found this place by trip adviser as we where looking for somewhere we could take the dog we had with us. Didn't disappoint - lovely food sat out on the balcony section at the back. Is worth taking a coat as just sitting you do feel the chill but had a lovely lunch then walked it off on the beach - came back and had a cheesecake desert. Was busy but well run and food was timely and service super friendly - would recommend.

Having had a lovely lunch, at The White Eagle Rhoscolyn yesterday, today we decided to try its sister establishment, The Oyster Catcher. Again we were not diesappointed. A lovely warm welcome for us and our dogs inside. As we are of the older generation we do not eat large meals so just had two starters. Both were very tasty and plenty enough for us. The only thing I would say is that it may have done with some lighter meals for lunchtime.

We had an evening meal at the Oyster Catcher last week, and thoroughly enjoyed it. Both the food and the service were excellent. Thought it was a nice touch that we were given a card telling us the name of our waitress and our chef. Can only compliment both Aiden (the chef) and Katie (our waitress) for a delicious meal and excellent service. Whilst chatting to Katie, we were amazed to learn that she had only worked there for a few weeks - on that basis, we expect she’ll be running the place when we return next year! Thank you for a lovely evening, we will be back.

We visited The Oyster Catcher today after pre booking for a table of 5. We had a beautiful view from the upper dining room. The staff were very attentive and were so kind is assisting our friends with mobility issues by showing the way to the lift and disabled toilet. The menu is awesome with plenty of fish dishes on offer. One member of our party had the Welsh burger and advised it was top notch. Two members of the party had surf and turf which was half a lobster and steak again with a big thumbs up!!! My friend and I had the Seafood platter to share. What an absolute treat and worth every single penny. It consisted of half a lobster, smoked mackerel, smoked salmon, cockles, brown and white crabmeat, oysters, taramasalata, olives, bread and we ordered a side of chunky chips - yummy. Again we must say the staff were top notch and the chefs incredible. A nice walk to the beach afterwards resulted in a very agreeable afternoon by the sea.

My family and I visited The Oyster Catcher a number of times during our stay in Rhosneigr earlier this month, and were always very happy with everything about it. The staff were friendly, the service was good, and the food was delicious. For anyone who is still wary about visiting restaurants in these days of masks and Covid, there is plenty of room outside, and both the terrace and the garden offer great views of the nearby sand dunes! There were plenty of 'hand sanitising stations' outside, and signs on the doors asking people to wear masks inside the building.Any birdwatchers reading this might like to bag a table with a view of the nearby lake. We saw a fantastic murmuration of starlings at about 8:00 one evening!

After this being given a superb recommendation from friends and family we were really looking forward to our visit to TOC. Initial impressions were good as the staff were helpful in bringing forward our dining slot a couple of hours. On arrival we found the signage towards the restaurant a little confusing but it’s minor point. My initial thoughts on the restaurant were that it looked nice with fabulous picture windows and a nice combination of traditional chairs and booth style seating. However after being seated and starting to look about us we noticed that things were looking a little ‘tired’ and in need of a good refresh. Following this we noticed my wife’s wine glass was full of marks and not clean at all. The cutlery on the table was also not very clean. Fortunately our table was set for 6 so there was enough to find a couple clean sets and avoid having to main to the wait staff, but it doesn’t fill one with confidence before eating. Not just at TOC but I’d been quite surprised that all 4 restaurants we ate at during our Anglesey trip had returned to paper menus as opposed to phone app, which were not new either and a little ‘grubby’ and whilst every shop / restaurant we visited required us to wear face masks it seemed a little counterintuitive? Anyway onto the food.. my wife enjoyed her fish n chips but I felt her chips weren’t great (tasted like reheated or old) my burger was just OK I found the bun not toasted, which I would expect and extremely soft which just disintegrated in my hands leaving me to have to use a knife and fork, not great. The fries were limp and undercooked far from crispy golden fries. These may seem like trivial issues to most but when you are paying £15 for burger and fries I’d expect them cooked to perfection. I didn’t main to wait staff about any of the above as I feel they shouldn’t need telling this sort of thing should be the norm. Based on previous commendations I’d hope that this was just a ‘one off’ and maybe I’ll give them some slack as it’s probably the end of a long season and I accept hospitality has had it very hard recently

Came for lunch with a group of friends, had high expectations as everyone raves about this place. Unfortunately, we were all disappointed. The service was slow and unfriendly. No smiles, no attentiveness. There was only one other table so absolutely no reason for the service to be so dismal. Staff seemed tired and uninterested. Desperately need more training in every area. Sunday roast was okay. Fish and chips was average, if anything, it was over cooked and rubbery which you wouldn’t expect from a seaside restaurant. Menu says Coke but it turned out to be Pepsi…The venue itself is great in regards to location. Music upstairs is so odd and doesn’t match the interior vibe. Downstairs music is pop and completely different vibes from inside. Not offensive but just a strange combination. Wouldn’t recommend and wouldn’t return.

We live locally and have had a few lovely meals here pre-Covid. This visit, however, was very different. The service was slow and the staff seemed disinterested. We both ordered steak and chips. I can honestly say it was a cheek to send those meals out from the kitchen. The steak was over cooked and tough, sitting in a pool of oil with the remnants of whatever else had been cooked in the same oil. The pepper sauce was like water with a few peppercorns floating in it and the taste was awful. Seemed like a packet mix. The manager offered us a replacement meal but after waiting not far off an hour for such a disappointing meal we opted to just leave. The meals were taken off our bill but they made sure to charge us for the two minute bottles of coke we ordered to have with our meal! It’s a pity for local people that this place isn’t somewhere we can visit.

I asked if we could sit outside since the indoor options were pretty poor. After 20 minutes no one had even looked at us. We asked management and they told us to ‘grab a girl’ (which was - truth be told VERY inappropriate)’10 minutes later and still no one had even looked at us. We then left to grab a chippy in the town as we felt unwelcome,We can only assume it’s because the table was under a local name and we spoke with a local accent - everyone around us speaking with a Mancunian or Scouse accent seemed to be served without issue. Seems to me that the Oyster Catcher is Xenophobic. It seems to me that locals are not welcome here.

Odd, as it was no more windy than any other Anglesey day, the weather was good, sun was shining. As we left we realised most outside tables, upstairs and downstairs, were taken by people who had food from their downstairs shack/bar areas, none of them being blown away. Evidently they just didn't want to staff the outside area but hadn't wanted to turn down a booking. Also was disappointing to wait 30 mins even to order drinks, waiting staff so highly skilled in avoiding the gaze of people sitting down that we had to get up and ask someone if we could order, as people who arrived 15 mins after us were already ordering.Nice food though.

Pleasing modern trendy establishment with a 1st floor restaurant and a small downstairs bar where you can eat informally, However the decor and lighting in the downstairs bar feels cold, the layout is bitty with limited seating so soon fills up so you don’t feel able to relax there a while. Bring totally detached from the restaurant chatter and hubbub it very much gave off a transient atmosphere. The saving grace was that the bar staff were friendly and helpful. Main restaurant is upstairs and if you choose to be seated outside on the decking area be forewarned it’s very windy which I found uncomfortably chilly even on a sunny afternoon. Found the food and alcohol to be overpriced consequently this restricted us to just a main course. Waiting on was slow and lacking unfortunately. We suspected they were short staffed and made allowances, if so it isn’t the fault of the waiting on staff. Overall the lacklustre atmosphere, staff issue and pricing has put us off going again.

After driving a couple of hours, we stopped off here as it was in a great location. We planned a long evening with a few drinks and a delicious meal. However when we asked at the bar if we could keep our tiny vw campervan parked overnight (next to the sand dunes) whilst we eat and drink we were flatly refused and told use a campsite! Charming. The idea of this was to give us a break from campsites for one night.........

Absolutely amazing place to eat. Great customer service and the food was beautiful. We had the crab on toast starter, mussels and monkfish and every dish was full of flavour and delicious. It’s nice to visit a dog friendly venue that doesn’t just serve pub grub. Worth paying a bit extra for the meals. Beautiful venue with lovely views and atmosphere.

Such a lovely place. Weather was poor but we managed to get a table in the restaurant for lunch. The outside area was packed with many families and dogs in a great dunes setting. Outside area is great with a smart street food shack and a bar for snacks. The restaurant is modern and has great views and more importantly, great food and service. What a fantastic place to eat and enjoy local seafood and beers. A thoroughly great place to eat. Highly recommended.

Such a lovely setting for drinks and dinner! Came here with my friend for a long over due trip together. The food was amazing, we both got lobster for our mains and the drinks were tasty too! Downstairs the bar area was lively and there was a great atmosphere in the restaurant and the bar downstairs. Highly recommend!

We visited Rhosneigr as we had never been there before. My fiancé suggested we get some lunch and we had a walk around but nothing really excited us. We had heard about the Oyster Catcher as my fiancé’s family had visited before. We arrived and it was very busy outside, we opted to sit inside. This was a very good decision as the atmosphere and decor was right up our street. As it was only our lunch I opted for a burger and chips, and my fiancé had a pasta. They were excellent perfectly cooked. A young lady was our waitress and I’d like to personally thank her for making our experience here so enjoyable. I cannot remember her name and i feel awful because she really needs some recognition for being a credit to not only the oyster catcher but the industry itself. We felt very welcome and we had struggled to feel welcome on some visits to other restaurants whilst in the area. I highly doubt she would remember us but she spoke to my fiancé about pornstar martinis, I hope she does and can take pride in how wonderful she was. We willbe visiting again when back in Anglesey, and we can’t wait.

A fantastic experience at the Oyster Catcher with my husband and two children (14 and 13). Firstly it was so great to not have to book. We turned up at 2.30 and had a gorgeous table inside with wonderful views over the dunes. (We had actually also come with friends earlier in the week and had a table in the sunshine outside but today was too windy). The menu catered for everyone and for a quick drop in downstairs also had good take away street food. We had fish and chips, delicious mussels (great portion size) and fish curries. And the desserts- wow! Good old fashioned knickerbocker glory and banana split with caramel ice cream- yum! Finally, the service was really good. Our lovely waitress Sarah was really friendly and attentive, the food arrived piping hot and quickly. The fact that we’ve visited twice in the same week after coming to Anglesey for years says it all! Thank you Oyster Catcher staff!

Lovely coffee served in the dog friendly bar. Dogs aren't allowed in the restaurant, which is understandable. There is a pizza shack where you can order food to be eaten in the bar, but we didn't fancy pizzas. The main menu isn't available in the bar. Lovely environment with great views. Definitely worth a visit.

Beautiful restaurant and great location.Food not so good.Surf and turf served with limp salad and what looked like minute steak that was poorly cooked and even worse quality. Salad and dressing looked like it was yesterday’s.Looked like the restaurant had staffing issues with lots of new folks, but these never impacted on the poor quality of the food served. Got a few pictures if needed to compare to some other posted images.

Went there for brunch and had a pretty bad experience. First, the 12 oysters I had for starter were ridiculously small (too young), one of which I had to send back for replacement as it was the size of my thumb nail, literally. Then wine I ordered with my £25, reheated, dry micro lobster (see pic) came very, very, very late. Despite having asked for both to be served together, we had to ask the waitress twice before it was brought to us, but by then, my dry lobster was cold. Politely, I asked the person in charge to replace my food and went to the loo. When back to table, a new micro lobster was there waiting for me; undercooked and therefore cold. My guest had the mussels, which we thought smelled and tasted a bit funny, but trusted to be fresh. I was charged for the reheated, dry, inedible lobster and my guest and I had mild food poisoning 48h later… Seems like someone prioritises ££ over the health of their customers. Never again despite the beautiful landscape.

The building, setting and location wow!Staff where very welcoming, attentive and professional. Ordered was taking quickly Drinks arrived quickly too, really enjoyed their own lager on tap.We were all forward to the food as we looked the menu days before and when it arrived it smelt and look amazing, but it was quite disappointing. My wife and I ordered the surf and turf and the beef was under seasoned, over cooked and the meat just tasted tough, for 23pound per dish you would of expect a better cut of meat and the half lobster well was only two mouthfuls which were rubbery.Everything else was good. Kids enjoyed their cheeseburger and chips. And the mother in law had mussels and crap on toast..Also the sides were tasty too.I would recommend this place but just not the surf and turf...Maybe they could look into another supplier for their beef .. as it is quiet a expensive place to dine and it doesn't live up to the place But overall staff were great, atmosphere really good...food little bit disappointing

A little expensive so not somewhere to go too regularly (!!) but a wonderful evening. One gripe I have with restaurants at the moment is that condiments are in sachets as if you were in a McD. I can understand why with the current climate but there could I’m sure be a better way.

We ate here on a busy lunchtime service last week and couldn't fault it. The meal was fantastic - the best calamari we have had in a long time. My monk fish tale was superb as were the mussels and my daughter's burger meal that our party chose. We were served by Cerys who was very attentive and the timings of every part of the meal couldn't have been better. We had a lovely view of the lake and thoroughly enjoyed our visit.I agree with previous reviews that it is best to call in or call ahead to book a table as my email was also unanswered. It is also worth booking well in advance especially for evening service in the restaurant.

We had pre-booked the week prior to our visit but when we arrived our name wasn’t on the list and the gentleman said he would ‘see what he could do’! Making us feel an inconvenience even though I’d offered to show him my confirmation e-mail. We were shown to a table on the lovely terrace- unfortunately there was a dirty dogs water dish under it which we asked to be removed before the kids put their foot in it! We ordered x3 diet cokes and a beer- out came x3 regular cokes and a warm beer They were changed with no problem when we asked the staff. We were booked in for 5.45 pm to suit our 5 & 8 year old, by 7pm we were ready for walking out as we were all starving but luckily our meals came in time. My partner and I had surf and turf, both cooked well but the portions were on the small side for the cost of the dish. Our bill came to just under £100 for x1 starter, x2 kids meals and x2 adults meals with drinks. I honestly felt robbed as it wasn’t the best experience.I understand businesses are getting back up and running following covid but just wanted to leave an honest review. We had really been looking forward to coming as the oyster catcher had been recommended to us whilst we were on holiday- disappointing experience in a beautiful location.

Lovely setting on a beautiful sunny evening. Nice decor. Poor service - disinterested, slow, unenthusiastic. Overpriced - £23.95 for surf and turf and then needed to pay £3.95 extra as no chips included. Sink in men’s toilets blocked, water all over the floor and unemptied bin with paper towels thrown on top. Similar in lady’s toilets according to my wife. Very disappointing all round.

Food was ok-ish. I ordered oysters to start but strangely when they arrived the juice that they come in had been completely drained and they were a strange texture. Whenever I go to a restaurant and I see oysters on offer I always order them but I have never tasted oysters like these, and not in a good way. Odd that this place is named after oysters. I told our waitress who just stated, "Oh I don't know. I've never had oysters myself". My steak and chips arrived. Steak was perfect but chips undercooked. Didn't bother telling waitress after her unhelpful answer to my previous complaint. Ordered an extra chips and picked through the two tins of chips and just ate the cooked ones. Ordered peppercorn sauce too but was only a tiny portion. We were booked in for tomorrow night too but I politely cancelled our reservation on the way out. Wouldn't recommend.

Went for a beer - all fine until you visit the Gents and this is what you see. There followed quite a heated exchange with the Duty Manager as I (strongly) suggested that it was a health hazard and the toilets should be closed. The trouble is that on my previous 3 visits (over a number of weeks) - I had complained about the state of the toilets but they seem to just ignore this and carry on as if it does not matter.... so now, sadly, I am resorting to Trip Advisor in the hope that the owners will finally do something about this.I did re-visit the following day to see if they had taken any notice - the Gents were still very sub-standard but better than the previous afternoon - although, as you can see from the last photo, one of the sinks was still blocked and there was still "fluid" on the floor - in any other situation a complaint would still be justified. Is this really what you expect? Not me!OC - you have a problem with the Gents... close them down until you get them sorted once and for all time.Any business is judged by the state of their toilets - airlines, train services, railway stations... you will be judged by your toilets and if this is the state you are prepared to leave them in then what about the kitchens? What about the staff toilets (which your duty manager would not let me see)?

From the outset, the welcome was warm and the staff friendly. The menu was extensive, but two items would never fail to catch my eye: Crispy Calamari to startand Steamed Mussels for a main courseMy partner ordered the same.Being “that kind of a day” we ordered a glass each of a white Zinfandel- ie rosé - which was very approachable and with a surprisingly low alcohol contentThe calamari arrived with an accompanying Marie-rose sauceA quick comment: THIS IS THE BEST CALAMARI WE’VE HAD IN THE UK!!The second act was the Mussels steamed with dry cider, whole grain mustard, cream and soft herbs- served in a large pot with the lid which flips over to take the discarded shells. So I did email the oyster catcher directly regarding our visit, to give them the opportunity to respond to me in person rather than posting a negative review on here. However it has been a month now and no one has bothered to reply to my email. This is what it said: Dear Oyster Catcher Team,I just wanted to drop you a line regarding our visit on Monday with our family. Having been regular customers of yours over the years, unfortunately our experience on this occasion was not a good one. I much prefer to let you know personally, rather than on trip advisor, to give you the benefit of the doubt that it was an unfortunate ‘one-off’. Whilst I appreciate that you were extremely short staffed due to your recent covid track and trace situation, I still feel there was no excuse for the bad experience we had.We arrived at around 5:45pm and wanted to sit outside - there were several free tables but all of them were covered in previous customers’ food and drink. I asked the girl at Pat’s Shack if someone could come and clean it. This was where our first issue arose - she was unfortunately one of the most miserable people I’ve ever come across in hospitality. Every time one of us had to speak to her she was rude and dismissive and it was very obvious she didn’t want to be there. I appreciate perhaps she was extremely busy but there is no excuse for her demeanour which was quite depressing for your customers who had come to enjoy a beer and a pizza in the sunshine. I also heard several other customers comment on her extreme negativity towards them. On the other hand, a very nice gentleman came out to clean a table for us (after I had moved all of the glasses/rubbish from it, which in the current covid circumstances is far from ideal!). He apologised for all of the mess and explained about you being short staffed. The second issue I wanted to raise is related to all of the rubbish strewn across the garden with the bins overflowing. On more than one occasion we witnessed some staff members standing around and chatting to one another. Given the fact that you were short staffed and apparently very busy, it seemed hard to believe that there was not a few minutes available when at least one member of staff could have collected the empty pizza boxes in a bin bag in order to make the outside garden area a more pleasant and hygienic dining experience for your guests. Due to all of the rubbish, the birds were horrendous, diving onto the tables next to us to retrieve leftovers. This simply wouldn’t have happened if a few minutes were spent devoted to this each hour. As I mentioned before, I completely understand that you have lost several members of staff due to isolation. However, I do not believe that is an excuse for the poor experience we had, both in terms of customer service from a member of staff and in terms of the rubbish. Our experience clearly wasn’t in keeping with current covid health and safety expectations and I wanted to raise the issues directly with you so that when we next visit our experience will be a more positive one. Our whole family are regular customers of yours and we will give you the benefit of the doubt that we were unlucky this time. Hopefully when we return your good service will resume.
