is simply the best gokf hole I have ever played.After the round we had a great laugh with the girls and made the whole visit one to remember.Cannot recomend the place high enough, we will definately be going back for another visit.
