Orles Barn Hotel Restaurant in Herefordshire, County of

I had the pleasure to spend two nights here whilst taking a break. Booked for dinner on the first night for convenience but the food was so amazing that did not go anywhere else to eat. The quality of the rooms and the food is second to none and the hosts are so welcoming and friendly. Will be going back and stay - just to enjoy the breakfast and dinner again.

We were staying at a B&B in the area and this restaurant was recommended to us. We are so glad we chose Orles Barn and our experience there was 5* from start to finish, including the friendly waiter hanging up our coats. The food was superb and beautifully presented. We followed the waiter's recommendation of the homemade Toblerone cheesecake for dessert. I can usually take or leave Toblerone and cheesecake, but this was heavenly! It was a wonderful meal and experience.

Beautiful building that I have wanted to visit for many years and was fortunate to visit with my husband and son, due to our usual restaurant being unavailable. How lucky were we (sorry usual place, but you will not be dumped) 😁 What stunning food in a relaxed well run restaurant, the steak was so tender and tasty, from starters through to main meal, mega crispy side order of chips and excellent dessert, and delicious merlot, the service was beyond 5 star and we wish we lived closer to return on a regular basis but we will return. Thank you everyone from the valleys 😂

This place is exceptional. We are both vegetarian and used to not being the focus of a restaurant’s cuisine. This food was amazing, my partner who has been a vegetarian for 34 year’s says this is the best food she has had at a restaurant. I gather from the reviews that the rest of the chaos r is to the same standard. They keep their menu simple which I was fond reassuring and obviously everything is freshly prepared.

Lovely ambience from the moment you walk into the residence and then the lovely characterful restaurant which is understated but relaxing in nature. Wonderful high quality cuisine and accompanying wine choices make for a sumptuous evening as you explore a culinary delight. I had the duck starter and my beau the lovely leek and potato soup with added haddock pieces both were very tasty. For main I had the Welsh lamb and also the beef for my lovely lady the lamb with accompanying pea shouts wonderfully tasty jus and a side of seasonal vedge made for perfect mains. A lovely bottle of Barolo helped wash down the three courses which culminated with the simply delicious Toblerone cheese cake with fresh black cherries and Chantily cream. You need to visit this superb restaurant to appreciate the wonderful locally sourced produce and go away feeling replete and also pampered by the host Roxy and her wonderful chef husband Matt. Thank you both for a wonderful culinary adventure we aim to return in the Spring/Summer to appreciate some further super Ross on Wye hospitality.

Blown away by how good my stay was. I loved it. Ate in the restaurant, Roxy lit the open fire in the cosy bar area which instantly gave a warm atmosphere to match her hospitality. The food is outstanding. I plan to make a special trip to visit again.

My husband and I recently spent the weekend at Orles Barn, and thoroughly enjoyed our stay! On arrival we were met by Roxy, a very friendly and helpful host. Our room was perfect, including everything needed for a stay... kettle, teas/coffees, robes, ironing board, hairdryer etc. The food was wonderfully presented and absolutely delicious. We could not fault our weekend away at Orles Barn. We would definitely return and recommend.

We have visited Orles Barn on a number of occasions in the last few years, and our last visit was on a voucher gifted to us by some friends (They know it's our favourite place to eat!!!). There are 2 main reasons why we would always choose Orles Barn. The first is the great customer service. We are vegetarians and owner Roxy, is always so accommodating of our requirements. We always receive a great welcome in the bar for a pre dinner drink, and during the meal all of the staff are so attentive which makes such a difference! You really feel that they want you to have the best evening. The second reason that we love Orles Barn is that the food is so delicious! We have never had a bad meal. Although the menu is modern, there is plenty on the plate to satisfy. We had three courses this time, and we felt we couldn't have eaten any more. So if you are considering a meal or a stay at Orles Barn, I would urge you to go ahead and book! Thank you Matt and Roxy, we hope to see you again soon!

We arrived at Orles Barn during the afternoon and received a warm welcome from the host, Roxy. She showed us to our room which was light, airy and immaculately presented. We wandered down to one of the local pubs and spent a few hours taking in the river views. We arrived in the bar area of Orles Barn at 1830 and were this time greeted by a very lovely female member of the bar staff. She looked after us and we relaxed drinking a very tasty G and T. when we were ready we were showed to a lovely window table and had an absolutely fantastic meal. ( The Beef was EXCEPTIONAL). A first class meal with first class service. Our bed was super king and so comfortable. quality bed linen to match. This morning we had a very substantial breakfast before leaving for home. We had a delightful time and would revisit in a heartbeat. Thank you Roxy and your quality team.

This was our first visit to Orles Barn having been recommended by a friend. It was fantastic, the food was delicious, the service was excellent and the restaurant itself was delightful. My wife and I were celebrating our 30th Wedding Anniversary and wanted to go somewhere special and Orles Barn ticked all the boxes. I had the duck starter and my wife had the salmon & dill roulade. We both had the Herefordshire Roast Beef for the main and the Toblerone Cheesecake dessert. It was all beautifully presented and extremely tasty. We thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience and will be returning very soon.

This is an amazing hotel and restaurant. Booked in here for a tow day stay. Room was very well appointed and spotlessly clean. Great staff and amazing care taken by the owner Roxy. Booked for dinner on the first night and ended booking to eat both nights of stay. Restaurant evening meal was amazing - great choice, superb presentation five star quality with excellent service, Super lounge bar for that pre-dinner drink. Breakfast was also fantastic. I would travel to area again just to stay and eat here.

We stayed in a B & B in Ross on Wye and the owners recomended the Barn. We sat in a lovely cosy lounge and had a drink before supper. The meal was delicious. I wish I had stayed in the hotel. The owner/ host was delightful. We also had a lovely bottle of champagne.

Orles Barn is a gem. It’s a family run business and feels welcoming from the start when Roxy checks you in. Our room was very clean and comfortable with a view of the back garden. Bathroom was modern, clean and everything worked first time.Dinner was first class, with quality cooking and good sized portions, my duck breast was delicious! The wine list is not overly long, but is well thought so has something for everyone’s taste and is sensibly priced. Breakfast was excellent too, the local sausages and bacon were really top quality!Orles barn is close to the River Wye and a lovely 20 minute walk along the riverside to get to Ross-on-Wye. Roxy is so friendly and helpful, she is always on hand; she makes your stay a genuine pleasure! Her husband cooks up a storm in the kitchen. A great partnership.

We had dinner at Orles Barn on 17/09. We were staying at Glewstone Court - a nearby country house hotel - but as we we were late in booking a room they couldn't accommodate us for dinner. I'm so glad they couldn't, as I don't believe they could have matched the excellent cooking and service offered by Roxy, Matt and their team. It's rare to get such tasty and well-presented food. All round excellence. Very welcoming, beautifully decorated, lovely bedroom with a great view, and above all delicious food beautifully presented. Roxy and Matt together with their 'backroom staff' and two young other members of staff provided great hospitality in a really friendly but efficient manner.

A lovely weeks stay at Orles Barn whilst we visited the beautiful surrounding areas of Ross On Wye. Cannot fault the hospitality provided by Roxy & Matt, where nothing seemed to be too much trouble. Delicious food at all times, with great service by Roxy and her team and immaculate housekeeping services meant that we had the best experience for some considerable time during our stay, bearing in mind it has been such a tough time for hospitality during the pandemic. We wish them every success with Orles Barn. We will definitely be back!

The restaurant is bright and fresh on the back of the hotel with a lovely garden and distant countryside view. The service is efficient, friendly and discreet. The food is OUTSTANDING. Beautifully presented and delicious, so good we had 3 courses for the first time in years. Trio of smoked salmon with different accompaniments, whole filleted bass with dill mousse and creme brulee with poached pear and chocolate sorbe. Perfect portions and attention to detail. This is THE place to go if you love wonderful food, amazing wine and great service. My husband and I were so impressed with the quality of the food and their Romanian wines were exceptional. The lamb, feta and pine nut filo parcel was one of the tastiest dishes I’ve ever eaten. My husband’s steak was melt in the mouth and cooked to perfection. The staff were professional and friendly and were a credit to the business. So good we booked another table almost immediately. A real must visit when you are in Ross-on-Wye.
