Excellent Chinese takeaway with really helpful and friendly staff.

Ordered from here for my 1st time last night. Delivery was late but I can understand that if they were busy on a Saturday night. Spent £35, the vegetable oriental platter sounded amazing. It came in a pizza box all thrown in and mixed in, no efforts with presentation 90% of the box which cost just under £15 was soggy chips and soggy onion rings. Their Chow main and rice dishes tasted very bland and their seaweed was coated in sugar and just didn't taste well with a Chinese. It was my first time buying but I will not be returning.

First time ordering for delivery polite male voice on phone. Told 40mins to 1hour for delivery,15 minutes later knock at front door,fast delivery delicious Chicken fried rice,(bonus no peas). Popperdoms,Prawn Crackers,Sweet and Sour Sauce, lovely Chips all amazing,thank you. Definitely be placing order with you again,very happy 😊.

After this takeaway changed hands, I had heard negative reviews and avoided. However, last night we decided to try again after a family recommendation and I’m so glad we did! We ordered on their website as it was MUCH cheaper than Just Eat. We ordered a set meal for 2. There were 3 options and we chose I. The food arrived quickly and was hot. What surprised us most was the sheer volume of food and the quality. Probably the tastiest food I’ve ever had with lots of quality meat. We had 2 huge meals with at least another 2 huge meals the following day and then some. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this place

Coulden’t be bothered to cook tonight, so ordered chinese delivery from Pagoda Caerphilly. First time but wont be the last, arrived on time nice amd hot good grub and fair price.

Ordered only three items, sat waiting for over twenty minutes in the very cold shop only to be handed our food by a very clumsy rude ill mannered young man. Reception at the counter is so disorganised. Got home the order was wrong again for the second time, ordered chicken in satay sauce received prawn curry. Ordered special fried rice that had to go in the bin. Will definitely not be returning neither would I recommend. New owners need to sort this out or this will be the next place closing down.

OMG! DISSGUSTING! such a shame used to be such a lovely takeaway. Now, prawn toast like chewy doorstops and rice like semolina. Came out of the container as a brick and couldn't separate! The beef and blackbean was so salty it made my tongue sting! 🤮🤮🤮

Absolutely disgusting me and my partner ordered from here last night and was absolutely disappointed the rice was salty and bland the bbq ribs didn’t have hardly any meat just bone and the rest went in the bin waste of money

After being quite taken with the veggie options I was keen to try out a new place. After ordering three chow meins that were really greasy and to have the only veggie one with a bone in not going to be heading back sorry.

New owners, sadly it was the worst Chinese I’ve had, shocking, I don’t normally leave anything but I left it all, a bit of advice, concentrate on a smaller menu and get it right, menu is far to big to be successful!!

Four different dishes ordered including one vegan and we all thoroughly enjoyed our meals. Friendly and pleasant staff and excellent food. As a vegan it was fantastic to have such a vast array of options. Would definitely use again

We ordered chicken In garlic and chilli sauce and Singapore noodles the chicken dish was in a waterey tasteless sauce and the Singapore noodles were stuck together also tasteless, don't waste your money as this place has gone downhill since the old owners have left

Ordered my food online for delivery at 19:40, turned up at 17:50 so understandably it was sent back with the driver. We have had the early delivery despite choosing a time on their website previously, but have let that slide but two hours early is not acceptable. Spoke to someone at the shop and explained the situation and that it clearly states on my order that it was booked for a specific time and that could i get a new order sent out at the correct time for which he agreed. 19:50 the order arrives back at the door, opening the order it was clear to see that the order that arrived two hours earlier had just been sat back in their kitchen gathering dust, the food was lukewarm at best, sauce was congealed on top of the rice, chicken balls were soggy due to being sat in the bag for so long. Had to ring the shop back where i was put in touch with the owner who insists that it was cooked fresh to be re sent out to me and hadnt infact been sat waiting for two hours. If that is the case and that was their idea of fresh food then that disturbs me even more. The only solution the owner could come up with was if i hadnt touched the food (which i wouldnt have fed my dog so definitely hadnt touched it) the driver would do a third trip to my house to collect it for a refund (great customer service) so im left hungry eating dry crackers which to be fair, is probably better than eating what showed up at my door from Pagoda tonight. Good work Pagoda, another lost customer.

Just 15 minutes for my delivery, awesome food

Before the pagoda was taken over by the new owners it was a busy and thriving local chinese with very friendly owners used by so many people in the neighborhood/community.Before it was always packed and now it's pretty much empty.I Haven't been to the pagoda since it changed hands because of it's reputation going really downhill,the reviews and also because it now has a hygiene rating of 2.

Food was amazing …fantastic old fashion pancake roll crammed with filling !! Still warm prawn crackers(free ) Mains were an amazing roast duck with Malaysian curry sauce and king prawns with Szechuan sauce Had plain chow mein and stir fry bamboo shoots and water chestnuts ! Everything hot and delicious.. can’t fault this restaurant

Haven’t had food from here in a long while, heard about new owners and the most recent reviews on here have been very negative, but having received a new menu through the letter box we thought we would give it a go. And are glad we did! Plenty of options, including vegan choices, all the food was delicious! Huge portions too meaning there is plenty left for tomorrow, so glad to have such a great takeaway so close and will be back again soon!

I tried the new vegan menu and ordered the 9 inch salt and pepper box and the sheer amount of soggy chips/chicken balls/shrimps and the others was absolutely awful! Way too much for 2 people. We also ordered the vegan prawn in garlic and chili and egg fried rice. The rice was dry and the sauce was sickly sweet. We had to throw it all away as it was making us feel unwell and gave us horrible indigestion. Should have read reviews first! Do not order from here if you want tasty food!

Large portions arrived quickly but quality of cooking very poor, too sweet, greasy. Chow mein dominated by sloppy, over-cooked noodles and beansprouts with a few tiny king prawns and traces of limp green leaves, also hopelessly over-cooked. Pankake roll greasy and squishy, difficult to cut and no crispness. Very disappointing!

Unfortunately, this place has changed ownership. And it shows in the food, sadly. You gets decent size portions, the chicken balls are enough for 4 people. The issue is, the food is just not that nice and most of ours went in the bin! Might be to others taste, just not mine.

Worst Chow Mein I've ever had in 40yrs. Eat a few noodles and in the bin. So much salt in it was unedible 🤢🤢

One box meal with sauce and one chicken and mushroom dish ordered. The box meal was without the curry sauce ordered so dry chips and rice only. The chicken and mushroom was earthy tasting but I thought I'm too hungry to leave this so eat a few more mouthfuls until I had something that wasn't food in my mouth. I spat out a stone or what I hoped wasn't someone's tooth. Lord I felt queasy and let's just say the rest was binned and never ever again will I go back.

Since the previous owners this has gone very bad. Given them the benefit of the doubt a few times. Never again. Stodgy, gloopy crap. Please find an alternative Chinese. It will not be as bad as this place!

On entering the the pagoda I noticed the lack of customers, ordered my food , then out of curiosity looked at the reviews . Then realised the pagoda was under new ownership and read some reviews. I Gave the place a chance . Food was prompt , didn't wait long , but I was the only customer , was hot , but totally different in taste and colour , with a slight sweet tangy flavour to the chicken curry and chicken fried rice I previously had when it was under the old ownership. It also had all the decor ripped out , so the atmosphere made it feel like a low budget takeaway . Tried it once but sadly not again

We went here without knowing that this takeaway had changed hands. The meal was awful. No taste to the curry sauce meat awful chips awful. Not at all what we expected you might up your game but we won’t be trying in the near future...

Used to order takeaway from Pagoda frequently under the old management. Thought we’d try it under the management but we were very disappointed. Curry was watery. Crispy beef sauce was watery and extremely sweet. Spring rolls tasted like shop bought

Absolutely awful food! Shredded crispy chicken was soggy raw goujons. Egg fried rice was mush, chips tasted of oil. Curry was water. Forgot to add the rice and the chips to the bag so had to drive back. Literally the worst food ever!!

We used to love this Chinese for over 15 years with fantastic food but New ownership since we last visited 2 months ago and very disappointed by the quality of the food. Special fried rice was literally just plain rice in a tub. Rice was clumpy. Definitely a step in the wrong direction and a slump in the food quality. We won’t be retuning.

Without question, the best Chinese/Cantonese takeaway, in Caerphilly. In fact my family and friends are in full agreement, that Pagoda, is simply the best!

Have lived in Caerphilly 17 years and have around 2 Chinese takeaways a month. I have NEVER had an issue with any of the food from here. It’s simply gorgeous. My personal favourite is Sweet n sour chicken Cantonese style (not battered balls) which comes in the sauce and the crispy shredded beef. Staff are lovely, premed is are spotless and the food amazing. You won’t be disappointed

Always go to pagoda for a Take away. We always have a tasty meal and the service is great. I tend to order over the phone as it can be busy.

If you have taste buds do not order from here. Everything tasted the same, it all tasted of vinegar. I’m sure they’ve must’ve frozen those chicken balls as you could smash glass with them. Not worth £30 I wouldn’t even pay £3 for it all....

Always the most delicious Chinese! Never disappoints! I’m not from Caerphilly but it’s worth the car journey down every time to pick it up! Recommend the duck in Cantonese sauce in particular!

Very over priced for the quality of the food! The chicken balls we not even freshly made, it looks like they have been sitting around for some time, ended up binning half of them! Probably won’t be using Pagoda Cantonese again!

Barely any sauce with the takeaway. Chips were fries. Rice was dry. Chicken balls weren’t even chicken balls. Chicken was dry. Over priced. No taste at all on anything will not be visiting again. Worst Chinese I’ve ever had

Very friendly staff and excellent food - can't fault it. Unfortunately they were only accepting cash and even though we ordered over the phone we still had to wait when we arrived to pick up. However, this wasn't a big problem and the meal was lovely.

We are regulars at this excellent take away, it’s very friendly staff often know our choice of food before we speak, and our preferences on food prep are listened to and carried out, eg, my wife likes small pieces of onion , and that’s what she gets ..... it must be excellent, we keep going back .

Anybody who knows me knows how much I love Chinese food . Ive eaten in city in the UK. I'll make no bones about this. The pagoda is The best Chinese takeaway in south Wales. I always order my food extra spicy for extra flavour (trust). This establishment has the most tastiest dishes. Ok the menu is limited, but what they are masters at their dishes. 10/10

Friendly staff and always great food. There's no delivery service, but it's definitely worth the trip to collect. I would recommend placing your order over the phone first as they can be busy at peak times, or just use the waiting time to buy your drink and dessert in the neighbouring shops. Minimum spend on card is £5, but there's a free to use cash point outside.

This is my go to take away restaurant. Lovely food, brilliant service and big portions. Owners are very friendly and always keen to recommend new dishes. Food is ready very quickly, never had any issues with the Pagoda.

Have tried many take away Chinese restaurants and have to say this is the best. Agree with the previous comment on the crispy beef in chilli sauce it's better than the Happy Gatherings. I always ask for extra sauce and they always oblige. Ok they don't deliver but Uber nd Deliveroo will see to those needs soon.

Food is consistently great at a reasonable price. The staff are always pleasant and I have never had an order incorrect. Only reason I have given a 4 star not 5 is because Pagoda do not offer delivery or poppadoms.

Love this Chinese and we visit on a regular basis. Great crispy beef and their set meal for two is delicious. Great with my sisters allergy requirements too!
