Amazing food and fabulous selection of craft beers.

First time visiting this place as another pub had no availability for 2 of us to eat. I'm so glad they didn't! I ordered the 3 meat roast, and it was gorgeous. The roast pork was so good, I haven't stopped thinking about it since lol. The staff were fab, drinks were great and we can't wait to go back :)

Best pub for miles. Cask beers good food, excellent service. What more could you ask for?

This pub is honestly amazing. From the people, to the beer and the food you won't be disappointed. Their baguettes are out of this world and incredible value for money. The downstairs is pub like and dog friendly and the upstairs more of a restaurant and isn't dog friendly. You won't ever regret a visit here!

Called in for a meal, and the food was absolutely brilliant. They also have a large selection of craft beers, and all the staff were very polite and friendly. If we are in the area again, then we would definitely call in again.

Had our Christmas meal Saturday night & food was excellent. Considering the amount of people they were catering for & how busy the pub was, quality of the food & presentation was first class & all hot throughout. Staff worked very hard. Can be a bit noisy but all adds to the atmosphere & quality ales as usual.

Helter-Skelter was great, good atmosphere and drinks, had a meal in Oswalds - that was really good. Would recommend and will be going back. Introduced the place to friends and they really enjoyed the meal.

This place never stops giving. We have been working our way the the menu, but it keeps changing.🤪 Our last dish to taste was Seabass with smoked salmon and baby prawns in a creamy white wine sauce with garlic dauphinoise potatoes. This goes waaaaay beyond average pub food.

I celebrated my 70th birthday at the Helter-skelter With 17 guests last night food was wonderful staff brilliant thank you.

Lovely lunch with a few friends. Food great, Speciality beers (evidently....I'm not a fan personally, but a couple of the men in our group live them!). Not especially expensive either.

Food was delicious. Duck spring rolls qere the best I have ever eaten. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. Thoroughly enjoyed and would definately recommend.

This is real ale heaven. Huge range of beers. Only complaint being only one bitter and a lot of strong beers. Ate here a while back in the upstairs room. Yum. Can get noisy for old people like Paulicarus and I. The type of pub you can live in and beer will come too you. Tv's for footie etc.

We had a beautiful lunch in the bar. The two young men behind the bar were very friendly. One even brought our dog a bowl of water. The food was delicious, we all really enjoyed our meal.

Can get a little busy at times. But lots of good quality beers. Pleasant place to visit.

Amazing food! This is not pub grub, this is the real deal.. Service was relaxed and friendly. Tables are perfectly spaced and the decor has a very nice touch. Can't believe I've not been here before and will definitely be going again.

Always a great place for food and well kept cask ales. Reliably varied tipples on cask and keg.

First time eating at the helter skelter, had to ask for table to be cleaned, good service good food, but do not like eating in an area where dogs are allowed and customers giving food to the dog.dogs should be kept to one area and not by tables with people eating.

This was our second outing since the restrictions were lifted on 17th May. I was very anxious but was reassured everything would be fine. Everything was better than fine! Our seating area was excellently laid out, avoiding other customers in too close a proximity and made me feel secure. The toilets had been redecorating and were lovely, including the ornamental animals which were just fab! I expected the food to be good but it was beautiful. We all commented on how lovely our meals were. Shepherds pie, Ox cheek, Steak and Ale Pie and Buttermilk Chicken Fillet.

Really had a lovely evening food excellent reasonable priced service relaxed atmosphere. Real ale bar good choice of wine could not fault service. I would definitely visit again when I come to Frodsham.

Always a welcome stop off for a few drinks after a game of hockey in Wales or on the Wirral. Great vibe, chilled staff and an excellent choice of beers.

Upstairs is a bit grim so we always eat in the bar. Great selection of beers and a lively vibe. Food is always really good, very well cooked British pub food. Lovely pie, great lamb, excellent fish and chips. Gets a bit full which tells you how good it is. Don’t miss it.

I've been to the bar several times, but only recently tried the restaurant upstairs. Other reviewers mention the poor decor etc, but, having had a few drinks, I can't say I noticed. My friends and I all enjoyed our meal - I had the Ale battered haddock, which I thought was very good.

Food is fine. They have ceiling fans which are filthy as are the light fittings all hanging above the tables in clear view. They could easily be cleaned. The wall and ceiling coverings are from the 70s. Service was ok. Food was good. Soulless room such a shame

Having dined at Oswalds for nearly 10yrs I have not experienced anything other than excellent homemade food.. This has again been confirmed by the meal my friend and myself had this evening. The Thai fishcakes are wonderful and as for homemade cheesecake, delicious!! The staff are always attentive and are provide excellent customer service. It is a little gem of a family restaurant!!

Went for dinner as hadn’t been here for quite a while. It seems that nothing has changed. For a restaurant in a small town you’d think they would want to lift their game and provide a place with good service and great food. Neither hit the mark. It’s such a shame.Decor is awful, service bad, food mediocre.

We had a very nice Sunday lunch there, roast lamb and Thai fishcakes, very well made, always a pleasure.

We decided all to meet here because of its atmosphere and its selection of beers and seating arrangements for 6 people to share a few tales not having met for 6 months.

We have been there many times and never had a poor meal. A great selection of ales in the bar downstairs. Much recommended.

Almost walked out of the pub when I saw the state of the stools and benches but as I was waiting for a train decided to stay,a good decision the food was the best I’ve had in frodsham,5 for the food 2 for the seats

Visited this resturant tonight for a family meal. Starters were fine. We all ordered steak. One was not at all good and we complained and were not charged for it. However when we paid the bill this was split 2 ways and paid 1 half by card and the 2nd half was paid cash and the waitress took the cash and all seemed ok we thought but then she returned saying that the cash was short by 10 pounds. We are not impressed by the way we were treated and frankly this restaurant is overated and need to look at how they treat customers. Will not return.

We have been here a while ago whilst visiting the area & it was a good place to meet up with friends for dinner.

We thoroughly enjoyed our family meal here yesterday. The food was fabulous and the service was excellent despite there being a couple of large parties in as well as some smaller tables. The photos speak for themselves.

Superb; ale, beer & Lagers, small brewery ales are always available with a good choice to choose from. very good bar food to be had, well run and managed with friendly staff. Dogs welcome (except in the upstairs restaurant - "Oswalds"). The upstairs restaurant is usually fully booked at the weekends, but well worth booking, excellent food and service. 4.9 stars

If it’s a Sunday dinner your after then you can’t go wrong with dinner at oswalds@helterskelter their Sunday lunch is amazing!! Really tasty, roast potatoes, Yorkshire pudding, lamb and veg! You can’t go wrong with Sunday lunch here I’d recommend it to everyone, fantastic sticky toffee pudding for dessert if you can fit it in. Service was great too just a really nice atmosphere to chill out and catch up with family make sure you give them a try

Fabulous meal for our 25th wedding anniversary. First time we have visited even though we live fairly local. Would highly recommend and will be back again soon, hopefully!

Ended up at a Hotel in Frodsham whilst on a Work assignment, Hotel Food didn't seem too appealing and found this whilst googling. Absolute gem of a place, great ambience even on a Tuesday Evening, excellent Meal and great value.

Helter Skelter bar has the best range of beers I’ve seen in a long time and the bar was packed. We had a table booked for dinner in Oswalds, up stairs. Don’t be put off by the look of the room, a bit utilitarian, the food was very tasty indeed and good sized portions.

Excellent selection of top quality real ales and continental lagers. Good quality reasonably priced food also served in the bar (dog friendly) and in Oswalds, the upstairs restaurant.

We dined here again last Saturday evening as a party of 8. The choice on the menu was extensive, we chose starters and mains, the food was delicious and piping hot. All of us thoroughly enjoyed everything. The portions are on the larger size which is great for those that like to feel full once they've eaten!! All of the young staff are lovely, very polite and friendly. Highly recommend again.

It has been some time since we visited, but the food is still really enjoyable, and on the menu there are combination of flavours that you do not find elsewhere, in restaurants belonging to chains. It was so nice to enjoy the quality and freshness of the food. We will see you again soon!!

I thought just a friend and I were going for a quiet birthday meal ? I didn't expect all my friends to be there waiting for me , we had a really delicious meal and drinks with a fab cake and all in a great atmosphere thanks for making it so special

Visited prior to heading home - good atmosphere and excellent range of beers to suit almost all tastes. Enjoyed it and would like to try the food.

Came here last Sunday with family for dinner. Booked a table online for 5, easy enough to do. The choice on the menu was extensive, in fact it was a little difficult to choose what to have as it all sounded lovely. You can have 2 courses or 3 courses, you don't have to decide upfront. All of our food was excellent, ample portion size and piping hot. The service was fantastic, the young ladies were fab. Highly recommend and we will definitely be eating here again.

We went for a family meal here for our sons birthday and it was BRILLIANT. Food was gorgeous and hot and sooo tasty. Service was excellent and would thoroughly recommend this restaurant to all x

8 of us came here after a walk in Delamere Forest. One of us is Coeliac, which can be a problem sometimes, but there was good choice and understanding on the part of the staff. The food was of a very high standard and good value. The room was spacious with quiet unobtrusive music playing. There is a pub downstairs with great craft beers which went down very well with some of our party!

Booked this a couple of weeks ago for 13 of us, had rang a few times to check things always helpful and friendly. I dropped balloons off earlier in the day the staff are so friendly and accomodating. The food was ordered from a good memu offering and arrived all at the same time and it was gorgeous, cooked to perfection and so tasty, and not too big servings so there was room for pud! prices are reasonable, the room is quite noisey due to the high ceilings and there was a full restaurant that night. Mum really enjoyed it, that was the main thing. Thankyou again to the staff and I would highly recommend and would return.

which are always lovely BUT went for dinner last night. I had cod with seafood linguine. My friend had duck. Absolutely delicious and HUGE portions.

We have just returned from a fabulous meal at Oswalds. There were 10 of us and a baby, the meal and service were fantastic. Everybody enjoyed a starter and main course and we were all impressed with our food. The menu was varied and met gluten free and vegetarian needs within our family with lots of choices. Desserts looked amazing but we were all full!!

Enjoyed a very pleasant meal this evening with my daughter. Looked like it would be good when the bar area was so busy, Very quick & friendly service, hot, well presented food which was tasty & really large portions. We had a classic burger with bacon & cheese and a fish goujons burger with sweet potato fries, both served with fresh dressed salads. Thanks for a great dining experience

Oswald's is a restaurant you have to try ... the menu is vast, plenty of gluten free options and the food is always of a high standard. Staff are attentive and the beer from Helter Skelter is the best around for miles

Attended a working dinner here last month, mainly discussion! Staff were excellent without being intrusive. We all had different. I chose a beef course which was so tender. Some toast potatoes too and veg of course. Well cooked and nicely served.

Four of us called in on Monday afternoon for a drink and some food. Unfortunately, we were told they dont food on a Monday anymore.

Visited for Sunday lunch with family. Six adults and 2 young children. Never have we seen such an appetising and mouthwatering menu! Lovely clean place, lovely staff.

I had toasted cheddar cheese bloomer with fresh salad and lovely thin sweet potato fries. Hubby had roast beef sandwich with salad and sweet potato fries. Friendly pub, good choice of real ales and knowledgable bar staff.

Absolutely fantastic place with a great selection of drinks and a lively atmosphere

We've had a full meal here once before, with a bar snack in between (a bowl of chips). On all three occasions, we were thoroughly bowled over by the quality of the food. The steak in the Steak and Ale pie just melts in your mouth, and the chips that this place serves are to die for. If you eat here, don't miss out on the soup of the day, particularly if it happens to be Tomato and Sweet Chili. The chef excels on soups. It's not a cheap restaurant, but when you take into account the quality of the food, well... That makes it excellent value. Add to this the selection of real ales from the bar below and you have one of the finest culinary treats in Cheshire.

What can I say! Still is and always will be our favourite restaurant. The service and food was again top notch and we enjoyed every mouthful. Will be returning again in the near future.

It’s been a few years since we last visited

First ever visit to Oswalds and certainly won't be the last! Four of us ate from the set price lunch menu, fully intending to have 3 courses at £14.50 which we considered an excellent deal. As it was we could all only manage two courses as the portions were so generous. We each had different starters and mains and not one of us was disappointed. The food was absolutely delicious. Staff were lovely too. Well done Oswalds@HelterSkelter- 4 happy customers who will return.

Family get to get her end of January for lunch. Was extremely good, well cooked food with plenty of choices plus a children’s menu. Also choices for the vegetarians. Some years since I visited this place but will be back shortly. Also plenty of parking around this venue with only a very short walk to the venue.

Oswalds is above the Helter Skelter Bar. The same great food (and drink) is served in both, but upstairs in Oswalds is obviously much quieter, as the bar can get very busy. Large menu choice. Widest range of drinks in this area. Best booking a table rather than just turning up.
