Authentic food and a cozy spot. Sometimes the staff could be a little quick to try to clear the table which made you feel a little rushed however saying that they were always polite and courteous never rude about it. Will 100% be revisiting!

Made a lottery pick of a choice after a short walk in the nearby Chalet Woods and was pleasantly surprised by this restaurant. Food, Service, Ambience, full marks. Tried the falafel dish for starters, well seasoned, and the lamb shank I had and lamb burger were both top tier. With regards to my shank, soft and succulent, falling off the bone. Highly recommend, and we will be back.

Enjoyed a delicious meal at Otto’s. They have a lovely choice of starts, mains and desserts. The quality of ingredients was superb and the service was exceptional. They also offered us a complimentary plate of hummus and freshly baked bread. Really happy and can’t wait to return

We had lunch at Otto today, it was nice preparation, staff was very cordial, very quick service, place is quite spacious and nice interiors. We had ordered mezze for platter, spicy vegetable, mediterranean drink, baklava & Kazandibi which was upside down milk pudding with a carmelized top with cinnamon powder & ice cream, I didn’t find it same as I had once in Budapest. Baklava was superb. Mezze was nice - I primarily liked borek, falafel and aubergine ratatouille in the mezze platter. Their bread was nice & fresh. I liked the place, just little on expensive side when you eat all 3 courses & drink and come with family.

Very disappointing. Waited over 45 minutes for starters and then one was overcooked and one still partly frozen. My friend ended up very sick after eating in this place. Would not recommend.

I am embarrassed to say that I brought guests, only to have us all endure a tasteless meal. None of us enjoyed the experience, and the fact that I have been sick for 5 days since makes it even more regrettable. The 55 minute wait to be served only added further disappointment.

First Class, quality, quality, quality! Otto in Wanstead, continues to be our favourite restaurant for Turkish/Mediterranean cuisine. The food is exquisite. The lamb shish is tender and melts in your mouth, as is the lamb cutlets. I would recommend the prawns, avocado and crab starter, sumptuous indeed. We absolutely love the service, with great waiters who really do take service seriously. They never fail to make you feel special and a shout out to Charlie, for always looking after us. A great evening out for family and friends. The best restaurant in Wanstead, in our opinion. Oh and the raging fire, is enough to draw you to this restaurant on a cold night adding to the warm and atmosphere.

We last visited Otto in 2015 and didn't expect that our memories would be replicated, but we were wrong! Otto was as we remembered it - great food, lovely staff and a great atmosphere 😀 We all loved our return visit. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff, really professional and welcoming. The quality of the food was super and a really good menu. Thank you Otto 😊

Excellent food, although the avocado in my crab and prawn cocktail was a bit too hard and unripe, I thought. A slight mix-up with the ordering, however - my starter and my main arrived together. Service a bit slow, I thought, even allowing for the busy pre-Christmas period. Acoustics not great if there is a large and noisy party there. Still definitely worth trying, especially the Turkish beer.

This was a great place to visit for an evening meal. Lovely atmosphere, friendly staff and yummy food 😋. Decent portion sizes too. Highly recommended!

The place looks nice and cosy. However what let it down was the service. We ordered a mixed grill which was £24 and tiny portion. The rice was literally the tiniest amount. We spoke to the manager to say we didn't feel for the price, the portion was reflective. The manager was defensive saying he's served this same portion for 10 years! .We explained it's just feedback and that we've eaten in many places, to which again he was very defensive stating he doesnt know about what places we've been to but this is what they do. He did bring a bit of extra rice and the tiniest dessert bowl he uses to measure the rice to show us, which was not necessary. The food itself was OK, but I'm really disappointed in the way he dealt with our request and feedback. He was very arrogant and literally couldn't care less. We will not take our service here again. Can I add, we knew it wasn't a sharer dish and didn't expect it to come as such. Me and my colleague were happy to share one dish which wasn't sharer. We made our point clear that the rice portion was tiny even for one person at that price. The manager was clearly annoyed we hadn't ordered a dish each. 🙄

My partner and I went to Otto’s for lunch. The food was very nice. But what was outstanding, was the service received from Tibor- He was very pleasant, well mannered and provided a fist class service that made our experience this afternoon absolutely lovely. Thank you Tibor 🙂

Super food, attentive staff in a relaxed ambience and at sensible prices. I’ve been coming here for 8 or 9 years and it is consistently excellent. It’s my go-to in E11 to sit by the window and watch the world go by.

We haven’t eaten in Otto for a few years, Foods was nice however we felt rushed not even finished our main food and ask what we want for dessert, very surprised as there wasn’t many people in the restaurant, the restaurant was very cold when we got there, Manager put the fire on for 10mins then turned it off I did find the drinks a bit pricey 2 glasses of lemonade £13 I did notice a horrible smell of drains it seemed to be coming from the toilets down stairs I don’t think we will go back Please sort the awful smell of drains it must be putting customers off

I was persuaded to return by a friend of a friend who’d recently had a great meal. Starter was fine, nothing exceptional. My main course -Iskender, also fine. My sister’s was far below par and we said something when asked. The response from the waiter was in effect that the chef disagreed so what could he do? Bizarre to say the least and we absolutely will not be returning. So disappointed not only in the food but how we were treated when we dare call out less than great food. So, this place has not improved at all since it was taken over from the previous superb owner.

Had a Friday night dinner with friends here and the atmosphere was great. The food was delicious and really stood out from other Turkish restaurants, the meat was so tender and juicy and everything had great flavour. Was not a huge fan of the mocktail or dessert but it was presented nicely and a good portion.

I recently visited Otto Restaurant. The staff was amazing and very kind, the food was top quality and I really enjoyed my time. I would definitely recommend a visit to this restaurant.

Very attentive and professional service. Offering delicious Turkish-Mediterranean meze fare. Bifold windows mean you can sit inside and enjoy the good weather and fresh air, watching life of Wanstead high street tick by on a sunny evening.

Loved the food and staff, sat by the window and they offered to open the whole glass wall which was amazing as it was a sunny day. will need to revisit another time to enjoy the amazing bar they had.

Visited this restaurant many times and food has always been delicious and staff are lovely. My partner and I went for lunch yesterday and I ordered something I’ve never had before, a lamb stew. Asked the waiter if it was slow cooked and tender, he checked with the chef and he confirmed that it was. The reality was that the veg and meat were hard, the sauce watery and it tasted as if chilli powder had been thrown in and not cooked out. I gave t back to the waiter (who was lovely) then the manager came out and said that the food was good, I disagreed then he then left the table. We decided to order dessert as didn’t want to make an issue of the fact my meal was disappointing. The manager then came back out and started being very aggressive and said my dish was perfect to which I disagreed again, offered to take 30% off my dish to which I refused, it was all very uncomfortable, I said we’d visited many time before and never had a problem, we felt very embarrassed as other diners were in the restaurant. I don’t normally write reviews and I wouldn’t have today but felt I was treated badly by the manager .

I went to the restaurant to meet a friend of mine and have lunch. The food was really delicious and Matty, the waiter was super friendly. I felt immediately at home. Love the bar and the decoration as well. Can't wait to return!

One of the best Turkish restaurants I know... never had a bad meal or poor service, thoroughly recommended! Our go to restaurant when inviting friends out for dinner... 5 stars all the way and above!

We've eaten in Otto's many times over the years and never been disappointed. Food and service are invariably excellent and prices reasonable. The service charge added to the bill is at the low end of normal tipping and well deserved.

Great food, very reasonably priced, first class waiting staff and a lovely view out through the window. One of the very best places in Wanstead.

This is must place to visit. Menu is fantastic. It’s great value for money. Staff couldn’t do enough to make our evening special. Will definitely be back.

Looking for something different we ended up in the Otto Turkish Restaurant in Wanstead. Wow - what a wonderful experience we had! Beautiful ambiance, fantastic service and great food. Not to mention the excellent Turkish wine 👌🏼. We spent 4 hours in there and it felt like 20 Minutes. A fabulous and extensive menu means we shall return to explore the menu further. The service charge of 9.9% was a surprise as we usually we leave a good tip, so if we hadn’t seen this we would have double tipped! Be aware as they rely on intoxication!

This has been our regular go to mediterranean restaurant in Wanstead for some time. The food is always delicious but recently the manager's compulsory service charge for a table of 2 was somewhat steep and unfair. A table of 2 can chose to pay to service charge or leave a tip but instead the manager insisted we were incorrect. We paid this as he was quite persistent on this but feel as though this is unfair and greedy. Shame as a lovely restaurant in the heart of Wanstead High Street…

10 of my close friends came to celebrate a "big" birthday with me. We had the Party menu and were treated like royalty. The food and service was great - a lovely warm, family welcome from Otto's from start to finish. Everyone loved it. Thank you Otto's - you were completely brilliant. Karen

This is my favourite restaurant. I was introduced to Otto by my friend, as it is her favourite restaurant also. I visit here once a month because the food is always delicious and you always receive an excellent, friendly service.

Booked last minute for 2 and where kindly given a table within the hour. Staff where very warm, welcoming and attentive. Food was delicious and a nice size portion leaving you comfortably satisfied. We ordered mains - The Ozzo special chicken and the special lamb and aubergine. Both came with rice and one with salad. Would definitely recommend this place as the food was very well cooked and full of flavour. The lamb was tender and real treat. Thank you for the great service with a smile. A very lovely experience. We will be back :)

Went for a last minute lunch and was looking forward to it having been a regular when I was living in Wanstead. The intervening years have not been kind or was a one off that has ruined Otto. We had the vine leaves and prawns for starters and 3 lamb based dishes for mains along with the mussels. The main issue was the quality of the meat was inedible. The spicy lamb kofte was not kofte mince but the fatty chunks of lamb. What little meat there was consisted of the bone joints, as I mentioned it was inedible. The rest of the dish was made up of a couple of large chunks of broccoli and cauliflower thrown into a bland sauce with no spice only to be told that it must be my taste buds that didn't appreciate the culinary creativity of the meal. I tried the other dishes as mine was inedible and could tell the quality of the meat was bottom shelf. I haven't eaten all afternoon so was starving so tried to make the most of it and eat the sides but alas, this will be our last visit to Otto. Fortunately there isn't a shortage of Turkish restaurants in the local area waiting to take its place.

Excellent lunch yesterday. The owner took into account my aversion to chilli and recommended appropriate dishes. This is a classy place and Iskander was simply gorgeous. The desserts are to die for too. Will return. Staff great too.

It was quite a grown up place by the atmosphere and service, we were greeted by the staff in a very professional manner. They were keen to accommodate any requests and made sure we were treated well. The lighting used low voltage so it did seem dark and a bit difficult to see anything, but it was nicely decorated. The food itself was nicely presented, although a bit disappointed to learn they didn't serve bulgur, which I thought would be normal for a Turkish restaurant. The portions were smaller than usual for a similar meal at other places, but the quality made up for it. Parking might be a bit difficult as it is on a main road, it might be easier in the evening as the restrictions are eased up.

Lovely spot in Wanstead, their Otto Chicken with mushrooms is amazing, although this time I went for meat moussaka, which was surprisingly lovely! Their lunch set menu gives a nice options to choose, recommend choosing cheesecake for dessert.

Went for Christmas dinner in 2019, nice Christmas touch, crackers, water on table. Not now, squashed in, waiter didn’t bring what was promised, and unnecessarily noisy. Yes, I expect others to be chatting, but the music was intrusive. The food was sad, dry rice, seafood...

Lamb shank is the 2nd best I've had, although The Great Chase is in a separate league. This is a very good choice for a special occasion!

Some cousins suggested we eat here, and I was very impressed. Charming service and excellent food. Nothing was too much for the staff, and we did have some alterations. We will return I am sure!

The restaurant is a bit pricey for what it is. However, the staff are incredible. Every one of them is so kind and courteous - they really make you feel welcome and thankful for your custom. It's service you don't often get these days.

Used to really like this restaurant but we ordered 2 chicken Shish and garlic mushrooms to be delivered today. We used to pay about £35 -£40 but today it cost £54. Chicken shish used to be £13+ but now it’s £20+. I understand everything has gone up but £20 on a meal is way too much for working people. And a service charge of £2.50 what on earth is that for we didn’t eat in. Plus I always thought a service charge was optional but not the case here. Food was nice but we aren’t millionaires so won’t be ordering or going there again.

Decor is nice and cosy. One of the finer looking Turkish restaurants with a quiet and classy atmosphere. Service is good with friendly staff who care about making your experience that little more pleasant. Food is good. Well presented and is a decent portion size although somewhat pricey. £6.95 for a daiquiri? £5 would be the sweet spot 6 pushing it. Food tasted fresh and not over cooked or too much seasoning, but just can't justify the £25 for a mixed grill and then a further 10% service charge. Was surprised not to have been offered a complimentary sweet with the bill. Be it a turkish delight or a simple mint choc, no not here. Moreso baffled when I asked if Turkish tea was on offer and was responded with a negative. A Turkish restaurant without Turkish tea?! So overall 4/5.

I have dined in this restaurant several times in the last 2/3 years. I will not return. After the initial greeting and seating it was a downhill experience culminating in being overcharged.

Food is incredibly tasty and worth the price , you can swap chips for mash on your dishes. Complimentary shots at the end is given. My wife and I live this gem of a place.

Have been attending this restaurant for the last couple of years. Evening when on shift in the local hospital ordered my food from there. I attended on 2nd of September 22 either my other half and ordered a meal amounting to £81 plus 9.99%. After requesting the bill I ask for the service charge to be removed as I am within my right to. The manager then came over and and asked me if I was happy with the service. I said yes the food was lovely but on this occasion I would like the service charge removed. I was then told, “well if your not happy to pay service charge do not come back here and we will not accept any bookings from you”. I was taken aback as good customer service should be given as standard. I was disappointed to say the least. As they still got £81 from us. What I will be happy with is to take my money else where.

The real Turkish experience. I know it well because my wife is Turkish and I have been in Istanbul many times. We were served by Rafi, super attentive. Always paying attention to our needs. Food was great. I am not going to lie, the prices I saw at the menu weren’t cheap but with the inflation hitting us I am not sure anymore. What I can say is that I am used to go to a Turkish restaurant (the top ones are in Green Lane, near Turnpike Lane) and a nice grilled Seabream (my favourite fish) is between £15-17. Here the Seabass was £21. Again, not sure the current prices around yet. We arrived at 15:30 for a lunch and luckily we were just on time for the lunch set menu. It was fantastic! Check the pics of every single plate and the bill for prices! Same menu for evening is £5 more. Fair enough… Food was really good but more importantly, how freshly prepared all the chopped vegetables were. The restaurant atmosphere was outstanding. Super clean and welcoming. Same with toilets. Definitely we’ll come back again for the “a la carte” menu and review it again for Those high prices I saw. At the end we met the owner, Erol, yes like Errol Flint!. Such a great person and superb profesional. Old style welcoming, service and attention that nowadays looks totally gone. Desserts were good enough (not mind blowing) Lunch/ dinner set menu? Totally heads up!! You won’t be disappointed!

Awful customer service. Birthday meal ruined. I have eaten in the restaurant several times before and we regularly order via Uber Eats it has always been lovely. I won't be eating there again. I ordered a birthday meal at 17:36 via Uber Eats, it arrived at 18:17 STONE COLD and with some items undercooked. I initially complained to Uber Eats who blamed the restaurant. I called and spoke to the manager, Charlie, today who pushed back the complaint to Uber Eats. He didn't offer any form of compensation for 2 cold inedible mains and for the undercooked side I would have to come into o the restaurant and spend more money. Nor a sincere apology for a ruined birthday meal. We spent £46 on a cold inedible/unenjoyable meal. I have also had to spend several hours being pushed from pillar to post as no one takes responsibility for fixing the issues. Customer service is non existent. Working as an Event Manager and having been recently venue based in Carnaby Street I can absolutely say I would NEVER leave a repeat customer so unhappy. Word of mouth from unhappy customers is extremely damaging. Previously I would have been happy to recommend this venue but due now primarily to the managers handling of my complaint this will now not be the case. A customer with a ruined birthday is not going to forget quickly. In a cost of living crisis, a customer willing to spend with you should be appreciated.

Very nice food. Tasted and fresh. The grilled prawns were very much enjoyed by daughters. And service was excellent. You do pay for the location though so a bit expensive. Would return and I would recommend for a nice cozy dinner.

Otto is a very friendly Turkish restaurant, with a very good menu, great wines and the service staff are both knowledgeable and efficient. The seating, by the huge open front is wonderful in the summer evenings for a bit of (smug) people watching as you wile away an hour or two. Would definitely recommend a meal here.

Mouth wateringly delicious food. The staff were all very friendly and accommodating. Definitely going to try the Sea Bass Stew on our next visit ☺️
