Oriental Delight restaurant in Hyndburn

I went on a Sunday, craving a Chinese and remembered this place from when i was a kid, The Decorations where lovely and I arrived after the main rush, somewhere around 8pm as this place can get very busy! Ordered the sweet n sour chicken with some rice and prawn crackers and while the portion servings are a little small, its quite hearty and tastes great and came out just a little after 10 mins, the staff where very friendly and keen and often checked on me if i needed anything else, will definitely come again with friends

Absolutely delicious, hot tasty food from start to finish. Our first time here and it certainly will not be the last. Everything was cooked to perfection. Reasonable prices too. Highly recommended.

First of all the pop is flat and comes in a bottle and is not put in the fridge. So all warm and flat. The mains took about 40/50mins to arrive and were very small portions. They brought the rice and chips out first and where sat there on our plates going cold untill the food came 15/20s after the rice and chips where cold by this time. The rice is greasy, the rest of the food was good quality apart from the seafood, very rubbery and over cooked. Service isn’t great, very limited drinks that aren’t warm and flat. Take a video of you without asking which was extremely awkward and weird. Then when doing the cake an extremely extra man came out trying to make it nice by doing the cake and singing but by this time we had enough of the poor service, long waits and flat drinks. They did however decorate for the birthday which was cute. Price was expensive considering food was tiny portions and barley had any drinks. Sad to say it was such a disappointment because it used to be a family favourite. Never to return!!

From the minute we walked in the staff were attentive, friendly and couldn't do enough for us. They served absolutely fantastic food especially the egg fried rice and ribs. They even allowed us to dine in when usually they would be closed. It was worth every penny and we will be back very soon.

Very friendly staff, could not fault them. However, extremely cold building, wear a coat!! Also, no English menu (other than chips) so if your going with someone who isn't a fan of Chinese food they won't be able to eat.

We had been before many years ago and decided to try it again. We ordered a set meal for two as we fancied plenty of variety we had craved Chinese for a couple of weeks. There were two birthday parties in Saturday night , the service was quick polite and the food was scrumptious. Price was very competitive too. The chef walked around the tables asking if everything was ok. Will definitely go again in fact we plan to become regulars.

We hadn’t visited this restaurant for sometime, but it was really nice to return and find that the standards were as good as ever. The owners and staff are all very friendly. We both had a different duck dish and both were excellent. We were pleased to see that it was still very popular, and we look forward to visiting again.

First time visit and I can’t wait to come come back! Great food and brilliant service, great vegetarian choices too which is a bonus! Best Chinese I have had in years would definitely recommend to anyone and I think the people of Accrington should take advantage of.

We visited this restaurant for the first time to celebrate a birthday there was eight of us. The restaurant was busy with a good atmosphere. Staff were attentive, we did have to wait slightly for some soup but overall it was lovely fresh food. I would highly recommend this place. Definitely going to return.

Not sure why the footfall for this restaurant is low. Maybe Accy people don't appreciate what they have here. I've been quite a few times and it's always good. Went again last Saturday and brought some family up from London. They aren't jokers, and eat out a lot and they were impressed. To be honest, I think the food is as good as it gets without spending silly money and the ambience is decent. Go and support your local restaurant. You won't regret it.

The food was delicious, the service was friendly and the evening was a delight. My parents and i enjoyed everything about it. Nothing was to much trouble, and as the evening was my treat the bill was a pleasant surprise. It wasn't our first visit and it won't be our last. (The set menu works out to be really good value)

Best Chinese in accrington. I used to work for oriental delight and can I just say Karen and Simon are some of the nicest people, so friendly and accommodating make you feel so welcome. The food is to die for my favorites have got to be the sweet and sour dish, salt and pepper chicken and chicken in black bean sauce. The restaurant has a lover interior and the tables are really nicely presented. Would 100% recommend to anyone if your looking for a brilliant Chinese.

What a disappointment. The duck starter was lovely. Our mains all came out at different times, my husband had nearly finished his before my daughter and I got ours. I ordered the green Thai curry and actually had to send it back because it tasted like a bland chicken soup. I’m not a fussy person and never complain in restaurants but it had never seen anything resembling Thai curry,I was offered another meal which came within minutes. The egg fried rice was average to say the least. Service was very poor. I’d hate to see what it’s like when it’s busy. Definitely won’t be going back.

Honestly the best Chinese I've ever had! All the food was fresh and tasty. Nothing was greasy like some places. So much flavour in ever single item even the pickled vegetables. Wasnt too expensive either. From preston but I will definitely be coming back just for the food. My only complaint was the 2 waitress were really awkward and not very approachable.

Went to the restaurant on Saturday evening with friends. The food was excellent well served and tasty. We had various starters then crispy duck various mains all piping hot . Service spot on would recommend as a group or with partner . If you are looking for a change give it a try .

Went for a birthday meal with six friends and the staff trimmed the table.We all had different dishes and everyone was happy with their choice and the price.

We visited this restaurant on a Saturday evening. It was extremely busy with a couple of large parties. However this didn't impact either the quality of the food or the service. Both of which were excellent.

Overall the meal was nice. We opted for the set menu B. The soup was good but have never had to pay extra for prawn crackers before. The appetisers were good and the duck excellent. The main meals whilst tasty were very small, enough really for one person and we ended up with lots of rice and nothing to go with it. Service was outstanding and the restaurant has a nice ambience.

We stayed nearby and this was the nearest location to us. The staff are wonderful, the restaurant is well decorated and is really nice inside. I thought the food was as I would expect, I should have gone for the set menu so I could have tried more of it. I can see it's a great room and can easily accommodate large parties. Service was very good, lovely staff, nice food.

We have been meaning to try this place for years, and quite frankly we should have gone sooner as it was absolutely delightful! Right from when I called to make our booking the customer service was exemplary, wonderful and attentive upon arrival, fabulous and friendly!

It's now become a bit of a regular haunt for meeting friends, and I've now introduced the family to the Oriental Delight. Set meal B is always a winner and at £18.50 an absolute steal. Never had a dish that has disappointed - highly recommended. Service is also friendly and efficient.

My family went there last time I was home for my dad's birthday and this time we went again so my chinese girlfriend could meet the family (yeah, taking chinese to a chinese... i said meet the family not that we're not sarcy idiots)

This place is by FAR the BEST Chinese restaurant/ takeaway we have ever been to. The food is absolutely fantastic, the staff are so nice and welcoming. Absolutely love it here.

Been here before to eat and although pricey has always been good- however , ordered a takeaway this evening and can honestly say it was shockingly bad! Very expensive too! Soup had split and the rest of the food was bland over cooked, and very amateur! I love cooking Chinese myself and the basic ingredients that give Chinese it’s lovely flavour , was missing??! I really don’t know how it was THAT bad! Absolutely gutted we spent £30 for poor food.

I've been twice now in the last couple of months with friends and really enjoyed it. Have had a banquet both times and thought it was decent value for money and good food. Service is friendly. It's a bit of a trek from where I live, but worth travelling to, I'd say.

Im reluctant to review this restaurant... Why? Well i have eaten in many different resturants around the world including some of the most well renowned places of all different kinds of genre or taste and every now and then you comr across a little gem hidden away in some corner that has incredible and service that you don't want to recommend as it may become so popular that you then can't book a table. De brunos in cala de mijas is one, cafe central in fuertuventura is another and Oriental delight in little old accrington is another, not easy to find if your pacing as its a little hidden away and no real parking as its on a main road but believe me the food is heaven, fresh that morning and absolutely delicious. I can only describe it as emotional... exquisite... The resturant is nice not perfect but i don't want perfect i want authentic, real and with a perfect atmosphere... Quiet but not so i feel people can hear me but not loud so my evening is spoilt with me having to shout at my guests to be heard. I have been twice.. my parter three times and it has always been emotional. Wine list really compliments the menu and the kitchen and staff are exceptional. Menu choice is perfect.. not to much.. not to little.

My wife and I decided to try this restaurant as Jade Gardens had ceased trading and we were pleasantly surprised to find that everything about the place was far superior. The restaurant was very bright and well decorated, spacious and welcoming. Be wary of sitting next to the main window as it there is quite a draft from the brick wall.

Highly recommend this Chinese restaurant. Visit on a regular basis, staff are friendly and the owners are very welcoming. Food is lovely and by far the best Chinese in town 😊

Haven’t been for a while but this place never lets us down, food always tasty and hot. Simon and his team are always on par, accommodating and attentive, please to see they’ve lately received their 5 points on Food health & hygiene which I wouldn’t expect anything less from this outstanding restaurant.

Ok its foodie report time. This is my observation based on only one visit on 21/10/18 and may not be your observation or findings. I decided it was time to try a different Chinese and hopefully find one locally that can cook different things to a high standard as a takeaway. I looked around on trip advisor to find one with a good reputation on here. I found the Oriental Delight and had to think where it was. I realised it was one I had driven past many times but it did not look very appetising. I took the mrs with me and we attended with the intention of having a takeaway. On arrival we were pleasantly surprised with the interior and thought we would eat in instead of take away. We sat and perused the menu and thought set meal D ticked all out boxes. We started with chicken and sweetcorn soup which had plenty of taste and certainly not shy of chicken. We then had a platter with salt and pepper ribs, prawn toast, pickled veg, duck spring rolls, seaweed, and steak rolls in a pepper sauce. All of these had plenty of taste. I found the pepper sauce a little overpowering for the steak but it did taste good the Mrs said it was to her taste and would not tone it down. We then had aromatic crispy duck with hoisin sauce and again a really tasty dish. At this point we were saying that maybe we have found something locally that we would be more than happy to attend frequently. The main course was one of our favourites, fillet steak in Cantonese sauce. This turned up on the sizzling platter and was fantastic. All in all a fantastic meal and after discussing our food we decided that there was only one more thing we had to try. Salt and pepper squid and I was glad we did. It’s very rare that I can compare a local Chinese to Manchester’s china town but in this case I am more than happy to say it’s one of the best Chinese meals we have had. Well done Oriental Delight and we will see you again soon.

Worth a visit, we went during the week so not too busy. The food was lovely we had banquet A and normally with banquets they over face you with food but it was perfect. Just the right amount. Will be certainly going again.

This place is close to where we live and each visit has been a good experience. We recently visited Oriental Delight and the experience has been lovely.

This place offered a very standard menu and nothing exciting about the food that was served. All a good standard and wasn’t disappointed. We were the only people in the restaurant the whole time we dined so the service was naturally attentive.

I have visited Oriental Delight numerous times both to eat in & to take away. The taste is out of this world, there are two items on the starter menu (& both are in the oriental Delight combination start) that you cannot get anywhere else nearby. I only know of two others both in Manchester that sell them! Steak rolls in black pepper sauce & Spring Onion pancakes....AMAZING!!! I also get the crispy shredded beef in a chilli sauce on the specials for my main, cooked to perfection mmmm. Staff are lovely & helpful too x

After reading reviews we were looking forward to our evening but were let down both by the food and the service. My partner and I went for fillet steak dishes which we both found very tough to the point we had to complain. After a discussion with staff as to was it it or wasn’t it fillet they agreed to take it away. They replaced it with the same dishes but with king prawn. The prawns were very good but while waiting for them the rice was going cold. The other dishes ordered were average.

This was our first time at the oriental delight - I attended with my husband and daughter. The service was brilliant, the food was tasty and enjoyable. The staff couldn’t do enough for us! Reasonable price and tasty food. If we lived more local would definitely call again!

Brilliant Chinese restaurant, good portions, friendly and helpful staff, great menu. Each dish was well presented and flavoursome, we enjoyed our first meal there so much we went back there again two days later. Beautiful decor, good variety which encompassed all the old favourites and some new ones too. We will certainly be back again for more.

Came with family for my brothers birthday and once again everything was superb. Had the pork and prawn dumplings for starters and wow, what a treat! It's not often that when the waiter comes, halfway though your meal, and asked if everything is ok, that you actually mean it when you say, "yes." I honestly believe this is the best Chinese restaurant in Hyndburn.

Well what can i say, the restaurant is very deceiving from the outside and is surprisingly nice inside. We went on a hot day so it was very quiet however the service was fantastic!!!! We sat on a table near the back and service was friendly and very efficient, the owner and his wife are the friendliest people and take time out to have a chat and make sure your enjoying your meal. Portions are very generous and very tasty!!!! Would highly recommend if you want good portions and a friendly atmosphere just a shame they don't do a Sunday buffet as not many people do that around here and we always have to venture further afield.

Had a date night with the wife, come here from a recommendation. Nice building, good service, very clean and tidy, friendly staff. We had the set menu banquet and food was ok but nothing special however portions are on the small side. Pleasant dining but nothing special.

We're regulars so there's nothing I can say that I haven't said before, the title says it all!Simon and Karen along with their staff couldn't be more accommodating.We will as always return to this welcoming, exquisite and awesome (in my partners words) Chinese ;) there's no better place locally.

This was the first time that we had visited this restaurant, we decided to visit mainly due to good reports on TripAdvisor. We were not disappointed.The interior was much more spacious than we had anticipated. It is well decorated, the tables are well spaced out and it has a pleasant ambience.The wine list was surprisingly good. We ordered two different duck dishes, both were beautifully presented and very enjoyable. The duck was very tender.The service was very pleasant and efficient.All in all a good night out, we will definitely visit again.

It may have been the company of my friend who invited me and chose venue but the restaurant was excellent, the staff the nicest I have experienced in a long time and the meal absolutely scrumptious; and unlike my husband, I am not a huge fan of Chinese cuisine.The wait staff, maybe owners asked if all was OK on several occasions and even suggested we sit and relax after our meal and teas.Will definitely visit with my husband when next in UK.

we didn't book, just walked in on a Friday night. Was quiet but very welcoming and nice atmosphere. Service was good, food was lovely. The only thing I would say it that the portions are quite small really.. I chose thai red curry and ordered rice and the portions were like a childrens main rather than an adults I thought.

Well, delight by name and delight by nature! We walked in about half 5, it was empty, bad sign normally, but nope! Service was great, food was amazing! Best Chinese meal I've ever had, and we blooming love Chinese! Lovely decor, it's great, I'll go going again and I love 25 miles away! Enjoy!

We went again this year for an evening xmas meal. Fantastic food as ever and great friendly service. They really couldn't do enough for us. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone.

I am very particular when it comes down to Chinese food .. but nice food .. brilliant for groups .. staff are pleasant. The interior and decor is tasteful and gives a nice classy feel. Would be a nice place to go on a date .. I went with a group from work and we all really enjoyed it, the waitress mixed up our order slightly but nobody minded as is was corrected straight away and everything was fresh tasting and nice and hot.

We went here on a Thursday night and it was dead. We only one in the restaurant but the service was fantastic food was amazing. Would recommend the dim sum starter combo to anyone. Shame it so quiet will go again with more people

Food is very modern. Very much like the Manchester restaurant. Excellent choice of dim-sum and vegetarian selection. The staff are lovely and always remember your name when ordering. Always made to feel like a family friend when dining there. Good job

I really dislike 'English' Chinese food, however the food here is different, and tastes fantastic without overloading of salt and monosodium glutamate that is so usually the case in the UK. out favourite is the Chicken and Sweetcorn soup which is special here, we have never had better anywhere else.the restaurant itself is very nice and has a good atmosphere and we always enjoy our time eating here, Simon is a very good host who is attentive and ensures you are comfortable. highly recommended

Attended this awful establishment with my children and partner, however; I can safely say that I will NEVER attend again. The manager Simon is extremely rude and tried to push you to buy expensive drinks and deserts so that they can make more money off you. Wasn't an authentic Chinese experience, food wasn't fresh at all! The quality was just horrendous and cold! Waiting time was descent and couldn't fault the young waitresses who served me; however, it became apparent and they where being TOLD and BOSSED around a lot which made me feel uncomfortable as they where being shouted at. Wouldn't recommend to anyone! Extremely expensive (my advice go to your local takeaway) much better food for better prices!!!!!! JUST DESPICABLE

We were due to go to another Chinese restaurant but it was closed so tried this on spec. It was a nice restaurant but cold . The service was good but the portions were so small. Two lots of rice were served in one dish. We usually cannot eat all our food but there just wasn't enough. The food was nice but not good value for money . My sweet and sour chicken was like a child's portion. I don't have a massive appetite either but to go home hungry is a bit much .

I've visited Oriental Delight many times over the past few years and the food has never failed to hit the mark. This last time was a Saturday evening. The restaurant was surprisingly quiet, with only another couple in the restaurant as well as my party. We ordered the food and whilst waiting the lovely lady, Karen, who owns the restaurant came over to talk to me and even remembered my name despite it being a good few months since my last visit. Such a little thing but hugely personal. The food as always was beautiful and perfectly cooked. In fact we had too much to eat between the two of us. The dim sums are absolutely beautiful. The meal cost £30 for two including drinks which although not cheap, is not expensive and worth every penny. I've also previously ordered takeaways and they are always beautiful.Simon also came over to check everything was to my satisfaction despite being in the kitchen that night. I couldn't fault it. Go dine there!!!

The staff are lovely and the hosts Simon and Karen go out of their way to ensure you have a fantastic time and that everything is great. Food can only be described as stunningly superb. Atmosphere is fine, but it can be a little cold inside in winter. Not so much last year as it was always full of visitors lol. Everyone welcome. I've been going to this restaurant for a lot of years. Simon is a brilliant host and we always have fun. Food is brilliant plenty more return visits from me.

Went here recently for a family meal. The staff couldn't do enough for us they ha don't balloons and banners up as it was a birthday celebration. We had the set menu 3. The amount of food we had was enough to feed the 3 of us plus more!! We even took some home for tea the next night. I will be going back here soon!

First time here, first impressions nice, staff very polite and helpful. Food prices quite expensive really although it's nice to eat out, takeaway is so much cheaper! Food overall ok, not outstanding. Don't think we will try again, I feel there are better places in the surrounding area.

The food was nice not the best i have had but still really good the staff were friendly and always asking if we needed drinks we went for a friends birthday they decorated our table with banners and balloons and even got everyone to sing happy birthday a nice place to go with family and friends to enjoy a nice meal

We just celebrated our Golden Wedding with a meal for 34 on a Saturday Night & had an excellent evening .We gave orders for the meal a week in advance so they were prepared and they coped admirably. Just under half of us ordered the set meals , with a choice of 4 ( banquets ),so you get a taste of more or less everything on the menu ,which we had never tried before @ this venue. We were not disappointed. A good night was had by all.Congratulations Simon and everyone concerned - Well Done.

We recently enjoyed an absolutely delicious meal here with friends. Staff could not have been more helpful and attentive.

We came here for my friends 50th birthday celebration and as we were a large group of some 20+ we had to pre order our starters and main course.Unfortunately it was nearly 60 minutes until our starters arrived about 30 minutes after one of us received just their starter which was most unusual. Therefore service very slow and appears that Oriental Delight buckled under the pressure of a large pre order.All was not lost though as the food was outstanding. My starter of spring rolls were excellent and the crispy shredded chicken in chilli is one of the best I've had. Absolutely superb.If the service was as good as the food then this is a sure fire 5/5 and maybe had I been part of a smaller group the service may have been quicker and 5/5.If your in the area though, give it a try.

My father introduced me to this place, he made the sign.My girlfriend and I had the platter for two and wow! What a treat. So rare to eat such an authentic Chinese meal, complete with seaweed and a cup of Chinese tea at the end.Can't wait to go back again.

My self ,husband daughter and son in law went to celebrate my daughters birthday. There is no car park but parking is available in near by roads,In side the restaurant is large and open plan,,with a pleasant seating area the whole place is very clean and smart.Food you are spoilt for choice with an extensive menu at reasonable prices.The food was served promptly and there were no complaint,except my chicken was a large portion and I was offered a "doggy bag"to take home the remains.Total bill for 4 meals plus drinks £91.88 was very reasonable for the service food and drinks 3
