The second worse food I’ve eaten, when ever did black bean sauce turn into gravy? This meal should have been a black bean sizzler that didn’t sizzle and was coupled to slimy noodles. This was sent back and replaced with what should have been a “steak” sandwich but only to find the same slop on the bread, probably from the plate of the first meal. Won’t be returning.

Food good service ok. Have to go to bar to order even when 10 in party.

Nice friend experience definitely go. There again.

Meals Saturday have been good but today food complete let down

We ordered a pot of tea whilst waiting for our meals, and the plates were disgusting, baked on grease, covered in crumbs and the teaspoon was stuck to the plate with some kind of syrup. We’ve eaten all over the world, yet never asked for a refund, anywhere. Whereas with this place we asked for it before our food even came, to which a staff member said “well, they’re plating it up now” as though we were forced to eat it or something. Luckily there was a nice young lady behind the bar who completely understood the situation and helped us get our refund. Shame, because it looked like a nice place

Poor poor food I had what was supposed to be a deluxe burger.. literally was a steak not even a good steak tenderised and shaped ito a burger. tough flavourless no seasoning at all.. will not be returning

We go there for birthday meals ,always a pleasure ,lovely food and courteous staff.

Awful food! I ordered a burger it came out burnt. My friend ordered steak and it came out not even cooked, they offered her another that one also under cooked. My partner ordered the mixed grill, came home and was throwing up! They had given him food poisoning!!

Was absolutely appalled with my visit tonight! When the food came out the plate was not clean and covered in grease. The chicken was pink and smelt off. As a qualified chef I expected these basics to be met as the fundamental in hospitality. Even the coke was flat. Will not be back here anytime soon!

For the price you can't argue, was a nice steak, only downside is amount of kids and noise if you get in that end. Adults end is spot on

Had the carvery, which was tasty and with plenty of vegetables available. Service was excellent and the lady behind the bar happily changed my end of barrel pint for a fresh one without issue

Food lovely. Play area for kids is ideal to entertain them for a while. Staff are really nice.

Where shall I start? No atmosphere, food disgusting, watered down drinks I don't know how this place stays open.

Not sure about the rest of the hotel but been to the play area now for the last couple of weeks with the grandchildren and how they expect you to sit there while the kids are playing in the freezing cold is beyond me. I’m not even sure that’s legal to have a place so cold. I thought it was a one off but it’s been like it months. I certainly won’t be returning there until the heating is fixed. Couldn’t even eat my meal I was that cold. God knows how the staff run that play area in that coldness. They want a medal for working there but wat absolutely gems they are. Always helpful and smiling. It could be a good little play area if they sort the heating out!!!

Went to the pastures lodge function room to celebrate New Year’s Eve with 9 other people we all live locally, we didn’t book till two weeks before and I’m so glad we did, it was a fabulous night from the decorations, table settings and layout, service, food and entertainment, I had heard mixed reports in the past for us it was excellent, we would definitely visit again. Well done to everyone involved it was first class.

Didn't stay in the hotel. Just booked a table at the pub on Sunday. Staff friendly and helpful clean premises and the food was excellent.

Took the children here today, first time I’ve been in years. There was a queue to the play area and staff on the door seemed upset about toddlers getting restless waiting to go in. Play area was absolutely freezing (30/12/23), I asked the staff if the heating was on, and got an abrupt reply to say it was broken. People was sat with coats on. We asked for a Little Tykes car out that one of the toddlers could see and was told we wasn’t allowed because it’s for play group use only. Then we ordered food. It’s so frustrating having to queue to order your food, then queue again to collect your drinks from the bar. I don’t know why one person can’t take the food order and one person get the drinks to save customers queing twice, on a busy Saturday it was ridiculous. Food was really nice but my son wouldn’t eat his so I queued to get an ice cream and was stood in this queue for almost half an hour with only one person serving, came back to the table and my food that Id hardly touched had been cleared away, by this point I was so frustrated and made a complaint, was given a refund by the manager (thank you) and the food we had was actually really nice, but it was the only positive of the entire experience, everything else was a disaster and I left feeling really upset

Had our xmas day lunch in the hotel for the first and LAST time!!! meal was 1.30 for 2pm start..place was very busy..many more tables than normal all pushed together..had our champagne to start..then a 30 minute wait for starters..nothing special but worse to come..took an hour to serve main meal and another hour to serve desert..no appologies..no one asked if our meal was ok..no condiments..VERY poor service and very poor value for £100 a head.worst xmas day experiance ever..wont be wasting our money nxt year.

I've been a few times always nice until today chips & onion rings very greasy tasted like had been reheated a few times 2 tiny mushrooms with a steak I wouldn't have bothered this is why I stopped going before because the food went down hill😒

Usually go Saturday dinnertime so obviously enjoy the experience.

No vegetarian offered with carvery. Server shrugged shoulders and said you can just have vegetables!

Visited for a meal, had a sirloin steak with spicy wedges and pepper sauce really enjoyed it, spent around £50, not bad, staff friendly and helpful.

Lovely food but slightly disappointed today with the Santa's Sunday lunch. The food was fantastic but the promised children's entertainment was cancelled last minute, which they couldn't even be bothered to explain to the customers. The children were very disappointed and for the price paid per ticket I'd expect at least an apology.

Paid £200 for a Christmas meal including entertainer! Entertainer was a no show and not an apology, refund or even complimentary drink. Total sham and disgrace.

We were a large group that visited on the 6th Dec for our annual Christmas party get together. Have to say this is one of the worst meals I've had everyone in our party was disappointed. Cold soup. Small portion no potatoes only 2 roast which needed a saw to cut through. Dessert was terrible. Custard was like water and there wasn't an alternative for those who didn't want Christmas pudding. Totally unexceptional and not a professional service. Will not visit again.

Went for lunch great service polite staff. Girl taking our order heard it was my birthday and if I had my identification I would have received my meal for free good atmosphere good food and wasn't rushed to move on would recommend.

I sucked on this sachet and it was more enjoyable than the meal.... I don't leave bad reviews and have refrained from leaving one for this place. Because of that. But today took the piss.

Nice hotel lovely location and good breakfast. Friendly staff. On the downside the bed was to hard for my liking and when we stayed the fire alarm was constantly going off was told it was playing up but nothing seamed to be done.

Been to the hotel & pub 6 or 7 times Our latest experience at the pub was drinks were very expensive but food is reasonable value but very tasty. However don't leave your drinks unattended as the waitresses will take them, even though we had left our receipt for food next to them. When we challenged it they replaced with half pints saying they was only bits left in bottom. Even tried calling me a liar when we said we'd only had a mouthful out of each. We'd only nipped outside for 2 mins to vape.

We we're unable to order as a group and pay separately. As a result, most our meals came out at different times, 2 meals came out after 1 hour and 20 mins. The children's play area reaks of piss. We won't be going back.

Food always lovely & huge portions

The fish platter was burnt, all fried together. Parts of it too tough to eat, disappointed as it's the first time we've been.

Great value and excellent quality. Food is amazing and wonderful comfy and modern rooms. Excellent fresh breakfast too. Recommended

I've been going to Pastures since 2006. Monday lunchtimes Carvery was the worst meal that I have ever had!. A standard Carvery has increased in price to £9.25, the plates are smaller, and the beef and Turkey that the chef put on my plate was almost non existant; a piece of each, each barely larger than my thumb!. So the meal was almost cold, and I paid £9.25 for 2 miniscure pieces of meat, one Yorkshire pudding, 4 roast potatoes, a few carrots, a spoon of mash, and mint sauce that was so wally you couldn't taste it!. In fact you couldn't taste the vinegar at all, it tasted like it had been mixed with water!!. If the standard of food stays this way, then in the future we'll be getting our Carverys from somewhere else!

Love pastures lodge, the bar staff are always really helpful, got a pint of Heineken which was a bit flat and the barman happily poured me another pint in a different glass which was perfect! The menu offers such a wide variety of food so even if you're in a big group your sure to find something you like!

Lunch with friends. Having been here twice before, and not been disappointed, we were looking forward to our recent visit. We ordered cod & chips twice, haddock special and fish pie. Both cod & chips arrived together. The portions of cod were much smaller than our previous visit, yet the price had increased significantly. On closer inspection, one of the portions appeared to be all batter, and very little fish. We politely showed this to the waitress and asked for it to be replaced. The waitress, kindly took the plate, and requested a replacement. Meanwhile, the rest of our order was served. By the time the new plate of cod & chips was brought to our table, the rest of us had finished our lunches. This was clearly not noticed, and we did not make a fuss, but it spoilt our experience. Really disappointed ☹️

I cannot recomend this place enough and I am very fussy. you will not be disappointed I had the meal for two and it was the 1st meal that would actually feed two.the other two meals we had were brilliant aswell. Good staff spacious clean toilets plenty of free parking. Kids area and lots of seating. amazing place good meal sizes fair prices.

Went for the Lady Gaga/Pink tribute with work friends. Gaga was alittle disappointing but Pink was fabulous,definitely saved the best till last.Lauren the singer was good and interacted with her audience. Pie and pea supper was not that nice. Food did all come out at the same time by the lovely friendly staff but the pie...not very nice. A good sized function room,immaculately clean toilets,well staffed bar. Drinks quite pricey though. Some friends had booked the hotel rooms for the night and they all said the accommodation rooms were lovely and included a cooked breakfast. Overall a great place and great entertainment

Perfect location if you wanna drop in for a drink after a walk along the canal

Great food, drinks are a little pricey but the place is best enjoyed during quieter times when the staff look less stressed. Been plenty of times and haven't had a major issue with food yet. Would be nice to provide an option for fries too when people don't like chunky chips.

Only stopped for a coffee ☕, we have passed this place many times, all of it looked inviting, from the hotel to the grounds and the restaurant, even tho we didn't eat there all the food we saw being served looked delicious, the inside was comfortable and immaculate, a very nice atmosphere, but what I realy liked was the adults only dining area, a brilliant idea, hope to visit very soon to enjoy a meal.

Went with friends for food and we always go for their Carvery which is absolutely delicious, good choice of meat and vegetables all freshly cooked (Not frozen veg ) and not shady with the sliced meat. I can never say anything bad about their Carvery 👍👍👍

Attended a kid's party in the indoor play area. We had a breakfast each, food was great, and a tea and cappuccino. Reasonable priced and great for the kids. Peaceful area and very relaxing -aside from the kids party

A large group of us had meals here. The food was the worst we have ever tasted. The steaks were tough and mostly fat. The 'crackling' could have broken your teeth. The chips were 'soggy', I could go on. The best part was the drinks. Would not recommend and would NEVER eat here again! Manager doesn't care in the slightest either.

Went for a Birthday meal last night nothing to right home about the lamb and mint pie 🥧 the meat what bit there was Was ok the pastry was rank rock hard the mash spuds never seen a fresh spud pretty disgusting 🤢 not sure if or when we,ll be back.

Went to pastures for a meal Monday for my birthday I ordered the fish and chips when it came out I was so disappointed I had about 8 chips and the fish was that overcooked it was curled up on my plate I had to break it up to lay it flat on my plate I felt I couldn't complain because I got it free for my birthday but it was the worst meal I have ever eaten out.

Never been before as thought it was to upmarket for us common folk . It wasn't it was very welcoming and reasonably priced I rang them about an hour and half before we wanted to dine and they accommodated us . The service was excellent and the food was well presented and cooked as we ordered Brilliant thanks

Me and my da had a mixed grill each. They couldn't cook the steak for anything, but the rest of it was largely very good. Not as cheap as they used to be though, getting a bit on the empty side.. this might explain why they only had like 15 guests in the entire building. Would be a shame to see them go, they've been a part of the community for decades.

Great meals but was waiting far too long and my meal came fist but without my side order. The side orders and my partner’s order were 5 mins later. Must say that we are usually happy with the meals and service but not today. The drinks are extortionately priced. Thanks

Good food and nice relaxed atmosphere

Went to the restaurant. Loads of food choices. The carvery was really nice and everything was hot. My partner had a mixed grill cooked to his liking and again it was really hot. Good service and not a long wait considering it was a Sunday and very busy.

Although very busy. We had a lovely family meal. There were 7 of us. Food was lovely. Only fault that 3 of us had large mixed grillls and on each one we had something missing off each plate.

Love going to the pastures for carvery we go on a Thursday every couple of weeks with family, and always celebrate our birthdays there, the food is amazing and staff are really nice and welcoming
