Pendragon in Cardiff

Attended the afters of a funeral here. Place was rammed as expected but the staff did their best. Food and drink were very good.

Went for a family Sunday Roast on Easter Sunday for 6 at 12.30pm. booked in advance and the table was reserved for us when we arrived. A selection of starters mains and desserts were on the menu. We went for mains only. Those who selected the carvery (beef/lamb) were happy with the quality and amount of food. Plenty of veg too on a sharing platter for the table. Those who asked for the vegetarian dish were disappointed - more of a cranberry tart than any veg (I think they mentioned it was a butternut squash tart). Most of us were too full after to order anything for dessert. You order and pay at the bar before eating and go and help yourself to condiments. Staff were cordial. It got very busy while we were there and they were turning people away so we were glad we booked. Overall a pleasant reasonable Easter Sunday meal.

Good food reasonably priced. Great service from bar and serving staff, excellent evening out at the Pen Dragon.

Fab food & service Sunday lunch , the best !

My two children and I came here today for Sunday lunch. I had a roast with beef and my kiddies 8 and 10 had the children’s roast with chicken. The beef was just lovely! The vegetables were cooked really well. The kiddies portions were really really generous too. Extremely good value for money. The staff as always were super friendly and accommodating as I hadn’t reserved a table. The food wait time was perfect and the atmosphere inside just lovely for a Sunday afternoon. We were not rushed to leave at all. I even managed to get some work done whilst the kiddies played in the outside park. I will definitely be back and I would recommend it to families for Sunday lunch.

A lovely suburban pub with a lively atmosphere. Good selection of beers. There was a male voice choir singing carols there the night we went which was really lovely.

Fantastic Friday evening dinner. One of the best pub meals I’ve had in recent months. I really enjoyed it. Great staff too, friendly and on-the-ball. I’ve been here before and it just gets better and better.

Came in on the off chance of getting a table for food and some drinks there were 5 of us and we were seated straight away. Service and food were 2nd to none and very reasonable. Lovely thank you

Came in as a table of 8 and ordered food as they started service time. Waited nearly an hour, some dishes had obviously been under the heat lamp for a while including the burgers (who's buns were completely toasted by this point and the chicken dry and rubbery). Kids Mac n cheese has chilli powder in it?!? Asked about it and told that's how it comes in. Fair enough, but no mention on the menu.

Met up with relatives here, a first time visit, and although we didn't eat here, what was being served looked fantastic. The beers were excellent and l would recommend coming here for whatever reason,

Can’t fault The Pendragon since it’s been taken over. Really great tasting & large roast dinner enjoyed today.

Love this pub. Relaxed atmosphere, super helpful staff, good honest food and very reasonably priced. Dog friendly too with a lovely outdoor space.

Amazing Sunday lunch, food was cooked very well, good quality and a good enough amount to feed us all which included 3 men with large appetites! Staff very welcoming & pleasant. Easy booking online. Definitely worth a visit.

The Pendragon has always been a fantastic venue with a great garden for beers in the sun. The menu is amazing with food fit for royalty. The Sunday roasts are mouth watering and portions to feed a small army or my son Charlie. The staff are courteous and fun, both the Amy’s are great. Service with a smile and a good laugh. Kudos to the whole Pendragon team for all of their efforts to make my family feel welcome and well looked after. Thank you so very much. Andrew

Great food at a reasonable price. The standards have improved greatly over the last few months. The new pizzas are amazing! Proper Italian dough style! And their hunters chicken is fresh and delicious, not the usual microwave nonsense. Always great service. New lights in the beer garden and music is lovely. Our son loves the play area. Inside could do with more lighting in the dark areas especially as we go into the autumn and winter please.

Came for Sunday lunch and it was the best beef brisket dinner, it was everything I wanted! Everything was so fresh and tasty! Even tried one of the new cocktails and it was gorgeous!! Our server Amy was very welcoming and pleasant and came to check back on us as well! Will definitely be going again! 10/10

We have eaten at the Pendragon several times and never been disappointed. Today was no different excellent service from Amy from taking our orders to bringing it to the table, she checked everything was satisfactory and couldn’t fault the attention she gave, definitely be returning.

Unfortunately the pub and beer garden is super run down and very dirty. I sat down with my partner and dog on a bench at a table outside and instantly got covered in sticky stuff that was all over the bench. The table was also super sticky everywhere to where it would then stick to my elbow and then when I leant on the menu it had my elbow print on there and the dirt would stick to the laminated menus and put dirt onto that! One waiter also came out to ten out dog that he couldn’t jump on the table outside (which is fair even though the table we were sat at had old gum and bird poo on it) but he was so rude in the way he said it it made us want to leave. The waiter said ‘can you get your dog off the table people eat there you know’. There’s a polite way of saying things and a rude way. He also said it to myself when I was alone and my husband had gone in to order food. Anyway very disappointing and not friendly member of staff. The tables outside had not been wiped down once since we got there with a busy changeover.

Okay. Prices not too bad. Kids running around everywhere though.

Decent sized friendly safe pub with pool table, parking and a beer garden, drink deals on a Monday.

There was a really horrible smell in the pub. There was a very long wait for food even though it was quiet. I wouldn’t have minded if the food was good when it arrived but it wasn’t. Tasteless watery curry and it wasn’t cheap either....

After a lovely spa day my friend and I thought we would have a nice meal to round off a very enjoyable day..how wrong we were..we were told we were too early for a meal so ordered a drink to have in the beer garden...

My friend and I had a disgusting meal at the Pendragon yesterday. We chose a meal with chips, when the meals were served to us I was shocked to think they could present customers with such an awful meal. I told them I couldn't accept the meal, she did replace the burnt chips but the replacement was almost as bad, and the cheese was like rubber. In the recent past I frequented the place weekly for around 13 years, the meals at that time were lovely. What a huge disappointment, we won't be going there again

The main issue with the pub is is has a strong stench of urine in the main bar area. It is very overpowering and unpleasant. I would not personally want to eat or spend any length of time it there for that reason.

We booked at Pendragon for a Friday night family dinner before a wedding at Manor Parc along the road. Lovely pub. Plenty of parking (we walked). Varied menu. Good food. Reasonable prices.

Bar staff are very nice but also professional. The food was lovely even near end of evening. We love it there.

Fab experience. Lovely food. My 22 month old grandson loved the children's area. Staff very polite and couldn't be more helpful. Will visit again soon as only live 15 mins walk away so very local.

We arrived as a group of 7 mixed ages, we’re greeted warmly and efficiently by Amy , the menu looked appetising and when the food arrived ( promptly) it was exceptionally good and great size portions, nothing was too much trouble and we’ll definitely be making a date for lunch again very soon!

Bank holiday visit , the pendragon has changed hands from marstons and clearly advertised that they do not do all day food anymore just lunch and evening which was fine . Except a bank holiday Monday when unbeknown to myself they stop serving at 7pm...

Arrived at the pendragon on the 3rd June at 1:30pm for a meal with family. The staff were all fine and helpful but unfortunately the food I received was very poor. I ordered the 8oz rump steak rare and my mother in law had gammon. We waited just under a hour for food to be served and when it did arrive the steak came out half well done to half burnt and the chips on both plates were some of the worst Iv ever been served (looked like they had been left in a deep fat fryer for 2 days) very disappointing and unfortunately I would not recommend this pub to anyone for the risk of getting the same experience.

I have enjoyed many meals ar The Pendragon on the years, but this my be my last! My Wife's hunters chicken was dry as a bone and my surf & turf was initially missing the surf. Chips also the worst we have had in a long time. Something needs to change!!

Used to be a nice Brains pub, then Marston's, now owned by a different man who owns one more pub. Awful sour beer I'm afraid and a pretty average meal. Used to be my regular lunch choice but don't think I will be back sorry

I'm afraid food wasn't good. My friend had a refund on hers. Its changed hands since the last time I went. Buttermilk chicken seemed to be on the menu in many forms and the peppercorn sauce looked like gravy with peppercorns in it. Disappointed I'm afraid .

Excellent service and improvement in the food.

Booked a table for 8 of us for husband's 40th. Couldn't fault the service! Two rowdy children who didn't Wana stay still for more than 2 mins, was given colouring and bubbles to help with the situation and the landlady was so friendly! Outside play area helped massively too! Ordered food and the beef Sunday dinner was to die for! Everything was cooked to perfection. Others had the fish platter and hake & chips and also said how nice it was. 5* and will definitely be returning soon.

Came as a group of six on Saturday afternoon. Staff were great; Wye Valley beer was very drinkable and reasonably priced. Sad to say all our meals were very poor - sad burgers, overcooked battered fish and tired starchy chips. Just low end pub grub....

First visit and was very impressed.
