We have eaten here many times over the last few months. The atmosphere is very relaxed and friendly and the food every time has been outstanding. Our favourite dishes are the soft shell crab,the duck which is very tender and tasty the prawns without shell are delicious.The food is very reasonably priced

Another fabulous evening out with hosts Helen and Phil ! Soft Shell Crab, Sweet ad Sour Pork Lots of Chow Mein. We have been coming here since it opened 8 years ago and it has always been the best Chinese food we have eaten, even when in Singapore!! Many congratulation to a fine chef and the team!

Went with a group of friends on a Wednesday. Friendly staff at a lovely little restaurant food was outstanding and reasonably priced, best we have tried in Hull. Frequented by Chinese people often. We will definitely be returning

The Restaurant was quiet but that was fine, social distances were observed at all times.I ordered a meal not on the menu that was cooked to perfection and arrived very quickly, my partners meal was excellent as well.Karen had checked out the reviews for this place and the Oriental Palace certainly lived up to the reviews.We will be back, the bill was around £30, good value for money.

If I could rate this place more than 5 stars I would, we waited for 10 mins for our food to arrive. The food was A1 tender beef and full of flavour, the staff were very helpful and friendly always asked if we wanted a drink and to see if our food was alright I'd definitely recommend this place to anyone

Fantastic food. Quite busy so a wait was to be expected. Cold beer, green tea good. Crispy chilli beef outstanding, some of the best I’ve ever had anywhere. Chicken with yellow bean sauce terrific. Mixed starter brilliant.

I really enjoyed the large menu. Plenty of options for all tastes. Dim sum only available until 5pm, so we came back the following day for dumplings. Nothing fancy, just decently-priced, solid food. We will certainly return!

I've been to Oriental Palace a few times now, both dine in and take away. I have been impressed with the food every time. Also the staff are smiley and happy and don't seem to stop.

So far I have not found a better place to eat traditional Chinese food, their customer service is great, always have a smile and are polite. The duck, pork belly and chicken are to die for, couldn’t recommend here enough!

Go to this restaurant once a month and got to say the quality of food and speed of service is really good. If you enjoy Chinese food, worth visiting.

I've been here a few times and the food is consistently excellent. Good size, reasonably priced, tasty portions on main meals. Dim sums are also excellent when I popped in for lunch. Take away and delivery also available.

We often come here for Lunch on Sundays. The Dimsum is always good and the service is friendly and efficient. It is unbeatable good value for money.

As the title suggests, we went for the first time for ours, ordered all different items, which was cooked fresh and very tasty. Only thing I would I would change next time we go is to go later,(we went around 6pm on a Sunday too) and was busy people picking up take-aways.

We eat here every few months as a family with 2 teenage children. Despite having some faddy eaters there are always things on the menu for everyone. A large proprotion of the clientelle are Chinese and so it must be OK. I often get the impression that the Chinese people get a different menu, but maybe I just haven't figured out how to order an authenic mix of dishes.

Arrived at 20:00 without a reservation and the restraunt was about half full so we were easily seated. There was a choice of a main menu and a set menu. We went with the main menu and decided on skipping staters and went with two main meals off salt and pepper prawns and squid, with a second main off Beef old mamma style. With a special fried rice. There is a good selection off drinks available but we went with Chinese tea for two. We received complementary prawn crackers whilst we waited for our meals to arrive which they did quickly in around ten minutes. The salt and pepper prawns and squid was nice and crispy. The beef was in a chilly style sauce which was nice and flavorful without being too spicy. The bill came up to £26.10 which is a great price for a meal for two including drinks. Would definitely go back again

I had a wanting for Chinese food and did not want to get a takeaway, but living in Elloughton meant having to drive. We had previously been to one in Hessle but it had little in atmosphere (only us in the place) so we ended up driving around and ended up near the Avenues as I knew there was one there but it was closed. I drove onto Beverley Road and spyed this little restaurant out of the corner of my eye. We parked up and crossed over to go in but it was empty my heart dropped but as we were starving we went in anyway. I’m so glad we did it was very good and it soon filled up, us being the only non Chinese diners. We had a plate of prawn crackers, a starter each and a main each with rice, two drinks each and the whole bill came to only £42. Will definately return and take my parents for a truely authentic Chinese.

A proper Chinese restaurant frequented by chinese diners (always a good sign). Food was amazing. Best Chinese food I have had in ages . If not, ever. The service was good . Food arrived quickly. Kids were given a fork although I wanted to try the chopsticks. I tried chinese tea. That was lovely . They also do take away and deliver service so I can see me frequenting it! I've been here several times now and each time left happy and satisfied. The dim sum and the hot pot (when on offer) are favourites of mine.

It was such a wonderful experience dinning at this restaurant. The staff are friendly and the menu is extremely extensive! The portions were big and the flavours were good, as well as it being affordable. Everything was truly tasty. Thank you for a great experience!

This is my favourite Chinese restaurant in Hull. As a Chinese I think the food is very authentic Chinese style. Staff are quite friendly and the food is always served very fast. However they don’t accept payment with cards. The food is a bit too salty sometimes.

Went with my partner after we read the menu outside. Nice clean place. We just got two mains, very tasty food and big portions. Service was ok. Hong Kong style tea was very nice too.

An extensive menu meant we were spoilt for choice. I am trying to do low carb so had the casserole to avoid rice or noodles and there was plenty and no need for anything else.

Fuimos a almorzar un domingo y estaba muy concurrido. El servicio era bueno y platos salió en diferentes épocas para diferentes personas que ruinas el punto de una comida familiar. La comida era buena, pero no excelente con sosa, más patatas fritas chow mein cocinado y seco de pollo. También es efectivo sólo y no es barato para lo que te dan. Otros en Hull son mucho mejor, pero es decente y merece la pena probarlo.

Been a Couple of times already and it's our family favourite when in Hull. Service unusual for a Chinese as they are mostly quite abrupt for my liking but not there. Food genuine Chinese as it should be, well priced, we will be back Soon

Teníamos comida suficiente o increíble a un precio razonable y que ahora se han convertido en clientes habituales. No solemos compartir comentarios con otros, pero este sitio tiene que ser probada. La carne crujiente chili es el mejor de todos y el equipaje y pato están allí.

Paramos aquí para una cena. Mi 2 adultos niños, mi hijo menor y yo. Tuvimos la suerte de estar sentados enseguida, y nuestro pedido de comida fue tomado rápidamente. Cuando llegamos, estaba muy fresca y sabrosa, el personal era muy agradable y servicial, en general, una experiencia de cinco estrellas para comer. Las raciones son considerables, no podría gestionar todos, pero el último plato fue llevado lejos para después. La cuenta fue muy razonable.

Second time in a row it's been 1:30 hours on a Sunday night. Food was ok but it doesn't help when it's so late

Fabulous food and lots of it cooked very very well with friendly helpful staff make this restaurant a must go to venue. The mixed sharing starter is quite a meal in itself. I had the squid and prawn in chilli crispy batter. Absolutely fantastic. Highly recommend. The service was fab. Special diet needs (allergy) were catered for with no fuss. The 4 stars would have been 5 but the pancakes for the shredded duck were cold. Staff changed them with no bother when told. Just a shame they had to. Price of food was very reasonable about £7:50 a dish on average. Drinks were a bit pricy £3:50 a bottle of beer and £2 for a can of Coke. I will be back, with friends to show off this fabulous Chinese cuisine discovery. Do try it. Enjoy!

Lunch time, yet again great food and service. Staff very friendly and helpful. There is always a generous quantity and it is of very good quality, would certainly recommend and go again. Would particularly recommend salt and chilli squid, the three roasties and shredded pork and aubergine casserole.

My daughter is at Hull university and everytime we visit her we eat at this restaurant. It is like a pilgrimage! The food is absolutely awesome, the portion sizes are sizeable. The service too is very good. The whole family loves it and we always remark on how amazing it is

Went to Oriental palace this evening for a quick bite to eat and the staff were fantastic. The food was lovely especially some of the more authentic dishes. We will be returning to try this out again very soon!

This place has plenty to offer on their menu which includes the dim sum. We have been there on a few occasions in the past and this Bank Holiday twice. Once on a Saturday evening and Bank Holiday Monday for lunch.Atmosphere: On both occasions recently, the restaurant was fairly quiet with a few diners. I prefer it when it is not too busy like it has been and also ensures quicker customer service when required presumably. Also, you know it is a good, genuine and authentic Chinese restaurant when the amount of Chinese diners outweigh other ethnic groups. Taking into consideration that there are many Chinese University students living nearby.Food: We had a variety of dishes and a few from the dim sum menu. This includes the pork and prawn dumplings, prawn dumplings, minced beef dumplings etc. These were nice and what I expected from a Chinese restaurant. We also had the Roast Chicken with boiled rice and Duck with boiled rice over both occasions. The Duck was very nice although I would have liked it with a more crispy skin personally. Also, I was not particularly fond of their version of the Hot and Sour soup as it has been better at other Chinese takeaways! The soup's consistency was a little too thick and not very appealing, although it is a small matter. I would not recommend the soup at all and my father also agreed completely.Customer Service:On both occasions, it was pleasant enough. My father was talking to the hostess a lot of the time who seemed very friendly with our family. The younger waitresses hardly cracked a smile or was courteous enough for my liking but other than that, the service was was prompt and they always cleared the tables efficiently when the plates were empty.Although we have not ordered from their take away menu, it seems too expensive especially compared to eating inside the restaurant when it is good value for money!Location is good as the area is not too busy and just off Beverley Road. There is also a car park located at the back of the restaurant for customers.Please also be aware if you are eating for the first time here, you cannot pay by card, only cash. But there is a bank machine around the corner.Overall, this place is good. Great tasting Chinese food and value for money.

Simply fantastic - Been there a few times now and will certainly be back, I had other favorite Chinese restaurants in Hull until I came to this place. Staff are friendly and well prepared, the food was very quick to come out every single time we have been.Food is incredible, simply the best around, looking forward to the next time!

A very authentic Chinese restaurant. The variety of dishes make this restaurant a joy to visit whenever we go. We visit this restaurant quite frequently and we are never let down. The dim-sum are homemade and delicious. The main is varied and genuine. The service cannot be better and each time we go there we feel like we just stepped in a restaurant in Hong Kong. A great Chinese experience.

By far the best Chinese in Hull. Most other cities have something like this restaurant, ans finally now Hull. You can get real traditional Chinese food, including Dim Sum, which is exceptional. Can't recommend enough.

Having checked the Chinese offering in Hull, this one was the most authentic in terms of dishes. The food was delicious and staff were friendly, you could tell it was a good restaurant by the majority of clientele being Chinese customers. The only downside was they didn't take card so make sure you bring cash, although there are two cash machines close by.

Ate early afternoon today. Very warm and friendly welcome with good food. Really large tasty portions. Salt and chilli squid great, as were the main courses we selected House Chow Mein (crispy noodles), three roasties with rice, sweet and sour chicken and crispy shredded beef. The ribs in Peking sauce were tasty but not quite as tender as they could have been. Nevertheless a great experience, really good value and a sizeable doggy bag to bring home for tea. We will be returning!

Oriental Palace may be an exagerated name for this humble place, but it does serve very good Chinese food, not necessarily authentic (though local Cinese people visit the place) but adapted to European taste. It is not cheap for Hull standards. However, if you can afford it, don't hesitate. The service is very friendly (funny thing was that the waitress spoke my language, Dutch, after having lived in Holland for 14 years!).

Location is great as it's next to supermarkets and there is a car park at the back.Their menu offers a wide selection of dishes of different regions of China. Their separate dim sum menu with images also offers a wide range. Their dim sums are always freshly made and generous in portion. The dim sums are very good and we often visit there.It's a good place for gathering whether with friends or with family.

We eat here fairly regularly as it's close to work and home. The food is almost always outstanding - our favourite starter is Salt and chilli squid (delicious), and we also often have the chicken satay (chicken cooked fine, sauce could be thicker and more nutty). The shredded duck is tasty. As for mains, Malaysian Kai Gil noodles or 2/3 roasties are recommended, as is chicken in black bean sauce (although I wouldn't object to a bit more chilli). But whatever we eat, we always enjoy the food.Drinks are a bit limited and I agree with another reviewer who mentioned the white whine. I don't object to cheap supermarket wine with my food if the mark-up isn't too ridiculous (which it isn't), but the wine currently offered really isn't that nice and doesn't go with the food. So we stick with water, or maybe Tsing Tao beer, and just enjoy our meal. If you haven't been, try it - the decor might not be that exciting, but the food speaks for itself - as does the fact that many of Hull's Chinese residents seem to come here in great numbers.

What a huge selection of food to choose from - there was something for everyone - very reasonably priced and large portions too - staff were helpful - would recommend it.

This was my fifth visit and, as always, the food was great. There is a huge choice on the menu and some quite unusual dishes. Portions are always large, well cooked and reasonably priced. My only complaint is the wine - I drink white wine and can happily drink most types. However there is only one choice of white wine and it was awful. I decided to try adding soda water to make it more drinkable but they don't stock it. They need to sort this out because otherwise the restaurant is very good.

Well, difficult really, it had what appeared to be laminate flooring on the walls which was off putting and not what you would expect in a palace.The food, well yes that certainly gave you the feeling that you where indeed eating in a palace and the staff although a little hesitant at first, perhaps until they got to know you better, were absolute fantastic. They were kind and very considerate making sure that you were treated as if you had sat down to a meal in...........................a palace! I thoroughly enjoyed my time there and I will be going back!

I was told about this restaurant by one of colleagues. Had some difficult finding this place as it was quite hidden from view even though it was by a busy road. I only found it because I was looking for this place. I wish I had found this place earlier.... (I went for lunch and dinner. Lunch was for dim sum.)The restaurant had dim sum which was fresh. The best part was the egg tarts, it was just appropriately filled and tasted like it was fresh out of the oven.The duck was amazing. The skin was crispy and was not dripping in oil as some duck are. The meat was succulent. (I honestly thought the duck was tastier than the one I tried in London)The crispy pork belly was well proportioned. I would suggest eating it there as it was a lot better eat in, then take away, probably because it became soggy when soaked in sauce for the take away.I have mixed feelings about the noodles. I only tried the egg noodle and vermicelli. Vermicelli with seafood was tasty. The noodles was soft and was a large portion. While the egg noodles to me appeared slightly tougher, I guess it depends on personal taste. But the soup the egg noodles was in was delicious and the wanton was pretty good. I really really enjoyed the food at the restaurant. Another good sign is majority of the customers were chinese. The atmosphere reminded me of a restaurant at home and that alone was a plus point. (Not fine dining)Wish I had found out earlier instead of 1 month before moving out of Hull. Definitely worth a visit!

I went to oriental palace after reading some good reviews about it. I had the salt and chilli prawn and squid dish and a plate of vegetables to go with it.My partner had a beef casserole. And due to miscommunication with with waitress we also had a bowl of rice. My seafood was very good and even though it was on the expensive side I didn't mind because it was a good portion and very tasty. I was quite shocked that the vegetables were the same price as the expensive meats around £8 for a plate of veg which to be honest was really nothing special. I am used to paying quite a lot less for vegetables. My partners food was ok but not amazing and again quite expensive for what was, very cheap meat with some potatoes. The service was ok but not great as our waitress could not understand us so we could not ask many questions about the food. There was another waitress who just seemed annoyed when serving us our food which was put on the table in stages rather than at once so we could eat together. It was not a disaster but I won't be going back again.

I called in out of chance and enjoyed the whole experience. To start off with, the room was filled with Chinese people, generally in large groups enjoying banquette style family dining, which is really where Chinese food comes into its own; you get to eat lots of different dishes. Its authentic nature makes it appear basic, but it is all about the food, which was first class and freshly cooked (not over cooked). They offer a wide range of traditional dishes along with the usual favourites. This extensive menu does offer the dinner a chance to try something new and quite different. The dishes are large which matches fairly with the pricing.

Popped in whilst passing one Monday evening. The food was good and the staff we're friendly and attentive. The place is very basic in appearance but this was of no consequence as we went to eat not to look at furnishings. Overall good food and good service, however possibly over priced considering the competition for Chinese banquet menus locally available.

The Oriental Palace usurps all others as the best Chinese restaurant in Hull!Ok, so not the most salubrious of venues, cheap, nasty furniture, crappy carpets and hideous decor however don't judge a book by its cover... They have a fabulous, varied, top quality Dim Sum menu that is all prepared in house but is only served until 5pm.The full menu is enormous! What a selection! Over 200 dishes to choose from! They do all usual favourites sweet and sour, black bean etc although I haven't tried them myself.I went for Dim Sum and Crispy Pork the first time and was astonished at the quality. The crispy pork is as good as you get on Gerard Street in London and the Cheung Fun were heavenly. In fact they are both the best I have tried outside of Chinatown and before then Hong Kong.The second time I got a take away to share with friends and again all dishes were of the highest caliber, everyone agreed. We had the Singapore Vermicelli, Poached Chicken, Salt and Chilli Squid, Pak Choi and garlic and the wonderfully named Three Roasties a selection of Roast Duck, Char Siu Pork and Crispy Pork. sigh just fantastic.Oh, and did I mention that the price is unbelievably cheap? Go. Go now!

Just been for another lovely lunch at the Oriental Palace. As always the staff were friendly and attentive. We had our favourites from the dim sum menu, including crispy baby squid, bbq pork buns, prawn dumplings & steamed custard buns. All washed down with chinese tea. The food is always excellent & freshly cooked. Dim sum is a good way to try out lots of different things you perhaps haven't experienced before and great for sharing. This is the best dim sum in the area....and we've tried lots. They have a full menu of the usual staples plus many more. Staff will point you to more authentic dishes if you are feeling adventurous.

Decided to try as it was recommended by neighbours. On 1st inspection it looked good value for money, as portions were large. The curry was watery and tasteless. I had beef curry which was so chewy I left most of it. Husband had a special curry and it was just the same. If I didn't know any better I would say it was the previous days food reheated. Both dishes lacked flavour, and to add to it we were both ill the next day. I would definitely never recommend anyone to invest in a takeaway meal from this restaurant.
