Panevino Restaurant in Monmouthshire

My pizza was topped with raw tomatoes and rocket, tasteless and not what I expected. Will try again.

Unfortunately a huge disappointment from coming here two years ago. Management had changed and so has the chef and recipe of the dishes. Ordered similar dishes as we did last time so we knew what to expect. Be prepared to only get a bowl Of Pasta with tomato sauce with very few listed ingredients from the description. Unfortunately the last time my husband and I are coming here. Waitresses do their best with service but manager unwilling to discuss our disappointment about the food.

Great tasting food and plenty of it - good range of seafood. Attentive friendly service. Good view across the river.

The staff are absolutely fantastic here. Food can vary. Sometimes excellent, sometimes good. Extensive menu at reasonable prices. Good location.

We were staying at the Delta St Pierre by Marriott hotel and wanted to have a quick lunch, as we didn't want to eat at the hotel either in Bristol (30min away) or in Cardiff (40min away), we decided to come to this restaurant based on reviews on Google maps. Surprisingly good!!

Authentic Italian food in a lovely restaurant with very friendly staff. Highly recommend the homemade Tiramisu, although all of it was very tasty and generous portions.

True Italian food, heavy large dishes with home cooked taste, Lasagne & Spaghetti Bolognaise are amazing! all seating is great apart from the table right by the door which is the same with most places, in the summer it is lovely to sit out on the river bank to dine. Good choice of Italian Wines. The staff here are always happy, really friendly and attentive.

Super Italian restaurant on the river. The seafood specials were good and service was excellent. A bottle of water on the table is always a welcome touch.

Very welcoming and great Italian food. Our waiter for the evening Isaac was very attentive and ensured we had everything we wanted. It is our go-to whenever we go out in Chepstow and I would recommend it to all who want Italian food.

Really, really lovely. They squeezed us in as a family of 4 on Valentine's Day when we hadn't booked and made it a really happy evening meal. Amazing food for adults and kids and a lovely relaxed, but classy, vibe.

We booked after walking past the small restaurant front. It is a good job we did book as Saturday at 7pm the restaurant was full. It is much larger than it looks and beautifully decorated. The restaurant had lots of staff, all knowing their role and they were very attentive to all customers. The menu had a good variety of dishes that included traditional Italian mains, pasta and pizza. We shared a garlic bread starter which was generous in size and cheese!! Our mains were delicious pasta dishes. I had pappardelle cacciatore which had beautifully tender duck and my partner had tortellini carbonara. We thought the food was beautiful, very reasonably priced and we would highly recommend a visit.

Went for lunch for my birthday. Warm welcome when we arrived and after menus were produced we ordered drinks. The food arrived shortly after we had ordered. The starter of bruschetta was very fresh and tasty. For mains there was a seafood tagliatelle and chicken breast with sauted potatoes. Both were accompanied by fresh dressed salad. Neither of us could eat dessert so we settled for coffee The staff were very friendly and the food was served in good time.

This was our second visit, the second being a couple of years ago. From the moment we arrived we knew that we were going to have a very relaxing and pleasant lunch. The staff were attentive without being intrusive, they were knowledgeable and helpful. The dishes were attractively presented and the quality of the food first class. Despite the fact that it was a busy Sunday lunch time the atmosphere was relaxed. I cannot speak too highly of this very splendid Italian restaurant. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and will certainly return.

Last minute booking after rugby and accommodated 4 of us late on. Lovely tasty food, friendly service and so helpful when we struggled to get back to hotel. Would highly recommend.

Pre-booked a large table. On arrival there was some confusion and our table had been given to someone else. Quickly resolved. Food was quick to come out, and staff were lovely. However the ham & pineapple pizzas were both very soggy and very difficult to eat - hence mark down.

Visited Panevino several times, first time in the summer, if nice weather sit out in the garden, there are great views over the River Wye. Quality of dishes are generally good, with a nice range of options. My most recent visit just before new year was good, nice food again. But we were disappointed to be rushed to leave after finishing our meal, disappointing as I booked the table months ago. We would have liked to have stayed for a few more drinks. But it obviously shows it is a very popular restaurant. The staff just need to be that little more attentive.

Had a great meal last night. There was a good choice on the menu. The staff were friendly and professional and the food was excellent. We will definitely be back.

Where do I start.. I've been here many, many times, never had a bad meal, top marks all round. Staff lovely and welcoming, no rushing, chilled atmosphere . That's all I'm saying because I want a seat the time I book. 10/10

Came here last year and loved it!! Wanted to come back again and disappointed!! Starter came out not right and with a mixed salad didn’t order the waitress was really lovely changed it for us but my other half was really let down with calamari under cooked and sauce was really nasty tasted off! Also had sambaca scallops lovely ordered carbonara with penne pasta but got spaghetti but was ok nice waitress looked after us well but food let us down this time

We came on Christmas day and it exceeded our expectations. Was wonderful! We d not been out for Christmas lunch before but would recommend coming here to everybody. The food was amazing. We all had different meals and loved it all. There was complimentary prosecco as we arrived and limoncello at the end. The ambience in the restaurant was perfect. Music in the background and very homely feel. The staff were very friendly and could nt do enough for us. It was perfect!!! See you in January!!

I have wanted to visit this restaurant for ages having heard great reviews from friends and it didn’t disappoint. The staff were super friendly and helpful. The food arrived in super quick time and was delicious (Bruscetta Napoli & Risotto con pollo). The portion sizes were very generous and it’s very fairly priced. The restaurant itself is very pretty and cosy and perfect for dinner with a friend. There was another table who were celebrating a birthday and the staff made an excellent fuss with cake and a rendition of happy birthday which everyone else in the restaurant joined in with. A really lovely, friendly and welcoming atmosphere which I would highly recommend.

We were a party of five and everybody loved their evening here. Food, service and ambience all excellent and at a reasonable price. We’ll be back.

What a wonderful meal. All six of the family had different meals and they were all delicious. The children enjoyed their meals very much and the adults too ate everything! Thank you to all the staff for welcoming us and a special mention to Ella who served us this evening. What an asset she is to the team.

A lovely restaurant with excellent service and very good food, we will be back tomorrow. So its tomorrow and we have been back and if anything it was even better, Ellie (our waitress for most of the night) was an excellent advert for good customer service, all the staff were good. Delicious food and as said excellent service make a fine dinning place well done

Food is absolutely stunning amd left us full for the afternoon. A lot of effort has gone into the cooking and presentation. Venue is fairly small and compact so has a good atmosphere but need to book to guarantee a table at key times (Table by the door to be avoided due to the draft and everyone waiting to be seated at this location). There is a baby changing unit in the female toilet and high chairs available. Friendly and attentive staff. They also don't automatically add a tip at the end which is good unlike some restaurants, but to be remembered if not carrying cash as we wernt. The food is excellent value for what you get, and is somewhere to go for a special occasion. We'll decorated for the time of year as well.

Birthday meal for my Boss, outstanding all round. Then another visit today, still just as good.

Me and my girlfriend came here as a last minute booking being over here with work. I had the lobster ravioli and she had the calzone. I must admit it was probably the best Italian I have ever ate. The girl who served us was also very helpful providing us a last minute table and being generally a great hostess. I hope we are here again soon as I would love to try another thing on the menu! Visited here with friends and 5 kids between 5 and 11. Food was good, from the olives to the pasta and puddings. We had a great time together and the staff were great with the kids. Loos were clean but there were only one per gender causing queues by our table. Would definitely visit again.

We were a party of 24 and pre-ordered our food. Everyone was impressed with the venue, the atmosphere and the quality of the food, including good portion sizes. I want to give a special shout out to Filip. His customer service was excellent. Nothing was too much trouble and he really kept on top of the job....taking dessert and drink orders, maintaining separate tabs, looking after the birthday cake and liaising with the organiser over any queries. Hang on to him as long as you can! Would definitely return, come rain or shine🥰

This is my favourite restaurant- the food is always AMAZING - the pizza is the best and so authentic , their Lasagne is divine! The decor and location are both stunning and the outside patio overlooking the river is beautiful it’s always my go to spot for any occasion - the staff are always friendly and welcoming as well just overall a great dining experience thank you

We had dinner here with friends after a family event during the day. We ordered the Sea Bass, Lamb, Monkfish and steak. All four meals were fabulous. Would recommend without hesitation. A really pleasant surprise if I'm honest as we don't really know the area and it was pot luck! The staff were brilliant too, friendly and didn't rush us at any point.

My family and I stopped in for lunch while visiting Chepstow Castle recently, I selected this restaurant after reading many great reviews about it. Overall we really enjoyed it, the food was DELICIOUS and the gentleman who tended to us was very helpful, attentive, and friendly. There were two younger ladies who also helped but they weren't anywhere near as attentive. I repeatedly had to ask for their help, (for water refills, bread, and the bill etc) even though they were sat very close to us and there was only one other party in the entire restaurant. Overall, we would certainly recommend it though, and will return when we're in the area again.

Went on 2 consecutive nights while staying in a nearby pub. Food was delicious on both nights and the service excellent. Carbonara was probably the best I've had and the portions substantial. We had no room for a dessert but finished off with a delicious liqueur coffee-perfect.

It's one of my favourite restaurants. The food is extraordinarily good, the service discreet and professional. It's a joyous place, and if I lived in Chepstow, I'd probably never cook again.

Second time to this wonderful Italian restaurant for a family birthday treat. Very busy but the service was faultless as was the food which arrived promptly and was delicious. We will Definitely be back again.

Had a really professional well spoken young waitress food was amazing but my view and company was even better.

Spaghetti carbonara is delicious!

We were on a table by the bar which was noisy area but the restaurant is generally noisy which went beyond a nice busy atmosphere as there is little to soften the sound and pop music was on the speakers. Food was ok, nothing special which was a disappointment for the price. Balsamic that came with the bread tasted like nail varnish remover so we didnt feel like best ingredients were used at times. Pizza base was pretty good, seafood started was decent, lamb not great, tricolour salad had way too much caramelised onion and two main veggie pizzas also have same onion so it ended up as the dominant flavour.

What a lovely surprise. One of the best Italian plates I’ve ever tasted, the lobster ravioli, exquisite. The brushetta and service also excellent and it’s a lovely tucked away locatjon where you may get a river view table

I live in Chepstow not been to the Panevino before-my sister and her husband came up for a flying visit from Dorset, i cannot say anything negitive about this place --the food, service, location, was all excellent and the waitresses were so friendly and helpful-i will visit again

We’ve lived in the area a year and always wanted to visit! We had an early booking due to you being fully booked! I can see why! Our waiter was spot on, the food excellent. The atmosphere buzzing as it was busy. Our service or food couldn’t be faulted. Will definitely visit again.

Wonderful Date Night with my husband of 41 years.. We live 20 miles away but love it so much we are prepared to travel

Really nice. Location, environment, food and service all first rate. Warm welcome, attentive service. Good varied menu. We both went for chicken based main courses, both were excellent. The tiramasu was similarly good. Place was packed on a grey Tuesday evening in late September. Speaks volumes!

I can't praise this restaurant too highly. We had a large table booked for family and friends and without exception everyone commented on the excellent food and service. The staff were extremely sympathetic and helpful when one of the guests was taken ill and had to be rested before being taken to hospital. This must have disrupted a very busy Saturday evening for the staff, but they coped brilliantly. Our guests came from all over the UK, but they all said this would be their first port of call when visiting Chepstow again.

A real gem on the banks of the river Wye, the service was fantastic and the food was simply stunning. Very good value for the stunning quality of food. Will definitely be back.

Amazing restaurant! We held our pre-wedding dinner here with a total of 26 guests. We were sent a menu to pre-order our food and this was reconfirmed with us upon arrival. Panevino were very accommodating and all of the staff on the day were super friendly and helpful. They went above and beyond, nothing was too much to ask! All of our guests commented on how lovely the food was and that they would definitely be coming back. We absolutely recommend Panevino.

Cracking restaurant, lovely food and excellent service.

We were originally placed in the front garden, which was dreadful being right by a busy road junction. Avoid! We were moved inside which was very much better. Starters were good (chilli prawn and gorgonzola mushrooms). Fillet steak was disappointing being distinctly medium rather than medium-rare. It was never going to be otherwise since it was a half-inch slice of meat. Everything else was good. Big shout-out for the tiramasu! Service very attentive and a great atmosphere.

Tastiest Italian Food I have eaten for years. The Seafood selection is amazing! I had the monkfish, highly recommended! The home made Tiramisu was delicious!!! If you are in the area this is a must!!

Four of us had a very good Sunday lunch here. That evening we had a very poor meal at a hotel just outside Chepstow so we decided to come back to Panevino for dinner on Monday evening. Again the food was excellent, the service prompt, friendly and efficient. We experience outstanding customer care over a transport issue at the end of the evening. We cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough. Please take our word for it and just book here rather than the other places you have been looking at.

Great meal in lovely surroundings. Huge compliments to the staff who were all very friendly and attentive. Special thanks go to Ella who was super. It was an extremely hot evening and we had a table booked inside as it was a short notice booking. Seeing how hot we were, Ella asked if we would like her to see if she could get us moved outside. She did this. Many thanks everyone, made for a much more pleasant evening. Will definitely be back.

Excellent food, all improved by the place being full of friendly Hawkwind and Phil Campbell fans for a concert in the castle later.

Good quality Italian cuisine. The pasta is cooked just al dente and the toppings are very good. The second courses are also of excellent quality.

Always lovely food at Panevino in Chepstow. Will go back for sure. The main and starter were superb. The dessert less so.

We visited the night before starting to walk Offas Dyke. An excellent restaurant. All of our meals were delicious and cooked as requested. We sat outside and enjoyed a view of the river. The outstanding thing about this place is their team of young waiting staff who were really good at their job, engaged and friendly.

Yet another perfect meal at Panevino. Staff were courteous and efficient as usual. Definitely the best restaurant in the area.

Just for context this is our restaurant of choice for a social occasion and / or family event and as such we have had plenty of lovely experiences here - tonight the service remained friendly and proactive but I have to question the quality and portion size of the T Bone as I sadly drifted from staple Italian dishes - with sauce a £35 dish consisting of a 10-12 oz cut with 10 fries and a albeit pleasant side salad left me feeling very short changed … indeed at £19 I’d have been disappointed - I’ll come again but please ensure your high end prices warrant the price we pay 👍

What a nice restaurant. Great food and a lovely service. Waiting staff really friendly. I only would have liked a bit more time between the starter and the main. We will definitely come back when we’ll be around👍

Food was very mediocre! I had what was supposed to be a fresh prawn starter and it came with 6 rubbery prawns in a bland sauce that tasted like they came out the freezer ! . Main course was carbonara that tasted like you could do a better job at home . A very average experience Expected more when you pay a decent price ! I wouldn’t go back .

Very nice Italian restaurant overlooking the River Wye in the heart of Chepstow. Pleasant atmosphere and the food is great - I recommend the lasagna. Atmosphere is friendly and casual, there were many groups and families both times I ate here.

What an unbelievable hidden gem here! Went there without reservation and got a lovely table outside. From the moment we entered the restaurant the friendliness of all staff was very noticeable. Opt to sit in the terrace overlooking g the Wye River, with a glass of wine and a pizza. The tropicale (ham and pineapple) is good!

Just had the best authentic lasagne I’ve ever eaten in my life. Super friendly staff in a lovely setting.

Fabulous lunch on the river, I couldn’t think of a better place to sit. Food was good , service was lovely and portions were generous….what’s not to love ?
