Ouzo and Olives in Gwynedd

The restaurant is currently closed due to Covid restrictions but they are selling Greek street food from a catering van outside. We had the giros, falafel, and halloumi pittas and ate them outside our hotel. They were fantastic and perfect for a light tea. All very tasty and our children enjoyed them too. We’ll definitely come back here.

My boyfriend and I were so impressed with the food and service here - so perfect! I had a halloumi gyros and he asked if they could make him one with pork and halloumi and they were happy to do that! The servers were so friendly and kind. The restaurant is currently shut due to covid, so we took our gyros onto the seafront outside the castle ❤️

We were really happy to find that despite a lot of places being shut due to Covid, they were serving Greek street food out of a van outside the restaurant. This was a really ingenious way to still serve the food in a Covid secure way. The food itself was delicious, I was just sad we ate it so quickly! The young man who served us was very polite and helpful explaining what each item contained. Would 100% recommend.

Limited menu due to take away only (Covid19) restrictions, but really tasty and lovely meal. Will need to return to the restaurant when open. Can recommend our meal this evening.

Came down from Manchester for the weekend and found Ouzo and Olive.Really glad we did, exceptional value. Fantastic food and amazing service.Some great highlights though all the food was great include the falafel, probably the best I'd had were moist and flavoursome. The beef and lamb koftas were melt in the mouth and the cheese bites were fantastic.Awesome Greek food at great value!Highly recommend

We found this place by chance walking through the town and what a great little find it was! The staff were super friendly and explained the menu for us. We went for the Meze with a few sides which really captured the taste of greek food. The calamari is a MUST have, I might even go as far as saying it was one of the best calamari I have ever had! If you are going for a dessert then go for the portokalopita, was really good. Thanks for a great birthday meal for my partner and friend. If we are ever back in Caernarfon we will be sure to come back.

We called in as it opened ordered the meze, but was disappointed in the quality it was bland...we are used to Greek food and this was not, it was a poor imitation the carafe of house wine was also overpriced and practically undrinkable

Incredible food, fantastic service! The food was delicious and could taste the flavour. A true Greek experience. The service was great and the food served really quick. The waitress and waiter were very polite and made us feel extra special as 2 of us had birthdays! A free shot of ouzo to top it off we can’t recommend it enough.

We chose primarily vegetarian mezes, a mixture of hot and cold ones and the food was really very good. The restaurant was empty, presumably because of the time of year but deserves to be packed out based on our experience. Wouldn’t hesitate to return

Everywhere really busy in Caernarfon on Friday in mid December. Always tricky for a wedding anniversary meal but this place was quiet. Food was great, mezze with interesting tasty dishes. Atmosphere maybe a little lacking but we had a nice meal.

As in the title, the Mezze was amazing - As a vegetarian it's sadly not often that when you eat out the food can be described as delicious - but this was. Staff were lovely too! Thankyou!!

We ate here while staying nearby. We’ve been to Greece a few times and eaten in Greek restaurants elsewhere in the UK. This place is very friendly and the food is very tasty and genuine. Moderately busy with a nice “hubbub” of atmosphere. Reasonably priced. We had the mixed Meze which is a good way to get a selection without hassle!

Well, what can i say! This was one of the best meals i’ve had for a long time. We visit Greece a lot and this was authentic, tasty Greek food which we washed down with a bottle of Retsina. Great value for money. Very helpful staff. Booking advisable as it was busy right from opening time. A little taste of Greece in Wales! Thank you

Happened upon this place by accident and couldn't have had a nicer evening. We were looked after like family from the moment we arrived. We all went for the mixed meze, washed down with a few carafs of house red which was a great choice. Food was delicious, great variety and excellent value for money. Looking forward to our next visit already.

Didn't have a reservation but managed to squeeze us in. Staff very friendly & helpful. Nice setting, typically Greek. Chose the set Maze for two, wonderful assortment, delicious & very reasonably priced. Highly recommended.

This restaurant is truly a gem. This quaint, fresh and vibrant restaurant offers a very authentic Greek atmosphere. With such a wide range of choice on the menu I found it difficult to make my selection. However, the staff are so friendly and welcoming and take time to walk you through the menu and discuss dish options to suit your taste. This is very helpful if you’re as indecisive as me or have not experienced Greek food before. The fusion of food that arrived was a delight and very different to anything I had experienced before. We had three courses and every dish was cooked to perfection by a very talented chef. We were there with friends, a total of 8 of us and the vibe was so good. It is perfect for small or large groups and everyone seemed to be having the best time. This lovely restaurant would make for an alternative Christmas Party venue option that won’t disappoint. The restaurant was full and sadly they had to turn many walk-ins away the night we were there so book in advance to avoid disappointment. This is a must try. You’ll love it

Não peçam o vinho, principalmente o da casa, pois apesar de constar ser grego, a gerência não apresentou a garrafa de onde o mesmo foi servido. Aliás, apesar de na carta constar ser grego, a gerência referiu ser francês e depois inglês.

Visited Ouzo and Olives for dinner with my partner and our friends (one of which is Greek) whilst on holiday in August. The reviews were extremely positive so we were keen to give it a go.

We have family that live locally to Caernarfon, and we tagged on another night to have a date night, just us, somewhere locally. We picked this place after the good reviews and were not disappointed.

Our family loves Greek Food so decided on the restaurant whilst on holiday near Caernarfon. We were not disappointed, the food was delicious and very authentic. Love the tapas style of small dishes so can try many items. Service was friendly and helpful. We'll worth the visit.

We went to this restaurant a few years ago and it was excellent. So when we were back in the area we were keen to return. I can confirm the food is still lovely, the vegetarian options are plentiful. We found the staff very attentive. Overall a lovely restaurant.

The food was lovely. For a family of four (2 adults an 2 teenagers) we opted for two set meze and a few extra dishes. This was more than enough. Food was as nice as I have had in Greece and in fact was the best meal of our holiday!

Lovely traditional Greek mezze. We thoroughly enjoyed everything we ordered and will be returning. Great service and in a lovely spot tucked away down a side street. Definitely worth a visit if you're in Caernarfon.

Really, really impressed with the food at Ouzo and Olives. We were a party of 12 and we all had the Mezze to share £16pp, very authentic, plenty of choice - I would honestly say that it's the best Greek meal I've had outside of Greece! In addition, my colleague is gluten free and there were plenty of gluten free options available too. Good choice of drinks.

We were taken here by our son, it was the first time at this wonderful greek restaurant, The Mezze style service is great. the welcome, service and the food where all above expectations, cant wait to go back, and as we are quite close by, that won't be to far in the future.

We had a selection of dishes between us and all were delicious. We were very impressed by the number of vegetarian options. The staff were very helpful and friendly, suggesting how many dishes we should get and talking us through the pudding options. Would definitely recommend!

Visited Ouzo &Olives; having seen it from outside on previous visit to Caernarfon. Booked 6.45 and only one other couple in but restaurant quickly filled and they were turning people away.

Website said food served until 9pm. Drove for half an hour to get there at 07:45pm to find it was shut. Very disappointed. They need to update the website with correct opening times.

My partner and I were very happy to find this little piece of Greece on a grey, rainy evening in Caernarfon. The service was very friendly and efficient whilst the food was delicious. We would definitely go again.

My partner and I enjoyed the set menu option at this wonderfully authentic Greek restaurant. It was a nicely balanced menu and the food was delicious. My partner enjoyed the house red. We found the staff very friendly and the food was provided in a timely fashion.

We didn't book a table, however the young lady who seemed to be doing everything but cooking ( maybe she did this to ) greeted us and asked us to pop back in half an hour. So we nipped for a quick beer and our table was good to go.

We ate at this restaurant , and the interior is just like being on holiday in Corfu, really Greek. Its not too big and can get very noisy if a party of people are eating, as it was when we went. The food is good, and the selection and service excellent.

A very pleasent overall experience , the full cold meze was very tasty , the lamb kebabs also tasty , the staff were very helpful and pleasent , pleased we had booked a table on the Friday night as people arriving later were not able to be seated

Booked an 8pm table on 16th February 2019 for our first visit to Ouso and Olive. The place was full and our little table was the only one vacant. It shows it's a good idea to book - even in February.

We visited ouzo and olives last night for the first time. Food was fantastic, traditional Meze menu. Bottles of mythos and Greek wine to wash it down. Service was great too - we will be back!

This was my first ever visit to a Greek restaurant and I certainly wasn’t disappointed. There was a very good choice on the menu, and the food was simply delicious. All the wines were Greek too, however, my favourite wine was missing - I very much hope to see Mavrodaphni on the menu one day as it’s simply the best. This is by no means a criticism, just a suggestion. It would certainly please all us sweet wine lovers! The restaurant was beautifully decorated and the staff were very friendly. I would say this is the best place to eat in Caernarfon. Highly recommended. I will certainly be back the next time I’m in the area.

We tried the set meze which was tasty but there could have been more. Whilst the staff were friendly, we visited at a quiet time and felt that the service could have been better. We were unsure when the meze had finished and were not offered a desert/coffee menu at the end. Overall tasty but expensive and not great service.

We stumbled upon this restaurant by chance and were very glad we had. We chose the set menu and was delighted with the selection of dishes. All of the food was freshly prepared and each course was different.

This restaurant is just simply the best. Always amazing food staff go that extra mile for you. A beautiful restaurant and very clean. Would definitely recommend the stiffado. My personal favourite. Always very happy leaving and very good value for your money. If you are living locally to this restaurant or visiting Snowdonia, I would suggest that you visit this special restaurant. Looking forward to visit this Christmas and taste something new on the Christmas menu. 5*

This is my 30th review here on TripAdvisor, and this time for my 42nd Birthday, me and a friend decided to visit the, 'Ouzo and Olives' (really authentic) Greek Restaurant in Caernarfon, North Wales. :)

We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner at Ouzo and Olives tonight. After a busy day of touring, the quiet atmosphere and appealing blue and white Mediterranean decor was just what we were seeking for a relaxing dinner. The Greek salads were fresh and delicious, and I particularly enjoyed the chicken souvlaki and the aubergine dishes. The tapas-sized portions were perfect for sharing. If you like Greek dishes you will not be disappointed, and the service was also excellent!

We ate here after visiting the castle and reading reviews on Trip Advisor. The menu selection was quite small but everything we had was delicious. The service was excellent and the meal was reasonably priced too.

Not far from the castle and tucked away down a little side street, very impressed with the quality and freshness of the food. The staff were very efficient and knowledgeable regarding the menu. The calamari was fabulous! Would definitely visit again.

Our favourite Greek restaurants in our town i.e. traditional, not "chain" have closed down so it was delightful to discover this gem whilst wen were on holiday.

I love a meze and so glad we decided to eat here. Booked in advance which I would recommend as they were turning people away and that was on a Thursday night. The restaurant was busy and hats off to the two waitresses who kept everything moving despite being rushed of their feet.

We were really looking forward to having good Greek food and enjoy family celebration as it was our daughters birthday. We called before hand to enquire if they cater for vegans. We were told yes they do so we booked!

Thankfully we'd researched this restaurant prior to visiting Caenarfon, otherwise we would have been none the wiser! It is tucked away in an alley off one of the little streets in the town centre, with only a very subtle sign to tell you where it is! However it is well worth finding, as we had a great time. Terrific, authentic Greek place, with traditional music playing in the background.

Came back again with my husband, and had another cracking evening. Wonderful food - we shared a platter of starters, and then ordered four individual plates as a main - all washed down with a very pleasing and very reasonably-priced bottle of Greek Red.

We tried to visit this restaurant on a Thursday evening 2 weeks ago, we were very quickly and rudely told that they would not offer us a table as we had not booked, there were about 8 people in the restaurant at that time! We will not be going back, the staff were very unwelcoming.

Party of 6 (4 adults, 2 teens) as a walk-in on a Saturday evening and not disappointed. Service was efficient and friendly, wine and beers good and chilled, and the food so very tasty we used the remainder of the bread to mop up the delicious sauces.

We were visiting Caernarfon overnight and decided on Ouzo and Olives after checking other menus on the same street. The food quality was fantastic. The spicy prawns in ouzo deserve a special mention. They were amazing. We shared 5 mezze dishes, tzatziki, pitta breads and a Greek salad along with two carafes of house wine between 2 of us for only £48. Great value and excellent quality.

A typically decorated Greek restaurant with a typical menu. Don’t be fooled by the tatty outside this place is worth the walk to find it, it’s set back from the street and easy to miss. We had the sharing starter platter that was excellent, then a variety of mezze dishes, the aubergine and potato dishes were particularly good. The orange dessert was spectacular. Staff were friendly and the place was busy for a week night. A hidden gem.

On a visit to Caernarfon we stumbled on a Greek restaurant and other than in Greece we’ve never been to one. It didn’t open till 18:30 and we were early so found a bar to kill some time. In the bar we spoke to a nice local chap and asked if he’d been to the ouzo and Olives and his reply was. We’ve tried on meany occasion and never been able to get in . So we were thinking we’re waiting for nothing. Anyway we did manage to get a table. The food and service was second to none. We had the set menu £15 each and there was plenty of delicious and piping hot food.

Great food Great atmosphere. Only downside it's North Wales and the local diners breaking out into their own language giving the beady unwelcome eye is off putting. Staff very friendly shame about the locals.

Simply furnished restaurant with decorative shells and fishing nets on the walls. The menu offers a range of meze dishes. We chose the set meze which is £15 per person (minimum of 2 people) and very good value. The service was friendly and efficient. We started with cold meze dishes which included houmous, butter beans in a tomato sauce (fasolia), dolmades and tzatziki. I especially enjoyed the houmous and butter beans. This was followed by large rings of tender breaded calamari, whitebait, falafel and, my favourite, filo pastry parcels filled with feta (tiropita). Then came the meat meze which included grilled chicken skewers, meatballs and stifado (beef with tender sweet onions). It was all fresh and delicious. Delightful meal full of gorgeous Greek flavours in the centre of Caernarfon. Recommended.

We were visiting Caernarfon for the weekend (12-13th May) and had not planned where to eat for the evening keeping our options open. We saw this wonderful little Greek restaurant on tripadvisor and due to the great reviews booked a table for 2 at 5pm to dine at 7pm. As it was my girlfriends birthday I mentioned this to them. On arrival at the beautiful authentic restaurant we were greeted by a lovely lady. The table had been decorated for my girlfriend. We opted for the meze. Wow. At £15 you would happily pay more. You are provided with about 16dishes in 3 stages all of which are beautiful. We love this style of food but I would say this is the best we’ve had. The friendly service throughout just made it even better. Thank you for a lovely evening. If we return to Caernarfon we will be sure to visit again.

Ate dinner here on Friday evening with a friend. Was very busy with couples, families and groups.

5 Adults, one infant and one 3 year old.Reasonable service, would have been nice to at least see/be greeted by proprietor(s), young waitress's polite and helpful, two of us had set menus, in one instance only one of the set menu dishes was provided (kalamari & whitebait) instead of two. Overall a pleasant enough experience, with ample food. Rest of party enjoyed their choices.

Came here with a friend for an evening meal and we were both very impressed by the quality of the food and the atmosphere. We got in despite booking last minute and the staff were all very welcoming. The food was fantastic! The best tzatziki I have ever tasted even having lived in Cyprus for 4 years. The set meze is extremely reasonably priced and the portions are very generous. Will most certainly be visiting again! Thank you :-)

Considering we booked several days in advance I was disappointed that they sat us in the worst seat imaginable, really cramped and near the door with a draft, I could barely fit in my seat and I am quite a slight person, we were very cold. The hot vegan options were very samey and boring; pasta, aubergine or potatoes in the same tomato sauce. One waitress was quite rude and definitely needed to work on her customer service.

We were amazed at how delicious and authentic the food was at this delightful restaurant . Coming from the Greek area of north London we have been to lots of Greek restaurants and weren’t expecting this to match but wow it totally delivered on flavour and taste , the Greek salad was exceptional . Full of authentic Greek flavour , the herbs , the feta , the olive oil and juicy tomatoes - tasted just like it does on the Greek islands . The tzatiki was delicious and the chicken so beautifully seasoned and cooked to perfection .

Not a bad little Greek restaurant, reasonably priced and nice staff. Suspect the rice was Uncle Bens packet tho. £15 a head mixed meze was ample.

This is my new favourite place to eat in the area! Unless you're on your own, go for the £15 Meze option (minimum 2 people) - basically a little bit of everything off the menu. The meat dishes were fantastic. Also went for the Baklava and Keydaif to share as a desert - incredible! Haven't been as satisfied after a meal for a long time. 10/10

This was a very pleasant find for us on a recent visit to Caernarfon. It was tucked down a road that could easily be missed if you do not know Caernarfon centre very well. Having discovered the place, we had to give it a whirl. This turned out to be a good decision. This traditional style Taverna and background music provided a very Greek ambience. The Meze was very tasty and well presented. There was a reasonable balance of meat and non-meat dishes. The portions were not significant but the Meze was enough to satisfy those with less than huge appetites.The service was good and the price a very satisfactory £15.00 per person for the Meze. Just one minor point is that given the amount of dip starter dishes served - there perhaps could have been more than one pitta bread for each person included. We did ask for more and was charged a further £1.20. This is a minor point but one worth noting, if you ask for more.

I visited with my family, we wanted something different from the norm and we certainly got it! In the best possible way!

Absolutely delicious meze! Couldn't fault anything. Great value for money too. The waitress was very helpful and worked extremely hard. We will definitely come back again on our next visit to Caernarfon. A shame we live so far away! Kids loved it too.

We had the set meze meal and although I originally thought there woukd be a few things I wouldn't eat, I tried and enjoyed everything. It was all incredibly tasty and we struggled to eat it all. A lovely restaurant with friendly staff. Woukd definitely recommend!

Had an absolutely fantastic meal here last night, food and drinks so reasonably priced! The food was second to non, fresh and very tasty, served by friendly, helpful staff. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and very clean. All in all a wonderful experience to be repeated, hopefully in the near future .......can't wait to visit again!!!

Although not full to capacity, it was warm and friendly inside. the food was excellent and plentiful....a great selection and well cooked. I had the Christmas " set meal" which was really good value for money. Staff friendly and no pressure to leave. A very evening.

I visited Ouzo and Olive tonight with my parents for the first time and we all agreed that we will definitely be returning. The food was fresh, traditional and delicious. The atmosphere was relaxed and pleasant and the staff where very pleasant and attentive. We come to the area often and will go as far as to say that this was the nicest evening meal we have had here. All meals and drinks were very reasonably priced. Cannot wait to come back again in the New Year.

We enjoyed an excellent meal here last week. It wasn't too busy so we were able to get a table without booking. The restaurant is light, airy and attractively decorated. It felt cozy on an autumnal evening but it would also be lovely to sit outside in warmer months. We ordered a mixed meze dish to share and some hot dishes to follow. All were delicious and tasted authentic and freshly-cooked. There was a very good choice of vegetarian dishes on the menu. The desserts were particularly good! The cost was very reasonable for three courses plus drinks. Service was friendly and not rushed. We would definitely visit again if in the area.
