We visited here for the first time whilst doing a walk along the seafront on a virtual treasure hunt. The main cafe was closed due to Covid but they were offering drinks and limited snacks that you could order from one hatch and then collect at another. After we had collected the queue began to grow and it seems a popular place to get refreshment with great views over the water.

This place totally exceeded expectations on all fronts! Great location with superb views of the Solent, Isle of Wight and shipping. The restaurant is reacting very effectively to the Covid-19 situation with regard to safety, as well as continuing to offer "Eat Out to Help Out" discounts into October. We had 2 starters and 2 mains (all seafood dishes) and were very pleasantly surprised by both quality and quantity. Probably 2 dishes, certainly 3, would have been easily sufficient, but we couldn't bear to leave any of the main ingredients. Drinks prices did drive the total bill up, despite the very welcome £20 discount. Service was quick and efficient: we would have been quite happy to wait a little longer for each course.

We visited Pebbles on a stormy day. Still, it was lovely to sit in the warmth and watch the choppy sea ebb and flow. The COVID safety measures in place are reassuring, and the restaurant was spotless. The staff were friendly and polite, and the food delicious. We had the Prawn & Crayfish salad and the Ale Battered Fish & Chips- both delicious and plentiful in terms of portion size. Will definitely return. Although quiet when we arrived, it soon filled up so I would advise to book. The car park quite literally on the doorstep ensures that this venue is accessible to all.

We chose to eat dinner here partly because of the view, but also because it had been recommended to us.Upon arrival we were met with a rope across what appeared to be the entrance, and a sign saying to wait. I was unsure whether this was in fact the entrance, but in due course a friendly staff member appeared, checked our reservation and showed us a table inside. The indoor section here seats 28 maximum, but the outdoor seating area is larger. Our meals were good value but, to be honest, far too large. We were both unable to manage a dessert despite the tempting-looking menu. I chose the lamb burger for a main, as this was the first place that I had ever been to that offered one. My partner's prawn cocktail starter was really the size of a main course, and so many fries came with her actual main that she was unable to eat them all.So to sum up, quality should really come before quantity!

Took my daughter for a treat before she leaves for uni. Beautiful location. Very clean and helpful staff. I ordered the fish and chips. The chips were horrible, cooked so they were dark and as if the oil needed changing. But the fish had a strange chemical/cleaning fluid taste. Sent it back and refused chips. My daughter had the Cajun chicken burger, she said it started nice but then one part very dry and over spiced so she couldn't eat it. Chips horrible. So she didn't eat it either. Only had a few bites of fish, but although not sick, I haven't felt well and I can usually eat anything without ill effects. Such a shame, beautiful location and the food presented nicely.

Had a spare hour before collecting my daughter from school the bayside cabin was closed so I took a walk down the sea front to Pebbles cafe. Thought I’d grab a bacon or sausage sandwich and a coffee to pass the time. Was told they had stopped serving breakfast. I could have had sausage egg and chips however it was completely out of the realms of all possibility’s to have had a sausage sandwich. I genuinely couldn’t believe it. They were quite happy to cook sausage but only as part of the dish with egg and chips. I don’t think I was asking for something unacceptable not like they would have had to break a law or pan for gold for me the sausages were there and I’m pretty certain they’d have had some bread lying around. Whatever happened to customer service and common sense. Would not recommend a visit if you would appreciate a friendly favour. Thanks for nothing will not be back and certainly won’t be telling anyone a good word about them.

We love Stokes Bay and visited a number of times. After lots of recommendations for others, we've attempted to visit this restaurant on several occassions and either it's too busy or closed! Thankfully, when we arrived this time at around 2.30 on a Sunday we were delighted to find lunch was still being served and the venue open until 4pm. We checked in at the bar and as we hadn't booked a table had to resort to the outside seating area which wasn't a problem at all - the weather was gorgeous - could have done with a parasol though as it really was a sun-trap! We were informed that once we'd chosen from the menu to order at the bar. The menu, albeit rather small, offered some difficult choices but eventually the 4 people in our party were decided and we ordered our meals and drinks. We had to pay on ordering as we were seated outside. We then sat back, relaxed and waited for our food to arrive - we were prepared for a lengthy wait as it was so busy. We were, however, amazed at the speed our meals arrived - and were equally amazed with the presentation and flavours. Two of our party decided upon the Swordfish - one of those was our 15 year old son who'd never had the pleasure of experiencing this fish as it's rarely on menus - he was pleasantly surprised at the flavour and would certainly have it again and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to others. One of our party opted for the battered king prawns - his comment was "Wow the flavour of those prawns is really something else" and I had the scampi - sounds boring but I just don't cook it myself at home, so when I go out, if it's on the menu I'm often tempted, however, its not uncommon for it to arrive pale and soggy or over-brown and too crispy - here it was just perfect - and the chips were delicious too! The only thing we missed and were not informed of was a daily special menu - not that we felt we could have had anything better than we had! Prices are a little steep but at the end of the day - you pay for what you get - the quality and presentation were superb and certainly can't be faulted.

We decided to go for starters and mains. With the starters we chose the haddock goujons which were huge - you had four pieces each where really you only needed two each. Luckily with the mains we only chose starter sizes of the prawn cocktail with fries - however because of the starter sizes we really struggled. The view across the Solent is remarkable, the food is excellent, truly; though let down by the bought in frozen chips-given the effort they go to in other areas. It is odd that if you dine inside, you get "Proper" condiments in wee bowls, yet if you eat outside, you get utter rubbish in plastic sachets. They also seem to have no CONCEPT of what "fully booked" means. We were told they were fully booked (though this, in reality just meant they had a linear set of chronological bookings per table) - we were able to eat lunch on a reserved table (at 12pm for a table reserved for 2pm) with no bother, Possibly the best mussels in the world - but also probably the most apathetic service on the south coast

Its a pity they use bog standard frozen chips as everything else about this place - the freshness of the seafood, the portion sizes, the view is perfect. Unfortunately the staff have no idea what "fully booked" means - as on a "fully booked" day from 12pm we were able to have lunch at a table (booked for 2pm) and be out of there by half one. The staff generally are pleasant, whilst also not seeming to give a monkeys - this restaurant has SO MUCH unrealised potential. Pebbles is right on the beach so you can eat, drink and swim in the sea. There is a car park very near and children's splash pool and play park. During summer Pebbles put on an outside live music session in the evening . It's a great place with a lovely atmosphere.

We fell upon this by mistake as we were going to stop at far end of beach. So glad we changed our mind. Lovely spot right on the front. Excellent diverse menu. We were lucky it was such a glorious day. Our party ranged from 5 to 83 and everyone was happy. Will happily return .

Looking for a quick dinner we found this spot. With an amazing view of the beach and a nice outdoor seating area this is an ideal spot for dinner watching the sun set.

Pebbles is an amazing place to enjoy well cooked tasty tapas. It's location is perfect and on a sunny day not much can beat it. There is a good selection of tapas with something on the menu for all. The service is very prompt and friendly. The view across the Solent to the IOW, tasty tapas and a chilled glass of wine...….what more can complete a gorgeous summers day. The food and drinks are all very good value and the food home cooked. If you are in the area then Pebbles is a must !

The location is superb (as is the outlook), the staff are helpful and attentive, and the food is superb, but... calling itself a "wine bar" simply isn't right, as it is more akin to a beach-front cafe - albeit a very good one - and which just also happens to sell wine. As such, and apart from the name, we loved it!

We went with another couple specifically for their fish and chips on a Friday afternoon. It only opens for a couple of hours, but is worth catching. Two of us had Cod and chips, and the other two had Prawn Tempura and chips, and all meals were excellent.

Had our wedding meal here, for 14 of our guests. We had asked the staff to set the table with the things we had given them, and they did an excellent job. They had pre poured out glasses of prosecco and juice for our arrival. Very attentive and patient waitresses. They all made our day even more special. Fantastic food, huge portions, and great wines . Thank you so much.

We ate at this restaurant twice during a recent stay in Gosport. Everything was excellent, from the very good food to the reasonably priced wines. We ate inside the first time, and outside the second time as the evening sun made it quite hot inside. The views across to the Isle of Wight are spectacular and after dinner, you can go for a nice stroll along the beach.

Another fabulous review for Pebbles from me. Had a table of 9 on a Saturday night. Beautiful sunny evening to watch through the windows. Food was GREAT, good value for money. The quality of seafood is second to none. Highly recommend!

We stopped here for lunch on Easter Sunday and sat outside in the sun. We both had the grilled sea bass with samphire and new potatoes which we both said was absolutely delicious. We will definitely be eating here again soon.

Lovely destination with friendly staff. Independent and somewhere to pop into when walking along the coast. Went into the cafe instead of the restaurant and got a few hot drinks and sat outside on the benches. Affordably priced with a warming and welcoming atmosphere inside. Family friendly and would return soon.

It was a foggy February evening when I visited this little beachsude restaurant with four friends. Although the menu is quite short, there was a good selection of dishes to choose from, plus a small specials board. We debated whether to go for starters and mains, or mains and dessert, opting for the first choice. This a bit of an error, as the portions were very generous! My mushrooms on toast was delicious, my king prawns for main course were possibly the largest I've had for so long and very moreish. Needless to say we were all beaten and couldn't finish our mains, so dessert was out of the question. We are already planning our next visit in the summer, so we can enjoy the seafront view, but next time we will remember how we struggled to cope with the large plates!

Looking for a nice place to have a romantic Valentine's dinner, I was able to book a table for two at Pebbles Fish and Wine Bar, at the Stokes Bay sea front. They had an attractive Valentine's menu with enough choice for me as a flexitarian and my wife, a pescetarian.

Was dragged here somewhat reluctantly to have lunch with my wife and in-laws as I had dim distant recollections of the place that were less than positive. Was I ever wrong. Friendly greeting followed by excellent service thought. We shared a couple of starters which were good, but the star of the show were the main courses. I had sea bass and my wife had plaice. Both came on a bed of samphire (not something one sees every day) and new potatoes. Both were simply superb and the portions were more than generous to the point where dessert was a bridge too far. I have to say that I was blown away by the overall experience. Oh, and it's very reasonably priced also!

What a lovely little restaurant with beautiful views of the beach - shame it was raining by the time we had eaten . The food was freshly cooked & delicious with very generous portions - wish I had not ordered jumbo prawns to start as the sea bass fillets were very filling

I really enjoyed the food I had here. The battered king prawns with chilli sauce for my starter REALLY had a beautiful thin crispy tasty well-cooked batter and the sea bass with samphire was stunning. Included with the food and a glass of wine for which the bill was not far off £30, was a stunning view over to the Isle of Wight. I was warned as I went in that there was no table service if you sat outside and as it was full inside, outside was the only option. They REALLY mean NO table service. Apart from plonking the food on the table in front of the book I was reading. They could have advised me to pick up a knife and fork/condiments etc., as I went to table after paying as I ordered ( you also have to leave the table you have picked to go and order. They were unsympathetic that I was alone and could lose the table if I left it to go to order and pay!) For a lone diner like myself, this means leaving your food and non-valuable belongings at table and going to get your knife and fork, otherwise you are eating with your fingers. I think this is very poor - I felt sorry for the 2 girls serving as there appeared to be no one else BUT come on girls, a knife and fork ? Food of this standard and price - well if was £10 cod and chips you could fit in a knife and fork!! Others also went and found their own utensils etc.,Management may like to reconsider this approach, have adequate staff levels and teach the staff to offer guests what they need to eat. No service, no tip. But thank you to the chef. You were brilliant.

Been going to the cafe that is attached to restaurant for many years obviously there is a high turnover of staff as the new staff were either still in recovery mode from New Year or had personality bypasses, the menu choices have been reduced then what we ended up having to order turned up cold with the sandwiches missing most of the filling.

Visited on a cold, wet Tuesday lunchtime with my wife and although we were the first guests the restaurant quickly got busy. A number of tables had been reserved. We were welcomed by friendly staff and the service remained friendly and attentive throughout. The restaurant is fairly small, giving every table a view out over the beach and busy Solent to the Isle of Wight so there is always something to watch!

We went to Pebbles on a horribly wet and windy night and we were pleasantly surprised that it was warm and cosy inside despite being right on the beach. The food portions at Pebbles are very generous but we felt that if a little bit more care and attention had been taken then it could have made a huge difference. The starters we had were all good, great homemade Thai fishcakes and nice prawn and crayfish cocktail. No bread came with the starters so we paid (£4!) for a bread basket which, when it arrived, was stale. The Thai prawn curry main was really good but had been put into a very cold dish to serve it so it was warm at best rather than hot. Conversely the fish pie dishes were so hot that the pie couldn't be eaten for quite some time whilst it cooled down! The atmosphere is nice, it wasn't terribly busy probably because of the weather, and the service was fine - all very pleasant but not exceptional.

We have been to Pebbles in the past (although not since last year) and always enjoyed our visits. This time we were sadly disappointed. The service was good, the staff cheerful and the wine was nice but the food was sadly disappointing . The chips were underdone, the chicken strips and fish cakes were fried to a deep unappealing brown ,the salmon was pleasant but it’s accompanying couscous was tasteless. We twice spoke to the waiting staff who said they would pass the comments back but did nothing else to address our concerns . We will go back to Pebbles for a glass of wine, or is lovely to sit outside in the summer but I can not recommend it for food .
