Papa John's in Crawley

The pizza is not good. Don't eat it.

Disgusting company. Waited 2 hours for a Pizza which I had to chase up. Said on phone it would be stone cold. They promised it would not be it turned up stone cold. They refused to take Pizza back. Said I would be refunded and I never was. Complained to head office and they said I would not be refunded. Lying joke of a company I would recommend everyone to avoid this cheating lying company. I would encourage for people to order their pizzas from the competition who don’t lie and steal from their customers and break promises when mistakes are made.

I am one of the regular customers of Papa John's and on my order today I was delivered my usual order of 1 chicken fajita papadias and 1 Philly mushroom papadias along with some dips. To my surprise, my Philly mushroom papadias were incorrectly packed at the store and I had Philly cheesesteak papadias in the box of Philly mushrooms which I took a few bites of before realising this. I do not consume beef as it goes against my religion of being a Hindu. On calling the store at Crawley Gossop Parade I was first told that my order was a Philly cheesesteak before I had to correct them to mention that my order was correct and I didn't order a Philly cheesesteak. This was followed by the store then saying they tried to contact me which I didn't pick up. This was also incorrect because the delivery driver mentioned that the call from the store was to mention that they didn't have the dips I ordered and hence they gave me other dips instead. Again I had to ensure that the store was not trying to cover this up and make it seem like I was at fault for not picking up the call. After understanding that it was a mistake by the store and trying to push the blame on me which I had to correct, the store apologized and I had to insist they send the correct order ASAP. I have emailed to complain as this is unacceptable.

Ordered delivery at 8pm. Tracking system has said the food was 'being cut up' and 'quality checked' for almost 2 hours now - still no sign. Store closes at 10pm. Store keeps hanging up on us when we try to call. Even if the food does arrive - just poor form on so many levels tonight. Feel sorry for the delivery drivers who are probably taking the flack...

Double pepperoni... so you actually get some.... double should mean a lot.. oh and we can do it luke warm and squashed in the box.... papajohns make it so hard to complain... just order elsewhere

Just placed an order for delivery, paid for it and have been called to be told that they have no drivers and cannot deliver the food and i have no choice but to collect it which im unable to do. that was the only £20 we had for a takeaway and we now wont see the money for a week. How does a franchise like papa johns have no drivers, all whilst your website is still more than happy to essentially steal our money whilst unable to provide the service. Absolutely diabolical service, this will be taken further.

Pre ordered for a Friday night delivery and they delivered 2 and a half hours early. When I called they said they had an IT problem. When I asked for a replacement they changed their story and blamed me. Refused to provide fresh pizzas for my guests and hung up on me. Disgusting customer service.

Food was cooked 15 minutes after ordering then took another hour to be delivered ( stuck on checking and cutting) ordered direct through thier website I called she said the food is still nice and warm its arrived stone cold and needing to be microwaved not what I wanted spending £25 and waiting 75mins

Ordered a small pizza as a treat for the kids. Ordered online, using one of their offered, reasonable price for the size of the pizza. Food was cooked quickly and was hot when collected. Pizza was tasty, with good amount of toppings, however there was a lot of salt overall in the pizza, so definitely not going to be a regular thing.

Ordered through deliveroo and pizza was picked up but never arrived. Contacted papa johns and he made me a fresh pizza free of charge which I collected. Thank you so much excellent service

The worst experience I have ever had. The pizza was wrong, the delivery time was 2 hours and noone even answers the phone in the store to give any updates. The upper management need to seriously get their acts together and sort this branch out. Absolute shambles

Friendly & great tasting pizza 5*

Awful experience... after using this store for years, customer service is so poor I have escalated it to their head office. I suggest anyone having issues with this branch to do the same. Quick to rush you off the phone, interrupted during explanations, misunderstood me due to lack of patience in a conversation. Dietary requirements are not taken seriously at all and when challenged, instead of resolving in a civilised way, they say they will block you from ever ordering again?! Please note there are a lot of pizza takeaway options in Crawley, you are damaging the Papa John's brand with your poor customer care. Other pizza businesses locally are going that extra mile, communicating nicely and leaving you way behind. No longer can you rely on the sign above your door and pizza boxes to represent you... YOU represent THEM.

When I order Papa John's via Uber, sometimes missing items and sometimes the order have mistakes. I've already given up eating papa johns in Crawley. And I found out yesterday they are cash less, how ridiculous

I've always ordered for delivery from Papa John's so today was the first time I ordered for collection. I was on the way back home. I found it suspicious when my order was done 8 minutes after I ordered it. When I went to the place they told me it would take 10 minutes or more. Apparently, they said on the app my order was done when they hadn't even began making it. 20 minutes later me and my Dad (who came up after I texted him about it) were still waiting. My Dad asked them "so do you just mark it down as to collect when it isn't?" He said "Yeah". I'll probably order from another place next time I want to get a celebratory pizza.

I was forced to accept a refund which a week later still hasn't arrived.. what made it worse is that I had friends over that night and had to fork out again to buy a dominoes!!?? Which was hot...have rang three times now to ask about a refund and still have got no further - terrible experience.

Always get a good deal and the pizza's are tasty.

Very rude staff, refuse to follow their own policy, take money and do not deliver products, have to go through head office. DO NOT ORDER FROM HERE. Save yourself the stress go to another place.

Bland,cold and not worth the money. I normally like Papa John's but this branch has changed my mind. I won't be getting Papa John's again after this, 10mins and my order was already made and when I got to the car felt cold. 10 mins home and everything was cold and tasteless.

I have regularly ordered from this Papa Johns for the past several years and they have always been reliable and the pizza has been great. Tonight however, Valentine's day, I placed an order at 18:30. I proceeded to hear nothing at all for 2.5 hours and at 21:00 I get a text saying my pizza is on the way. The driver on the little map drove straight past my house and delivered it to someone else. I then got a text saying my pizza has been delivered. So they took my £20 and delivered my pizza to someone else and took their time doing it at that. You may be thinking 'why didn't you just call them?'. Well, I rang about 10 times over the 2.5 hours and each time it either rang out for a minute and then ended the call, or it went straight to 'line busy'. Papa Johns are never getting a penny from me ever again. I read from the other reviews that a new manager took over a few months ago and this might explain the downturn in quality.

Poisoned me! I ordered a gluten free pizza base and I was sent a wheat based one, so it made me very ill.

Had to call up as no dips and as i have had this happen to often now fed up with them getting 3 or 4 pound off me each time for nothing.... The lady i spoke to was rude with attitude... Said i can have a refund once head office had be contacted about it.... So i asked for a email confirmation that this was going to happen... Then was told i will get the driver to drop them to you and put the phone down on me...... So... 40min later still waiting......

Ordered pick up of papa john's pizza, thin crust. It was like eating cardboard with cheese, meat and vegetables on top. Most disgusting pizza I have ever had. So disappointing, no taste and just awful! Don't waste your money, go somewhere else!

Rude staff and disgustingly filthy shop ! The food is appalling! Not sure what’s happened as it was always relatively ok before but some significant has changed! I just wouldn’t eat from here again! Certainly wouldn’t feed it to my children!

I Always get XXL and pay for triple cheese, but I never get it quite right but I get fairly a bit more cheese and I was ok with it! BUT today I barely got a single cheese! What I paid for triple!! And when I called to complain, they say “we’re sorry but that’s the new standards” whhhhhat standers!!?? To miss selling me and the ale my money but not giving me what I paid for???!! And in the end, they said “remind me next time and I’ll make sure you’ll get a triple cheese” I was not happy at all, I used to live this pizza but now it’s not even worth it.

I have been ringing since 4 30 pm today now 5 17 pm 5th 2023 it's a joke says your open but noone picking up phones and when u get cut off try to ring back to say line busy in about ten mins time will lost a customer

If I could give 0 stars then I would. I received the wrong order - meat when I ordered veg. Called them - they were rude on the phone and blamed me for the order. Went to store personally to deliver the food back. Rude customer service, rude manager, poor hygiene, no empathy, no apology, immature teenagers left to handle the store. The most horrible experience I have had.

This place is awfull believe the reviews. Sent me and my family burnt pizza. Spent over a hour trying to get hold of them I finally did and when I requested to speak to the manger he hung up on me and would not answer the phone again next day still no answer so I went to the store to be verbally abused and told head office has my money . I brought them the full pizza back still did not want to help. This pace has the worst staff I have very seen please believe the reviews and AVOID !!

Staff are rude and aggressive. Pizza was delivered inedible and could not get through in the phone for nearly and hour. When finally got through was told we were wrong and the pizza was supposed to be burnt at the bottom. Took the pizza to the store in the end to try and resolve the issue and was met with verbal abuse and the offer of a fight!

Worst customer experience, the pizzas were over an hour late and cold. The staff were rude and the manager was very unhelpful. The tracking online system said it had been delivered but it never was - then the delivery driver delivered them nearly an hour later. I will be disputing the payment with my bank as I do not trust them to refund me. Don't bother ordering from them - save yourself the hassle and go to Pizza Hut or Domino's.

I will always be a regular customer of this restaurant.. The food here is exceptional accompanied by amazing staff and good atmosphere, there's really nothing more you can ask for! Papa Johns - Thank you!

1.5 hr wait for delivery and cold pizza

This Papa Johns has recently changed ownership, and since it has, the quality has gone down the (deep) pan! The duty ‘manager’ is extremely rude and refused a refund when my pizza was poorly made. It wasn’t left long enough in the oven and they took it our way earlier than it should’ve been. They forgot the bbq drizzle and the store was extremely dirty. Customers card receipts were also laying around, and the people using the tills were clueless. No apology when the pizza was made incorrectly and I was shouted at for challenging their incompetence. Before the change in ownership, the store was brilliant. Papa Johns really need to review all these 1 star reviews and issue a warning to the new franchisee for the poor quality. Some staff in there are utterly clueless, rude and have no care in the world.

Absolutely awful customer services. Requested to speak to the manager and they wouldn't even come to the phone and then hung up on me after my pizza arrived stone cold half hour later than expected and all squashed on the side of the box

Pizza was great, not sure on the garlic sauce you get, it's more like a garlic cream. Just not to my taste. Can't fault anything else though

If I could give Papa John’s in Crawley a rating less than zero then I most certainly would. First of all, they have no idea what customer service even is. The manager shouted at me as if I were a member of staff - and even then I would be handing in my resignation on the spot. Once I was actually given the correct order (took a couple of attempts), the quality of the food was what I could only describe as poor. There was hardly any sauce on my pizza and I also found some bits of onion and mushrooms which were not toppings that I asked for and so I had to pick them out. I also couldn’t help but notice the shocking lack of hygiene within the store. The surfaces were visibly unclean and one member of staff was openly coughing in the direction and vicinity of customers’ food. I certainly won’t be returning and will be taking my business elsewhere next time.

Bought to pizza from this shop and it was the worst pizza ever. My 5 years old son can make better pizza. Call the shop and the man in the shop was rode. Basically don’t waste your money and time on this shop.

Worst experience ever at this papa john’s pizza.I ordered two vegan pizzas through the mobile app last Friday evening and went to the store after 30 mins from ordering to collect them. They didn’t prepare my order until I reach there. When I asked the counter the guy from the counter didn’t recognize my order at all. After showing my order number on my phone, he printed the slips from the till & started preparing the order. I end up waiting at the store for 40 mins to get the pizzas. That’s not the best part. When I reached home, we realized that we received the wrong pizzas (non-vegan, pork & meat pizza) then I tried to call the store but it kept saying busy (we dialed 53 times). I end up driving back to the store to change the pizza. When I reached the store, I noticed a couple of customers already complaining about the wrong pizzas delivered, and the store phones are kept down to avoid phone calls. I took pictures of them (see attached). One of the staff (a Muslim short lady) started to argue with me for taking pictures of the counter/phones. Then the store manager told her in loud voice not to argue with me and send her back (also he purposely avoided me). And he kept me waiting for another 10 mins until a delivery driver approached me, asked ‘what’s wrong with the order’. After understanding the issue, he asked the ladies in the back to redo my order. I end up waiting for another 30 mins for the pizzas. Even this time they didn't prepare the order correctly but thankfully It was vegan pizza. So, I decided to take it and no one bothered to apologize or explain why they keep the phones down. Also, I've noticed no food safety measures are being followed. We waited more than 2.5 hours for the pizzas and drove back & forth to the store which cannot be acceptable. I or anyone that I know of will not order from this papa john’s store AGAIN. Horrible experience ever in my life.

Had many pizzas from Papa Johns in the past but something has changed, when I ordered it said 25mins delivery then turned up after 2 HRS ! and then was awful, fell apart and nothing like the past, that is the last time I will buy from Papa Johns 😡☹️

Tie is absolutely rediculous me and my two friends came in for our break and some other man in there told us he had just watched him drop our cookie dough on the floor and pick it up and put it back in the oven. In my opinion I think that’s a joke

Yes very sure, then the guy said he'd send it out. 1 hour later nothing so called again and he said he wont send out because they were busy! Wouldnt refund was down right rude! Very disappointed with them lately ,I always use to order with our pizza some chocolate scrolls .... they use to be very nice with actual chocolate inside but now it's only pizza dough with some sirop on top 👎👎👎

I am very disappointed I am vegetarian so I order veg Philly mushroom papadia and pizza but they sent us meat Philly mushroom and I don’t know it was meat I all ready start eat and my husband was eating as well and he says it’s something wrong I think inside meat and I was angry I am pure vegetarian and I it meat it was my birthday today so we ordered pizza and papadia it was both veg so we ordered and it happened we call them and they say just sorry okay we will sent you veg papadia but I am not happy with your service plz if anyone ordered veg one please my request before you eat check first it’s veg or meat then eat because I had very bad experience never order again they ruined my birthday

love the taste of papa johns pizzas. the managers attitude is pretty bad. don’t dare complain. pizzas are never cut properly. now they’ve introduced a delivery charge which i’ve never come across with a pizza company. will more than likely be the last time we order from papa johns.

Thank you Papa John's! We always order Papa Johns when we fancy pizza as it never disappoints but tonight's was exceptional.usually I can stop at half and eat the left overs for lunch but tonight I couldn't stop myself from stuffing the whole pizza in one sitting. The base was super crispy and the veggies lovely and fresh. My husband loved the veggie sausage and peperoni, full of flavour and of course the famous garlic dip. Thanks for doing so many veggie and vegan options. Fab service from your new guy on the phone too and speedy delivery. Thanks x

My food was burnt some was under cooked

BADLY RUN STORE! AVOID! Order never arrived. Started to get concerned after a couple of hours by which point the store had shut. I'd tried phoning and got no answer. Ended up contacting customer services via Twitter who advised to give up. Contacted them several times for a refund but I've been ignored and haven't received my money back. This place has bad reviews for a good reason. If Papa Johns allow a store to be run so badly I'm never buying from them again. I suggest you give this branch a miss.

Food was 40 minutes late. Specifically asked for a call when it turned up which was ignored. The quality seal was broken so who knows who’s touched it. Had to call the restaurant twice and when I called the second time the guy who answered just stayed quiet and couldn’t be bothered to think of a reply to my complaint. Oh and the pizza was cold when I finally got it. Utterly rubbish!

Ordered at 18:35 and told 30-45 minutes (I order fairly regularly). Polite female on the phone taking the order. 19:40 it still hadn’t arrived so I called back to be told it was “on the way”. 19:55 it arrived. Delivery driver was polite, I tipped him as not his fault it was late, I’m sure the poor guy was overloaded with deliveries and he’s working a bank holiday. Went to eat the pizza and it was cold, not stone cold but I couldn’t even describe it as warm. A complete let down and didn’t seem like it was even cooked enough to start with, looked quite on the pale and soggy side, would have given one star if it wasn’t for me feeling sorry for staff working a BH

Shocking service! My order turned up more then an hour after a placed it, had to ring them up where is the order because the tracking was showing it has been already delivered when it wasn't! The person on the phone was very rude and couldn't give a proper update and the drivers attitude was terrible too! Do not order from these people if you want to save your money!

Do not order from here if you have respect for your money, the driver told us we had 5 minutes to come outside or he’d leave from the first time he called us ! And when I went outside within 2 minutes the driver lied and said he went back to the shop because he didn’t get paid enough to wait around, after making us wait another 40 minutes the driver turned up with cold food and had been sitting around the corner the whole time. We called the shop to request a refund and to return the food the cashier told us they don’t do refunds and then we asked to speak with a manager we got told the manager said he doesn’t want to speak to us. The website was indicating 25-30 minutes for delivery all going well in the making then it sat at quality check stage for nearly 40 minutes at which point I call and have to deal with some insolent employee, who clearly doesn’t care, and he hangs up on me when I say I want a refund. I try to call back 4/5 times before he answers, just saying you can have a refund. I suggest delivering it, but at a reduced rate, but that’s not an option according to his manager, ask to speak to manager get told he won’t speak to you. Pathetic customer service and I finally got a Luke warm pizza! Will just stick to Dominos from now on.

Ordered as Dominoes was shut. Brighton Papa John's was always good, so was looking forward to seeing what Crawley had to offer. Disappointing. More dough than toppings, tasted gritty. Ordered 2 pizza 90% of the pizzas are still in the box and going in the bin. Wouldn't order again and paid full price for the privilege.

Ask for authentic thin and crispy base it was neither more like regular crust.

Late cold food and very poor quality

Terrible food smothered I. So much sauce and undercooked rang restaurant and asked. For a refund straight away after two bites of one slice of pizza manager said we can do refunds can only reorder the same which makes no sense they came snd collected it and gave me a box of buffalo wings
