Pavarotti's in Isle of Wight

We visited here after walking out of a local pub, where we were made to feel very unwelcome. From walking into Pavarottis, we were treated brilliantly and made to feel so welcome. The owner was so pleasant and friendly and the restaurant just had a really nice atmosphere. The menu choices catered to all tastes, and we really were spoilt for choice. The prices here were excellent on all choices. The food was cooked to perfection - we all enjoyed our mains - and decided to have dessert too - again, an excellent choice and beautifully presented. Would recommend it to anyone and would give it more stars if I could.

My wife Kathryn and I visited Pavarotti restaurant on a stormy evening in March when we were on a short break to Shanklin. We were given a warm welcome by the lady owner and told to choose our own table as there weren’t many diners in that evening. We had both looked at the menu on line and so we knew what we wanted to order. For drinks we had a bottle of the house red at £18 which was a decent Shiraz. For starters I had the Spicy mussel stew and Kathryn had the deep fried Squid. Both were good portions served quickly, there was an excellent flavour to the “stew” and the mussels were sweet and plentiful. The squid was tender in a light batter with dips of sweet chilli and mayonnaise. We both ordered the Lobster and Crab Tortellini with Prawns for our main and wow we were not disappointed. Fresh Tortellini filled with a mixture of crab and lobster surrounded by big juicy prawns in a sauce to die for. We were too full for a dessert but the desert menu board looked very tempting. By the time we had finished all the other diners had left and we still had 15 minutes to wait for our taxi. The owner was lovely and told us we could wait in the restaurant for as long as it took for the taxi to arrive. The owner gave us a big hug and wished us a safe journey back to Yorkshire the next day. Overall we rated the meal, the service and the very warm welcome as one of if not the best Italian meals we have ever had.

Lovely restaurant, lovely owners and amazing food. If you are ever in Shanklin you must give this place a try, you won't be disappointed. The staff go out of their way to please and are so friendly. I will definitely be going again soon!

Oh my word, what a find! This restaurant is amazing. The food was exceptional, great range of choices and everything we had was absolutely delicious. Service was great, the welcome was wonderfully warm and friendly. I so wish I lived closer and could visit more regularly. Definitely visit if you are in Shanklin.

Wow what a find ! The staff made you feel very relaxed and the food was amazing! This is the best Italian restaurant I have been to for a long time . Also it’s very good value for money. Would definitely recommend.

Oooooh, delicious! Authentic, fantastic menu, great service, delicious food and very reasonably priced. We really enjoyed a meal here last weekend and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for great food in the Shanklin area. One of the nicest Italian restaurants we've ever been to!

We visited on their first night of 2024, we weren't disappointed we had heard lots of good things about Paverottis. We both ordered a starter which consisted of Cheesy Garlic Bread to share which was very nice (Sorry our Italian isn't very good!) And for mains I had the Quattro Formagio and my partner had Carbonara both were equally presented lovely and tasted even better. Great hospitality the owners put in alot to make it feel like you've been transported back to Italy! We loved it and will be back again soon. Very highly recommended if you visit Shanklin.

Despite visiting the Island since I was 3 (nor 70) i had never been in Pavarotti's What have i been missing it was marvellous I cant wait for my next holiday to visit again

We arrived on a Saturday night on off chance of a table as we were staying near by and they found a spot for us. From reading reviews I thought it may be too expensive but found it really good value and generous kids meal portions. Family run and unique, maybe not for everyone who likes a prezzo but we enjoyed our visit.

Lovely authentic Italian restaurant! Food was superb and they catered well for all ages and were very welcoming! Service was quick and the food was hot and delicious. We had a really lovely evening here!

We booked a table for dinner as it was recommeded The food and service were very good but the only critisism is that the tables are very close together and when it gets busy it was quite noisy

Lovely freshly made food, the service was the spot on.. We visited on a Tuesday and it was fully booked so I would advise pre booking. No beer on draught which was a shame but apart from that it is well worth a visit.

We enjoyed our first visit to this authentic Italian restaurant in Shanklin. It has a good atmosphere and the food is generous and wholesome. We rebooked for two days hence.

My husband and I do not eat pasta, not a problem so much to choose from on the menu and all freshly cooked. It was nice to have fresh cooked vegetables and not just fries. We ate here twice in our weeks stay

Had a great meal here, it is a great little Italian restaurant. The owner and staff are great and the food delicious. This place is a must to visit when on the Isle of Wight.

Pre theatre or for any excuse, this little restaurant is huge on real Italian hospitality. A very wide menu and beware, some starters are enough for two! On my next visit I will stick to mains and hope to be able to taste some lovely desserts. The house wine is very pleasant indeed and is it any surprise that booking early is essential always.

Buyer beware , VAT is not included in the menu and is added at the end which is ok if you live in the USA , not UK so the prices are understated . The food was ok but the surprise on the VAT was not nice

This is our go to restaurant for family celebrations. The food is always excellent. Have been coming here for over 20 years and still love it.

Booked on here although some reviews weren't good. Turns out they are right. How this place is still open is beyond me. The lady who runs/manages at night is very very rude and arrogant, I felt so sorry for the young staff she just absolutely demands everything from them.. our food was just ok, we only chose a main and was initially going to have dessert but after the dry pizza and her attitude we couldn't wait to leave. On paying our bill I asked a member of staff if they received the tip of we left on on card and they replied no so I gave them a cash tip this wasn't for the quality of food etc but for the fact they have to work under her. Avoid at all cost but of you do go please tip the staff in cash then she doesn't pocket that as well

Great food, great service what more do you want.Booking essential, but if your lucky you might get in if you smile nicely

Special Sardinian style pizza ... Sorry no photo I have eaten it too fast 🤣 Great selection of wines as well and really friendly onwer :) We have always eaten dinner here for all our stay :)

The food at Pavarotti never lets you down. Authentic Italian, warm and friendly, what more could you ask for when going out for a meal. Trio of fish to start then Seabass, which was fantastic. Served with individual potatoes and vegetables, yum. We will always visit Pavarotti when in Shanklin. Definitely book for weekends and holidays as you don’t want to be turned away.

We ate there last night.The welcome was warm and the place is laid our really well.The menu is very extensive with plenty of choices.The service was really good without being pushy.The food was fantastic and the portions were huge.We couldn’t find room for a desert.We wouldn’t hesitate to return there.

The food was excellent and lost nothing in being a takeaway. We also had starters and it made New Year’s Eve into a memorable occasion at a time of the virus.

Warm and friendly with wonderful food. Great portion sizes and choice from a large menu. Loved our evening, we were so well looked after, the host, though I dont know her name was fun and kind. Lovely people. Would highly recommend and will return for definite.

Lovely family run business and even better food! First time visiting Pavarottis, however many recommended the Italian restaurant for there outstanding quality of food and they didn’t disappoint! Portion sizes were so big I even had some left to take away. Quick service and hot food.

The food is superb. The staff are brilliant. But it was far too crowded during covid times. The people on the table beside you feel like they are with you. When we were there a table had to be moved outside so that a man in a wheelchair could get out of the restaurant. Dread to think what might have happened if there had been a fire. Remove a few of the tables and it would be perfect!

Booking a table at Pavarotti’s is essential as this restaurant in Shanklin Old Village is very popular with Islanders and tourists alike. The staff are very friendly and with plenty of character and the food range and quality is excellent. The portions are huge and everything is very well prepared and presented. We had the meat platter as a sharing starter, then followed by tagliatelle carbonara and pork for main course. We couldn’t manage a dessert as we were so full from the meal! It was all very reasonably priced too, I would definitely recommend the place if you like a traditional Italian restaurant and we would definitely return.

Managed to get a table here when we were staying nearby. Top quality food. Great service and huge portions! No space for dessert but very happy family and kids! Would definitely recommend it to anyone.

A very traditional style Italian restaurant with a "momma" in charge who was very welcoming, efficient and helpful. As the menu included a lot of fresh fish and seafood dishes, we went for these for our main. All the food was delicious, with good portion sizes.

The food, owners and staff here are exceptional. Very large portions but absolutely delicious. Make sure you book though as it gets very busy

As soon as I walked in a young gentlemen greeted me with great excitement! I was soon seated at a table with my doting wife. We ordered a calamari starter and it was cooked to perfection. The squids death was not in vain. Next we had the oyster pizza and it tasted so good I would have eaten the shell if I could have. For dessert we ordered tiramisu and its the only one which hasnt given me diarrhea so please send me the recipe! Overall I had a great experience at Pavarottis would recommend to all my friends.

If I could leave a 10 star rating I would. Lovely restaurant!! Service from the young lad with brown hair was brilliant, he is a lovely chap. Food was 10/10, just like being in a mini Italy but on the Isle of Wight!!!

Had a really good meat at Pavarotti’s. It’s family run and it shows. They were very welcoming, and the food was excellent - well cooked and tasty. We’ll be going back - in fact we’ve booked to go with our family in a few days.

Excellent Italian restaurant. Loved it. Service was great, food excellent. Extensive menu. Tables are crammed into a small restaurant but this gives the place atmosphere.

We come as a group of six to golf on the Isle of Wight every year and we always book a meal at Pavarottis and always had good service. The food has always been excellent so much so we booked again for the following evening. The team are always attentive, professional and welcoming, so thank you all for looking after us.

I celebrated my birthday here. The food was absolutely delicious. Well cooked, tasty, Italian food. Friendly helpful staff. It was packed, as it always is, and how they do this night after night I do not know. The only criticism is that the tables are really close together, so much so that the staff can barely squeeze between them. But worth it fo the food!

This is an Italian restaurant in true Italian style. The momma is welcoming and fun. The atmosphere great. The food choice enormous and plentiful. As people have said the seats are a little close, but would I go back, most definitely. What a little gem of a place but don’t forget to book in advance.

Fabulous atmosphere, the staff friendly and welcoming.The food absolutely delicious. I had Tagliatelle Pescatore which was the best I have ever tasted, squid, mussels, cockles and prawn in a beautiful sauce.I recommend you try here, but you will need to book a table as it is very popular.

This was our second visit to Pavarotti's. The food is good value for money at this truly authentic slightly Anglicised Italian Restaurant. The seating is snug, the service friendly and efficient.

We visited as a group of friends which included a 6 month old. The owner was extremely welcoming and we instantly felt like locals. The food was amazing from start to finish and we were even allowed to alter some dishes to cater for some of us who are vegan. Pavarotti’s is an authentic Italian experience. We’ll definitely come here again when visiting Isle of Wight. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Went to this restaurant on a recent visit to Shanklin ,glad we booked in advance as not a table to be had and understand why as great service and lovely food at very reasonable costs .Was a very extensive choice on the menu and the portions were really good ,really nice environment as well .

A very popular restaurant and for good reason. The service is friendly and prompt. The menu is quite extensive, the food is nicely cooked, well presented, and servings are generous. Booking seems to be essential (even in October!). Good choice of moderately priced wines.

We are 4 people who have dined in many Italian restaurants home and abroad , this was by far the worst . Starters whitebait and calamari obviously frozen and tough to chew . Lamb shank swimming in a so called sauce allegedly with cous cous but was some kind of pasta

Very friendly, cheerful Italian restaurant. Some of the best Italian food we have eaten in UK. We also liked the house wine which was a real star. We are obviously not alone because it was packed. Well worth a visit but you must book.

Very busy. You have to book to have a chance of getting in. First visit on a Saturday. We both really liked the atmosphere, food (which came in incredibly big portions), wine and lively, friendly staff. Had such a good time we sought to book again during our short stay in Shanklin and they managed to fit us in on Monday night. The food portions seemed even bigger! Completely recommend and I speak as a person who usually prefers pubs to restaurants.

They seem to try and run two sittings and it’s very busy, you definitely need to book I would say, given these Covid times the tables were a little too close together but the food and hospitality were very good.

Last night on the island and we visited somewhere else we had never eaten. Let me just say that if spacious relaxed dining is your thing then maybe Pavarotti’s is not for you. If you are still a “social distancer” then you could get nervy, although strictly speaking they are fully complying with guidelines.However, if you want plenty of good authentic Italian cooking served up in a friendly atmosphere with all the noise and bustle that comes with it then this place is for you.It is a relatively small place and a large group dominated the room and created a slight delay in the food preparation which proves that all is freshly made. Our starters did take maybe 30 minutes to arrive but when they did were great….and big. The mains were maybe served too close to clearing the starter plates but that is the only criticism I can make. My pork fillets with pancetta in a red wine sauce were huge but there was absolutely no way I intended to leave any. The Wife’s sea bass was equally as good. Clearing the entire lot including the potatoes and veg is difficult if not impossible !.Throughout the entire meal, the amazing owner Lily drifted around the dining area speaking to customers increasing the atmosphere even more. I get the feeling that she can be a “proper” Italian momma when she wants to with a rod of iron but when she turns on the charm, Bella bella.Great meal. Really don’t know how we made it this far without visiting before.

My hubby and I were so lucky to get a 5pm sitting in this restaurant last night! If you haven't booked it's now booked up until Friday, so to be sure to get in; you really need to book! The food was excellent, the atmosphere was really friendly and relaxed. The staff were excellent and the price was reasonable. Best restaurant we have eaten in since arriving in the IOW 3 days ago.

Excellent Italian food and a wonderful bustling, noisy atmosphere - just what you expect from an Italian restaurant on a Saturday night! Not the place to go for a romantic tryst, but if you want a fun night out with great food & wine you couldn't do better.

Having visited Italy in the past this place has the same amazing authentic Italian food. Thin wonderful pizzas and homemade pasta and melt in the mouth tiramisu. So good we are going back tomorrow. Prices were reasonable too. Definitely worth a visit.

We had a lovely time here, the owner lily made the night she was very funny and made us very welcome, food & service was very good. A very popular restaurant and lots of returning customers.

We came here recommended from our bed and breakfast as they have sent many guests here all coming back with pleasant comments, great atmosphere with everyone , foods highest standard than many other Italian restaurants we have been in all over southern England... Definitely would recommend to anyone.

worst meal out in decades. two mains left inedible and italian desert a joke.when booking we were greeted by an individual with stains on his shirt, dirty trousers etc so should have seen the warning signs as he was waiting table. my starter of whitebait had been refried in breadcrumbs, probably last year. the ladyat front of house was fabulous and wine was good. End of anything good. my mains was supposed to be gnocchi but was pasta in a bland sauce. my husband ordered fregola with prawns in a white sauce but what he got was a bowl of water with prawns and anaemic floating "pasta"! we had fregola at The Hut and it was little balls of pasta dry with fish and a sauce and it popped in your mouth as you ate it. Neither of us could eat the dishes. Finally desert was affogato, a simple dish of ice cream with hot espresso that sizzles with taste as the ice cream melts not here the ice cream had been frozen solid and the "coffee" was Luke warm making it inedible How this has got any good reviews is beyond me

We were really looking forward to this meal having read some excellent reviews and we were looking for a top class Italian for our wedding anniversary. I think our expectations were a little high. I had lamb with cuscus which was nice but not the best. Restaurant was very busy and felt a little cramped. We would go back but I think a rating of between 3 and 4 would sum up our experience. It is great that many other rate there experience higher.

Really great little restaurant, everyone packed in, proper Italian food, friendly staff - everything well made and freshly prepared.

We really looked forward to dining here, we were greeted at the door by the lovely owner , nice romantic table by the window to people watch.We ordered fresh Italian style pizzas and a starter which was so tasty!The only negatives which stop us giving it a 5 star was the cleanliness of the restaurant and the expensive drinks.Highly recommend if you like authentic Italian food.

We had a lovely meal here on the last night of our cycling tour. The food was exceptional, service the same. The place was buzzing, glad we booked well in advance.

Highly recommended this restaurant for years to friends and family that visit the Isle of Wight, Lilly is a star, with her friendly warm welcoming front of house staff let alone the food... We gained a taste for italian food since and been coming back majority of our nights stay every year for 16years now in their lovely quiet charactistic town they call home. Cannot wait till next year see you then Lily and the team.

A lovely authentic Italian restaurant in the heart of Shanklin Old village.Our food was cooked to perfection. We both had one of the Chicken dishes which came with a choice of Salad & chips or fresh vegetables & potatoes. The menu is one of the largest I’ve seen with Pizzas, pastas, fish & various meats all cooked fresh. The hardest choice is deciding what to eat. The waiting staff all worked hard to provide a great service with Lily the owner keeping a watchful eye on them. If you can get a table you will not be disappointed.

We visited Pavarotti's Saturday 14th August for my husband's special birthday and Lillie and her staff made it wonderful!!The food, wine and service were exceptional and the atmosphere was just like being in the heart of Italy!!Thank you for one of the very best nights, so good we booked again!!Once again thank you Lilliexx

Visited twice during our stay and on both occasions the food was great whether it was Seafood,Pasta,Steak or Lamb, great choice of wines and desserts.I must applaud the team at Pavarottis they created a great atmosphere on both occasions

After seeing this place going through Shanklin, me and my Italian wife decided to try this place for a take away. Firstly, the hosts were nice and welcoming people. We ordered 2 pizzas and a calamari starter. The calamari was ok, basic calamari, nothing special. The pizzas however, were very disappointing. No real flavour in the sauce, flavourless dough. One of the pizzas we ordered, "Calabrese", had no representation of the region whatsoever. I was expecting heat, fire, spicy meats, what we received was some toned down pepperoni. I wouldn't recommend this place. It looks like they do good business but from an actual Italian, look for somewhere else if you want a genuine taste of Italy.

We visited Pavarotti’s twice with the family. They offer an extensive menu ,the service was excellent and friendly . The food was very well cooked and the portions were huge. Plenty of choice on the wine list. We all enjoyed Pavarotti’s and would definitely Recommend a visit. Pre book as they are very popular.

We returned to this restaurant having been a few years ago - it’s a family, traditional style Italian, right opposite Shanklin Chine. It’s quite small & the tables are quite tightly packed (probably my only complaint)! Service is friendly and efficient.The food is excellent - garlic bread, pizza style and then we all had pasta - really delicious. Fantastic side salad too. Good portions and all freshly cooked. Desserts looked great but we were too full to try them!It’s very busy - they do take out pizza too - we booked and glad we did as very popular & a steady stream of walk ins being told “fully booked”.

Luckily managed to book before we went on holiday - so popular, and can see why. Great atmosphere, very attentive service, super food at a good price. They even let my grandchildren feed the fish. So family friendly.

I have had pizza all over the world and this is a solid 9.4/10. Outstanding fresh food and well worth the price.

We recently ate here on two evenings during our stay in Shanklin. We cannot rate it highly enough. We needed to book as it is so very popular. Everything was top class, friendly, food very tasty and staff attentive. We can recommend the liquers coffees!!! Thank you Pavarotti's.

We booked a few weeks in advance, glad we did as this restaurant was buzzing, extremely popular in the old town of Shanklin opposite the Chine top entrance. Food was authentic - my son had the sea bass and said it was the best fish he has had ever, and one of our daughters had teh Carbonara - which she rated highly - the rest of us had pizza and the pizza base was amazing.... great place to eat

We ate here on a Tuesday night and it was fairly busy on arrival even at 5.30. All our food was nice and well cooked. Staff were friendly and attentive. Advisable to book as it's not the biggest place and it does get busy in fact our waitress said they were booked up until September. Definitely worth a visit if you can get a table.

Recommended by family member who had visited previously - and they were right. Food well prepared and was quite delicious. Amazing such quality came from such a tiny we kitchen.

Pavarotti's has a small intimate feel, but even in covid times it didn't feel unsafe. The staff were great and the food was absolutely excellent,The deserts were just as good, and were very reasonably priced.The only disappointment was that it was fully booked when we tried to go back later in our holiday.

On holiday and had heard good things about Pavarrotis Italian. Had not got myself organised enough to book well in advance (which I would recommend) but called on a Monday afternoon to see if we could be squeezed in that evening. We were lucky and the amazing Lily let us have a table.Others that evening did not have the same luck and we could put later that it was fully booked all week.The food and bustle of the place was exactly what my wife and I like in a rustic traditional Italian.The food choice was fantastic and the quality was excellent. Also incredibly good value as well.Definitely will go again but will make sure I book well in advance. Thanks for a lovely evening Lilly.

We enjoyed a fantastic meal here last week .. it was absolutely packed (if you hadnt booked they had no walk ins available) and it was very busy and yet still remained friendly and welcoming. The food was excellent , the service was efficient without feeling rushed and all the rules re Covid etc were being followed which was nice to see. The food isn't fancy but it is excellent and authentic. We had starters, mains, desserts and a bottle of wine and thought that for around £80 it was excellent value. Recommended.

Genuine Italian restaurant which also does fish dishes, but not on a Monday evening unfortunately. We enjoyed the pizzas however and the service was quick. Tried to book again for another evening but they were fully booked which is a good sign, although it is a small restaurant.

Very busy restaurant; usually a good sign. Greeting and table reinforced the impression. Service prompt and very pleasant.We came back for a second visit which in itself is the best recommendation. Why only 4/5? The courses were all in large portions but lacked the final taste test. As a generalisation the food was over salted: I prefer to have a choice and salt according to taste.However, my wife and I found it to be a pleasing choice overall - this is Shanklin, not London.

Another recommendation, booked on Sunday for the following Friday, the earliest they could give us a table. Food was excellent. Unfortunately the waitress accidentally knocked a glass of wine over me. Totall accident and we were all concerned for the young lady who was in tears. No-one died!!! The restaurant gave us another bottle of wine on the house, which was very welcome as we'd almost finished the first one! Recommended but the social distancing could be better.

Would not go again. Very cramped. The huge plates take up all the table space. Add the salad, chips, drinks, etc. It's like a juggling act. Vinegar bottle had to go on the floor! Food & tomato sauce were pretty bland overall. Portions far too big. Sorry, not for me & I will not be returning.

First time at Pavaroti's. Bumped into this place whilst visiting and booked a table for the following eve. From ringing the booking through, I knew this place would be authentic from the owners voice! Lovely Italian lady took our booking and from aricing the buzz ans smell from the kitchen was thoroughly authentic. Lovely ambiance, trinkety and homely! Food amazing kalzone and the Sea bas for main and the starters equally delicious. Again Lilley (front of house) - very charismatic and friendly! Very busy, fully booked. Highly recommended, book in advance for sure! 10/10. This will be our go when we return in the autumn!

We had a really great meal - it did not disappoint. The food, the atmosphere, the staff - it all met expectations, even in this COVID time. Nothing was a drama. One tip - make sure you book.

Delicious food that I cannot fault in anyway. Service was quick and the place seemed popular. Only downside was as it is a very small restaurant, it is quite claustrophobic with the screens up and tables still seem very close together, with hardly any room for passing waiting staff.

We booked well in advance and were part of two separate groups of 4 people under Covid guidelines.We had a little wait outside for our table to be organised being a busy day and were shown to our table where I personally felt somewhat constricted by the plastic dividers and restricted space but at 6 foot plus this is not that unusual.There was a good atmosphere in the restaurant which appeared to be full and the food was excellent in quality.Portions were large and service was very good with the wonderful Italian(?) lady in charge overseeing everything magnificently.In the end we were all very happy with our meals and the experience.You definitely need to book for this restaurant.

We booked in for a meal 1 week in advance to ensure we could get in. We were checked in and shown to our table. The restaurant is very cosy and quite compact but they did their best to comply to social distancing. The table was sanitised before we sat down and the eating implements arrived in a sealed container and we laid the table ourselves, We started with the mixed platter of cheese and meats followed by pork fillets wrapped in pancetta. The food was very good and reasonably priced. They had a good selection of wine. The owner who is from Sardinia was very entertaining. All in all a good experience.

Hard to find somewhere open on a Monday night and Pavarotti's is a gem. Extensive menu and portions are generous. There is a real buzz to the place and the hard working team deliver great service with a smile. Thank you.

Very busy restaurant but we felt COVID safe and although we had to wait for our table to be vacated we were well looked after. The food was very good but huge portions. We had a wonderful evening.

Our favourite restaurant in Shanklin old village. Lovely atmosphere, great service, Good food & drink , booking is essential if you want to eat before 9pm . We had calamari which was a little rubbery the rest. Of our meal was wonderful. Olives and bread, my wife had Swordfish for the first time it was delicious. We will be back.

We have been there three times now, and we still haven't tried half of the things we would like to try there. It is just a dream menu, which, to me, represents the best of Italian cuisine.The grilled fish platter, a "medley" of three types of fish, plus prawns, is particularly spectacular. The portions are generously sized: make sure to build up a proper hunger before going there. Can't wait to get back there.

Went 2 nights running as food was so good. Lovely atmosphere great service and food was fantasticoHugh portion of lamb rump served with a bowl of veg and pots and lovely pizza. Only criticism would be no tiramsu for dessert on either dayFirst italian i have ever been whom dont serve this classic dessert.
