Never before in my life… I was raised in Portugal, I will hopefully die there too, but marooned in Ipswich, papa piri is a stepping stone to the pilgrimage of my demise. Sustained by the bountiful char grilled chicken, a carafe to the brim of red elixir wine, the remarkable experience presented is the closest one meets to the afterlife. All this for 7.99, get in.

I been going to this restaurant for years and must say it does makes me feel like in Portugal, the food is great, always freshly cooked and the house wine is great. the staff are always very helpful and i have made this restaurant my First choice in all of Ipswich! Must try the T-bone steak they do it's literally Huge you get one plate with just the Steak followed by another plate with Chips, rice and salad. the prices are very good compared to the quality of food provided. I advise Everyone to try this amazing place.

I've ,known this cafe location for years but was very pleased when I visited a week ago. It has become a very clean and friendly cafe. Allthough run by Portuguese family it bar far the best English Breakfast I've had for a while. Everything was cooked right. Reasonable size serving good tea and with a friendly smile. It's spotlessly clean which is great. A pleasant environment and the price was good. I will return. Well done to the people there. They got it right. Mike C

iv dined [for breakfast] all over Ipswich and this is the best. i usually have an early bird or a lyte byte English breakfast with coffee and its always the same-very tasty . i can recommend it

Love this place, chicken is absolutely delicious (we ask for the Piri-piri on the side as it is very hot and I am a lover of spicy food!), authentically Portuguese cuisine, never disappoints. Would never, ever go to Nando's, not after going to Portugal, not after going here.

Almost every Saturday I have lunch in this restaurant owned and operated by Portugese people. They serve authentic Portugese dishes cooked with skill and passion. For years they have been developing this business and providing an excellent service. If they leave the UK my life will be diminished by the loss of access to that catering but also to their warmth and enthusiasm. They have taught me about their cuisine, their country, and their language. I am much richer for their presence in my life.

Well cooked breakfast and quality butchers sausages. The piri piri chicken baguettes are also very nice.

We have ordered some food with them and they were really late about an hour and excuses were made but worse of all was the food itself. Chicken was cold and dry like it was reheated from the day before and they sent us an incomplete order. Would the managers of papa's piri piri please read these reviews and act on it.

These guys have the best Portuguese barbecue chicken ever, super tasty and at a great price. On the other hand their customer service is pretty much non-existent. If you order to take out and pick it up, it'll be ready 20 minutes after the arranged time. If they deliver it will take at least an extra 40 minutes after the time they said they would deliver. Oh, and sometimes they decide to go on holiday for a month and a half!

We have visited this friendly Portugese cafe/restaurant almost every Saturday lunchtime since it opened. Service is helpful and very friendly. The grilled piri piri chicken is always moist and spicy with simple, well-cooked sides of chips, rice, and salad. The espresso-based coffee is also good.

I have been in twice now. Never again. You wouldnt expect a piri piri restaurant to run out of chicken but it has, twice. The staff are rude and dont understand what you want to order due to the language barrier. You just dont feel welcome.

Amazing Portuguese food in a friendly environment!Being a lover of authentic Portuguese charcoal-grilled Chicken & Pork dishes. I can't believe there is somewhere this good so near to where I live. I don't feel the urge to travel to Portugal so much anymore...Run and staffed by a friendly, welcoming family; you are guaranteed a meal as good as any place in you'll come across from Lisbon to Porto!They make an effort to stock Portugese beers such as Super Bock and Sagres, even stocking the dark varieties. The deserts are specially imported too, Choclate Cake and 'Baba Camello' (Caramel pudding) being two regulars.Cost-effective, eat in or out.Better than any other take away or cheap eat around.
