Pengarreg Bar and Lounge in Ceredigion

We had 2 meals at the Barn while staying at Pengarreg Caravan Park. The food was outstanding. There were five of us and we chose differently from the menu; every meal was of very high quality. The food was very well cooked and presented and the portions make desserts a difficult choice. The waiting staff were friendly and attentive. The chef, Eric, came to ask for feedback and it is clear that he takes great pride in how he runs the restaurant. The newly appointed bar manager, Ross, was also efficient and keeping the beers to a high standard. Overall a real gem that can be highly recommended.

We arrived at the barns, and greeted by friendly staff luckily we had booked well in advance it looked like a popular place which couples we saw been turned away due to his popularity we order the food which came very quickly nice and tasty there’s only one dish which was a bit cold which we sent back but he was immediately rectified good value for money excellent place to take the young ones as well after so they can play outside on the swings and on the grass a very family oriented place

My friend and I turned up at The Barn on a very wet, windy Monday morning needing a 'comfort break' whilst walking the coastal path. Even though it was closed and the staff were having their morning coffee break, the owner let us in, allowed us to use the toilet and made us both a warm cup of coffee, which she refused payment for! She and her staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming and had it been open for supper that evening we would have definitely gone back and had a meal. Such a warm, friendly welcome to 2 very desperate, grateful travellers. Many thanks.

Ate here last week while staying on the local campsite whist touring. Just the 2 of us and it was a most excellent meal (actually it was 2 excellent meals).If this was somewhere local to our home (it sadly isn’t) we’d be in it very very regularly.If I had to find any fault at all then I’d say that the waiting on staff were not proactive enough and would benefit hugely from being a bit more attentive. In their defence they did nothing wrong, it just seemed to us that they weren’t quite as on the ball as they could have been. Certainly didn’t spoil our evening, just an observation. We left very happy with our lot.

We had been trying to find somewhere to eat on holiday in New quay all week. We could not get anywhere Then we found this gem of a restaurant .Meals were outstanding, absolutely delicious, staff were very attentive, and really pleasant . We booked again for our Sunday Lunch . Again, we were not disappointed. Beautifully cooked meal and fast service . Another bonus , it is dog friendly which is very hard to come across .

Great little place! Food and drink were very good and sensibly priced. Staff were friendly and efficient. Head Chef Eric put himself out, before opening time, to accommodate my daughter so she could use his WiFi for her University Zoom meeting. Will definitely return ASAP.

I cannot recommend The Barn enough! They went out of their way to accommodate our family, they could not do enough and it was not any trouble. We were a party of five adults and four kids. One of our kids is autistic and they let us have our meal in a separate room which was much quieter. They also let us bring in food for him to eat, which the chef cooked for us. All adults and children thoroughly enjoyed our meal and we got puddings to take away to our camp as we were stuffed. The waitress was great and the chef Erik came out and had a chat with us which was lovely. We will definitely be visiting again. Absolutely faultless.

We booked this place had lovely private table with high chair, the menu had plenty of choice even for the fussy ones or have allergies the welcome was excellent & the staff was fantastic I ordered Steak & my partner & father also ordered steak well done it all came out in good timely manner & very nice well presented & good value for money the pudding menu was okay & tasty, the only one thing I would suggest to the proprietor is to have flags or means to identity which stake is which , this only being very fussy but overall it a fantastic place & i will certainly will return.

Came here for my son birthday meal and the first time eating in since COViD.The Barn is very clean and well-spaced out. There is plenty of seating outside with a park area for kids. The food is outstanding value for money and the portions more than generous. Staff a very friendly and the check came out to check that everyone was ok and enjoying the food. I had the steak and Guinness (better than the steak and Guinness at the Guinness factory in Dublin) the dressing on the salad was delicious. Husband had the brisket that just melted in the mouth and our son had the steak. We then had a lovely stroll down to the sea to help the food go down. Look forward to a return visit and trying the Sunday lunch.Would highly recommend a visit and meal here.

Had take out Sunday lunch from hear was amazing lots of variety all cooked perfectly good portion size will definitely return please carry on with the takeouts

Had family meal while on holiday with family staff great... service slow....food good had whitebait for starter nice and good portion burger for main very nice good to see it comes with onion rings allot of places you have to pay extra...wife had lasagne she said it was ok bit to cheesey...looked burnt to me...rest of family had burgers and enjoyed them...will be back...7

What can we say about the Barn? We ate there Friday evening and found the food to be fresh, tasty and piping hot (something I feel strongly about) I had lasagne, my husband had the fish and chips which he discribed as the best ever! Our five year old had macaroni cheese which again was delicious, in her words better than daddys. Just snacking Saturday even the snacks were spot on! Sunday brought a wonderful weekend, we went for the Christmas fayre which was excellent. We all had roast Sunday lunch, being joined by Mam and Dad again delicious and flavourful. Big shout out to Graham, especially the very talented Chef and all bar and restaurant staff. All were polite, helpful and cheerful. Thanks everyone until next time. Went to The Barn with my family for Sunday lunch (best to book), couldn't fault it. Massive portions and all cooked to perfection. One off my son's is a bit of a fussy eater so they did him some sausages, the staff were brilliant and couldn't do enough to help. I dont think they do anything else than a carvery on a Sunday lunch time. (Please check I may be wrong)Play area directly outside for the kids.Overall, would definitely recommend, fantastic staff and fantastic food. Well worth a visit.

We arrived at 10am in the morning to check the place out in advance and we knew we would be back later.Came here with family as a celebratory dinner and we were served all night by a lovely helpful young lady called Charley. Our main courses were all heartily finished and maybe some of us also found room for two of the delicious desserts too...Would recommend for anyone local or staying nearby. The bar does seem attached to a hall next door where bingo seemed to be going on and there seems ample choice of seating if you are just there for a drink too.There is even a little room with a couple of machines to play.Overall a great evening with some great meals of a damn good size for a big appetite.Will visit again next time I'm in the area.

This person spent more time collecting glasses, barking at people to move and smoking, then not serving people whilst washing glasses. It honestly was like fawlty Towers!!! Rest of staff great, locals, great, and the way he spoke to his staff was disgusting. As much as I like the place HE would and will stop me visiting again. I think the owners should see what is before their eyes!!!!!

We were staying close by and decided to eat at the Barn. What a lovely restaurant. We all had two courses and everyone enjoyed the food. There is a wide range on offer. The restaurant also had a good choice of real Ale. We then played pool for a couple of hours. There was loads of atmosphere and the Staff made us very welcome. Would definitely recommend.

We had our evening meal here tonight. The service was super, friendly. The food was amazing, good size portions, very good value for money.

This is about my fourth visit since massive refurbishments over the past few years and it’s been a real pleasure every time.Okay, it’s the carvery we come for on a Sunday lunchtime, getting busy now the kids are on holiday, but hey, you get what you want. Good succulent roast meat, and plenty of it. The vegetables tend to be a bit overdone but that’s the nature of carvery’s.As stated before, it’s comfortable, the beers good, as is the wine choice (apparently) and the bill’s not to heavy either. Staff all very friendly and helpful.Well done all.

We're staying at a friend's caravan at Morfa farm and walk round to the Barn. Not much from the carpark but the standards of the food knocked our socks off. When we asked, the Welsh cheese was very tasty and the mushroom were locally farmed and the best we had tasted in years. We did complain....the portions were enormous! Could not fault the sevice even though there was a table of 20 next to us.....going again tomorrow night, lots on the menu to stimulate the taste buds!

Awful customer service ... I ask if they are serving food, told yes, seated with a menu, given five minutes to choose and then told they cannot serve us food anymore because the kitchen closes at three, despite being told they were still serving and it still being 14:50. I hope you are ashamed of such disgusting service! Luckily we found the black lion just down the road who were far more accommodating and welcoming.

Had a lovely Sunday lunch after some golf with the kids. Very helpful and friendly staff. Puddings were really good too. Will definitely return. Kids got to go for a swim after which was a bonus!

Called in on the off chance we could get a table and they got us straight in. Although judging how busy it got it's probably advisable to book. It was a carvery, plenty of choice and lots of it and absolutely delicious. We will definitely go again next year when we come for our weekend away.

As a large group of friends we were looking for a venue in the area to hold our annual Christmas get together having looked at the reviews on Trip Advisor we decided that The Barn was just what we were looking for. We made a phone call with the view to making a booking only to be informed that they do not open on Thursday evenings in December when we explained that we were a group of 12 they were only to happy to open especially for us, and boy were we pleased that they did the meals were fantastic and the service was first class and the hospitality show to us by the management was exceptional.

Me and my family visited the barn for meals and drink and the staff and venue were brilliant. My 1 year old loved the play area

Sunday lunch carvery is very good value for money. Booking a table in advance is a must as they are so busy.

Came to the Barn Restaurant for my mom's birthday on her recommendation as she is always talking about how nice the Sunday lunch is there, well she isn't wrong, the food is amazing!! Service great and a lovely touch that the Chef came out to check we were all happy. Will definitely recommend and visit again, hopefully to try the Sunday lunch, Thank you

Came as part of a birthday party. Food was very nice, had the chicken skewers, very tasty and tender. The brownie was delicious and the salted caramel icecream was divine. We will come back again.

We visit this restaurant may times every year, the food is always extremely good and the Sunday Lunch is the best in Wales (Booking advised) The staff are very attentive and Manuel the chef is always at hand to ensure you enjoy your meal. The lounge/Bar area is very comfortable for you to sit and enjoy a drink before and after your meal.

I have a holiday cottage in Llanrhystud village. I had an excellent meal that The Barn whilst staying there last week. Very good menu, beautifully cooked meals, attentive chef and staff. Highly recommend to both visitors and residents.

As we were staying on the caravan site we booked for Sunday lunch at 1-00pm. The place was so busy that it was nearer to 1-40pm before we were served. The carvery was very good, although by the time we were served the joints of meat were quite small and the slices of meat were 'bitty'. The reason for this was that a party of 12 were served before us even though they were booked in after us, and the meat was slow in coming through from the kitchen but the flavour was good.

We went to this restaurant to celebrate my daughters birthday. We were a party of 7 and seated straight away. We were offered menus but no drinks. After we had ordered the food we were still not offered any drinks although here was a drinks menu on the table. We assumed that we had to order at the bar which my husband did. The chef came out and told the waitress off for not taking out drinks order at the table. The place was very busy and I suspect that they were understaffed. The food was really tasty and I can recommend the steaks. Cooked to perfection. The chef came out and wandered around the tables speaking to customers which was appreciated. He is clearly proud of his restaurant. I would go back.

Really surprised at the great quality for reasonable prices. Most meals £10 or under and kids choices for £4.50. Will be visiting again.

A friend suggested The Barn as a place to visit for a friend's birthday meal and living fairly local, did not know that the place existed. What a pleasant surprise, there's plenty of room to sit and eat or sit to have a few drinks at the bar. The menu had plenty of choice and very reasonably priced. The staff were very friendly and helpful and nothing was too much trouble. Can't wait to visit again.

Highly recommended. I cannot speak highly enough about the staff, food and fantastic location. Situated on the west Wales rigid coast and very welcoming to all. Food is excellent, menu selection very good, plenty of food to satisfy even the largest appetite and all at a good price. The staff are so friendly and quick it was a pleasure to eat here, and most importantly it was spotlessly clean.If you want a Sunday roast you will need to reserve a table as this place is so busy. It is patronised by holiday makers and residents of the nearby caravan site and you would find it difficult to find a better roast ANYWHERE. We had a meal later in the week ordering from the menu and it was delicious... again excellent service. You are also able to order takeaways from the same menu to eat outside or to take back to where you are staying, where can you go wrong?There is a large play area for children outside. It is also dog friendly with plenty of clean water bowls about for them

Had a lovely evening with friends the food was absolutely beautiful I couldn't fault it. Popped in for an end of the working week "classic burger" whilst out walking the dog. Arrived around 7 and the venue was busy both inside and outside with holidaymakers and caravan park residents alike. We took a table outside where we could sit with our dog comfortably - this included having access to two water bowls which I was able to have filled at the bar - thank you. Drinks were ordered very quickly from the bar, which where we were served by very pleasant staff, our order included a pint of very welcome real ale (£3) and a bottle of pear cider (£3.50). My burger (£9.95) was ordered and paid for separately in the very welcoming well laid out restaurant. Had the bill been over £10 then I could have paid by card. I was given an order number (on a very nice touch a wooden spoon in a small wine bottle) and the very friendly waitresses brought the food, cutlery and real Heinz/HP branded condiments outside in a very reasonable timescale considering how busy the kitchen was. I had opted out of the cold slaw but the side salad was fresh and served with a lovely balsamic dressing, the brioche bun was soft and tasty but the highlight was the Quality, taste and texture of the beef patty accompanied by plenty of fried onion rings, streaky bacon and a couple of melting cheese slices (see photograph). Ok so the chips are frozen but you were served with a very reasonable portio, which were fine. All in all a good meal that hit the marque in all senses. Great location, very friendly, great fixtures and furnishings, fresh food, good selection of drinks and great value - get here if you can - thank you Team The Barn at Pengarreg.

Came here with my mum, brother and his girlfriend. We had a fab meal. The three of us had hunters chicken which was gorgeous and home made and mum had the garlic mushrooms as she wasn't very hungry - hers was also very tasty! We were also here at a wedding recently and the food was amazing - no faults. Prices are reasonable too and so is the prosecco! Will be back again soon.

We visited on the for the carvery on the Sunday very tasty everything was piping hot and a plentiful plateful. Although I have visited here in the past about a year ago I had a curry which was truly terrible I think maybe they have changed the chef now xx

I arrived here at the camp site as a last minute decision. we paid the fee at the house to the camp site owners and right from the start they were incredibly welcoming and friendly. We instantly felt at ease and welcomed to their site. Later in the evening, one of the owners approached us and come out of his way to give us the wifi pass code which was a really nice gesture. He came out of his way to ensure we were having a nice time. Thank you - we will be back :)

bar and lounge on the same site as same named static and touring caravan park.park is overlooks a stoney beach open access. great views of surrounding welsh hills, sea and across to coast towards aber and towyn.lounge and bar very good best to book to eat gets busy. staff friendly and helpful. only comment is menu needs updating and more choice needed.sunday lunch is very goodshame the on site shop has now closed.large petrol station with shop on main road opposite entrance

We had a 10 day holiday here on the campsite and went to the bar on numerous occasions. The staff were always friendly, smiling and helpful. The food in the restaurant was nice, the half ribs rack is a starter on the menu, but should be a main, it's that big. Thank you for a great holiday pengarreg.

Very friendly staff, service was amazing, I had the rack of ribs and struggled to finish it as the plate was piled high with fantastic food, loved the giant onion rings! Steaks were spot on too. Nice large play area outside for the kids to enjoy whilst parents can sit and watch with a pint. Good value for money and will be back again next year for more.

Was recommended by friends from a holiday park nearby to try the Sunday lunch so turned up without booking and they squeezed us in last minute.it was a carvery with beef and turkey with all the trimmings.the food was fresh tasty and the best Sunday lunch I had for ages.people if you are in the surrounding area then I suggest you book this place for your Sunday lunch as you will not be disappointed,can't wait to go again as its so delicious.THE BEST IN THE AREA BY FAR.

We have visited the bar many times for food or just drinks. Lovely friendly atmosphere, situated on the edge of Pengarreg Caravan Park. The bar and restaurant is open to the public. The food is excellent, bar food and in the restaurant. The Sunday carvery is lovely with a wide selection of fresh vegetables. Great for children as there is a large play area outside. Booking is recommended.
