We had food booked for an event in July and we paid a deposit for it and despite numerous attempts to contact the restaurant, they haven't responded to us. So disappointing.

Looks lovely from the outside, the lady serving was also really lovely.Unfortunately the inside smells quite greasey, and didn’t really match the look from the outside, the food was okay however the eggs benedict wasn’t great, I’m unsure what sauce was on the eggs but it definitely wasn’t a traditional hollandaise sauce, it was very pale and had bits in it.I’d order the sandwiches again but definitely not the eggs benedict

What an absloutle disappointment. Ive had 2 bad experiences and thought 3rd time lucky, infact it was worse the 3rd time to the first. What is promised on groupon is not what they offer in the restaurant. The chicken came out cold as if its been in the fridge. The mushroom starter was as if it came out a microwave. I messaged the owner the following day in hopes something could have been done. Instead i was ignored. Sont waste your time dont go.

Visited with two friends for lunch. I'm usually quite an easy going person but am picky about hygiene. . First impression was that menus were old and grubby. Next thing that the two tables pushed together had food between them. Next thing was that milk for tea was in a little bottle that was dirty inside and had only been rinsed out rather than washed. Had mushrooms on toast (being a non meat eater) . Felt I needed a little salt but the grinder was empty. Then found that I was chewing on a piece of caramelised steak. The mushrooms had obviously been cooked in the same pan as steak. I was thinking of bringing my daughter here but I feel that they are lazy and need to have more pride in their place, which could be lovely.

Unfortunately, I have had similar dealings with Paul’s Kitchen like many other unsatisfied customers on here. They are uncontactable through phone and hardly ever open. I tried to book in for afternoon teas throughout ALL of August to redeem my gift voucher. Finally, booked in for 15/10/19 @ 1 and they were still not open, despite the reservation. Clearly, they don’t care about their customers!! My aim is to get them taken off of group on so they can’t con anymore people. Very frustrating and disappointing.

After 2 weeks of constant promises and guarantees, finally got my money back, but this was AFTER raising a claim with the Small Claims Court and showing them the proof of the claim. Didn’t answer any of my calls, left numerous messages and only communicated via email. Absolutely shocking. Never going there again to eat, please avoid. Only reason I got was “they turned up at the wrong venue”. Even if they did turn up to the wrong venue, they had our contact details, yet they still didn’t answer any of our calls. I saw Paul's Kitchen on Facebook the photos looked amazing, I purchased a Groupon for afternoon tea for four with the hope of taking my mum for a special birthday treat. These hopes were quickly dashed when we arrived at Paul's Kitchen. The decoration downstairs is lovely but it was not clean. The bathroom is off the kitchen which is accessed by a dirty staircase. When walking though the kitchen you can not help but notice how very untidy it is. The bathroom door was hard to close and lock. The bathroom was FILTHY! There is absolutely no way it had been cleaned recently! To have your premises clean and tidy is a basic requirement, the state of the place is not on!When the afternoon tea arrived to say we were disappointed is a complete understatement. The sandwiches consisted of cheap white bread with next to no filling. What was there was extremely poor quality and cheap ingredients (possibly the thinnest ham and most tasteless cheese I have ever had the misfortune of trying). The cakes were obviously shop brought, the most noticeable of which was a cheap chocolate Swiss roll. Whilst shopping later that day I found "your" frangipane tarts for sale in a local shop for the grand total of £1.00.The tea was served in one pot between four which was cracked and stained around the spout. The scones, jam, cream, and alcoholic drinks were fine.To add insult to injury we were charged £20.00 for having afternoon tea at the weekend, taking our grand total to £65.00. This means you only save £5.00 on the Groupon deal. All in all we felt completely ripped off by Paul's Kitchen, to be charged so much money for such poor quality food in a dirty restaurant is completely ludicrous! This was quite possibly the worst afternoon tea I have ever had. If you had a fiver and a local shop you could probably do a better job than Paul's Kitchen. Disgusted.

I purchased the afternoon tea with Prosecco as a gift for my mothers birthday from Groupon for £45. The furniture is tightly packed and the place is generally quite dirty. We were particularly disappointed to have dry sandwiches with limited and basic fillings, shop bought cake and poor quality tea. The toilet was very dirty as was the kitchen next to it. To add insult to injury, there seems to be a £5 surplus charge for having an afternoon tea on the weekend. The total cost was £65 which means we had only saved £5 by booking through Groupon. The cost was utterly ridiculous for what we received. Sorely disappointed. Having sifted through a few more reviews it seems that others have already mentioned these issues but little has been done to rectify them.

All dishes were a delight to look at. Liked the “recycle” approach and the nice little touches such as the bill in a shot glass.Couldn’t understand the mixed reviews based on this visit. I have wanted to try this cafe/bistro for a long time after hearing great things about the food. Well a mixed review from me. Lovely and cosy place. We were given the menus and had decided what we wanted within minutes but our server took quite a while to take our orders as he was preoccupied with preparing drinks for the Spanish themed evening. Anyway we chose the vegetable platter with the bread basket and really enjoyed the starter. However for the main course I chose macaroni cheese, hmm a tad disappointed, very creamy without a great deal of cheese in the 'Mac n cheese', side salad with hard avocado, a few rocket leaves but couldn't locate the pine nuts as stated in the menu. My husband had the tapas and he was underwhelmed with the lack of flavour. We were fairly disappointed and found the mains to be overpriced considering the lack of flavour. First visit to Paul’s Kitchen and was disappointed. It got off to a bad start when my friend was virtually barked at for daring to have a buggy with her. Chose chicken parfait with onion marmalade, we’ve run out of onion marmalade, okay I’ll have it without. They must have run out of the advertised rocket and pine nut salad too because I got undressed mixed leaves from a supermarket bag. The parfait itself was a laughably tiny portion, barely 2 tbsp. My friend had duck pancakes. Her cucumber batons were semi-frozen and halfway through she spat out a bone from her meat. We would have complained, but the waitress was scary. The chips were nice (and thank goodness we had ordered them) and we weren’t rushed out at the end, but I see no reason to go back.

She received two barely toasted slices of white bread (halved) and half an unseasoned avocado, sliced and littered around her plate. She had to pay £7.50 for that absolute disaster of a breakfast, and when she asked for more avocado she was told it would be chargeable. At somewhere like Kai you are charged the same for more avocado than you can possibly eat, well seasoned and well presented. Not sure why the portions were so stingy.Another friend's Eggs Florentine was tasteless and exceedingly average. Also, the toilet is in the Kitchen?????? We all got settled and then she came over and told us where the menus were and asked if we would like any drinks. When she had done this she took our order we had a mix of meals and one of my friends wasn’t feeling so great so asked if she could have just 1 egg on a piece of toast which isn’t on the menu but was no trouble at all.Well when the food came down what can I say it was beautiful presentation and looked so appealing. Also it doesn’t state this in the fine print on the groupon so you are not aware when purchasing, only when making a booking. When I questioned the lack of this detail in their fine print their response was “well that’s what it is and it won’t change!” All in all turned out to be a rather expensive afternoon tea and no different to the ones at maybe Drucquers which are a lot cheaper!

Looks lovely from the outside and just a lovely in. Great bistro style restaurant with a welcoming atmosphere. Four of us went and the food was delicious and good size portions. The waitress was great, smiling and friendly and worked so hard making sure everything was okay. Definitely be back and would highly recommend it.

We read the bad reviews and thought ‘how bad could it be’! After waiting for two hours, our waitress brought over dishes that we hadn’t ordered and informed us that they didn’t have the meals we had wanted. The staff were dour and unwelcoming; the chairs uncomfortable; the toilet is in dire need of a clean and is located in the kitchen. Would avoid at all costs.

Where do I start?! Claire and her team made our day one to remember for nothing but positive reasons. The tastings were fun. The standard of Claire’s organisational skills were top class. She left us in no doubt the day would run smoothly on their side. The day arrived and they were on time and very confident. The team of 4 were so friendly, they felt more like wedding guests as caterers. They were warm, friendly and charismatic. Yet they kept distance enough to not overstep the mark. The food was delicious and presented on boards and slates which raised the feeling from catered to crafted. We also asked the team to stock and man the bar, keep drinks cold and topped up and to present evening food prepared by a local takeaway. All the team performed these tasks with ease. All in all, the confidence Claire and her team gave us on our wedding day, allowed us to enjoy the day and not worry about a thing. That is priceless in its self.We recommend you go to Paul’s Kitchen, taste the food and talk to the team. Professional and caring. 100% what we wanted. Thank you so much!

Came here for brunch. Nice little restaurant with friendly staff. The service was good - the food served hot and seasoned well. The only thing that put me off slightly was that the toilet was up a narrow stairs and right by the food prep area

Visited this place for my mums bday using a groupon voucher for gin and afternoon tea. All the cakes were shop brought which was disappointing and cut in half to be shared between two. On top of this the toilet area upstairs where you have to walk through the kitchen to get to it didn’t look very hygienic. The chef had his keys just plonked on the food prep area and the toilet needed a good clean! The only good thing was the service from the lady working in there and the gin. Definitely not worth the money for afternoon tea though. The downstairs decor is all for show and doesn’t match with the state of the upstairs area. If the place wants to improve then make sure the toilet and kitchen area is spotless! And then and only then start to make homemade cakes!

I purchased a groupon voucher for afternoon tea for 4 people at Paul's Kitchen, I had heard some amazing reviews about this place so was really looking forward to going.I arrived earlier than my 3 guests and was greeted by nobody, I think a delivery had arrived but it was lunchtime ! I saw a reserved table so sat down and waited, a few minutes later a guy came out and said nothing, I thought he will be over shortly, but no so I headed up to the counter and said I think this table is for me I have a reserved table for 4, he said no its not that table its the other one, however nobody was sitting at either so I said I will take this one - not so close to the door for my elderly parents etc.. Putting that to one side the food arrived quickly and was displayed nicely, plenty of choice and sandwiches were amazing really fresh and tasty. However we found an issue with the cream in the scones as it tasted funny almost like it has alcohol in. This disappointed us, but we continued. We asked for some more tea as we had one large pot between 4 people which only really gave 1.5 cups each and we wanted more, there was a comment as it to say you are only supposed to have one pot however the guy did get us one. Service was OK, but if I am honest he was on his own so trying to do everything and I just dont feel we had the attention we needed, e.g. no sugar on the table, asked for some, took ages to arrive etc.. We asked about the cream and were informed that he has probably given us brandy cream and he apologised for this, although not great, who has brandy cream with an afternoon tea - this was a real shame not enough attention to detail.Overall I expected more than this. The other people there had ordered some great food and it looked delicious when they were handing this out, so I would try it again for lunch, but would not recommend for afternoon tea as they need to have more service and more attention to detail in getting things right.

We had a voucher for afternoon tea and booked into this restaurant (the nearest for miles that would accept the voucher). When we got there, the restaurant was closed - a sign up on the door informed us so.We travelled home and rebooked later on that week. Apparently an electrical fault had forced closure. We had an email from Paul Day (I presume he is the Paul of the restaurant name) inviting us for a subsequent booking; he specifed date and time in his email. We accepted and reminded him that we were vegan.Upon arrival, the waiter knew nothing of our visit and told us that Paul was out supervising wedding breakfasts that day. It was clear that Paul had not put it in the book. The young man (waiter) was very kind and made all the right noises. He offered us free tea with a delicious vegan flapjack slice. We asked him if we could swap afternoon tea for lunch. He agreed and we chose an all-day breakfast option. It was ok but I was sad there were no mushrooms (as stated on menu) or baked beans (not stated on menu). There was also buttered spinach and an egg - not vegan. I could live with the egg but I am strictly no dairy (cancer sufferer) and I didn't realise the spinach was buttered till my husband pointed it out on the menu.Anyway, the waiter was delightful. The cafe owner remiss. The food average. We won't be going back, sorry.

If you visit when it’s quiet you’ll most likely be pleased. But today during breakfast with one very rude manager on duty and 4 tables he seemed unable to cope. A delay in service and the food was below par today. This place is just so hit and miss that I’ll just avoid it from now on. At least at The Grange or The Yews you’ll never be disappointed. Who wants to play Russian roulette when dining out!

Although we arrived just on 4pm ( closing of Sunday Menu ) the Chef willingly cooked us a roast Beef lunch which was the best we had ever eaten. The meat was tender and melted in your mouth and the roast potatoes and veg selection were delicious. A large pot of tea was all we needed to compliment this lunch. We can't comment on desserts as we were too full to eat one. Our first visit to this local restaurant - and it won't be our last. Two old Ducks !

Ok so we we not expecting the highest cuisine at this little place on the outskirts of Oadby We were pleasantly surprised at the menu. It caters not only for couples but families too. I ordered grilled chicken and the other half had fish. The food was cooked to order rather than heated up and my goodness it was a large servingAlthough from the road it looks like a small shop look closely and it has a lot of thought in the decor The TV was a bit of a distraction but otherwise I will certainly be going there again In summary the food was good hot and they even served my favourite cider

I stopped off for brunch on my way to a meeting 2 hours drive from home. I was pleasantly surprised to discover Paul’s Kitchen where I enjoyed really good scrambled eggs on toasted bread so fresh the bread arrived from the baker while I was there. The portion was generous and, since I couldn’t eat it all, the friendly waitress boxed up the rest so I was able to enjoy it for lunch after my meeting. Highly recommend Paul’s for breakfast!

On our first visit to Paul's kitchen I booked a table for 6.30pm hoping to be fed and have the kids in bed by 8pm. Only one other dining table yet it took 45 minutes for our starters and kids meals to be served. Kids meal should not have hard skin on chips as they can't eat them. Beans were cold and cheap quality. Even the ketchup is cheap sauce that you would find on a burger van. The calamari is shop bought frozen and tasteless, I was expecting freshly cooked food. I had to ask if the paprika chicken was also shop bought as it was chewy, watery and tasteless. For mains the steak was tough and chewy on a medium rare request. Ice cream seemed like a supermarket own brand. All in all terrible food. For a 30 odd cover restaurant that was only half full the service is incredibly slow although the staff are polite and helpful. The toilet is dirty and accessed from the kitchen, bizarre! Very expensive for such a poor quality meal.I left my name and number for Paul to call me if he wishes to. Unless we are invited back for a complementary meal we certainly won't be returning. Unfortunately the table next to us had a similar disappointing first experience in this restaurant and also had to send back food and complain. What I thought would have been a bistro style fine dining experience end up being worse than 2 for £10 pub deal.

Heard mixes reports about Paul's Kitchen but thought we'd give it ago. Nice and cosey inside and the staff were very friendly and quick to offer menus and take drinks orders. We both ordered eggs Benedict. The eggs were over cooked, the single slice of ham was practically see through, the muffins were cold and there was a distinct lack of hollandaise. My wife and I were a bit surprised at just how bad it was. For what we paid it's fair to say the food was way below par.

Heard a lot about this place, didn't live up to expectations! Service was friendly but amateur...nothing stood out, and we went when it was quiet...which I did not expect at 1pm on Sunday afternoon! (Family of 4- 2 adults 2 teens) The roast dinner was a treat instead of having to cook one at home, to be honest it was a restful treat but I could have made a tastier roast dinner at home! Yorshire puddings were flat splats of oily tasting batter, Chicken was tastless, roast potatoes were nice and carrots simply boiled , cabbage was tasty. Dessert- Apple and Berry Crumble... again, nothing special... looks and tastes homemade, but nothing i couldn't do at home; not well presented either. Food needs to be tastier and better plate-presentation too!

3 of us visited on Friday night and were the only people in the restaurant. The lady who served us was very friendly. The chairs, tables and particularly the floor were really dirty with the remains of previous diners food from the day time - surely it can be cleaned as it goes along - its not as though anybody else was there to distract the staff. My wife leaned her handbag against the front window / wall and it came away stained with blue - fortunately it did eventually come off.I asked for a sparkling water and was told there wasn't any so I pointed out the one remaining small bottle in their fridge and was given this - I asked if I could pop next door to the off licence to buy a further bottle for my mother was but was told that this would not be allowed - if you cannot stock the bar correctly and the customer is also buying a bottle of wine and other drinks and your policy is not to allow own bought drinks the lady could have nipped next door herself and bought one and charged me for it at her normal prices. My Shepherds Pie was just OK - very watery at the bottom and insipid looking but the cabbage with it was delightful. The other two had sausages and mash which was tasty but the sausages were very under done. The menu's were tatty pieces of paper printed at home with stains etc on them - when it would be cheap and easy just to laminate them if they could not be printed properly. Now the BIG issue. I went to the toilet - what a mistake! The toilet is adjacent to the open kitchen which was just filthy. Had I seen this before eating I would have left immediately. The toilet itself was not clean but I've seen worse - its just that to get to it you have to stand in the kitchen and when you see the state of this it makes you want to leave.I think that this restaurant is trying to be too many things - it serves breakfasts, take away sandwiches, snacks, afternoon tea, lunches and dinner - probably just trying to survive in a busy area but would probably benefit from having a specific identity and by cleaning the place occasionally!

What a nice surprise it was at Paul’s Kitchen. Lovely option for the roast. I had the chicken chicken, comes with the full works. Chicken wasn’t dry, enough gravy veg and potatoes which were roasted to perfection. Price wise very reasonable for what they offer. The roast is a Tenner with the option for dessert (offer of £16). Living in London we are used to paying over £15 for just a roast so this was a nice surprise. Very reasonable, was quiet on Easter Sunday but a pleasant experience. We will definately return again. Highly recommended.

But understood as only one waitress taking orders and serving the food as well so clearly very busy. The manager ...or im guessing it was him didnt interact at all which is unusual as he wasn't really doing much!!! The food wasnt good im afraid ...when it eventually came out. Items missing. Portions very small. The chips weren't good... I got 8 with my fish and chips!!! My husband had less with his steak. Asked for more bread and waited 15 minutes!!! All in all very disappointed expected much more . Not enough staff. My son and husbands beers were awful completely flat . They did complain and got replacements but were still flat.Yes I'm sure you will say we should have complained at the time ...obviously we did re beer but pointless complaining about food ..too many complaints im afraid.Such a shame.
